Phinsider Radio: Pay Xavien Howard, thoughts on Ryan Tannehill, Bills game recap, and will Josh Allen haunt the Dolphins for years to come?04 Dec 201800:42:37
If Charles Clay had caught Josh Allen’s wobbler in the Miami Dolphins win vs. the Buffalo Bills, it would’ve been all Phinsider Radio’s fault, as Sutton said Josh Allen isn’t very good and Charles Clay was unanimously voted as someone who “didn’t get better for another team,” contrary to what Jordan Phillips suggested. But, the Dolphins won so all that is moot. On this episode of Phinsider Radio, we’ll discuss:Allen and his future in the NFL. We heard on the broadcast that Allen was someone who Adam Gase likely would’ve drafted. Did Miami dodge a bullet or is he going to be a force in the AFC East for years to come? What do we make of Ryan Tannehill’s 5 TD, 1 INT return from his shoulder capsule injury?State of the offense and defense following the victoryXavien Howard and whether it’s time to pay him Subscribe. Phinsider Radio: Throwbacks, Jordan Phillips, Kenny Stills and the Buffalo Bills30 Nov 201800:45:19
On this week’s episode of Phinsider Radio, Matthew Cannata, Aaron Sutton, and Josh Houtz preview Sunday’s matchup vs the Buffalo Bills. We hop in the Delorean and travel back in time to discuss the Dolphins’ iconic throwbacks. Should they make a full-time change, or would that ruin the nostalgia of prestigious unis? Can Matt Burke’s defense pressure Josh Allen, or will he have a Thad Lewis-type game vs Miami’s Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde defense? Former Miami Dolphins’ defensive tackle Jordan Phillips had some choice words for his former team, and suggested players thrive after they leave South Florida. We debunk this “fake news” and tell you why NO ONE should care what Phillips has to say.  We also discuss Kenny Stills recent comments about his lack of production, and tell you why the Dolphins need to find a way to get the speedy wide receiver the football.  Lastly, we give our predictions for this Sunday’s matchup, and break down what it will take to walk out of Hard Rock 6-6.  Listen. Phinsider Radio: Where do the Miami Dolphins go from here? Is it time for another reset and rebuild?27 Nov 201800:52:45
Up 10 points in the 4th quarter, the Miami Dolphins found itself in a position to shock NFL fans and escape Lucas Oil Stadium with a crucial road win. And yet, as the 4th quarter went on, the inescapable feeling of doom crept over us, as we are sure it did you, with the deja vu of ghosts’ past whispering how it’ll finally turn out. Opportunities were squandered, and the Miami Dolphins limped out of Indianapolis with a 27-24 defeat. With the Miami Dolphins all but mathematically eliminated from Playoff contention, the Phinsider Radio team will ask:Should Adam Gase be the coach of the Miami Dolphins? Does he still “have” the players? What kind of “reset” is necessary? How large a rebuild is this? Tune in for all this and more on Phinsider Radio! Learn more about your ad choices. Phinsider Radio: Carving the path to victory for the Miami Dolphins against the Indianapolis Colts24 Nov 201800:42:53
The Miami Dolphins have landed in Indianapolis and will take on the Colts on Sunday. Both teams are sporting a 5-5 record but they are both teams headed in opposite directions. Can the Dolphins stop their skid and right the ship or will they see their playoff hopes fade away with a loss? It’s going to start on the ground with Dolphins running back Frank Gore as he will be the key to the Dolphins offense. They’ll need a great game from him with a dash of Kenyan Drake as well. We talk about Gore and everything that he brings to the table for the Dolphins offense. But, Gore won’t be able to do it alone. They’ll need help from Dolphins quarterback Ryan Tannehill. How will he be able to beat the Colts? To begin, he better hope the Colts don’t blitz because his grades aren’t the best. He’ll have to rely on a different receiver corps compared to what he had when he last played. Gone is Albert Wilson and Jakeem Grant. Questionable for Sunday’s game is Danny Amendola and DeVante Parker. Can Tannehill boost those around him and give this offense the spark it needs, or will he continue with the struggles he had before getting injured? Even if Tannehill comes back and sparks the offense, will it be enough to hold off Colts quarterback Andrew Luck? Luck and the Colts offense have been playing at an elite level the past few weeks and they are red hot coming into this game. The good news for Dolphins fans is that the Miami defense is ranked towards the top of the NFL when looking at their red zone defense and when it comes to forcing turnovers. Which force will come out on top? There’s a certain key to beating Luck and it’s not the blitz. Tune in to hear what we have to say. The Dolphins will need to do quite a few things right in order to win this game and it’s not going to be easy. Join us on #PhinsiderRadio as we lay out the path to victory for the Dolphins! Phinsider Radio: Can Ryan Tannehill save the Miami Dolphins season and is Adam Gase the right coach for this franchise?21 Nov 201800:45:39
