| STORYTIME - The Construction Site Jerk-Off - Part 1 | 19 Feb 2025 | 00:30:20 | |
The return of a much requested STORYTIME from a number of years ago, prior to the big 'purge' of sexual content, that I have always regretted. This STORYTIME is from when I was just 19 years old and had taken a part-time job in construction. It tells of a little adventure that I got involved in during after hours drinking with a couple of the guys who were in their early 20's. This is Part 1 or a 3-part story. Part 2 will be on the air next week, with the brand-new Part 3 coming out a couple of weeks after that. I hope you enjoy the show. ** Please note that there is some sexual content in this story, so steer clear of it if you are offended by descriptive guy-on-guy sex **
| Wisdom As You Age | 03 Feb 2025 | 00:39:47 | |
I have always believed that one of the reasons I am still alive despite illnesses that were supposed to shorten my life, is because of my attitude and the way I look at the world. It is so easy in today's society to get all caught up in the day-to-day negative emotions that are a result of the ever-changing world and our discomfort and inability to change with it. I found a few items on the internet that are in keeping with my philosophy and way-of-life. I wanted to share some of these with you today, and comment on how a few have affected my mindset and quest for life. The Podcast has moved to a new home! | Senior Life Curse: Loneliness | 01 Sep 2020 | 00:25:05
One of the dangers of getting old is the possibility of losing friends and family and isolating yourself in desperation to try to avoid pain. This can deprive you of some wonderful years of your life. Others find the endless search for a life partner to be depressing and debilitating. It seems that no matter what you do, you find yourself alone. And being alone for any length of time, no matter who you are, will eventually lead to loneliness. Loneliness can be crippling. In this episode, I offer a few suggestions that might help you get started in breaking free from that solitude.

| I See Dead People - Part 2 - How to Embalm a Body | 14 Aug 2020 | 00:52:03 | |
In Part 2 of my 'I See Dead People' series, I thought it would be a good idea to tell you about what exactly happens when a body is embalmed. As we age, we will encounter the need to make arrangements for funerals, as well as visit them as a friend or relative. Should it fall on you to make the funeral arrangements, do you know what a loved one would really like for their final disposition? If you have no guidance by written wishes, you will need to make decisions that are difficult within a set amount of time to get all the arrangements in place. Embalm or Cremation? What does each really mean? I hope that this explanation will allow you to make a more informed decision. This episode is very graphic and deals with procedures done to the body.

| Let's Write A Novel - Part 1 | 22 May 2020 | 00:41:22 | |
Have you ever dreamed of writing the Great American (or wherever) Novel? Have you ever read a book and was disappointed and said 'Hey I could have written that better'? Well, here is your chance. Most of us are still locked up in our homes and have done just about everything to occupy our time. This is the PERFECT time to try out your writing skills. This episode (and Part 2 coming in a couple weeks) discusses my own method for writing my gay sports novel 'Northridge High Football Camp' and it's sequel 'The Guys of Northridge'. I can't say how other authors have produced their work, but the method that I used I think is a very learnable technique. So why not give it a try? In this Part 1, I talk about the genre of your book, about establishing your main characters and creating milestone scenes to bring your characters toward the conclusion of your story.
| Is Cheating The Price We Have To Pay To Have A Relationship? | 04 Mar 2020 | 00:46:25 | |
So many gay men have to deal with their boyfriend/partner/husband cheating on them. Sometimes it takes years to find out, and by then you might have gotten legally married, bought a house together, co-mingled bank accounts and/or adopted children together. When your lives are so entwined, the discovery of one of you cheating can be devastating to the other. Is monogamy realistic? Can you re-build trust after being lied to? Is a cheater always a cheater? In this episode I tell you a story from my own experience with a cheating boyfriend. I also read to you an email from a guy who is at wits end on what to do with his husband who may be cheating on him. I also asked a question of an online Gay Over 40 group, if they had been cheated on, were there tell-tale signs. I read you their responses. This is always a difficult subject and is the continuation of an ongoing discussion about gay relationships.

| Vacationing Alone | 05 Mar 2019 | 00:30:00 | |
Many of us older gay guys are single, and as we age, we might lose contact with friends through relocation, illness, death, arguments; a host of reasons. And that can lead to isolation and eventual depression. One of the ways that I have dealt with loneliness over the years, is that I learned how to travel by myself and enjoy the experiences many times more than if I had a traveling companion. Now traveling alone for some, is a very strange concept. Why would you want to be alone? Isn't the point of traveling to be able to enjoy the location, sights, dinners, memories etc. with someone else? Maybe. But what if you don't have a boyfriend/husband or friends that want to travel to some of the exotic places you always dreamed of going? Should you wait until you have a partner to travel with? (We aren't getting any younger!) Or, do we have to give up on ever going to those places? I want to tell you about a few of my experiences with circling the globe alone and the self-sufficiency I learned along the way.

