| #59 What AI Can't Do For Your Family with Danielle Matarasso | 17 juil. 2026 | 00:18:02 | |
What happens when the thing you built to save you time still needs you to catch its mistakes? Danielle Matarasso found out the hard way, over a school lunch order. Host Sarah Dooley sits down with Danielle Matarasso, founder of Numeriq Advisors and writer of the newsletter AI After Carpool, to talk about the day AI ordered her son a cookie instead of lunch. It starts as a funny mix-up and turns into a real conversation about where AI can lighten the load for parents and caregivers, and where it still needs a parent's judgment. Danielle and Sarah talk about the pull that led Danielle to leave a stable career in tech to build something of her own, the business she almost bought because AI kept agreeing with her, and how she keeps her kids' personal information out of the algorithm at home, even as she leans on it for family trip planning and age-appropriate activity ideas. They also get into what Danielle hopes and fears for her 3 kids growing up with AI as a normal part of life, a few ways to catch AI when it is just telling you what you want to hear, the AI tools actually in her weekly rotation, and a low-tech parenting hack that has nothing to do with AI at all. In This Episode:
If you have ever built a system to make family life easier and watched it half work, this episode is for you. Danielle's story is a reminder that AI can carry real weight in a busy household, but the judgment still belongs to the parent holding the calendar. Whether you are weighing a career pivot of your own or just trying to keep school lunches straight, there is something here to take with you. | #58 It's Not You (Your Priorities Are Just Misaligned) with Courtney Cecil | 26 juin 2026 | 00:18:11
There is a particular kind of exhaustion that comes from doing everything and still feeling like it is never enough. In this episode, host Sarah Dooley sits down with Courtney Cecil, founder of Working Moms Movement and host of The Life Management System podcast, to talk about why so much of the friction in family life traces back to one quiet question: what do you actually value? Courtney brings an industrial and systems engineering background to the parts of life that feel heaviest. She walks through her Three W's framework, what you value, what you prioritize, and what you spend, and shows how naming those three things can bring your time, money, and energy back into alignment. Along the way she reframes boundaries as something you build to protect what matters, not walls that keep people out, and she shares how she treats AI as a simple delegation tool that takes real decisions off her plate. If you have ever set a goal and kept breaking it, this conversation offers a kinder explanation and a clearer place to begin. As Courtney puts it, if everything is a priority, nothing is. When something keeps slipping, it usually means you are prioritizing something else, and that is allowed. | #57 Your Sunday Night Scaries, Solved, with Melissa Regan | 12 juin 2026 | 00:18:56
Sunday evening used to mean a couple of hours of planning for Melissa Regan: cookbooks spread across the counter, kids' schedules stacked up, a running list of things to figure out before Monday arrived. Now that same setup takes a fraction of the time, and the hours she reclaims go straight back to her family.
Melissa is an executive coach and consultant who works with leaders and sales teams on operations, communication, and business growth. She is also raising three boys at home, managing a household largely on her own during the weeks her husband travels for work. She did not come to AI with a tech background. She came to it as someone who needed to be efficient in the limited hours she works, and who wanted to actually be present when the workday ended.
In this conversation, Melissa and host Sarah Dooley dig into what that shift looked like in real life: the Sunday setup meeting Melissa holds for herself, how AI handles the planning she would rather not do, and how she consciously redirected the time it freed up toward board games, swim meets, and being on the sideline.
One idea from the conversation that may stick with you: Melissa draws on a concept from the book Essentialism, that if something is not a "hell yes," it is a no. But as she points out, parents do not always have the privilege of saying no. Meal planning has to happen. The calendar has to get organized. Her adaptation is simple: if it is not a hell yes, but it still has to get done, give it to AI.
This episode is for anyone who has stared down Sunday evening and felt the weight of everything that has to happen before the week can start.
What we talk about: • The Sunday setup meeting and what it used to cost her • Using AI for meal planning, packing lists, gift ideas, and calendar coordination • The "not a hell yes but it has to be done" principle for deciding what to hand off • How she uses AI with her own coaching clients in live sessions • Consciously reallocating saved time to presence with her family • What an AI-empowered future could look like for parents who feel stretched thin
Timestamps: • [00:00] The Sunday scaries and why they hit so hard • [00:50] Meet Melissa: three boys, a dog, and a business built around her family schedule • [02:37] How AI changed her professional workflow first • [04:56] Her consultative coaching philosophy and bringing AI into client sessions • [07:07] Prompting approaches and why iteration beats perfection • [09:37] Where AI made the biggest difference: home life • [10:14] The Sunday setup meeting, before and after • [11:40] Essentialism 2.0: if it is not a hell yes, but it has to happen, give it to AI • [12:35] More use cases: outfits, packing, gift planning • [13:08] Where the saved time actually goes: presence with her family • [14:12] What an AI-empowered future could mean for stretched parents • [15:56] Chatbot Mode: morning routines, how she resets, advice for her past self

