| FIFA Club World Cup's Bright Silver Lining ⚽🏆 | 04 Jul 2025 | 00:01:18 | |
The FIFA Club World Cup is the worst idea ever implemented in football, Jurgen Klopp said recently. The manager of PSG, Luis Enrique, said the ball bounces like a rabbit. There has been a lot of criticism and negative PR against the FIFA World Cup. Hot weather, players not getting enough rest before the next season, empty stadiums, awful pitches, poor viewership numbers, and worst of all, Donald Trump asking transphobic questions to Juventus players in the White House. However, there has been one bright silver lining to it. Let me explain to you with an example. Auckland City FC, a team of part-time footballers, played one of the biggest clubs in the world, Bayern Munich, in an official FIFA tournament. Yes, the club got a handsome amount of money for participation, but there is something bigger than money. That’s hope. Because of the FIFA Club World Cup, now more and more football clubs and footballers can dream of playing in a major football tournament alongside the star footballers and famous football teams. In my opinion, this is a huge boost to football development across the world for both footballers and clubs. Now, more and more footballers can dream of playing at the international stage, which makes the sport more democratic, accessible and beautiful. Subscribe for more interesting stories. | What’s the difference between defending like an amateur team and defending like a professional team? 🤔 | 18 May 2025 | 00:01:00
How to Defend Like a Pro ⚽ Southampton’s Masterclass vs Man City 🙌 What’s the difference between defending like an amateur and defending like a professional? Last week, Southampton — bottom of the Premier League — showed us exactly that. Heading into the match, they were on track to match Derby County’s infamous record of just 11 points in a season. But a stunning 0-0 draw against Manchester City, the champions, helped them avoid that unwanted history. City dominated the game — 72% possession, 26 shots, 15 corners — yet they couldn’t find the back of the net. Why? Because Southampton finally did what they hadn’t done all season: they stuck to the basics. They didn't panic, didn't chase the ball blindly, and most importantly, they played as a unit. It wasn’t flashy, but it was effective. When amateur teams lose possession, they immediately press. Professionals? They drop back into position, stay compact, get behind the ball, and make sure every defender knows their man. It’s not about individual brilliance — it’s about tactical discipline and awareness. Remember – Defend in discipline, Attack in surprise. ⚔ Subscribe for more interesting stories. | Become a KILLER STRIKER with this simple trick! 💀⚽ | 23 Mar 2025 | 00:00:54
Become a KILLER STRIKER with this simple trick! 💀⚽ Watch Haaland’s movement in this clip. As soon as he senses an opportunity, he starts moving towards the far post. And that’s exactly what elite strikers do! Why? Because moving to the far post gives you three major advantages! First, it improves your scoring angle! You don’t have to open your body awkwardly to take the shot. Second, it puts you on the blind side of the defender. Now they have a big problem—the ball is in front of them, but you are behind them. Now tracking you is a nightmare for them! Third, it’s all about body mechanics! Moving forward is easy, but moving backwards? Much harder! If you're at the far post, you can adjust to the near post easily—but the opposite is way tough! So next time you play as a striker, remember this golden rule—move to the far post! | Galatasaray SK - Loudest Football Fans! 🔊⚽🏟️ | 05 Dec 2023 | 00:00:57
When it comes to supporting their teams in the stadium, football fans are known to be the loudest. They can be just as hostile as they can be galvanizing. Stadiums like Anfield and Signal Iduna Park come to mind when talking about fantastic atmospheres in stadiums, but few can trump the Galatasaray fans at the Turk Telekom Arena. | Jurgen Klopp vs Pep Guardiola 🤜🤛 | 24 Nov 2023 | 00:00:54
The rivalry between two of the best Premier League managers of recent times goes back to their time in the Bundesliga. They played each other 8 times over an almost 2-year period in Germany, with Guardiola getting the better of Klopp by 4 wins to 3. But since the two arrived in England, Klopp has caught up with his counterpart. In fact, of all the managers Guardiola has ever faced, his worst record is against Klopp. The German remains the only manager to whom Guardiola has lost more than he’s won. Of the 20 times they’ve played each other in England, Jurgen Klopp has come out on top on 8 occasions, while Guardiola has won 6 games. The average points Guardiola has picked up against Klopp in their 14 Premier League encounters so far is just 1.4, which is the lowest compared to any other manager he’s faced more than 9 times. | Why Barcelona are not playing at the Camp Nou this season?⚽🤔🏟️ | 12 Nov 2023 | 00:00:58
Barca have been playing at the Camp Nou since 1957. In terms of capacity, it is the biggest stadium in Europe, housing 99,354 fans. However, they’ve been playing their home games this season at the Estadio Olympic Lluis because Camp Nou is currently under renovation. Barcelona will end up spending 1.5 billion euros for the renovation, with the help of 20 different lenders. The naming rights deal with Spotify, which is worth around 280 million euros, will also aid in the process. The stadium’s capacity will be increased to 105,000, the VIP and VVIP area will be revamped, there will be a 30 thousand square meter roof cover full of solar panels, alongside a host of other changes being made. Club president Joan Laporta has said that “Barcelona will have the best stadium in the world” once the renovation is complete around November 2024. | Top 3 players to have played for both Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur!🔝3️⃣⚽ | 04 Nov 2023 | 00:00:58
At #3 is French centre-back William Gallas, who began his stint in the Premier League with Chelsea in 2001 and won 2 league titles with them. He moved on to London rivals Arsenal in 2006, and after spending 4 years there, he made the switch in North London to Tottenham Hotspur in 2010.