What’s better than talking about the most divisive Miami Dolphins player of the last 7 years? Adding lightning rod Head Coach Adam Gase to the mix! Matthew Cannata, Josh Houtz, and Aaron Sutton will discuss the ins and outs of the news today that Ryan Tannehill will be the starting quarterback this Sunday vs. the Indianapolis Colts. The waters have never been murkier when it comes to Tannehill and Gase, but we’re going to roll up our sleeves and tackle some difficult issues. At the end of the day, we all want a consistent winner, and you might have as many varied opinions on how to get there as the Phinsider Radio triumvirate. Be sure to share your opinion with us down in the Comments Section or look us up on Twitter! Tune in later this week for a detailed preview of the Dolphins/Colts contest at Lucas Oil Stadium. Brian Baldinger Talks Dolphins + Bills Trade Stefon Diggs to Texans05 Apr 202400:41:01
NFL analyst Brian Baldinger (@BaldyNFL) joins the guys to discuss all things #BaldyBreakdowns and Miami Dolphins. The show starts on the defensive side of the ball and how coordinator Anthony Weaver can keep the unit above water until Jaelan Phillips and Bradley Chubb return to full strength. Sticking in the trenches, should the Dolphins continue building in the trenches or pursue a big-name wide receiver No. 3 like some have suggested? The guys wrap the show by talking about the Stefon Diggs trade that shook up the AFC East, before wrapping the show with a few thoughts on the offensive line. Phinsider Radio: Very quick recap of Dolphins vs. Packers and playing a game called Keep or Dump for 201915 Nov 201800:45:29
The Miami Dolphins sit at .500 and on the outside-looking-in when it comes to the AFC Playoff picture. Ironic, the Dolphins are finally fortunate enough to have a bye later in the regular season, and yet cursed enough to have limited benefit from it. Perhaps we see the return of Ryan Tannehill, but there’s still work to be done. As we enter the Week 11 hiatus, the Phinsider Radio team sits down at the roundtable and ask ourselves the same question any new or returning coach or front office member would ask themselves: what do we have to work with? Matthew Cannata, Josh Houtz, and Aaron Sutton will discuss key expiring contracts a la Cameron Wake, William Hayes, and Ja’Wuan James, but we’ll also peruse some of the contracts that could be terminated to open up more cap space (e.g. Robert Quinn). Phinsider Radio: The latest on Reshad Jones and Kenyan Drake while taking a hard look at the Miami Dolphins offense and defense06 Nov 201800:55:04
On this week’s episode of Phinsider Radio, Matthew Cannata, Aaron Sutton and Josh Houtz discuss the Dolphins 13-6 victory over the New York Jets.  What happened with Reshad Jones and Matt Burke, and who’s to blame for the lack of communication. Is Matt Burke on the hot seat?  Oddly enough, the Dolphins defense played lights out with Jones on the sideline. Akeem Spence and Cameron Wake both had two sacks a piece. Kiko Alonso had an interception, as did T.J McDonald, Walt Aikens. Jerome Baker picked off an errant Sam Darnold throw and took it to the house.  Is this what we can expect from the defense moving forward, or are the Jets just that bad? On offense, the Dolphins struggled for the second consecutive week, and many are fed up with Brock Osweiler. Will Ryan Tannehill be healthy enough to start after the bye? Adam Gase admitted on Monday the Dolphins didn’t do a good enough job splitting touches between Kenyan Drake and Frank Gore. If the Dolphins want to have success during the second half of the season, Drake needs more touches.  Matthew Cannata discusses his experience as a credentialed member of the media, and the boys do the unthinkable and send Sam Darnold an edible arrangement for his contribution in Miami’s 2-0, series sweep of the lowly JESTS All this and more on this week’s episode of Phinsider Radio! On this episode of Phinsider Radio, Matthew Cannata, Josh Houtz, and Aaron Sutton discuss the NFL trade deadline. As you know, the Miami Dolphins were not active and have decided to go with what they have for the remainder of the season. Was this a good move? Would we have been buyers or sellers? It’s a crossroads between “win now” and the long-term trajectory of the team. We also discuss the futures of Ryan Tannehill, Kenyan Drake, DeVante Parker and others. Raheem Mostert Defies The Odds and Lands Contract Extension + Kendall Lamm is Back in Miami! 03 Apr 202400:26:33
