From 60 minutes to a feed full of shorts: how AI turns editing pain into growth
The Creator’s Dilemma You pour your energy into a great 60-minute recording—then spend hours scrubbing a timeline, hunting for hooks, cropping for vertical, adding captions, and patching in B-roll. By the time you export, you’re exhausted, not excited. Worse, you’re still guessing which clips will actually perform.
Opus Clip’s AI solution Opus Clip turns long-form into short-form at scale. Upload a 60-minute video and the AI transcribes, finds the strongest moments, ranks them for performance, reframes for vertical, adds captions, and suggests B-roll—so you can review, tweak, and publish multiple clips in minutes, not days.
Smart features that do the heavy lifting
- Virality Score ranking system: Segments are scored and sorted based on signals like hook strength, pacing, and on-screen activity, so you can prioritize the most promising clips first. It’s a data-informed shortcut to choosing winners.
- Auto-generated captions with dynamic highlights: Burned-in, on-brand captions with animated emphasis on key words to boost retention and accessibility. Edit any line before export.
- Automatic reframing for vertical video: Face/speaker tracking keeps the subject centered when converting to 9:16 (or 1:1/4:5), so your clips look native on Shorts, Reels, and TikTok.
- Auto B-roll suggestions: The AI matches transcript keywords and context to relevant stock or suggested cutaways to keep visuals fresh without manual searching.
How a 60-minute video becomes multiple scroll-stopping clips
- Upload or paste a link. Opus Clip ingests your YouTube/Zoom/local file and creates a transcript.
- Segment and rank. The AI detects topic shifts and highlights, then applies a Virality Score to each potential clip.
- Style and frame. Choose aspect ratio and caption style; the AI reframes shots to keep speakers in focus.
- Enrich with visuals. Review suggested B-roll and overlays; swap or fine-tune in a few clicks.
- Approve and export. Make quick trims, add your CTA, then download and publish to your channels.
