| To Answer "What is a Personal Brand", Get in Touch with Yourself Is the First Step_Joanne Z. Tan_Season 2, Episode 47 | 02 Feb 2025 | 00:06:42 | |
Being true to yourself is the key to unlock what is a personal brand, - your own unique brand.
There is a gift in each and everyone of you. It may be a gift of kindness, a gift of contentment, a gift of language, a gift using your hands, … Just being yourself without any observable or useful “gifts”, is a gift. There is only one of you on this Planet. You are a gift of life in your own unique way. Start to treasure that gift - yourself. Then you will have peace. Then you can have loving relationships. Then you have a personal brand. That’s the beginning of truly living your life.

| Episode 57: Term Limits for US Supreme Court Justices; Investigation & Impeachment of Justice Thomas & Other Perjurers | 26 Jun 2022 | 00:06:24 | |
No one is above the law, not even a Supreme Court Justice
PLEASE share. Please take actions such as sending a message to your congressmen and senators, to DOJ, and other lawmakers in Congress. Do it now! To watch, listen to, and read this as a video To read it as a blog The US Supreme Court’s justices, like other branches of the federal government, must be checked and balanced by the legislative and the law enforcement branches, with investigation, impeachment, suspension, and removal in case of high crimes and misdemeanors. The US Constitution never assumed SCOTUS to be above the law, and be shielded from civil and criminal liabilities. In light of some justices' possible perjuries re Roe vs. Wade during confirmation hearings, and Clarence Thomas' possible aiding and abetting his wife's criminal conspiracy to overthrow 2020 Presidential Election, Congress and DOJ: Please take these two actions:We ask the US Congress and the US Department of Justice to immediately initiate these actions: (1) The Department of Justice must investigate and the House needs to initiate impeachments against those justices who lied under oath during confirmation hearings about not overturning Roe, and pursue perjury charges against these lying US Supreme Court Justices. (2) The Department of Justice must investigate and the House needs to initiate impeachment against Justice Clarence Thomas for any level of criminal aiding and abetting his wife’s criminal participation in the conspiracy to overturn the 2020 Presidential Election. Term limits for Every Supreme Court JusticeWe the people additionally must take action to impose term limits for all SCOTUS: A constitutional amendment must be introduced by the legislature, to limit every SCOTUS' term to be about 18 years, as advocated by Stanford Professor Larry Diamond in his book “Ill Winds”. | Episode 56: How to do more with less in brand marketing during inflation | 20 Jun 2022 | 00:03:41
- To read it as a blog - To watch it as a video To stay in the loop, subscribe to our Newsletter The 1st insight is: do more with less. Just like more food results in more weight and health problems, more marketing in an indiscriminately what-others-are-doing fashion can be a waste of money, and gets you nowhere. How can you get the most bang for your marketing buck, especially with inflation-induced shrinking budgets? (Hint: Starting with the low hanging fruit, such as a LinkedIn profile and/or a website.) The 2nd insight is slow and steady wins the race. Many people try to lose weight by starvation, deprivation, yo-yo dieting--all to no avail. Sticking to Noom’s slow but steady course of physical activity, psychological tricks, and mental reinforcement every day proves to be the winning recipe for my success. In brand marketing, consistent and persistent efforts over time have led to more profitability, influence, and success for our clients. I am giving away many nuggets in the form of a slide presentation as a video, available as paid content. Please download the slide by clicking “paid content” at https://10plusbrand.substack.com/subscribe, by choosing either monthly or yearly plan. This is Joanne Tan, Brand Strategist and CEO of 10 Plus Brand. Stay tuned for the next load of nuggets: So you want to have your own podcast-- how to post, SEO, and promote your podcast, by yourself. | Episode 54: Will Smith’s Slap - What makes a man defend another woman? (And vice versa?) _ by 10 Plus Brand | 05 Apr 2022 | 00:05:50
Even though I wish Will Smith could have used the Oscar stage to first VERBALLY extract an apology from Chris Rock, instead of slapping him and using profanity, I know that Will Smith’s intention was out of his love for his wife and to defend his wife above and beyond any considerations for himself, such as being charged for assault, or being criticized, or even barred from the Academy. Cory Booker’s impassioned speech at Judge Ketanji Brown Jackson’s Supreme Court confirmation hearings moved her, himself, myself, and many others to tears. Even though it was a speech prepared in advance, it was delivered in such a heartfelt and compassionate way that it completely overpowered the vicious attacks Judge Jackson had endured during the hearing. I myself, as one of MANY women who have often fought our battles alone, defended ourselves and our honor alone, shared the tears of gratitude Judge Jackson shed, for the genuine understanding of what Cory Booker quotes Ginger Rogers as saying: “I did everything Fred Astaire did, but backwards and in heels.” Booker went on: “Nobody is gonna steal the joy,...” “You have earned this spot. You are worthy. You are a great American…. You’re here. And I know what it’s taken for you to sit in that seat.” The good and the great that came out of these two men moves me, and frankly, I know for a fact that I am not the only woman who wishes their quality in a man who deserves to be called a husband, or a partner, or a true friend, or a decent human being who gives a piece of his or her true self in an unjust or even humiliating situation. This kind of compassion and love is not limited to a man’s protection for another woman or vice versa. This kind of love transcends race, gender, nationality, and all barriers to humanity. You see it in so many non-Ukrainian volunteer fighters risking their lives in Ukraine, because they feel that the pain and suffering Ukrainians are going through is not something they can bear to watch on the sideline. to continue to listen, watch, or read this 5-minute narrative: - To read it as a blog - To watch it as a video - To stay in the loop, subscribe to our Newsletter

