Abubakar-Sadiq Zakariyya (full name Abubakar Muhammad Zakaria Mojumder) is a Quran reciter, Islamic scholar, and media personality from Bangladesh, born in 1969.
He primarily recites in the Hafs ‘an Asim narration and is also known for his ability to discuss Islam across various media. Digital Qur’anic archives feature recordings of his recitations, and his “Tafsir Zakaria” has been published by the King Fahad Printing Press in Saudi Arabia.
Abubakar-Sadiq Zakariyya received his early education from his father and furthered his studies at Government Madrasah-e-Alia in Bangladesh. He later gained admission to the Islamic University of Madinah, where he studied Shariah and specialized in Aqeedah, completing his PhD on comparative theology.
Upon returning to Bangladesh, he joined Islamic University, Bangladesh (IU) as a lecturer in the Department of Fiqh, where he is now a professor. He is also a founding member of Kulliyatul Qur’anil Karim Wad-Dirasatil Islamiyah. Beyond academia, he is a prominent Islamic speaker who features on various Bangladeshi television channels and gives sermons at Islamic gatherings. He has authored several popular books in Arabic and Bengali, which are also part of the curriculum in public higher studies in Bangladesh.
