The Magick That Holds Everything Together30 Mar 202600:25:57

Most of us are keeping up with our lives reasonably well, and yet something still feels slightly off, and we can experience a low-level sense of being stretched, or of running alongside your own life rather than truly inside it.

This episode explores why that happens, why the way we've been taught to think about self-care so often makes it worse, and what it actually means to build a life that genuinely supports you from the inside out.

Permission to Play: Witchcraft, Wisdom, and Remembering You Were Always Magickal13 Feb 202601:22:15

In today's episode, I'm, joined by Maisie as we talk about labels, lineage, witchcraft, druidry, play, grief, learning, motherhood, ageing, and the quiet rebellion of choosing joy and wonder in a world that often tells us to grow up, get sensible, and stop believing in magick.

In this episode we explore:
Do I call myself a witch? And what does that even mean?

Maisie asks about labels. About the word witch. About hesitation, responsibility, history, and whether claiming a title feels empowering or heavy.

I share my own relationship with the word, including its modern reclamation, its painful history as an accusation rather than an identity, and why I still choose to stand in it openly. Not because everyone should, but because visibility creates permission.

We also talk about why some people feel more at home with words like druid, eclectic, or hedge, and why none of these need to be fixed forever.

Structure, rhythm, and why we crave them after religion

Maisie reflects on how A Pinch of Magick and the app provide structure without dogma, especially for those who’ve stepped away from organised religion.

We talk about why humans need rhythm. Why cycles like the moon, seasons, and daily practices anchor us. And how magick can offer routine without control, and reverence without fear.

The witch wound and the weight of history

We speak candidly about the witch wound. About fear, grief, and the reality that witchcraft accusations were rarely about power or wisdom, and far more often about vulnerability, misogyny, poverty, and control.

I share reflections from historical research on cunning folk, muttering women, court records, and why the word witch still carries such emotional charge today.

Divination as humanity’s oldest instinct

From marbles in a childhood box to red skies and shepherds’ warnings, we explore divination not as fortune-telling, but as humanity’s oldest way of making meaning.

We talk about tarot, oracles, entrails, medicine, economics, and how prediction, pattern-reading, and intuition have always been part of everyday life.

Root Essence and living by an inner compass

Maisie shares her experience of the Root Essence course (available in the app) and discovering her guiding phrase: magickal play.

We talk about how knowing your root essence becomes a decision-making compass, especially when you’re prone to overthinking, self-judgement, or taking life too seriously.

Ageing, cronehood, and second adolescences

Our conversation turns to age, menopause, crone energy, and the relief of no longer needing permission.

We talk about midlife as a second adolescence. A time of rebellion, wisdom, sovereignty, and deep discernment. A moment where life doesn’t narrow, but clarifies.

.

Everyday magick and reclaiming the mundane

From birthday candles and tooth fairies to hoovering with intention, we talk about how magick was never separate from daily life until it was made so.

We explore how ordinary moments become sacred when approached symbolically. Cleaning. Cooking. Writing. Walking. Lighting a candle. Releasing energy.

Whimsy as survival

Maisie shares how embracing play, fandom, costuming, travel, and creative joy has become a form of resilience in a heavy world.

We talk about holding rage in one hand and whimsy in the other. About joy as nourishment and bout choosing wonder as an act of quiet rebellion.

Today's episode reminds you that if you’ve ever made a wish, noticed a sign, played pretend, or felt awe at the world around you, you were already participating in magick.

2.3 The World as a Mirror: Learning from the Energies Around You12 Nov 202300:37:56

Oh, life, what a mysterious dance it is!

You plan, you strategise, and just when you think you’ve got it all figured out, whoosh! Everything changes.

But here’s a little secret: sometimes, it's not about the stars above, but about the ground beneath our feet, the walls around us, the very air we breathe.

Today, we're embarking on a fascinating exploration. It's about how the energies around us – be it the earth under our garden, the corners of our homes, or even the seats of our cars – are not just inanimate spaces. They're alive, pulsating with energy that impacts us in ways more profound than we often realise.

Have you ever felt a sudden shift in your mood when you enter a particular space? I experienced this in my own garden. A place of solace suddenly felt unsettling. It wasn't just a change within me but a transformation in the land's energy. It's a subtle dance between us and the world around us, a dance of give and take.

And what about our homes? Ah, the stories they hold in each room. Have you noticed how clearing out a cluttered space seems to declutter your mind too? Or how a simple act like cleaning a mirror can bring new perspectives into focus? It's not just tidying up; it's an act of shifting energies, of making room for new thoughts and feelings.

But it's not just about the spaces we inhabit. Think about the car you drive, the office where you work. Every space demands something from us, but what if we could change that dynamic? What if we could make these spaces sources of energy, not just recipients of it?

And then, there's the magick and mirrors of synchronicities – those little moments of coincidence that are anything but random. They're the universe’s way of whispering to us, a subtle language of signs and signals that guide and nudge us in directions we never expected.

So, how do we navigate this rich, energetic tapestry? How do we tune in to these subtle energies and interpret their messages?

Join me on this journey, where we'll delve into the art of listening not just with our ears, but with our entire being. Together, we'll learn to interpret the silent dialogue between us and our surroundings. By the end of our time together, you’ll find yourself in a deeper conversation with the world around you, a dialogue rich with insights and wisdom.

Let's embark on this adventure of discovery, where every space tells a story, and every moment is a lesson waiting to be unravelled.