Raheem Mostert set the standard at running back for the Miami Dolphins and was awarded with a contract extension for his efforts. The 2023 league-leader in rushing touchdowns will stick in Miami through the 2025 season. Formerly known as an “injury-prone” running back due to playing double-digit games just twice in five years — he’s missed just three regular-season games since returning to Miami. Mike McDaniel has re-established a threatening rushing attack with Mostert responsible for leading the charge. From dynasty to re-draft, we explore what to expect from Mostert in 2024 and beyond. Also -- somehow -- news dropped right before we record and discuss Miami's decision to re-sign tackle Kendall Lamm to a one-year deal. Phinsider Radio: Who are the real Miami Dolphins?21 Oct 201800:19:38
No one can say with certainty who the 2018 Miami Dolphins are. After an improbable victory vs the Bears last Sunday, the Dolphins did a complete 180, losing to the Lions in convincing fashion 32-21. Miami’s defense allowed 248 yards rushing, and had no answer for the Lions offense. Brock Osweiler played well enough to win the game, completing 22/31 for 239 yards and 2 touchdowns. Overall, however, the Dolphins have remained up and down all year. Which begs the question, who are the 2018 Miami Dolphins?!?!Is Ryan Tannehill the starter when healthy, or has Brock Osweiler played well enough to remain the starter? Can Matt Burke’s defense rebound after a short week vs an underrated Houston offense?Who will step up in Albert Wilson’s absence? Should the Dolphins continue to shop Parker, or will be blossom into a true No.1 WR?Can the Dolphins slow down DeAndre Hopkins, Lamar Miller and Deshaun Watson? Phinsider Radio: It's time to Brock and Roll after a Miami Dolphins victory over the Chicago Bears14 Oct 201800:29:26
Wow! What an incredible game! The Dolphins are now 4-2 after an improbable 31-28 victory over the Chicago Bears in overtime. This game had it all and now puts the Dolphins atop the AFC East. As we know, Brock Osweiler got the start and he did exactly what you’d expect him to do…. Or not. Osweiler threw for 28/44 yards 380 yards, 3 touchdowns, and 2 interceptions. Albert Wilson made everyone forget about Jarvis Landry, and made big play after big play.  Wilson had 6 receptions for 155 yards and 2 touchdowns. Most importantly, the offensive line contained the Bears vaunted defense.   Miami’s offense put 541 yards on the NFL’s #1 ranked defense. T.J McDonald made a key interception that gave the Dolphins a chance late. Kiko Alonso played out of his mind and recovered a fumble at the goal line and forced one later in the game to give the Dolphins a chance. Former Dolphins kicker Cody Parkey missed a field goal late in overtime that gave Miami a chance to drive downfield. Jason Sanders hit a 47-yard field goal to win the game. Is there a QB controversy on our hands? Whatever happens, the Dolphins are 4-2 and take on the Detroit Lions next week. Learn more about your ad choices. Phinsider Radio: Interview with SAVE Executive Director Tony Lima, recipient of the NFL Hispanic Heritage Leadership Award28 Sep 201800:09:56
The Miami Dolphins have awarded SAVE Executive Director Tony Lima with the NFL Hispanic Heritage Leadership Award. In conjunction with Hispanic Heritage Month, Lima was honored with a trophy and a $2,000 donation to SAVE prior to the Dolphins game against the Oakland Raiders. Born and raised in Miami, Lima is a first generation Cuban-American. As Executive Director, Lima oversees SAVE, South Florida’s leading organization dedicated to protecting people of the LGBTQ community against discrimination. Since 1993, SAVE has advocated for equal rights for persons of all sexual orientations and gender identities. Under his leadership, SAVE has had the biggest wins towards LGBTQ equality in the organization’s 25-year history: in 2015, SAVE successfully sued the state of Florida to legalize same-sex marriage, in 2014, SAVE passed comprehensive nondiscrimination protections for transgender individuals at the Miami-Dade County Commission. During his five-year tenure, the organization has endorsed and helped elect a record seventy-five pro-equality leaders at all levels of government. In 2016, the organization created and implemented a groundbreaking model proven to have a lasting effect on reducing prejudice against the LGBTQ community. It has since become a national model for helping change hearts and minds. SAVE is a grant recipient of the Miami Dolphins Football Unites program, created by Owner Stephen Ross