Marcus Holzinger, Elegend Chairman & Designer, talks about his new Sport quattro-inspired EL1 Electric Car08 Dec 202201:05:40

When Marcus Holzinger revealed his new Elegend EL1, a modern and electric reinterpretation of the Audi Sport quattro, he turned a lot of heads. Initially, it was only going to be a promotional design to celebrate the 40th year of operation for Hote Design, a German design and modeling studio founded by his father who was a former designer at Audi. Hote had worked on the Sport quattro and many, many more Audis over the years, and the Sport quattro made for the perfect starting point for an idea that would eventually form to create a car company intent on reinterpeting iconic performance cars in a modern EV form. In October we visited the Hote studios and saw the car, which will be featured in the Q1_2023 issue of quattro Magazine. More recently, we caught up with Marcus to learn  about the Elegend project, his studio, his family history and more.

And, like a lot of stories for the magazine, digging deeper and learning more also makes for a compelling podcast. From Shop to Summit: Rayteam's Road to Pikes Peak in Two Audi S1 E2s | All-Wheel Driven - Episode 619 Jun 202500:48:33

From building a reputation as one of the Northeast’s top German automotive specialists to taking on one of motorsport’s most iconic challenges, Rayteam Automotive is proving passion and precision go a long way—especially when quattro is involved.

In this episode of All-Wheel Driven, host Zach Miller and Audi Club North America Executive Director Chris May sit down with Frank Ocsai and Ulisses Varela of Rayteam Automotive—and their dedicated racing division, Rayteam Motorsport—based in Waltham, MA. Since 2009, Rayteam has been synonymous with expert service and performance tuning for German marques. But their story doesn’t stop in the shop—because Rayteam Motorsport is channeling that expertise to the mountain.

After an awe-inspiring debut at the 2024 Pikes Peak International Hill Climb with an Audi quattro S1 E2, Rayteam is going even bigger in 2025, returning with two S1 E2s—joining what will be the largest Audi presence in Pikes Peak history.

We talk about what it takes to resurrect and race an Audi icon, the deep cultural and engineering ties that bind Audi to the mountain, and why Rayteam is committed to carrying that legacy into the clouds. It’s a conversation about passion, heritage, and the modern spirit of Audi performance—and with Rayteam back on the mountain this week for the 103rd running of Pikes Peak, there’s no better time to hear their story. You won’t want to miss this one.