| Why Are Young Gay Guys Such Dickwads ? | 13 Jan 2019 | 00:41:42 | |
The first episode of Season 4 comes via an email I received from a very nice gentleman in Australia. It has prompted a discussion on why young gay guys are so unkind and mean. As always, this is based on my opinions and my experience. I hope it can prompt some thoughts. | INTERVIEW - The Latest in Cosmetic Work for Guys with Kris Venezia - Part Two | 25 Sep 2018 | 00:44:19
This year's Sweeps Period concludes with the 2nd Part of my conversation with Kris Venezia about what is new in the areas of cosmetic work available for guys. This is not a suggestion or endorsement for you to run out and get cosmetic work, but for many older guys, especially those who have suffered from the effects of HIV and the powerful drugs that are taken to keep it at bay, this information is important. With some, it could even be life-saving, as the depression and isolation people often feel can take its toll on the psyche. In this second half, we discuss Cool Sculpting, Gastric Bypass and Hair Pieces (and those in Hollywood that wear them!) So sit back and enjoy this insider's look at the world of cosmetic work. ** This Sunday, September 30, 2018, is International Podcast Day and will be the announcement of the Winners of the 13th Annual People's Choice Podcast Awards. I am Nominated for 2 Podcast Awards: The LGBTQ Podcast Award and the Mature Podcast Award. Please tune-in LIVE on Sunday at 8:00 pm Eastern Time (5:00 pm Pacific Time) for the Announcement of the Winners. Go to PodcastAwards.com to view the Awards LIVE. Thanks !!! **
| Self-Doubt vs. Confidence - Impostor Syndrome | 16 Sep 2018 | 00:35:39 | |
At the request of a listener from British Columbia, Canada regarding his self-doubt as he takes a new position running a sports team, we look at two self-esteem philosophies: The Peter Principle and Impostor Syndrome. Now while these theories can be viewed as a negative source of esteem, when coupled with a more applicable and positive method of coping with self-esteem that we talk about in the second half of today's episode, we can assess our self-doubt easier when looking at this subject from various points of view. The episode concludes with a basic tenant of success that we can all apply in times of indecision and uncertainty. A Vintage TV Trivia Question is posed at the start of the show and the answer is given in the concluding minutes of the podcast. Thanks so much for joining me today ! - Joey

This serious episode is the second half of my series on Depression that started with the episode 'Depression: Emotional Eating'. Today I tell you about the serious danger that I was in due to depression after my parent's deaths. I discuss how my depression first surfaced, plans I had made to take my own life and treatment that I sought out to deal with my issues of grief. This episode is my personal experiences and opinions. Do not view this as any kind of therapy or professional guidance. If you feel you are depressed or if you ever have suicidal thoughts, please seek out professional help. I have been able to overcome my grief and relationship issues only through professional therapy and prescribed medications. This show is only my personal opinions.

| INTERVIEW - Michael Andor Brodeur - Swole: The Making of Men and the Meaning of Muscle | 08 Aug 2024 | 00:55:17 | |
As we continue with Sweeps Period 2024, I have a fascinating conversation with Michael Andor Brodeur, to discuss his new book Swole: The Making of Men and the Meaning of Muscle. Unbeknownst to me, Michael and I must have literally been circling around each other in Boston in the 1990's. We went to some of the same gyms, we went to the same nightclubs, we had common friends. And yet we did not know each other existed until this Interview. I thoroughly enjoyed myself as we reminisced about our childhoods and the vibrant gay life of Boston during that decade. Michael also traces our toys, cartoons and comics that started many of us young men thinking about guys with muscle. And we talk about the early days of Bodybuilding and how that shaped our lives. I think you will enjoy this topic.

It was valorous of Ron to tell his story, and as he mentions, it took over a decade to put the words together to properly tell the terrifying circumstances that befell him. Please listen as he tells us about his journey and the book that has become the end result. Angel Finally Found His Wings on AMAZON

A more serious look at Our Identity will be on the YouTube Channel for this podcast. The Channel name is An Older Gay Guy Show.
