Episode 4 Distraction is not your enemy28 août 202600:25:01

Come with me to a place where you can truly be yourself:

Explore the Natural State of Wonder Meditation Course

Thought distraction was YOUR enemy, Your massive problem stopping you from meditating especially because you’re neuro divergent?  Ha ! I’m here to tell you it’s not.

thinking is what the mind does is - so no need to go to war with your mind - our wonderful minds are naturally vivacious and expressing the energy of love and being alive - in essence a beautiful unstoppable force.

Can’t help feeling like you’re failing at meditation because it feels like your mind has other plans!  When you rewrite the script and know that coming back to presence from a place a distraction is where you really learn the difference between ruminating and being present - that’s a precious moment then / definely not something to get frustrated by - it’s quite the contrary.

You could say the more distracted the better !

what's actually beautiful about it happening is that the moment we realise it's happened, that is a moment of pure awareness. We know we're connected. And in fact, being distracted, it feels so different to being present that it's kind of like a really great practice, really great for our practice, to see the difference really clearly.

And in fact, you could say that is the whole of what practice is. It is learning to know when we're present and know when we're not present. And know that thoughts, we can be present with thoughts, we can be utterly present with thoughts. so thoughts are not the enemy here.

Getting clear on that is really an essential, fundamental part of knowing what meditation is, learning to be a meditator. So distraction isn't the enemy because distraction actually teaches us clearly. It says, you know, this, we can clearly say, ah, when I was distracted, thinking thinking about stuff, and was so carried away, I was no longer here.

I wasn't in the here and now anymore. I was off somewhere else. And we can clearly, clearly see that that is very different to being present.

Now, being present might be being present to thoughts. Not just  one thought coming going, but many thoughts. Later down the road, we can be present, clearly present and be and intentionally think and stay with presence through the thought process for longer than a second, eventually, you know, for I mean, the end practice, the end goal is to be connected to awareness 24 hours a day.

That is correct. You heard correct. You heard it here first, maybe.

But even whilst asleep, some practitioners can be present, i.e, they can have lucid dreams. I mean, I don't know what, when they're in deep sleep, non-dream sleep, it's claimed there also can be connected to awareness. Interesting, far out, what the hell does that look like?

For me, that's not to worry about. I trust, maybe I'm a gullible fool, but I trust there are people out there that can have a depth of practice like that.

But basically, we are taking steps towards having awareness, being connected to the mind that knows, for as much of our day as possible. That's we can gamify this. We can kind of, you could go on a walk and you can say, I'm going to be present to everything, my whole experience throughout this walk, and I'm going to count that, of course, that's not going to happen, but I'm going to count the times that I've noticed that those pure awareness moments, oh I've noticed I wasn't present there.

I slipped off somewhere into distraction, but now I'm back that's to count one and we count like that. And it might happen a hundred times, thousand times that we notice. And that is strengthening our practice.

So that is almost a moment of rejoicing rather than some time to kick yourself or be down on yourself that you've got distracted. No, is a moment of pure awareness. Ah, I was distracted, past tense.

Whole point is, I am now connected again, reconnected, and I now have another moment to clarify in my head what being present is as opposed being distracted.

Announcing ADHD Perfect Tangle Podcast30 juil. 202600:03:00

So hello, Delighted to be announcing my podcast.

we're going to be talking all things ADHD and meditation.

As I like to say, and it dispels a myth, you don't need ADHD to meditate, but it helps.

Yes, guys, it helps, it really does. Because, being uber human.

Really feeling things,is where this style of meditation, absolutely flourishes: In that territory.

So not shying away from our feelings, not looking away from our thoughts, however, kind of bold and brave they are. Ugly or brash, or scintillatingly beautiful

We can look at it all with this style of meditation.

So, each week we'll be taking on a different topic.

And let me just say here that all topics like

perfectionism

rejection sensitivity,

emotional dysregulation

all of those things we'll look at, and we'll see how they are not obstacles to meditation, and how meditation can help, although it is not a quick fix or a magic bullet.

We don't want to drift into the realms of toxic positivity here. We're going to be realists.

We're working with what is.

We're not pretending to be superhuman. So come with me. We can here is this place, you can completely be yourself.