and players and designed to create opportunities for South Florida-based individuals and organizations to strengthen and expand their impact around community engagement, education and criminal justice reform. Through the launch of the Football Unites Grant Program, the Dolphins are supporting SAVE’s campaign to reduce anti-LGBT prejudice and to identify and build a list of supportive community members. This past Sunday, I had the opportunity to interview Lima prior to receiving the award on the field. Click the player above to listen to this exclusive interview! Learn more about your ad choices. Phinsider Radio: Previewing the upcoming game between the Miami Dolphins and New England Patriots26 Sep 201800:34:14
Despite the collective “WTF?!!” atmosphere among national media outlets surrounding the Miami Dolphins 3-0 start, a showdown in Foxborough looms this Sunday at Gillette Stadium.  The ubiquitous New England Patriots are 1-2, coming off 2 straight losses, most recently a 26-10 demise to former Bill Belichick protege Matt Patricia. We’ll discuss what the Detroit Lions did effectively in the Monday Night game, and detail both sides of the ball in the quest of taking a stranglehold on the AFC East.  Matthew Cannata, Josh Houtz, and Aaron Sutton bring all the information to you. Phinsider Radio: The Miami Dolphins are 3-0 to start the 2018 NFL Season25 Sep 201800:31:59
We are now three weeks into the season and the Miami Dolphins are still perfect. Even more impressive, is the two game lead the team has on the rest of the AFC East. On this week’s episode, MC$$$, Sutton, and Houtz break down the five plays that influenced Sunday’s game, and ultimately led to a Miami Dolphins’ victory over the Oakland Raiders. Here are some of the things we discuss in this week’s episode:The Dolphins inability to stop Jordy Nelson in Reshad Jones' absence. Miami’s 4th down stop at the goal line early in the game and how Vincent Taylor and Davon Godchaux have helped transition the run defense post-Ndamukong Suh. Xavien Howard currently leads the NFL in interceptions, and completely erased Amari Cooper on Sunday. Is he a top-5 CB in the NFL? Is he the best shutdown corner since the Patrick Surtain/Sam Madison days? We discuss Albert Wilson and how he’s slowly becoming a star in Miami. Was his TD pass to Jakeem Grant the greatest trick play since the Wildcat was unleashed back in 2008? Is Albert Wilson the best back-up QB on the roster? Lastly we discuss the Albert Wilson 74-yard catch and run that put a fork in Oakland. Did Albert Wilson and Jakeem Grant “just become best friends” as they high-fived on the way to the end zone? The Dolphins are now a perfect 3-0 as they look ahead to their matchup in Foxboro. But first, we need to recap the game against the Raiders. Learn more about your ad choices. Phinsider Radio: Previewing the upcoming game between the Miami Dolphins and Oakland Raiders19 Sep 201800:34:22
The Miami Dolphins come back to Hard Rock Stadium equipped with an AFC East divisional road game in their pocket and a 2-0 record. The Dolphins must resist the urge to get comfortable and look forward to a Week 4 matchup with the New England Patriots: the 0-2 Oakland Raiders are at their door step. Despite the perceived caricature of the Oakland Raiders, they hung with the Los Angeles Rams for 3 quarters and took the Denver Broncos down to the wire. This is the National Football League, ladies and gentleman. This is a league based on parity and the Dolphins should only expect to be in another scrap this Sunday. Let’s focus on the here-and-now and decipher just how the Dolphins favor against the Raiders on both sides of the ball, and we’ll even give the special teams some props. Matthew Cannata, Josh Houtz, and Aaron Sutton bring all the information to you. Tune in and we’ll give you the keys to victory. Learn more about your ad choices. Dolphins Draft Guide: Everything You Need to Know About the 2024 Edge Rusher Class29 Mar 202400:32:23
Edge rusher is arguably the strongest position on the Miami Dolphins depth chart. Still, the equation changes when considering the season-ending injuries Bradley Chubb and Jaelan Phillips suffered late in the 2023 NFL season. The Dolphins added Shaq Barrett on a one-year deal, but is it enough to keep the ship from sinking before Chubb and Phillips can return? Three edge players are considered as top 20 picks in the 2024 NFL Draft — Dallas Turner, Jared Verse, and Laiatu Latu. Would it be wise for general manager Chris Grier to keep investing in the unit if one of these players fell? We discuss! Another Dolphins Podcast is hosted by Joshua Houtz (@Houtz) and Jake Mendel (@JMendel94). Jake is joined by Cat (@BrianCatNFL) for this episode of ADP.
