Daniele Bolelli is a writer, martial artist, and university professor. He was born in Italy and currently lives in Los Angeles.

 

His first solo book, "La Tenera Arte del Guerriero," was published when Bolelli was 22 years old. This work, which is a philosophical exploration of martial arts, went on to become a cult classic in Italy even outside the confines of martial arts circles.

 

His second book entitled "iGod: Istruzioni per l’Uso di una Religione Fai da Te" was published in Italy in 2011. This wild ride through comparative religion will be released in the United States in early 2013. Bolelli’s third book, "50 Things You’re Not Supposed To Know: Religion," was published in the United States in December 2011. Some of the most influential thinkers to have affected his world view include Tom Robbins, Friedrich Nietzsche, Ikkyu Sojun, Thomas Paine, Henry David Thoreau, Lao Tzu, and Heraclitus.

 

After graduating from UCLA with a B.A. in Anthropology, and earning graduate degrees at UCLA (in American Indian Studies) and CSULB (History), Bolelli began teaching at several colleges in Southern California. 

 

Bolelli was featured in "I Am Bruce Lee" which broke Spike TV’s rating record for documentaries. He has appeared as a guest on popular podcasts such as Duncan Trussell’s, Adam Carolla’s, and Joe Rogan’s.

Brady founded Triple B Adventure, a nonprofit focusing on improving veterans' mental health through outdoor adventures and backpacking, camping, hunting, and fishing. Brady has built a stoic philosophy-based coaching and personal development program, and currently studies and specializes in the use of stoic philosophy to enhance cognitive function of everyday citizens and personnel in various military branches, law enforcement agencies, tactical industries to enhance their lives and the decisions that they make within them.

Donald Robertson is a writer, cognitive-behavioural psychotherapist and trainer.

Donald specializes in teaching evidence-based psychological skills, and known as an expert on the relationship between modern psychotherapy (CBT) and classical Greek and Roman philosophy. He was born in Irvine, Scotland, and grew up in Ayr.  He worked as a psychotherapist for about twenty years in London, England, where he ran a training school for therapists, before emigrating to Canada in 2013 to focus on his writing and training courses. He now divides his time between Greece and Canada.

He is an experienced public speaker.  His therapy practice specialised for many years in helping clients with social anxiety and self-confidence issues.  His work, and that of his colleagues, has often featured in the media of different countries, including ForbesThe Wall Street Journal, the BBC, etc.

Olympic gold medalist Anthuan Maybank is hard to keep up with both on and off the track. He has proven his drive, adaptability, and time management skills in many ways over the course of his career, but his greatest strength lies in his ability to consistently motivate those around him.

 

His dedication to track and field elevated him to the world stage, winning gold at the 1995 World University Games in the 200 meter dash and 4x400 meter relay. He then took home gold again at the 1996 Olympic Games in the 4x400 meter relay.

 

Despite a packed schedule, Anthuan has not only concentrated on his own personal goals but has continually strived to improve the communities around him. He serves as the co-chair of the Marketing Committee for the National Academy of Finance benefiting youth college preparation at Howard High School. Through his business, Champion Body Strength Training, he has created a program to motivate youth called Building Outgoing Dynamic Youth (BODY). Furthermore, he leads week-long track programs for underprivileged youth at the St. Croix International Coaching Seminar and Clinic in the U.S. Virgin Islands and the Native Vision Sports and Life Skills Camp on the Navaho Reservation in Farmington, New Mexico.

NANETTE WARD: A Warrior Fighting Against the Modern-Day Slavery of Human Trafficking02 Mar 202201:02:14

In order to overcome our own adversity, we must be willing to reach out and support others. This week on Acta Non Verba Nannette Ward shares the impact that human trafficking is having on our culture and how we can identify the signs that it’s happening around us, as well as what to do about it. During this conversation we will discuss how individuals become victims of human trafficking, how social media has a positive and negative impact on human trafficking, and what to do if you see indicators of abuse when you’re out in public.

 

Nannette Ward is a 2008 founding member of the Stop Human Trafficking Coalition of Central Missouri. She has been an active volunteer for the past 12 years, involved in various aspects of the Coalition’s work, including community education and direct support to survivors. Currently, she serves as board co-chair. She also serves on the Missouri Attorney General’s anti-trafficking task force since her appointment in 2007.