#2 Gus Poyet The Uruguayan midfielder joined Chelsea in 1997, and in 145 appearances, he scored 49 goals for the club. But in 2001, he joined Tottenham Hotspur, much to the wrath of the Chelsea faithful. While his first season at Spurs went well, his time there was largely stricken by injuries.
And at #1, we have Tottenham Hotspur legend Glenn Hoddle. Between 1975 and 1987, Hoddle made 490 appearances for Spurs, scoring 110 goals. He then had stints at Monaco and Swindon Town, before signing with Chelsea as player-manager in 1993. #chelsea #tottenham #spurs #CHETOT #premierleague #PL #TOTCHE #london #chelseafc #cfc #son #ange #postecoglou #pochettino #footballvideos #footballstories #soccervideos #soccerstories #football #soccer #1minfootball Subscribe for more interesting stories. | Champions League New Format Concerns! 🆕🏆😰 | 28 Oct 2023 | 00:00:55
Four more teams and one giant league table—the new Champions League format is far more concerning than confusing. As explained in our previous story, each team has to play at least two or four extra matches to qualify for the knockout stage. The new Swiss model could drastically impact certain clubs that are already struggling to cope with a congested season, especially the Premier League teams. Pep Guardiola expressed his discontent with excessive matches earlier this year, saying, “It’s getting worse”. In today’s world, where every match is crucial for a club’s sporting and financial success, keeping players fit throughout the season is becoming increasingly important. Defending the new format, UEFA argued that it will make the Champions League more open, competitive, and exciting. The fans will be able to enjoy 189 matches instead of 125, and the Champions League will make an extra €1 billion per season. But at what expense? Only time will tell. | The new Champions League format! 🆕🏆⚽ | 15 Oct 2023 | 00:00:55
The UEFA Champions League is set to undergo a major revamp next season and here is everything you need to know. The total number of participating teams will expand to 36 from 32. Instead of eight groups of four teams each, there will be only one big league table. Each team will play four home and four away games. To decide who plays against whom, 36 teams will be divided into four pots of nine according to the club coefficients. Each club will be drawn to play against two teams from each pot, excluding teams from the same association. Following this group stage, the top 8 teams will advance directly to the round of 16, while teams ranked 9th to 24th will undergo a rigorous two-legged playoff round to secure their spot in the next stage. Unlike the current format, there will be no drop-down to the Europa League. The knockout stage, however, is set to remain the same. | Physicist Brentford Owner!👨🔬🐝⚽ | 07 Oct 2023 | 00:00:59
From studying physics at Oxford University to owning a Premier League club, here is the story of Matthew Benham. Starting his professional career as a physicist initially, Benham slowly migrated to the finance sector, where he worked his way up to becoming the Vice President of the Bank of America. However, his trajectory took an unexpected turn when he entered the world of gambling. Matthew established Smartodds, a company that sells statistical research and sports modelling to professional gamblers. Subsequently, he ventured further by acquiring the sports betting exchange Matchbook. Interestingly, Benham is a childhood fan of Brentford Football Club. Seeing the Bees in financial crisis and languishing in the third tier, Benham took over his beloved club in 2012. He used his expertise in sports analytics and implemented Moneyball in football. In the next nine years, he propelled the Bees into the Premier League while making over €108 million in profits from player transfers. Astounding! Isn't? | Wembley Stadium Dressing Room change that completely transformed England! 🦁🦁🦁 | 20 Mar 2025 | 00:01:09
Last year, we visited Wembley Stadium, home to the England national team and the second-largest football stadium in Europe. While the tour was packed with football history, this detail amazed us the most! In 2020, Wembley completed a £9 million upgrade, including a brand-new England men's first-team dressing room—designed with two crucial features requested by then-Three Lions manager Gareth Southgate himself. First, the usual rectangular shape with sharp corners was replaced with an oval design, ensuring that every player could see their teammates without any obstruction. Second, a new rule—no two players from the same club could sit next to each other. Why? Because for years, club rivalries created divides in the squad. And guess what? These small changes made a huge impact! Since then, England has won 42 out of 67 games, lost only 10, and reached back-to-back Euro finals in 2020 and 2024! Subscribe for more interesting stories. | Osasuna - Almost no player transfers!❎⚽🔄 | 23 Sep 2023 | 00:00:59
