Friday, what a day! A very full day as we crammed quali in and somehow dodged the thunderstorms that surrounded Lap Paradise RC Raceway. That meant I ran out of time to record yesterday, so just a quick reflection trackside Saturday morning to update on Friday's key points.

Seeding day, rain interruptions, making speed differently. It's a quick reflection on Thursday's seeding rounds at Lap Paradise RC.

It's an experiment, recording a daily podcast trackside here at the second round of the Asian Buggy Championships. It's raw and unedited, and you can hear the noise of leaf blowers and a brewing thunderstorm in the background. Still it's an interesting chat with Caleb Noble, casting an eye over a few days of open practice, ahead of tomorrow's official start to the event.

Managing a world-championship-winning machine, like Team Associated, is no mean feat. The man with the responsibility is Brent Thielke, and Brent joined me for in the commentary booth during 4WD practice at the 1/10th Offroad IFMAR Worlds at Hills Offroad RC in Sydney. We chatted about the event itself, what it takes to manage the team, working with new EP Buggy and now 4WD World Champ Marcus Kaerup, and plenty more. The word "Legend" is sometimes over-used...but not in the case of today's guest. Chris Sturdy has won a ridiculous number of races, including 10 Australian Championships in EP Offroad - marking him as one of the winning-est drivers in Aus RC history - and he's still in his prime. He stood on the Worlds podium twice, took Tamiya on the road to a serious assault on the racing scene, won a European Championship in the Schumacher TopCat, helped bring UK racing to the World Stage in the halcyon days of the mid-late 1980s and worked in the industry with name such as HPI, LRP, HongNor and now runs SMD Distribution. Double World Champ Jared Tebo is back on the show as we continue our extended conversation. There aren't too many R/C racers who've stood on a Worlds podium with a car powered by their own motors and batteries. Rick Hohwart is one such racer. What does it take to win an IFMAR World Championship? Join us as we chat to a man who knows better than most - two time World Champ Joel "Magic" Johnson. Joel grew up racing 1/12th on-road, came oh-so-close to winning the big one in that category before switching across to off-road in 1987 and nailing it at the first attempt. He'd get it done again, this time on tarmac a few years later in 1992. In this first episode with Joel we work our way from the 70's through to the 90's, taking in local, national and international racing, meeting some of the legends of the sport and classic cars along the way.