Giving voice and breaking silence through writing - An Interview with Lucy H. Pearce 28 Sep 202301:10:05

**PLEASE NOTE: Today's episode contains adult themes and occasional language some might find offensive**

Today on the A Pinch of Magick podcast I'm joined by Lucy H Pearce, an author, artist, and founder of Womancraft Publishing.

We start off talking about how Lucy first got into writing. It's a story that many of you might find familiar—a need to express, to connect, to make sense of the world. Lucy shares how writing became her way of doing just that, and how it evolved into something much bigger than she could ever have anticipated.

Then we get into the heart of what happens when you suppress that creative urge. Lucy's been there, and she talks about the toll it takes. It's a bit like holding your breath; at some point, you've got to let it out.

Sharing your most honest work can be terrifying. Lucy knows this all too well, and she shares how she learned to get more comfortable with it. It's about finding that balance between vulnerability and strength, and she's got some tips that could help you do just that.

Lucy explains that each book she brings into the world is like stepping out of her comfort zone abit more. It's a challenge, but one that she leans into, and she tells us why.

We also touch on something a bit heavier—the sense of danger Lucy has felt in her own body when tackling certain topics. It's a reminder that creating a safe space for yourself is crucial, especially when you're pushing your own boundaries.

Now, why is the feminine so often linked with darkness, with things that are considered 'bad'? Lucy and I delve into this, breaking down some of the cultural narratives that have shaped these beliefs. She believes that one of the biggest gifts she can give the world is breaking that silence, giving voice to those things that have been silenced or kept in the shadows.

What does success look like to you? Lucy urges us to define that for ourselves, to step away from what society tells us it should be. It's about stepping into your own truth, and she's got some thoughts on how you can do that.

We discuss Lucy's latest book, The Kitchen Witch Companion, and how it's more than just a collection of recipes. Lucy describes it as a journey into reclaiming our power, our magick, and our true hunger and desires. She also explains what magick means to her.

We wrap up with a discussion about evidence, the importance of 'noticing,' and why life is never really 'done.' It's a constant process of change and evolution, and Lucy's next book, Crow Moon, is a testament to that.

By the end of our chat, you'll walk away with not just answers to some big questions, but also a toolkit for navigating your own path.

So, are you ready to dive in?

This episode of the A Pinch of Magick podcast, is all about embracing the wild, the sacred, and that deep-seated longing we all experience at some point.

Pull up your cosiest blanket, grab that cup of tea, and join us as we delve deep into:

  • The magick of daily practices and devotion – and why these rituals might just be the lifebuoy you need.
  • The art of longing and the treasures it can reveal about our true selves.
  • Wendy’s intimate journey of self-discovery.
  • That heart-wrenching pain of abandoning yourself and how to find your way back home.
  • Navigating the murky waters of grief and despair with sacred practices as your compass.
  • The "brilliant sanity" in our stories and the courage to let them go when they no longer serve.
  • And, my personal favourite, embracing our wild nature and unlocking parts of ourselves we've hidden away.

Stop Forcing It: The Power of Seasonal and Lunar Manifestation Cycles23 Jun 202500:35:47

You don’t always have to be manifesting, you’re allowed to live the cycle.

In this episode of The Manifestation Series, we step away from the productivity trap and return to nature’s sacred timing. Discover how to align your manifestation practice with the rhythm of the seasons, the lunar phases, and your inner energetic cycles, so your desires grow not through pressure, but through presence.

In this episode, we explore:

The Solar Path – Manifesting with the Wheel of the Year

Learn how each of the 8 sabbats carries a unique energetic signature and how to plant, nourish, and harvest your intentions in sync with the land’s rhythm.

Cyclical Manifestation & Inner Seasons

Learn how your inner rhythm mirrors the Earth’s, and how to stop forcing yourself to bloom when you’re in a winter phase.

Lunar Living for Long-Term Manifestation

Move beyond basic moon rituals.

This is about living the lunar path, each month a new container, each phase a checkpoint. Anchor your intentions with the waxing, blooming, waning, and resting phases of the Moon.

Chronos vs Kairos Time

Reframe time itself: Linear productivity (Chronos) vs Sacred timing (Kairos). Discover how manifestation thrives when you embrace divine timing over deadlines.

If you’ve ever burned out trying to “stay high vibe” or blamed yourself when a manifestation didn’t land, this episode offers a new reframe: You’re not behind, you’re simply in a season.

This is the magick of manifestation rooted in Earth, Moon, and body. It’s not about control, it’s about co-creation.

This Episode is Perfect for You If:

  • You feel called to deepen your seasonal or lunar practices
  • You’re tired of hustling to manifest and want a more intuitive approach
  • You’re craving structure with soul
  • You want to honour your personal cycles
  • You’re seeking energetic alignment

In Our Next episode…

Feeling out of sync with the world? You're not alone.

Episode 7: “When You’re Out of Sync” explores how to stay magickal when your internal season doesn’t match the external world. Whether you’re grieving in spring or blooming in winter, we’ll talk about honouring your truth, moving through energetic dissonance, and detaching without giving up.

Subscribe now so you don’t miss it.

Descent and Rising: The Embodiment of Inanna - An Interview with Carly Mountain07 Jul 202301:05:08

Today on the A Pinch of Magick podcast I'm joined by Carly Mountain author of Descent & Rising: Women’s Stories & the Embodiment of the Inanna Myth, and we're about to embark on a captivating journey, unpacking the myth of Inanna and the timeless wisdom it offers.