| #56 Your Life Has a Lot of Tabs Open: AI as a Second Brain with Toni Toomey | 05 juin 2026 | 00:28:36 | |
AI might already be helping you with meals, trips, reminders here and there. But what if it could do more? What if AI could hold the whole context of your life, your family's food restrictions, your career goals, your startup pitch, even your partner's job search, so you don't have to carry it all in your head?
Toni Toomey is the founder of Hone, a premium postpartum apparel brand launching this September, and a full-time healthtech professional at Virgo. She recently relocated cross-country from North Idaho to San Diego with her toddler daughter, and she uses AI as her second brain across every part of her life.
In this episode, Toni walks through exactly how she does it. She explains her meal planning setup: a Saturday morning agent that pulls from a Notion recipe library, applies her family's real preferences and restrictions, and generates a ready-to-use grocery list. She shares how she built an automated job search system for her husband after a layoff, one that scored daily matches and delivered customized resumes and cover letters straight to his inbox. She talks about the founding of Hone, which started with a board meeting, a pump, and a dress that would not cooperate. And she makes a case for AI literacy as one of the most important things parents can invest in right now, not to optimize their productivity, but to stay close enough to understand the world their children are growing up inside of.
CHAPTERS 01:21 Moving cross-country with a toddler: chaos, grace, and a missing kettle base 03:27 Before and after AI: how the mental load shifted 05:33 Meal planning with AI: context files, Notion recipe library, and a Saturday morning agent 08:47 What is a markdown file and why structured context makes AI smarter 10:47 Automating a spouse's job search: daily scored matches, custom resumes, and cover letters 14:05 How her husband went from zero AI experience to building automations in four months 14:34 Women, AI, and why the gender gap in tech no longer has a gate 17:45 The board meeting pumping moment that started Hone 21:38 Hone: Italian-made, natural fibers, rental program, and certified secondhand 23:26 Chatbot Mode: pumping at work tips, the one task she will never hand to AI, and surfing with a toddler 27:57 What Toni wants every parent to take away

| #55 The Mom Guilt Equation (And How to Solve It) with JoAnn Crohn | 29 mai 2026 | 00:27:07 | |
Have you ever thought about where "mom guilt" actually comes from? JoAnn Crohn, founder of No Guilt Mom, references Dr. Jennifer Reid's "guilt equation" to help decode it: your expectations of what a good mom looks like, minus what you are actually able to do on any given day, and that gap is where your guilt lives. The fix is not to do more. It is to look carefully at where those expectations came from in the first place.
JoAnn is the host of the No Guilt Mom podcast, author of The Best Mom is a Happy Mom, a former fifth grade teacher, a recovered entertainment industry assistant, and a newly minted improv performer. In this conversation, she and Sarah talk about the shift from martyr to model, the two rules of improv that also happen to be life rules, and the surprisingly practical ways JoAnn uses AI to run a one-woman business without burning out. CHAPTERS 01:05 Welcome, JoAnn Crohn of No Guilt Mom 01:24 Life right now: daughter just graduated high school 02:43 Why teenagers are JoAnn's favorite stage of parenting 03:23 Fifth grade teaching and catching kids at the transition 04:15 Why JoAnn left teaching and built something of her own 05:41 Surviving a high-pressure Hollywood talent agency 06:05 Postpartum depression and the moment that changed everything 08:57 The best mom is a happy mom: where the philosophy came from 09:43 From martyr to model: what martyrdom actually feels like from the inside 11:12 Starting improv to reclaim her own adventure 12:27 The two rules of improv every parent should know 13:42 How "yes, and" changes conversations with kids 14:36 The guilt equation explained with Dr. Jennifer Reid's work 16:11 Dad guilt, mom guilt, and why the bar is set so differently 17:45 How JoAnn uses Claude and ChatGPT in her one-woman business 19:35 Building an Airtable automation with AI and no coding background 21:03 Where to find JoAnn and her free Calm Conversations mini-course 22:29 Chatbot Mode: AI tips, advice for high school seniors, and the myth about mom guilt