Can you survive in La Liga by averaging just €8 million in transfers? Well, Osasuna has been doing this for the last 5 years. Since its promotion in 2019, the club has spent a little over €40 million on buying players. During the same period, the club earned €4.1 million through player sales. The highest amount the club has paid for any player was €8 million when they signed Croatian forward Ante Budimir in 2021. Interestingly, Osasuna rarely buys or sells players. The club believes in developing its own players and giving them first-team opportunities. In case they have to make any changes under extreme circumstances, the club prefers not to involve cash in player transfers, and the majority of its arrivals and departures are either loans or free transfers. Nine years ago, the same Pamplona side was on the verge of bankruptcy when they were struggling in the second division. It was then that the members, who are also the owners of the club, decided to adopt a sustainable philosophy that ensures an uninterrupted football spectacle. | Why do clubs have sister clubs in Belgium?⚽🤔🛂 | 13 Sep 2023 | 00:00:59
The owners of famous English clubs like Manchester City, Brighton and Hove Albion, and Leicester City have bought majority shares in Belgian clubs Lommel SK, Union SG, and OH Leuven, respectively. But why? In recent years, Belgium has emerged as a football powerhouse and developed several world-class players. However, beyond the obvious reasons, like creating a scouting network and player development pathway, having a sister club in Belgium solves one major problem. The clubs find it very difficult to acquire uncovered talents from non-European countries due to stringent visa regulations in the UK. On the other hand, Belgium is known for its seamless and quick immigration and visa processes. The country also allows dual citizenship. The players can acquire Belgian passports and access the valuable EU player quota, which makes their transfer to the parent club a lot easier. Brighton's Kaoru Mitoma was signed from Kawasaki Frontale on a four-year contract, but the Japanese spent his first year on loan at Union SG. Subscribe for more interesting stories. | The Lights of Allianz Arena! 🏟️ | 06 Sep 2023 | 00:00:57
The beautiful lights of Bayern Munich’s home, the Allianz Arena, were actually a solution to a practical problem. Before shifting to their new home in 2005, Bayern used to play their home games at the Olympiastadion, which they also shared with TSV 1860 Munich. While planning, it was decided that the new stadium would be used by both clubs, which raised a unique challenge. How do you build a stadium with two different colour themes? To overcome this, the architects came up with an innovative solution. They covered the entire structure with inflated ETFE plastic panels, which could change colours, turning the stadium into a vibrant display of red and white for Bayern Munich matches, blue and white for TSV 1860 Munich, and even other colours for special events. However, facing bankruptcy in 2006, 1860 had to sell their 50% share to their rivals. Bayern eventually terminated 1860's rental agreement, taking complete ownership of the stadium in 2017. | Dr. Talimeren Ao - Indian who rejected Arsenal! 🇮🇳⚽ | 26 Aug 2023 | 00:00:59
Here is the story of an Indian footballer who rejected Arsenal to fulfil his father’s wish. Born in 1918, Talimeren Ao captivated football fans with his skill and determination. Ao’s reputation as a talented player earned him a place in the Mohun Bagan squad in 1943. He went on to lead the club years later. Talimeren was the first-ever captain of independent India in an official international match at the 1948 London Olympics. Interestingly, on his way back, Ao received an offer that any footballer would dream of—a chance to play for the legendary Arsenal Football Club. The Indian, however, had different plans. Talimeren saw his father die of typhoid when he was young, and his father’s last wish was to see him as a doctor. Ao remembered his promise to his late father and turned down the offer. Instead, he chose to continue his career in medicine. Dr. Talimeren Ao completed his MBBS in 1950 and spent the rest of his life serving his countrymen. A true legend on and off the pitch. | Who is Tottenham’s new manager Ange Postecoglu?🐓🆕👨💼🤔 | 13 Aug 2023 | 00:00:59
Tottenham’s new manager, Ange Postecoglu, arrives at the club with just three years of experience in Europe. Born in Greece, the Australian coach gained prominence for his high-pressing tactics, attacking gameplay, and impressive goal-scoring record during his time in Asia. Ange is known for boldly getting rid of older players and injecting fresh blood into the squad. His fearless and uncompromising personality almost cost him his job during a live TV interview early in his career. However, what intrigued Spurs was his stellar track record of winning trophies. The AFC Asian Cup with the Australian National Team, the A-League with Brisbane Roar, the J1 League with Yokohama F. Marinos, and the domestic treble with Celtic last season were enough to prove his credentials as a serial winner. But will he succeed at a club where Mourinho failed? Or is this just an arrangement to revamp Tottenham and prepare for life after Harry Kane? Only time will tell. Subscribe for more interesting stories. | Most financially sustainable club in Europe! ⚽💰💪 | 05 Aug 2023 | 00:00:59