Settle in and let's get started!

Today, we dive deep into the ancient story of Inanna and explore how this myth can serve as a powerful guide to navigate the complexities of life. Carly shares her own experience of finding a myth that mirrored her life and provided a map for her journey.

We delve into the profound narrative of Inanna, from the goddess's initiation and descent, to her triumphant rise - a testament to the resilience and power of the feminine.

Every journey needs witnesses, and Carly underlines the significance of having people to share and affirm our experiences. We explore the concept of 'rising rooted in our darkness' and the transformative power of choice.

Life is an ever-changing landscape, and returning to 'normal' after significant change or loss can be challenging. Carly sheds light on how to navigate this process, shedding ideals that no longer serve you and making peace with changes in relationships as you evolve.

Throughout our conversation, we address important themes such as truth-telling (especially to ourselves), the power of grieving in company, and understanding who we are beneath societal roles and expectations.

Carly encourages us to remember that our bodies are keepers of memories and shares her insights on 'descent' as a form of initiation into self-discovery. We explore the Inanna myth as an ancient map of trauma healing and initiation as a homecoming, a return to our bodies.

The conversation evolves to discuss recognising our natural limits, reframing notions of 'should', and acknowledging shame. Carly shares practical advice on how to determine when to seek help and how to undertake the process of rewilding yourself.

We delve into changing our relationships with 'sky gods' and ideas of power, navigating the delicate balance between authenticity and overexposure, and the importance of self-care and saying 'no'.

The episode is rife with gems of wisdom, like the power of saying 'Can I get back to you?' and the liberating realisation that often when you think you're being 'selfish', you actually need to become more so.

We conclude our conversation by exploring the patterns playing out in your life, the courage of questioning your fears, and the art of increasing your capacity for pleasure.

So, are you ready to join us on this enchanting journey? Find your most comfortable spot, brew a cup of your favourite tea, and let's discover the magick within the myth of Inanna.

Xo Rebecca

Home to Her - An Interview with Liz Childs Kelly15 Jun 202301:04:46

Today on the A Pinch of Magick podcast I’m joined by Liz Childs Kelly, author and podcast host of 'Home to Her', and we venture into an exploration of the divine feminine, sacredness, and the journey to back to self.

We explore what 'Home to Her' means to Liz, a concept steeped in personal interpretation and understanding. We discuss the allure of the Divine Feminine and the journey we undertake to return to the sacredness of our own bodies.

Life has a funny way of surprising us, and Liz shares her unexpected path, which led her to her current work. We delve into the patriarchal lens of womanhood and what it truly means to shift the veil and perceive the world through a new lens.

Ever felt a calling so strong, it's as if you're seeking the feminine face of God? We discuss this deep longing and the uncomfortable sensation of returning to 'normal' life after experiencing a 'split in reality'.

How do we translate our experiences of the sacred into our daily practices? As we explore this, we discuss Liz's journey of initially trying to blend mindfulness with her business while feeling an urgent need to foster change.

And sometimes, it's the unexplained, the paranormal events that shake us awake. Liz opens up about how one such experience that led her to a point where she could no longer ignore her calling. We talk about loss of identity, re-building your view of success and learning to engage with the world in new ways.

Liz shares tales of pilgrimages to sacred sites in Europe with her family, the power of embracing the unknown, and the magick of finding the divine in the mundane. She reassures us that perfection isn't necessary to connect with the divine - a 'settled' everyday existence offers plenty of opportunities for this profound connection.

We explore the importance of incorporating divinity into family life, and the concept of 'She' as a vibrant, living tradition. Liz illuminates the fact that the sacred feminine was not entirely suppressed in all places throughout history. The Goddess is very much alive and we're not starting from scratch when we want to connect with her.

We'll discuss how to tap into the latent power within us and uncover the sacredness of the self.

We end the conversation talking about interpreting the signs around you, what’s calling to you and what are the breadcrumbs leading you on your journey?

Liz guides us through this exploration and shares how connecting with nature can actually be a subversive act.

So, come on this mystical journey with us. Grab a cuppa, find a cosy spot, and get ready to delve into a captivating conversation. After all, every day is a good day for a pinch of magick.

The Path of the Practical Priestess - An Interview with Molly Remer01 Jun 202300:57:15

Today on the A Pinch of Magick podcast we're journeying through the mystical realms of Priestessing with Molly Remer. Molly has not only been an integral guide in my personal journey but is also a beacon for anyone wanting to weave a bit more magick into the everyday.

On this spirited ride, we delve into the essence of being a Priestess – not just as an archetype but what it means to be a vocational Priestess. We hear about Molly's bold decision to step into the role of Priestess, leaving behind the safety of the familiar.

We traverse through the sacred body, honouring the transitions of life, and take a peek into the day-to-day of a 'Practical Priestess.' Learn how to find the magick in everyday life and weave it into your daily practices. Molly unveils the secret doorways into magick, fondly known as devotional 'mud rooms', and the power of not stashing your magick away for a perfect time or a special occasion.

We tackle the notion that making time for your spirit is an indulgence – quite the contrary, it's a life-sustaining and world-renewing act. Pilgrimages don't always require a trek across continents; you can start one in your own backyard. And guess what? Connecting with your spirituality isn't a once-in-a-lifetime event; it's a daily practice, a soul-reviving ritual.

You'll hear about the importance of honouring promises to yourself, creating life-changing transformations, and reconnecting with your soul without feeling the need to run away from family.

Hear how Molly reconnected to her magick, even when circumstances stripped away her 'normal' refuelling practices. She even introduces us to the creation of '365 days of Goddess,' a practice that extended from the planned 30-days to beyond 850 days!

We journey into the inception of her popular story goddesses and learn why fuelling ourselves first is paramount. We talk about finding joy as resistance in a culture of despair and living our magick using what we already have at our disposal.

So, are you ready to don your cloak of curiosity and wander into this world of practical magick? Buckle up, magick-seekers; you're in for a memorable ride.

Xo Rebecca

Magickal ways I've been managing change26 May 202300:32:23

Greetings, magickal listeners!

Change, eh? It’s a cheeky thing. It shows up, uninvited, often toppling our well-laid plans like a deck of cards, and before you know it, you're standing at a crossroad with the signposts all muddled up. The nerve!

But then, that's the very spice of today's episode: navigating change.

How do you handle change, especially when it involves making decisions that might ruffle a few feathers? When your choices veer from the well-trodden path that others have been happily walking for ages?

How do you tap into the power of magick and rituals to guide you through these seas of change? What types of magick and rituals can support you when you’re saying a hearty "YES!" to change?

Let's get one thing straight: honouring yourself whilst making changes isn't always a walk in the park. So, we’ll talk about that, too.

And what about the changes you didn't choose? The ones that fell into your lap like an unwanted present? We've got you covered there, as well.

Because here’s the truth: saying 'yes' to change isn’t a one-time decision. It's a dance that goes on, a tune you keep humming, a story that never really ends.

Get comfy, put the kettle on, because in this episode, we're going to dive deep. We’re going to navigate the choppy waters of change together, bringing in a dash of magick, a sprinkle of rituals, and a heap of audacious courage.

By the end of this adventure, you’ll be geared up with an array of strategies and insights to face change head-on - and it might not be in the ways you think.

Because change, dear listeners, is inevitable. But how we navigate it? That's where the real magick lies.

Ready for the ride? Let's dive in!

Story Magick and the Goddess - An Interview with Jessica Starr18 May 202300:52:21

In the tapestry of existence, stories are the threads that hold us together. They're our history, our magick, and our compass for navigating the path ahead. Stories are our connection to the past, a window to alternate realities, and a blueprint for our future.

That's why today, we're diving into the spellbinding world of stories. We're going to discover what it means to be a 'story keeper', the art of traveling between worlds with stories, and how stories are our truth-tellers.

Ever contemplated the difference between oral and written stories? Or how stories have evolved over time and the importance of allowing them to change? We'll explore this and more.

We'll delve into the realms of animism and the unseen, exploring the intimate connection between stories, magick, and the everyday objects that surround us.

Because how do you make sense of the world when...

  • You're caught between the seen and the unseen?
  • Your reality is interwoven with tales of old?
  • The tangible is just as vital as the intangible?

What happens when your everyday life becomes the fabric of a story, a living, breathing testament to the power of the unseen?

Let this week's guest tell you how.

Get comfortable, grab a cup of tea, because today we're joined by Jessica M Starr. She's a witch whose magic are stories, and you're in for a treat.

By the end of this episode, you'll not only have a new perspective on stories, but you'll also have explored:

  • The magick of stories
  • Animism and the unseen relationships in our world
  • Daily rituals, planetary magic, and sacred spaces
  • Creating a magickal practice that reflects your own interests and the land around you, instead of trying to make preconceived ideas fit
  • Working with solar time, lunar time, and spiral time
  • Involving children in our magical practices
  • Following a goddess focused practice
  • How to work with Goddess and how it's different from working with (a Christian) God
  • Working with the Goddess to reconnect with your inner power

Our lives are an intricate tapestry of stories, magick, and unseen connections. And when we become aware of these threads, we not only enrich our own existence but also become part of a much grander narrative.

The Spiral Path: Desire, Detours, and Deep Manifestation16 Jun 202500:20:19

Ever felt like you’re going in circles with your manifestations?

That you're doing everything right, the spells, the vision board, the mindset shifts, but nothing’s landing?

This episode is your deep exhale.

In Episode 5 of our manifestation series, we reframe so-called "delay" and "failure" as sacred signs that you’re on the true path of soul-aligned manifestation.

Not a straight line. A spiral.

In this episode, we explore:
  • Why manifestation unfolds in cycles, not checklists
  • How to tell if you’re manifesting someone else’s dream
  • Why wanting more isn’t selfish, it’s sacred
  • Nature’s seasons as manifestation guides
  • And how to reclaim your true desires without guilt, shame, or needing permission

You’ll leave this episode with a new lens for understanding your progress, not as failure or stagnation, but as ritual evolution.

Reflection:

Reflect on where you are in your current cycle. What are you returning to, and what’s deepening?

This Episode is Perfect for You If:
  • You’re feeling stuck, lost, or tired of pushing
  • You’ve been manifesting something for ages, and it still hasn’t shown up
  • You’re questioning whether your dream is really yours
  • You’re craving a softer, wiser rhythm for your spiritual path

Listen now and let the spiral set you free.

And don’t forget to subscribe, because in Episode 6: Manifestation in Rhythm, we’ll explore the Wheel of the Year, lunar magick, and how to align your manifestations with nature’s cycles for long-term, soulful transformation.

Cycles of Belonging - An Interview with Stella Tomlinson11 May 202300:54:23

Life, right? It's a beautifully messy whirlwind of moments, experiences, and cycles.

Oh, yes, cycles. We're so deep into them that most of the time, we don't even notice their existence. But they're there, in the backdrop of our lives, playing out their rhythms, impacting us in more ways than we can count.

Which brings us to the heart of today's episode: cycles. The sacred, the mundane, the personal, and the cosmic. The ups, the downs, and the in-betweens.

And to guide us through her own experience of them, I'm joined by Stella Tomlinson author of Cycles of Belonging.

Have you ever noticed how you ebb and flow through life, just like the moon? How some days you feel like you're at the peak of the mountain, ready to take on the world, and on others, you feel like curling up in your 'wintering' phase, surrendering to the quiet within?

Ever wondered how your menstrual cycle, something so innately personal, can teach you profound lessons about self-understanding and embracing the sacred rhythms of life?

And how, by aligning with these cycles, you can awaken a deep 'remembering' within you, a remembering that brings you home, back to yourself?

Oh, it's a fascinating journey and we're diving deep today.

By the end of this episode, you won't just have a new perspective on cycles, but you'll also have a trove of insights on:

  • Becoming aware of cycles and how they impact us
  • The sacred cycles of life
  • The value of tracking your menstrual cycle
  • A 'remembering' that working with the cycles evoked for Stella
  • Self-understanding gained by working with your menstrual cycle
  • Understanding that you ebb and flow through life
  • Embracing 'wintering'
  • Creativity and the gift of the liminal space
  • The Heroine's Journey Home to ourselves
  • Working with the cycles in in everyday life
  • Personal ritual
  • Living wholeheartedly
  • Welcoming grief
  • Creating a 'grown up' society
  • A keening ritual

The biggest takeaway? Understanding that life is not a straight line. It's a spiral, a cycle, an ebb, and a flow. And when we start to dance with this rhythm, we unlock a sacred harmony that can revolutionise the way we live our lives.

So let's dive in shall we?

In this episode we discuss:

If you've ever wondered if you can communicate with trees, or other plant spirits, this conversation is for you.

This is especially for you, if you think you can't!

We all have a favourite tree or a story about a tree. This episode goes one step further and explores how you can actually talk with trees and listen to their wisdom.

In this episode Holly shares her transformative story of how listening to guidance she went from kissing a tree to years later being on national TV sharing with the nation that trees can talk.

Join me for this inspiring conversation - you know she had me at 'trees'!

In this episode we chat about:
  • How Holly's connection with the trees started after an Akashic record reading
  • How Holly got lost in the forest and it was the trees that gave her clear directions to find her way out (and at the time, wondering if she was making it up)
  • Forest bathing
  • Why Holly wrote her books about trees, and how this was different from her previous books
  • How Holly received hate mail and judgment after being on national TV sharing about talking with trees
  • Solo camping trips as a way to slow down and reconnect to yourself

  • Walking and running long distance trails
  • It being okay to stop what you're doing and enjoy what you're surrounded by
  • The importance of walking and pilgrimage
  • Sacred sites that are special to Holly
  • How to connect with nature and trust the conversations you have with the trees and nature
  • And much more!

About Holly Worton

Holly believes that nature connection is about much more than sit spots and meditating in Nature—it's also about getting outdoors to do the things you love. Her work is about personal growth through Nature, and how going literally into the woods and spending time in Nature can help us on our own journey of personal development.

Holly enjoys spending time outdoors, walking and running long-distance trails, and exploring Britain's sacred sites. Spending time in Nature is something that she finds to be deeply nourishing—it brings her a sense of expansive joy.

Her podcast and blog are about personal growth through outdoor adventures and travel. They're about our journey into the woods of ourselves: getting to know who we are, where we are, and where we're going in life so that we can create the life we want to live. They're about deepening your connection with yourself, taking inspired action, and really trusting yourself and your intuition. She's originally from California and now lives in England, but has also lived in Spain, Costa Rica, Mexico, Chile, and Argentina.

How change amplifies your magick10 Apr 202300:11:17

This time of year, Easter celebrations remind us of the power of transformation and the ability to ‘come back to life’.

We’re constantly evolving and transforming. – whether we want to or not…

We have the power to shed old habits and beliefs, and to start over with a fresh, and hopefully wiser, perspective.

Transformation can be both exciting and scary, but it’s an essential part of our growth and evolution. It’s an essential part of life.

So, today we’re using the MMM’s to reconnect you with the power of transformation.

Metal Magick: Metal Never Lies - An interview with Sam Thompson30 Mar 202301:00:18

Today on the A Pinch of Magick podcast I'm joined by Sam 'Bo' Thompson as we discuss reconnecting to the magick of metal.

Intellectually, I know that I'm surrounded by metal, but after this conversation with Bo, metal has taken on a whole new meaning and significance.

We had finished the interview and had stopped recording, and we were continuing to chat and I had to start recording again as I had a huge (yet obvious when I thought about it) a-ha moment about metal in my work!

Have a listen and think about metal in a whole new light.

In this episode we discuss:
  • Why Bo believes we need to reconnect to metal
  • How we're more connected to metal than we realise
  • How metal transforms us
  • The personalities of the different metals
  • How to incorporate metal into everyday life
  • Why Bo uses a primitive method of blacksmithing
  • His relationship to the Morrigan
  • How Bo cultivated his inner trust to follow the guidance of his intuition and messages from the Morrigan
  • Bo's philosophy for staying true his own path
  • The wisdom of his grandma
  • Metal and divination

About Sam 'Bo' Thompson

I’ve been a practicing pagan since the 90's (does that date me or what?), past VP and President of Triad CUUPs (Covenant of Unitarian Universalist Pagans). During the years I have become a Reiki Master Teacher and a certified Great Life Coach.

I learned Primitive Blacksmithing Around 2012 and took to it like a duck to water. I am honored to have been a finalist in Our State Magazine for a forged steel and copper rose.

I teach both Primitive Blacksmithing and Magical Blacksmithing in the Foothills of NC. The focal point of my Work is on the magical part of blacksmithing and I am currently a full-time magical smith.

Being a Priest of the Morrigan heavily influences what I do, and the smithy is dedicated to Her.

I am also a proud Army Veteran.

Working with Spirit - An interview with Emma Griffin23 Mar 202300:56:31

On today's episode of the A Pinch of Magick podcast I'm joined by Emma Griffin of Sacred Space Cornwall as we talk about her path to claiming her spiritual gifts and living 'in public' as a witch.

Emma's story is a powerful reminder to not wait for a wake-up call to start doing what's really important to you.

She takes us through her journey from fashion designer, interior decorator, celebrity photographer to intuitive channel and magickal mentor. Whilst having two children, and three cancer diagnosis's within 10 years...

Emma's childhood may have been different from most, in the fact that she grew up in a house immersed in magick - her mum was a witch and her dad was a psychic medium, but it didn't mean that it was quicker for her to claim her own space as a witch.

In this episode we discuss:

  • Emma's background in art, fashion design, and photography and how this has influenced her craft
  • What it was like growing up in a magickal household
  • The importance of fostering relationships with spirits and keeping yourself safe
  • The difference between intuition and fear in spiritual growth
  • The transition to spiritual healing and mentoring after personal loss
  • The power of intuition and the importance of trusting yourself
  • Connecting with children's natural abilities to see spirits
  • Her intimate relationship with death
  • What she remembers from her near death experience
  • Holding space for others and maintaining your own energy and energetic health
  • The importance of ritual, sisterhood and sacred space
  • How Emma connects with spirits and passes on their messages (she even has one for me! One I'm still not ready to hear...)

In a world where people often feel disconnected from themselves and their spiritual side, Emma's journey reminds us of the importance of trusting our intuition and embracing our true selves.

Whether you're a witch who is 'in' or 'out' of the broom cupboard, or simply someone looking for inspiration, listening to Emma's story will inspire you to dig deep, trust your instincts, and find your own path.

Tune in and let Emma's experiences help you unlock the power of your own inner witch.

Magick vs Manifestation: What’s the Difference and Do You Need Both?09 Jun 202500:28:26
Magick vs Manifestation

Do You Need Both to Shape Your Reality?

Modern vision boards meet ancient ritual in this powerful exploration of what actually creates change.

Is manifestation enough on its own?

Or does real transformation require ritual, symbolism, and magickal depth?

In this episode, we unpack the real difference between manifestation and magick and how to use them together for profound, soul-aligned results.

In this episode, you’ll discover:
  • The core differences between manifestation and magick: energetically, spiritually, and practically
  • Why manifestation is a path, not a quick fix, and how to embrace its spiral unfolding
  • What to do when manifestation seems stuck: 5 powerful magickal practices to unblock your energy
  • Whether you’re manifesting, practising magick, or unknowingly doing both
  • How to blend mindset and ritual, psychology and spirit, energy and embodiment

Reflection:

Are you manifesting, doing magick, or weaving both? Use our reflective prompts to decode your current practice.

What’s Next?

In Episode 5: The Spiral Path, we’ll explore why feeling stuck is often a sacred part of the process. You’ll learn how to:

  • Recognise when you’re manifesting someone else’s dream
  • Reclaim your own authentic desires
  • Own your right to want more, even when you’re grateful for what you have

What if you aimed for harmony rather than balance?20 Mar 202300:14:57

Happy Equinox!

For the word lovers and the curious… the word ‘equinox’ is derived from two Latin words – aequus (equal) and nox (night).

As today we celebrate the nearly equal amount of daylight and darkness. A moment of balance.

We often spend our lives striving for balance, specifically the all elusive ‘work-life balance’, and can often feel frustrated when we don’t seem to manage it.

But, as today’s shows, even nature only manages ‘balance’ twice a year. The rest of the time there is a harmony between the growing and waning amounts of daylight and darkness that we experience.

How could your life be different if you also chose to aim for harmony rather than balance? Accepting that throughout your life different parts of your life will need differing amounts of your attention. And that trying to give equal amounts of your time and attention to all-of-the-things in your life will leave you, and those around you, feeling frustrated.

Today we’re using the MMM’s to explore how the idea of harmony, rather than balance, could support your power and magick.

Re-Imagining Midlife - An Interview with Louisa Darling16 Mar 202300:52:49

Today on the A Pinch of Magick podcast I'm joined by Louisa Darling founder of Barefoot Festival and the Witch Festival in Leicester, as we talk about the importance of having a space to explore and return home to yourself,no matter your age.

In this episode we dig deep into using the experiences you've had as a way to discover your own magick. Whilst remembering that there is no set path or strict rules you need to follow to get permission to claim and use your power and magick.

Perhaps you've been curious about how to step into more of your power and magick. But as you've explored this possibility, you've felt that you don't belong or haven't been welcome in certain groups or situations.

It's painful for sure.

Well, on today's episode Louisa shares her experience of finding the perfect community and her experience of embodying her own power and magick, especially as she gets older.

I hope that today's episode inspires you to embrace where you are and look forward to what's to come!

Podcast Show Notes

In this episode Louisa shares:

  • How her journey to creating magickal gatherings began with belly dancing
  • The dissonance she experienced between enjoying belly dancing and watching the bombing of the Gaza Strip
  • How this led her to explore earth dancing from her own lineage
  • How her training, teaching and experience of Kundalini Yoga mirrored her experience of magick
  • The importance of private practice and the importance of coming together with others
  • How she found some moots to be cliquey, so she decided to create her own gatherings
  • What it means to be a 'real' witch
  • The reluctance she had to claim the title of 'witch'
  • The importance of healing the 'witch wound', so women feel brave about speaking out
  • The importance of reclaiming the power that mid-life brings with it
  • How it can seem easy to dismiss the activism of mid-life women, but that's when they have more power
  • How when we deny our power and repress past events, our bodies can store that information and how it manifests in daily life
  • How we can be quick to throw away and reject what appears to be 'rubbish', when that's where the gold can be.
  • The importance of remembering that you're not alone on this path.

Celebrating you and your magick to create brilliant outcomes13 Mar 202300:14:35

Next week is the Equinox. I always find the Equinoxes (Spring and Autumn) a perfect time to review the last six months of the year; from Equinox to Equinox. To celebrate what we’ve done and who we’re becoming. And also to explore where there’s room for improvements and how to integrate the lessons we’ve experienced.

Today we’re using the MMM’s of Magick, Mastery and Momentum to celebrate just how far along your path you are and where you can still claim even more of your power and magick.

Cleansing, letting go, and making space for magick27 Feb 202300:13:12

Earlier this month I discovered that the word ‘February’ means ‘to cleanse’: The Latin, februarius mensis “month of purification.”

There was a Roman festival of purification called Februa, during which people were ritually washed.

I know we’re right at the end of February, but I still thought this was a great way to use today’s MMM’s to cleanse away what no longer serves you, so that you can create the space for what’s actually important to you.

New Moon magick and dreaming for the fun of it20 Feb 202300:08:54

Today is the New Moon in Pisces.
The New Moon reminds us of the importance of resting, slowing down, or at least taking a breath. And it’s the perfect time to connect in with your inner wisdom to listen for its guidance.

The moon is currently moving through the sign of Pisces, the final sign of the zodiac. As it moves through Pisces it reminds us that things must come to an end so that new things can emerge.

One of my favourite aspects of the energy of Pisces is that it can help us connect us to our dreams, imagination and inspiration – this is the home of your power and magick, and yet aspects of ourselves that we can be quick to overlook or dismiss.

So, today we use the MMM’s to take a pause and reconnect to you the value of your imagination and dreaming.

Rebel Heart Tarot an Interview with Alice Grist15 Feb 202301:00:51

Today on the A Pinch of Magick podcast I'm joined by author and tarot deck creator Alice Grist.

This episode is for you if you've ever been curious about the tarot and want to know how to explore, or work deeper with the tarot - even if you've been a little hesitant to start.

Unfortunately it's true, that even today there can still be a fear around the tarot. Especially with many films or TV shows adding to this, as they only show tarot in a light that suggests imminent danger or death. With characters starting to die or face peril after seeing the Death or Tower cards.

Alice wants to break these ideas and show people how tarot is actually a potent tool for personal transformation, and nothing to be feared.

Alice shares how she first became involved in tarot when her dad, who had been a Vicar, left the church and returned to the things he was once curious about - this included the tarot.

In this episode we discuss:

  • How Alice's personal journey with the tarot evolved
  • The common misconceptions of the tarot
  • Misogyny and racism around the tarot
  • Why people (and society) fear the tarot
  • How tarot has put women in places of spiritual power and leadership, whilst many traditional institution still denied women these places
  • Alice's experience of living each card
  • Using the tarot to connect with your intuition and learn to trust yourself
  • Tarot as a tool for personal empowerment
  • Signs and symbolism all around us
  • Using oracle cards with the tarot
  • Alice also shares her favourite and most used decks, as well has handy tips on how to find the perfect deck for you

About Alice

Author, tarot deck creator and expert. Alice has been working with tarot for thirty years and most recently co-created the new international deck Rebel Heart Tarot. Alice reads and teaches tarot internationally.

How to love you (in a world that can make you feel not good enough)13 Feb 202300:08:51

Today is the last quarter moon in Scorpio and tomorrow is Valentine’s day, this brings an interesting combination of:

  • Last quarter moon: Reviewing what’s working for you and what’s not
  • Scorpio: Brings, among other things, the topics of power, pleasure, relationships, and money
  • Valentine’s day: A focus on love; with society telling you what love, or even what relationships, ‘should’ look like for them to be considered happy and successful.

When you bring these elements together you end up with an energy that could have you questioning your relationships, the power dynamics of those relationships, and what you actually want from them.

But before you can decide what you want to create with those around you, or call in through a new relationship, it’s essential that you review your own relationship with the most important person in  your life… You!

So, today we use the MMM’s to give yourself a moment to check-in with yourself and explore your relationship with yourself.

