Luis Alfaro is a Chicano playwright born and raised blocks from USC in the Pico-Union district of downtown Los Angeles. Luis is the Associate Artistic Director of Center Theatre Group, the resident theatre company of the Music Center of Los Angeles County, home of the Mark Taper Forum, Ahmanson Theatre and Kirk Douglas Theater. Luis is the recipient of a John D. and Catherine T. MacArthur Foundation Fellowship, popularly known as a “genius grant,” awarded to people who have demonstrated expertise and exceptional creativity in their respective fields.

Neil first came to prominence with a play that he wrote and later adapted for film, "In the Company of Men," which won awards from the Sundance Film Festival, the Independent Spirit Awards, and the New York Film Critics Circle. He has since worked on Broadway, in films & TV, primarily as a writer, director, and producer. City Garage produced his plays "Filthy Talk for Troubled Times" in 2012, "Break of Noon" in 2015 and "Four From 10x10 by Neil LaBute" online in 2021.