In a football world where big-money clubs like Barcelona are in billions of euros of debt, a modest club is quietly setting the financial sustainability standards. According to a report published by Off the Pitch in 2022, Atalanta emerged as the most financially robust club in Europe. Despite the COVID-19 pandemic, the club registered a profit for the sixth year in a row and accumulated over €175 million in net profits. Interestingly, the Italian club’s key to success lies in its exceptional scouting system. From 2016 to 2021, Atalanta made almost €250 million in profits from player sales while continuously improving its on-field performances. The club qualified for UEFA competitions for five consecutive seasons, which saw its revenue triple during this period. Nevertheless, the club remained sensible with its expenses. Atalanta’s 47.4% wage-to-turnover ratio in 2021 was by far the lowest in Serie A. Sources: Off the Pitch and The Hindu Subscribe for more interesting stories. | How Chelsea spent £500 million in transfers!?💰⚽🔁🤔 | 30 Jul 2023 | 00:00:55
Modern football has witnessed an escalation in transfer fees, with astronomical figures being exchanged to acquire coveted talents. To keep the clubs financially sustainable and maintain competitiveness in the league, the Premier League introduced Financial Fair Play (FFP) regulations. Under the FFP rules, a team could register a maximum loss of £105 million over the previous three seasons, making it difficult for them to make big-money moves to acquire top talents. However, Chelsea's management came up with a clever strategy to spend over £500 million in transfers last season. The Blues decided to offer extraordinary long-term contracts to their new signings. This allowed the club to spread the transfer fees over the contract duration, using "amortisation." By doing so, Chelsea dodged the FFP regulations, but the strategy could also backfire in the long run. If a player fails to match expectations, he could be a huge financial liability for years to come. Sources: ESPN and Transfermarkt Subscribe for more interesting stories. | One mistake footballers should STOP making right now! ⚽️❎🤕 | 19 Mar 2025 | 00:01:16
One mistake footballers should stop making right now! I have met several footballers complaining of pain in their shins, knees, ankles, and hip joints. In fact, I suffered from pain in my joints for years. After spending months and a lot of money on physiotherapy and medication, I found out that I had been making one big mistake. It has nothing to do with diet. It has nothing to do with training either. The real problem was football studs. Most footballers (excluding professionals) play and train on hard grounds without any grass and high-quality turfs. Football studs don't provide any cushion, putting a lot of stress on their joints, which causes pain. Now here's the solution: Football trainers. Trainers not only provide cushion but also give you a better grip on hard ground. As soon as I replaced studs with trainers, my joint pain was gone. Now here's a pro tip. If the budget allows, I recommend you buy a set of football studs and trainers of the same brand, same model, and same size. This will allow you the flexibility to switch your footwear seamlessly according to the surface. You can wear trainers for training and studs for matchdays. This worked for me, and I am sure this will work for you as well. Subscribe for more interesting stories. | More than just a kit launch! ⚽👕🚀 | 22 Jul 2023 | 00:00:55
Arsenal’s kit launches are different. The Gunners leverage the traditional excitement surrounding a new kit to create a positive social impact. The 2019/20 home jersey launch video featured local businesses, providing them with free promotions. In January 2022, the club went a step further and initiated the No More Red campaign. Diverging from their iconic red, Arsenal introduced an all-white kit to address the record number of teenage murders in London. Last season, Arsenal pledged to donate £5 for every home jersey sold to support local community initiatives. Whether it be Brentford’s jersey with a heart-shaped QR that encouraged people to learn the basics of CPR or Real Madrid’s kit made from recycled ocean plastic, there has been an upsurge in sports marketing campaigns with a positive community impact. And this trend is expected to amplify, as people may not buy a product, but they certainly want to be a part of something meaningful. | The 50+1 Rule! 🇩🇪⚽ | 05 Jul 2023 | 00:00:59
The 50+1 football ownership rule in Germany is a regulation that ensures majority control of a football club remains with its fans or members. In simple terms, it means that no single entity or investor can own more than 50% plus one share of a club’s voting rights. However, there are some exceptions. If a company or investor has continuously supported a club for over 20 years, they can acquire majority ownership with approval from the German Football League (DFL), like in the case of Bayer Leverkusen, VfL Wolfsburg, and TSG Hoffenheim. Although Red Bull does not have a 20-year history of supporting Leipzig, they obtained an exception by reforming the club’s ownership and establishing a membership structure that includes fan representation. | Sadhguru helped Everton to beat Liverpool! 🧘♂️⚽ | 28 Jun 2023 | 00:00:59