| #54 Can AI Write Your Resume? Here's What A 3X Certified Resume Writer Wants You To Know with Emily Kapit | 15 mai 2026 | 00:25:15 | |
If you've ever stared at your resume and thought "wasn't AI supposed to be able to help me with this?" -- this episode is for you.
Career strategist, career resilience expert, and triple certified master resume writer Emily Kapit of Refresh Your Step joins host Sarah Dooley to talk through the real dos and don'ts of using AI for your career documents. Emily and her team work with clients through The Kapitalize Process, a methodology covering everything from written career assets to interview strategies and negotiation tactics (and she has strong opinions about where AI belongs in that process).
Emily shares her approach to AI as a force multiplier: a way to pull out what's already there, find the gaps you can't see on your own, and build a stronger, more intentional job search.
We also hit a genuine split decision: Emily says keep AI out of salary negotiations. Sarah says she uses it heavily. We leave it to you to decide for yourself.
Whether you're actively job searching, re-entering the workforce after a caregiving break, or just trying to figure out how much to trust AI with something as personal as your career, this episode is grounded, practical, and honest.
Emily's insights have been featured in Forbes, The Atlanta Journal-Constitution, Medium, HuffPost, and MindBodyGreen. She is also currently working on her first book, Sink or Swim: The Life-Changing Strategies for Career Resilience.

Wanjiku Kamau did exactly that, and she did it in 90 days, with AI helping her find her voice every step of the way. Wanjiku is a tech veteran, fractional COO, AI consultant, and now a published author. | #51 AI vs. the Kids Activity Chaos with JustLiv founder Nicole Hamlin | 24 avr. 2026 | 00:13:02
Every summer, the spreadsheets come out. Color-coded, multi-tab, shared-by-text-message calendars that somehow still miss a school closure or a registration deadline. This week on , host Sarah Dooley sits down with Nicole Hamlin, the Austin-based founder of JustLiv, a platform built to take kids' activity scheduling off the list of things parents have to manage manually.
Nicole spent 17 years in IT services before founding JustLiv after hitting a wall planning her daughter Olivia's first summer outside of full-time daycare. She discovered that while plenty of directories existed, nothing actually helped a parent build a personalized, bookable schedule with real-time updates. JustLiv is changing that, using AI to match activities to a family's schedule, budget, location preferences, and kids' interests, all in one place.
In this episode, Sarah and Nicole talk about:

What if the real problem isn't that you don't have time for yourself, but that you've never been given permission to want it? This week, host Sarah Dooley sits down with Christine Landis, creator of Peacock Parent and Proxy, for one of the most honest conversations the podcast has had about self-care, mental load, and what your time is actually worth. Christine is a founder, a parent, a partner, and a self-described recovering workaholic who sold her fintech company, stopped, got quiet for the first time in years, and built something entirely new from that experience. What came out of it is a framework, and a tool, for parents and caregivers who are ready to stop doing it all alone. In this episode, you will hear: Why "I could do it myself" is the exact sentence keeping so many of us stuckWhat a weekly 50-minute planning appointment with your partner can actually unlockHow to identify your low joy tasks and start letting them go without guiltWhat opportunity cost really means when applied to your home life, not just your careerWhat burnout, resentment, and the "is this it?" feeling really have in commonWhy we delegate at work without guilt and so often resist it at homeWhy a recent Harvard Business Review study found women are slower to adopt AI, and what Christine thinks is the real reasonWhat Proxy is, how it works, and why it might be the thinking partner you didn't know you neededHow to start small: even texting "I feel overwhelmed and don't know where to begin" is enough Christine also talks about adult coloring as her current anxiety management practice, the Steamboat ski trip where she and her husband looked at each other through their goggles and just knew, and her daughter's upcoming birthday surprise: a pink castle mural painted on her bedroom wall. | #46 AI Fails and Fun Abroad: Traveling with AI and Dr. Caitlin Sutton | 13 mars 2026 | 00:24:27
What happens when three adult sisters and their dad pack up their AI tools and head to Ireland to trace their roots? Spoiler: some of it is magical, some of it is genuinely terrifying, and all of it is honest. In this episode, host Sarah Dooley sits down with her sister, Dr. Caitlin Sutton, for one of the most personal and laugh-out-loud conversations the podcast has had. Caitlin is an obstetric, pediatric, and maternal fetal anesthesiologist who shows up for some of the most intense moments in families' lives. She is also a self-described non-planner who does not enjoy travel logistics and cannot drive on the left side of the road. Which made her the perfect travel companion for a trip where AI was doing a lot of the heavy lifting. Together, Sarah and Caitlin walk through the real AI wins and real AI fails from their family trip to Ireland, including itineraries that led them to storytelling caretakers and unexpected courthouse tours, a one-lane cliff road on the Wild Atlantic Way that was fully enveloped in fog, and the moment Sarah quietly put on her shoes in the backseat just in case things went off the rails. They also talk about how AI helped Caitlin figure out how to contribute to a trip she did not plan, the poem she wrote at their first pub, the playlist that kept everyone going on long driving days, and the car dealership visit where a quick AI check cut her bill by more than half. This episode is for anyone who has ever felt both grateful for and skeptical of AI at the same time. It is a reminder that AI does not have to be perfect to be useful, and that keeping a human in the loop, and a sense of humor, makes all the difference. Topics covered in this episode:
