Spooky Shetland 2025 - Ghost Stories
Episode 16
samedi 29 novembre 2025 • Duration 35:55
Thank you for your patience on this one!
After many technical problems since recording back in October, at long last I’m pleased to finally be presenting a selection of Ghost Stories from Shetland.
Most of these stories are from Yell and Fetlar, and there is definitely a bias towards the north isles in the written record of Shetland folklore, largely due to the work of Jessie Saxby and Laurence Tulloch who came from Unst and Yell respectively and predominantly recorded the stories from their local areas.

Goturm the Dane - Patreon Special
Episode 14
mardi 12 novembre 2024 • Duration 01:21:05
We're heading further into winter in Shetland, which means many folk around the isles are getting deeper into their preparations for Up Helly Aa.
This festival has evolved into a celebration of our islands' Viking heritage, and you can learn more about it here:
https://youtu.be/s0BhejPp2zg?si=vATcOjhsuugpIHSJ
With that in mind, I thought telling this Viking story from Unst - the Tale of Goturm the Dane - would be fun.