In 2010, Sadhguru visited Everton’s training ground on an invitation. Coincidentally, it happened to be a day just before the highly anticipated Merseyside derby. The Toffees had not beaten Liverpool in many years, and their victory seemed impossible against a Reds side with names like Steven Gerrard and Fernando Torres. After kicking the ball in his sandals and flowing robe, Sadhguru sat down with the team to share some unconventional tricks and techniques. One strange tactic involved presenting the Liverpool players with flowers wrapped in barbed wire just before the match while they were in the tunnel. Additionally, Sadhguru advised the Everton players to say nice things to their opponents to make them feel as if it was a friendly. Astonishingly, Everton beat Liverpool 2-0. The echoes of Sadhguru’s name filled the dressing room as elated players celebrated victory after the match. Sources: Sadhguru Subscribe for more interesting stories. From the suburbs of Kerala to helping Chelsea win the Champions League, here is the story of Vinay Menon. The Blues wellness consultant and mind strategist is perhaps the most celebrated yoga trainer in the football fraternity. After completing his education in sports psychology, physical education, and yoga therapy, Menon started working at a luxury spa resort based in Rishikesh. This was where he got in touch with rich and famous people. During a visit to Dubai, fate intervened as Vinay crossed paths with Russian business tycoon and Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich. Soon, Vinay became a yoga instructor for the Abramovich family. Impressed with his skills, Roman extended an offer to join Chelsea in 2008. Since then, Menon has helped stars like Drogba, Hazard, and De Bruyne relieve stress, activate their inner energies, and bring the best out of them. | Rodri - Incredible Player, Ordinary Lifestyle! 👀 | 17 Jun 2023 | 00:00:58
Professional footballers are style icons. They are known for living a very lavish lifestyle. However, Manchester City star Rodri is an exception. He doesn't wear earrings and likes to keep a simple haircut. It is believed that Rodri doesn’t have any tattoos, so he can donate blood. What makes him even more special is that he doesn’t have social media. During his days in Villarreal, the Spanish international completed a degree in business administration and management while living in student halls. According to some sources, he contributes a quarter of his salary to charities and was driving a second-hand Opel Corsa up until recently. But what’s the reason behind Rodri’s humble lifestyle? Interestingly, the midfielder always wanted to live an ordinary life. For Rodri, family is the most important thing. Football comes second. His family always wanted him to be well-educated because they think football is a lottery. Rodri, like an obedient son, has followed this ever since. | Inter’s blessing in disguise!🇮🇹🔵⚫ | 10 Jun 2023 | 00:00:59
Inter Milan has reached the Champions League Final by spending a fraction of fellow finalists Manchester City. The Nerazzurri lineup that started against AC Milan in the semifinals was comprised of three free transfers and a loanee. Additionally, four players were in their thirties. Dzeko and Mkhitaryan created history as two players aged 34 or more scored in a Champions League knockout game for the first time. Interestingly, the Italian club invested just €114 million in transfers to assemble a Champions League semifinal starting eleven, while Manchester City spent a staggering €638 million. However, it's not Inter’s shrewd scouting strategy. The club has been in financial trouble for many years. Despite winning the Scudetto in 2021, the debt forced Inter to sell its star players, Romelu Lukaku and Achraf Hakimi. Nevertheless, Inter’s constrained squad could prove to be a blessing in disguise if they manage to win the coveted trophy after 13 years. But will Guardiola's City let it slip again? | Fans who bleed for their club, FC Union Berlin!➕🇩🇪🔠 | 02 Jun 2023 | 00:00:58
This is the remarkable tale of fans who bleed for their beloved club. FC Union Berlin has been a surprise package in the Bundesliga this season. After remaining a title contender for most of the season, the club qualified for the UEFA Champions League. It’s quite an achievement for a club that was promoted to the Bundesliga for the first time just four years ago. Yet what truly sets Union Berlin apart is the unwavering dedication of its supporters. When the club was on the verge of bankruptcy in 2004, fans initiated the "Bleed for Union" campaign. As people get paid to donate blood in Germany, several fans donated blood and contributed the amount collected to save the club. Four years later, the ageing stadium terraces jeopardised the club's licence. In an extraordinary display of unity, 2,500 Union fans volunteered and put in a combined 140,000 hours of work to renovate the stadium, cutting costs and ensuring the club's survival. | FPL Winner Stuart Broad!🔮⚽🏆🏴🏏 | 26 May 2023 | 00:00:59
Gameweek 37 of the 2017-18 FPL season saw one of the most unexpected winners. England international cricketer Stuart Broad won the Manager of the Week award after beating almost six million fantasy managers. The fast bowler’s bench boost chip was absolutely spot on. 46 points from captain Aubameyang and 19 points from West Ham goalkeeper Adrián helped him reach 169 points. Coincidentally, this points total is exactly the same as his highest batting score in international cricket. The former England captain scored 169 runs in a test match against Pakistan at Lord’s in August 2010 as he put up a world record 332-run eighth-wicket partnership with fellow centurion Jonathan Trott. This is still the second-highest score by any number nine batsman in test cricket. Broad rates his FPL achievement among his top three career highlights and still takes it very seriously. He loves to drive his friends crazy at home by serving tea in the same cup he received as a prize. Sources: The Premier League and SkySports Subscribe for more interesting stories. | Played BOTH ICC & FIFA World Cups - Ellyse Perry 🏏⚽🏆🤯 | 15 Mar 2025 | 00:01:16
There is a saying by Confucius, "The man who chases two rabbits catches neither.". But here is an exception. Today, I will tell you about a sportsperson who played in both the ICC and FIFA World Cups. In a world where breaking into one sport is a lifetime challenge, Ellyse Perry mastered two. Born in 1990, Perry was exposed to multiple sports during her childhood. At just 16, she made history by representing Australia in both football and cricket. The 2009 Women's World Cup held in Australia was her first major ICC tournament. Two years later, she was also selected for Australia's national team for the 2011 FIFA Women's World Cup in Germany. By coming on as a substitute in Australia's first group match against Norway, she became the first Australian athlete to have played in both FIFA and ICC World Cups. And that's not all; playing as a defender, she also scored in the second group encounter against Sweden. As far as cricket is concerned, she is regarded as one of the greatest of all time. Her major trophies include 2 World Cups, 6 T20 World Cups, a Commonwealth Games Gold medal, and a Women's Premier League Title representing Royal Challengers Bengaluru. When the world says you can only chase one dream, Ellyse Perry shows you can rewrite the rules. Subscribe for more interesting stories. | The Regista - Andrea Pirlo! 🇮🇹⚽🪄 | 19 May 2023 | 00:00:56
“I spent the afternoon sleeping and playing the PlayStation. In the evening, I went out and won the World Cup.” Here is the story of Andrea Pirlo, described as “a silent leader who speaks with his feet” by former Azzurri manager Marcello Lippi. A key figure in AC Milan’s iconic team of the 2000s, Pirlo reinvented the defensive midfield position in football. He controlled the game’s tempo and instigated attacks as a deep-lying playmaker, or regista, which means director in English. After Milan did not renew his contract in 2011, citing that he was too old, the midfield maestro joined Juventus Football Club. In his debut season at Turin, Pirlo, like fine wine, created over 100 chances and registered the most assists in the league, helping the Old Lady win their first Serie A title in nine years. But what made Pirlo one of the greatest midfielders of all time? “Football is played with the head. Your feet are just the tools,” the Italian revealed. Subscribe for more interesting stories. | Leicester City’s planned transfer strategy! 🦊🔁🧠 | 13 May 2023 | 00:00:59
Leicester City has been applying a planned transfer strategy since winning the Premier League in 2016. Except for the 2021–22 COVID-impacted season, the Foxes sold only one key player every year. This allowed the club to maintain a competitive squad while keeping its transfer budget in check. It started when N’Golo Kante was sold to Chelsea in 2016. Danny Drinkwater, Riyad Mahrez, Harry Maguire, and Ben Chilwell also left the club in the following seasons. This season, however, the departure of Wesley Fofana and club captain Kasper Schmeichel was not on the cards. Transfer deadline day panic signing Wout Faes and stand-by goalkeeper Danny Ward failed to fill their boots. Long-term injuries to Jonny Evans, Ricardo Pereira, and James Justin worsened the situation, pushing the Foxes into the relegation scrap. Nevertheless, Leicester’s net transfer spend over the last seven seasons stands at £115 million, averaging just over £16 million per year, which is peanuts at the Premier League level. | Stadium deal of the century! ⚒️🏟️🤝 | 06 May 2023 | 00:00:59
West Ham hammered out a stupendous London Stadium deal with the government in 2013. Originally built for the 2012 London Olympics, the 60,000-seater venue is the fourth-largest stadium in the Premier League. According to the 99-year lease agreement, the Hammers contributed £15 million as a one-off stadium redevelopment cost and accepted £2.5 million as yearly rent, which was increased to £3.6 million per year in 2022. The club keeps the entire ticket revenue, while the income from other sources is shared. In return, the government looks after the operations, from cleaning and maintenance to goalposts and corner flags. Interestingly, the initial construction cost of the stadium was £486 million, and a further £323 million was invested largely from public funds to make it suitable for football. West Ham’s home still remains a burden for the taxpayers, as the government registered a net loss of £31.1 million from running the stadium in 2022. | Brentford’s Unique Player Development Programme! 🐝⚽👦 | 29 Apr 2023 | 00:00:59