Valentine's day is such a witchy day here's how to embrace the magick and bring more love into your life10 Feb 202300:36:23

Today on the A Pinch of Magick podcast I start by sharing how incredibly witchy Valentine's day is with its kitchen witchery, love spells and enchantments and then show you how to use this collective energy to weave potent magick for yourself.
If you love valentine's day or hate it, I hope this episode will inspire you to weave more of your own magick into the day so that you can enjoy its inherent magick.
This isn't an episode about romantic relationships or finding your soulmate. It's an episode about your relationship with yourself, becoming your own soulmate and how in doing so, how you can let more love in.
I want to inspire you to take some time to really be with yourself, to start to silence the inner critic and give yourself permission to truly remember how fabulous and magickal you are!
I want you to start to feel more love in your everyday life - and yes, it starts with you.

In this episode I share:

  • The different ways people are weaving magick on this day, and most don't even realise it
  • How to intentionally use the collective energy of the day to cultivate more love in your life
  • A reminder to do things your way and step out of the commercial and societal judgements and expectations of love
  • A ritual to clear away self-doubt and bring in more self-love
  • A spell to really remember your own power, magick and wonderfulness
  • I share how you could do the spell with loved one and/or friends for some extra potency

I'd love to hear which you're going to try and how you got on with it.

The good kind of selfish06 Feb 202300:06:27

Magick - mastery - Momentum

Welcome to our Monday Moment of Magick....

We’ve just had the Full Moon in Leo reminding us of the importance, and courage that it takes, to be loyal to yourself. To prioritise and express your own needs, especially when so many other things demand your attention too.

Putting yourself first can often be seen as selfish, but what if you looked at as filling yourself up, so instead of selfish, it because self-full.

Imagine how much more you could enjoy, participate, contribute and support your own life, and those around you, if you came from a place of full-ness, rather than depletion.

Today we use the MMM’s to give yourself a moment to check-in with yourself and explore where you can reprioritise yourself and your needs.

The Four Forces of Magick: What Makes a Spell Work02 Jun 202500:51:49

How Intention, Energy, Action and Alignment Bring Spells to Life

What really makes a manifestation spell work?

In this episode, we peel back the magickal layers and reveal the energetic anatomy that powers every successful spell, from your nervous system to your altar, your thoughts to your rituals. Whether you’re a seasoned witch or new to energy work, this episode helps you map the mechanics behind the magick.

Forget waiting for the universe to deliver. This is about becoming the co-creator of your reality.

In this episode, you’ll learn:
  • The four foundational forces that create real magick: Intention, Energy, Action, and Alignment
  • Why missing just one of these can unravel your spellwork
  • The physics of magick: how vibration, frequency, and resonance affect your reality
  • Why manifestation is a relational act, not a demand, but a dance
  • A living example of how to apply all four layers in a single spell

Bonus: Spell Diagnosis

Wondering why your manifestation hasn’t landed yet?

We also explore common blocks, like resistance, overthinking, and energetic tangles, and offer magickal ways to clear your field so your desire can flow in freely.

🎧 Coming Next…

Magick vs Manifestation

Modern vision boards meet ancient ritual. What’s the difference—and do you need both?

We’ll explore:

  • The roots and rituals of each approach
  • Why manifestation is a path, not a hack
  • How to know what you’re actually doing (and how to powerfully combine them)

🔥 Ritual for the Week

Choose one of the four forces, intention, energy, action, or alignment, and track how it shows up in your current manifestation.

Strengthen the one that’s weakest.

Watch what shifts.

The importance of finding your own rhythm28 Jan 202300:31:18

Today on the A Pinch of Magick podcast I talk about how connecting with the changes of season can help you (re)discover your own rhythm.

I discuss:
  • The importance of finding and honouring your own rhythm
  • The sabbats / earth festivals
  • How the changes in season impact us, even f we don't notice them
  • How we can lose connection to our inner rhythm, but it's always there
  • The things that can disconnect us to our inner rhythms
  • Noticing how the land and light around you impact your energy
  • How connecting with the land can reconnect you to yourself
  • How planning events according to your own energy can improve relationships

What are you noticing in the changing land around you right now and does that reflect how your energy is currently feeling?

Expressing yourself fully when the world has other ideas for you23 Jan 202300:09:56

Today I'm sharing something a little different with you - I'd love to know what you think!

Each Monday I'm going to share with you some Magick, Mastery and Momentum.

I share this in my newsletter, but thought you might enjoy it too.

Each week in the newsletter and now here on the podcast, I’ll share with you three small, actionable steps that you can take to reconnect you to, or keep you on path with, the magick of you.

Three, after all, is the magick number 😉

1. Magick is about coming back to your own centre and connecting with the magick of you.

It will often come in the form of a journal prompt to get you connecting to what’s really important to you.

2. Mastery is about your mindset and your relationship with yourself, your power and magick.

This will be something to make sure that you’re being intentional and living a life that’s aligned with the truth of who you are.

3. Momentum is about taking action and actually doing the things you love and living the life that fills you with joy.

This will be something for you to do, a small action step that will move you a step closer to creating a life that you love.

You may recognise these concepts from my book Magickal Knickers and other ways to create a life of intention: Reclaim the magick of you.

Life happens, we get knocked off course, and we end up somewhere we weren’t expecting. My intention for this newsletter is that you’ll receive a little magickal nudge to get you back on track.

Perhaps one activity won’t change your life, but over the course of weeks and months, all these tiny nudges either keep you on track, or nudge you back in the right direction for you.

Are you ready?
