| Is Traditional Education Broken? Our Honest Thoughts on the School System | 31 Mar 2026 | 00:21:25 | |
The debate around education is everywhere right now. With so many families championing a return to public school so children can "face adversity," we decided it was time to sit down and share our honest thoughts on the modern education system. In this episode, we explore the pros, cons, and missing elements of both traditional and alternative education. We discuss why the current school model often fails to teach practical life skills, like financial intelligence, and how the pressure to follow a traditional path can sometimes feel like a race to nowhere. We also talk about the influence of standardized testing and why learning should be about true understanding rather than just memorizing dates for a test. Most importantly, we dive into the one non-negotiable factor that matters more than any curriculum or classroom setting. Whether you choose public school, private school, micro-schools, or homeschooling, we discuss exactly how to ensure you remain the loudest, most influential voice in your child's head. Episode Highlights: 0:00 The current debate around public school versus alternative education. 0:55 Are traditional education models antiquated? 2:25 The practical life skills missing from the classroom. 6:20 What happens when you step outside the traditional education path. 8:20 Breaking down the college stigma and the corporate ladder. 11:19 Who is really prioritizing the students in the current system? 15:16 Overcoming the fear of choosing an alternative education route. 17:04 The ultimate rule for parents: Be the loudest voice in your child's life. 20:39 True learning versus rote memorization. | |||

| Providing A Safe And Loving Environment For Children In Need with Rhonda Paulson | 01 Jun 2022 | 00:41:55 | |
There is a growing recognition that the child welfare system cannot provide all of the services needed by the families and children who seek assistance from child welfare agencies, but thanks to Rhonda Paulson, who genuinely offers adequate support and services to the children and families she serves. Listen to today's motivational episode and become one of the many chosen few to give love and support to those in need! Key takeaways to listen for
Resources mentioned in this episode Mike Rowe: Returning the Favor (The Woman Changing the Foster Care System)
About Rhonda Paulson Rhonda and her husband went through Path Training to become foster parents in 2014. They took a class at the Washington County DCS office as part of their training. They were reminded during that lesson that when children are removed from their homes, they frequently have to come to the DCS office and wait for placement. She couldn't imagine a fearful child sitting in such a sterile, frigid environment, as she peered about the cubicle-filled facility. That's when she realized God had placed the Isaiah 117 House on her heart. The Isaiah 117 House is her dream and Isaiah 1:17 says, "defend the cause of the fatherless," which she believes is what God is asking her to do. She envisions a house with a girl's bedroom, a boy's bedroom, a completely equipped bathroom, a playroom, a nursery, and so on. She sees a group of volunteers, two at a time, on standby to greet "the least of these" when they are in need of love the greatest. She sees a sanctuary that is always ready to take in the children of this region in their time of need and assist them through what is unavoidably a difficult adjustment. She believes that this facility has the ability to favorably impact the children who are being held in custody in ways that we could never anticipate. Connect with Rhonda

Stay tuned to learn how to align your family values and have better long-term results. Key takeaways to listen for
Resources mentioned in this episode
About Rick Sapio Rick is a life-long entrepreneur who started his first business, a bicycle repair shop, after the death of his father when he was just 13 years old. Since that time he has founded more than 20 companies. Rick is the seventh of nine children raised by a mother with serious, life-long mental-health issues. He learned early in life that it's best to think positively about the cards one's been dealt; no matter how difficult those cards seem. Since 1994, Rick has been the founder and CEO of Mutual Capital Alliance, Inc. ("MCA"), a financial holding company. MCA both directly, and through its affiliated funds, has invested into more than 120 different companies. He is a founding GP of Mutual Capital Partners, a private equity firm, since 2003. He is also the founder of the USA Mutuals family of funds, since 2001. Rick is the founding and six-time Chairman of the Gathering of Titans Program. This annual event – currently in its 15th year - is an "entrepreneurs-only" gathering of successful business leaders focused on making the world a better place. This event takes place annually at MIT in Boston. He is a graduate of Rutgers University with a B.S. in Engineering. In 2018, Rick co-authored and published, Who's In Your Room, a unique book and platform that advocates that the quality of one's life is dependent on the quality of the people in their life. In the 4 decades since he started his first business, Rick has learned that business growth and success are accelerated when a few key principles are applied. When Rick realized that less than 1% of companies implement these skills, he created "The 12 Foundational Principles of Business;" which form the foundation of his BFS program. He believes that virtually any individual or company can be put on the straightforward path to prosperity and exponential growth, by learning to implement these principles. Rick resides in Dallas with his wife, Melissa, and their four young children. Connect with Rick Website: Who's In Your Room

Then, in November of 2016, Hal nearly died again—his kidneys, lungs, and heart on the verge of failing, which led to his being diagnosed with a very rare, very aggressive form of cancer (acute lymphoblastic leukemia). After enduring the most difficult year of his life, Hal is now cancer-free and furthering his mission as the Executive Producer of The Miracle Morning Movie—a documentary that both shows you the morning rituals of some of the world's most successful people, as well as takes you around the world to show you the life-changing impact that Miracle Mornings are having, globally. Hal is also the host of the highly acclaimed Achieve Your Goals podcast, creator of the Best Year Ever Blueprint Live Experience, and bestselling author of ten [10] books in The Miracle Morning book series. As one of the most inspiring, highly entertaining (we're talking "wannabe stand-up comedian" level humor!), and one of the most in-demand keynote speakers in the world, whether you are an individual or an organization, Hal will give you the tools to Wake Up to Your Full Potential.

| Empowering Children to Make Better Choices with Steve & Henry Sims | 01 Dec 2021 | 00:44:16 | |
Identity formation is a significant adolescent developmental process that involves transitioning from childhood dependency to adult responsibility for one's needs, interests, impulses, goals, and desires. Today, Steve & Henry Sims share the importance of peer groups and role model observations in helping children develop a greater sense of self-confidence, personality, connection to others, and making personal decisions. Key takeaways to listen for
Resources mentioned in this episode
About Steve & Henry Sims Steve Sims has been running his luxury travel and lifestyle concierge firm, Bluefish, for more than twenty years. With his unique talent for connecting with people's passions, opening doors, and making things happen, Sims has developed an exclusive reputation and impressive client list of the world's rich and famous. Bluefish has offices around the world and has been featured in Forbes, The New York Times, Entrepreneur, Variety, Worth, CNBC, and many other media outlets. Sims is also a keynote speaker at venues including Harvard and the Pentagon, and has spoken at many top entrepreneurial groups, including Mastermind Talks, Genius Networking Events, and Entrepreneur Society of SF. He lives in Los Angeles with his wife, kids, dogs, and a lot of motorcycles. Growing up, Henry saw firsthand the good, the bad, and the constant roller coaster that is the life of an entrepreneur. Frankly, opting-in to this lifestyle seemed bizarre. Instead, he let his analytical mind and passion for motorcycles direct him into Mechanical Engineering at Oregon State University. He enjoyed it and very quickly ranked at the top of many of his classes, but being an entrepreneur was in his blood and it didn't take long before he realized that his skills, thought process, and goals best fit into the life of an entrepreneur. Where so many entrepreneurs suffer from shiny object syndrome and end up confusing themselves and sometimes harming their own business, Henry is able to build clarity, simplicity, and action into every element of a driven entrepreneur's marketing and branding. He utilized all of his skills for analyzing data and systems to start a small digital marketing firm where he could analyze the marketing and branding efforts of his clients and optimize it for greater returns with less effort. It grew to a very healthy number of clients that relied on his ability and analytical mind to formulate the best way to expand their brand and message into the market they desired to be in. Derek and Melanie Coburn join us to share how they managed to pivot their family and business during the pandemic to remain successful. Key takeaways to listen for
Resources mentioned in this episode Networking Is Not Working by Derek Coburn About Derek Coburn Derek Coburn began his career as a financial advisor in 1998 and built a successful wealth management practice – which still runs today – mainly through cold-calling in the early years, and then networking. When the economy took a turn for the worse in 2008, he had to devote his time to his existing client and left him less time for networking and learning. He joined high-level networking groups and professional organizations, where he met some great people. He co-founded CADRE, along with his wife Melanie, in 2011 as a way for elite professionals to learn from the top experts in the world while connecting and developing meaningful relationships with like-minded peers. About Melanie Coburn After 14 years at the Washington Football team, Melanie grew a very diverse network of clients, partners, and friends and focused on building these relationships over time. She firmly believes that by deepening your existing relationships, you ultimately expand your network by cultivating word-of-mouth marketers among these connections. She built the business side of the (formerly known as the Redskins) Cheerleaders from the ground up, as the first person in the NFL to hold this position. With the Cheerleaders, she used to say she was in the business of smiles.