All major football clubs have academies, but not Brentford. After facing a lot of opposition, the Bees decided to shut down their academy in 2016, citing that investing £2 million per year is bad for business. Instead of competing against top clubs for academy players, the club established a reserve team. The Brentford B team is made up of 17–21-year-old players released from Premier League academies and talents from undervalued overseas markets. It has its own football calendar, which includes friendlies against teams like Manchester United, Liverpool, and Bayern Munich. The club’s experiment has been quite successful so far, with over 20 players graduating to the first team. The most prolific of them, Chris Mepham, was sold to Bournemouth for £12 million in 2019. However, as per the Premier League’s latest youth development regulations, Brentford needs to reopen its academy before the start of the 2024–25 season. Whether it will be with or without their reserve team, only time will tell. Source: The Guardian Subscribe for more interesting stories. From placing bets using fake IDs as a teenager to owning a Premier League club, here is the story of Tony Bloom. The current Brighton and Hove Albion chairman is regarded as the Godfather of Gambling. After graduating in maths from the University of Manchester, Tony started his career as a trader. But soon he discovered his talent at playing poker and betting on sports and horse racing. He ditched his job in the early 90s and turned into a professional gambler. Popularly known as Lizard for his calmness at the poker table, Tony also runs a betting consultancy firm named Starlizard. Reportedly, the company generates £100 million every year by catering only to clients with a minimum betting budget of £2 million. Though Tony keeps a low profile, it is believed that his net worth exceeds £1 billion. | The Hillsborough Disaster! ⚽️🏟️💔😔 | 15 Apr 2023 | 00:00:59
15 April 1989 is regarded as one of the darkest dates in the history of football. 97 Liverpool supporters lost their lives as a result of the human crush that happened during the FA Cup semi-final tie between Liverpool and Nottingham Forest at Sheffield Wednesday’s Hillsborough Stadium. Initially, the police blamed fans, citing hooliganism and drunkenness as the causes of the incident. However, justice was served in 2012, when the police match commander, David Duckenfield, finally admitted his mistake. With thousands of fans yet to enter the stadium just before kickoff, David ordered his team to open the exit gates. This led to overcrowding in the stands, and people started suffocating. Fans in the front rows were trampled and crushed against the fences. Since the Hillsborough disaster, the club has always shown solidarity with those who perished and their families. A mark of memory on the back of every Liverpool jersey symbolises that they will never walk alone. Subscribe for more interesting stories. | India’s shortcut to FIFA World Cup? 🇮🇳▶️🏆 | 08 Apr 2023 | 00:00:59
Former Liverpool Academy graduate Yan Dhanda expressed his desire to play for India recently. With his grandparents from Punjab, Yan is one of the most prolific foreign-born Indian-origin footballers, alongside Bayern’s attacking midfielder Sarpreet Singh. Interestingly, the push for Overseas Citizens of India (OCI) and Persons of Indian Origin (PIO) to improve the Indian national football team is not contemporary. Head Coach Bob Houghton tried to add ex-Newcastle United striker Michael Chopra to the Indian squad in 2006. Igor Stimac also showed interest in Iran’s Indian-origin player Omid Singh not so long ago. However, due to stern regulations, Japan-born Izumi Arata is the only PIO to obtain an Indian passport and represent the Blue Tigers so far. At the global stage, it is absolutely common to have foreign-born players in the national teams. 137 players from 28 nations were not born in the country they represented at the FIFA World Cup 2022. | How IPL impacts Indian Football! 🏏🇮🇳⚽👀 | 30 Mar 2023 | 00:00:59
"Indian football calendar is adjusted according to IPL, this needs to stop", says Indian national team coach Igor Stimac. Unlike most countries, where a football league typically runs for nine months, the Indian Super League finishes in less than six months. Many, including Stimac, believe that the main reason behind the curtailed football season is IPL. Interestingly, Star Network owns the TV broadcasting rights of IPL and ISL, and having two separate windows minimises audience distribution and maximises revenue for the company. However, this is drastically impacting football development in India. International matches are not so frequent in football, and its popularity mainly relies on club competitions. As seen in European countries, the best way to promote football is by having a properly structured domestic season and creating a fan culture. "India is blessed to have a sport as popular as cricket, but football shouldn’t suffer because of it," the Croatian insisted. | Mancini’s Class Act! | 25 Mar 2023 | 00:00:54
Roberto Mancini surprised everyone by substituting goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma with veteran Salvatore Sirigu in the 89th minute of the final group stage encounter between Italy and Wales at the Euro 2020. With the Italians leading 1-0 and already qualified for the Round of 16, the Azzurri manager took the opportunity to ensure that 25 out of the 26 squad members have been on the pitch in the competition. The only player who remained without any playing time was third-choice goalkeeper Alex Meret. Interestingly, Mancini’s class act was inspired by the biggest regret of his life. At the 1990 FIFA World Cup, Roberto was the only member of the Italian team not to receive any playing time. What happened with him as a player, he didn’t let it happen as a manager. Italy eventually went on to lift the 2020 Euro trophy, with Mancini winning several hearts along the way. Sources: Mirror and GiveMeSport Subscribe for more interesting stories. | Manchester City Exposed! | 18 Mar 2023 | 00:00:58
Manchester City has been charged by the Premier League for breaching more than 100 financial rules since the Abu Dhabi takeover in 2008. According to the latest investigation, the money coming from the owners, which should count as equity, was used to artificially inflate the commercial revenue in the books, especially through the Etihad Airways sponsorship deal. Also, the managers were given contracts from other companies owned by the club owners to deflate the club’s operational costs. Apparently, the citizens manipulated the club's finances to abide by UEFA’s Financial Fair Play regulations. In 2020, UEFA handed Manchester City a 2-year ban from European competitions for breaching FFP regulations. However, the decision was later overturned by the Court of Arbitration for Sport. If found guilty, the club could face punishments ranging from warnings and fines to points deduction, stripping of their titles, and possible expulsion from the Premier League. | The Skill That Made Frank Lampard a Midfield Legend! 💫⚽️ | 13 Mar 2025 | 00:00:47
One skill that made Frank Lampard one of the greatest Premier League midfielders of all time! Watch this small clip. In this 10-second clip, Lampard scanned the pitch 7 times. It may look like a very easy skill, but let me tell you it is not. No matter how much you tell yourself that you will check your shoulder during the game, you tend to forget it as soon as the match kicks off. But how did Frank develop this skill? The answer is his father, Frank Lampard Senior, who himself was a West Ham legend. During Lampard's early days in football, his father used to shout, "Pictures, pictures, pictures" from the sidelines, reminding him to scan the pitch all the time. What started as a constant reminder from his father became his habit. And this very habit made Lampard one of the greatest midfielders of his generation. Subscribe for more interesting stories. | What happened when LeBron met Zlatan?! | 11 Mar 2023 | 00:00:59
Renowned for scoring outrageous goals and having an eccentric personality, Zlatan Ibrahimovic moved to the LA Galaxy in 2018. On his arrival, a full-page ad was published in the local newspaper saying "Dear Los Angeles, You’re welcome," with Zlatan's signature at the bottom. Whether it was his rivalry with Carlos Vela or criticising the MLS playoff system, Ibrahimovic was never far from making newspaper headlines. However, one particular instance during his time in America stands out. When basketball legend LeBron James joined the LA Lakers, Zlatan welcomed him by tweeting, "Now LA has a God and a King!" As a gesture of gratitude, LeBron sent Ibrahimovic his jersey. Guess what Zlatan did next? He signed the jersey and sent it back. Call it arrogance or confidence. Quite an acceptable attitude from a player who dominated the MLS in his late thirties by scoring 53 goals in 58 matches. Subscribe for more interesting stories. Today, Au Vodka is one of the most popular vodka brands on the internet. Famous for its golden bottles, the British ultra-premium brand is endorsed by celebrities like Ronaldinho, Jake Paul, and Floyd Mayweather. The company sold over 2 million bottles in more than 40 countries last year. | Wout Weghorst was scouted using data! 📊🔍😲 | 27 Feb 2023 | 00:00:56
Wout Weghorst was scouted using data during the early days of his career. In the summer of 2014, the Eredivisie side Heracles Almelo approached sports analytics company Scisports to find a young centre forward who was good in the penalty box and could also play as a target man up top. Having two strikers already, the club could only afford a player on loan or a free transfer. After applying several filters to Scisports’ extensive player database, the reserve striker of Dutch second-division team FC Emmen stood out. His name was Wout Weghorst. Despite limited playing opportunities, Scisports’ scientific models suggested that the 6’6" striker was often in the right place at the right time and scored crucial goals for the team. Heracles eventually signed Weghorst for free. In the second season at Almelo, Weghorst returned 15 goals before he was sold to AZ Alkmaar for €1.5 million.