| Episode 53: 7 tips for making a brand video, by 10PlusBrand.com | 27 Mar 2022 | 00:03:34 | |
What is a brand video? Why is a brand video needed? What are the differences between a brand video and other videos? Where can a brand video be showcased? What assets are needed for making a brand video? How is it edited? How long should a brand video be? Is voice-over needed? Are acting talents necessary? What is the budget range for a brand video? ... As part of a book I am writing, “How to become a brand - Decode, Create, Amplify”, I will be sharing many tips for brand building. Before publishing the book, I will share some of my specific topics for paid subscribers to 10 Plus Brand’s newsletters. I will let you all know in advance before making any blogs as “for paid subscribers only”. If you want to know the 7 tips for a brand promotional video, please sign up as paid subscribers here.
The tips given as paid content, and other valuable proprietary information we are releasing every month, is at only $5/month, or $60/year. The paid content is based on years of experience in scripting, directing, filming and recording, editing and producing many brand promotional videos for insurance agencies, executive coaches, law firms, CFO and accounting services, a private museum, Silicon Valley engineering firms and technology startups, acupuncturists, interior designers, real estate brokers, and many other industrial, B2B and B2C companies, and individuals. Next paid content for Substack subscribers will be about “How to do digital marketing and social media marketing with any budget” A hint: Build a solid brand foundation first, before building the “3rd floor”: a brand video. The foundation is brand DNA decoding. The first floor is the brand’s structure, strategies, stories, in verbal narratives. The first, second “floors” will be addressed in Chapter One and Two (the blog form of which to be released later for paid newsletter subscribers). | Episode 52: Ukraine War and Americans’ Responsibilities | 13 Mar 2022 | 00:10:26
The Ukraine War as an intervention, unification, inspiration, and revelation of characters, both personal and national My older son has been serving in the US military for about 7 years. As soon as the Ukraine War broke out three weeks ago, he was deployed to a NATO country in Europe. Moments before he boarded the military plane, I said to him: “ My son, thank you for your service.” He was a little surprised to hear this from me, and I said: “In your own small ways, you are defending democracy, freedom, and our way of life.” I don’t know about you, but for me, after watching on TV the heart-breaking human suffering and devastation in Ukraine, I started to view my daily routines with a new appreciation. I realized that what I took for granted could be taken away, like what happened overnight to the suffering Ukrainians. What was a mundane daily routine three weeks ago now seems like privilege, - things like taking a walk and watching people walking their dogs or pushing strollers, even doing dishes in my kitchen that was not torn apart or bombed to rubbles, and sleeping in my own warm bed instead of the cold floor in a bunker… Seeing the heroic Ukrainians who would rather die to keep their freedom and their fledgling democracy, this war has awakened our consciousness about the evil of authoritarianism. As we witness the tragic loss of lives, smoldering rubble, destroyed cities, and millions of refugees, nothing is more agonizing than the feeling that one can do nothing, other than watching peaceful and innocent people suffer, while evil and violence is being brutally perpetrated. Like many of you, I want to do whatever is within my power to help Ukraine. Doing something, anything helps ease my own feelings of helplessness and agony, and puts my conscience at peace. So I have donated a sizable amount of money to NovaUkraine.org. We cannot take our democracy for granted. If you don’t have the financial resources to donate any amount, each and every one of us can at least do this: improve our OWN democracy, restore America as the beacon of hope and light, and strive for a more perfect union. By exercising and participating constructively in our democracy, by being good citizens, and by building a stronger American democracy, we are sending hopeful messages to the world that those who gave their lives for freedom and democracy did not make the ultimate sacrifice in vain. Please listen to the entire 10-minute podcast that also covered the following: - The war has united & inspired Americans & all democracies globally - We all shoulder the responsibility to protect , defend, and improve our democracy - A stress test of individuals, leaders, and the free world - “Stand for Something” - individually and nationally

| Episode 51: Joanne Z. Tan Interviews Jonathan Leidy on Building Young Men Mentally, Emotionally, Physically - _Interviews of Notables & Influencers | 05 Mar 2022 | 00:44:19 | |
Joanne Z Tan, CEO of 10 Plus Brand interviews Jonathan Leidy about Young Men's Ultimate Weekend that helps teenage boys grow mentally, emotionally, physically.
(Excerpt:) Joanne Tan: "In addition to "Interviews of Notables and Influencers", I also interview ordinary people doing extraordinary things. Today Jonathan Leidy is one of those unsung heroes. He is an ordinary person doing extraordinary things." "One Sunday evening I was watching TV while doing dishes. And then there came Lisa ling, "This is Life". And I heard in the background, "here is 'Pork Chop'". And as soon as the so-called "Pork Chop" started to talk,... I know that voice, that's Jonathan Leidy! Okay, great job, "Pork Chop". And then Lisa Ling described what this camp is all about. And the more I listened to it, the more I felt like, wow, this is great, from my perspective of a mother to two young men, knowing their struggles, and also as a humbly-learning-parent-for-life. And also seeing this school shooting, and mass shooting, and all perpetuated by young men, I really feel compelled to invite Jonathan on my podcast. And thank you, Jonathan, for this honor and privilege." (Jonathan Leidy:) "...So it gives everybody the opportunity to get outdoors to break up in teams, to lead teams, to go through physical and emotional challenges. And all of that is really under the guise of, I think, above all else, getting young men interacting with one another, and really understanding what makes each other tick, and really starting to relate to one another on a level that's much deeper than they might do today, you know, just over the computer somewhere..." ======================== (About 10 Plus Brand: In addition to the “whole 10 yards” of brand building, digital marketing, and content creation for business and personal brands, 10 Plus Brand Inc. also does NFT branding for Web3 Metaverse. This year, something peculiar happened-- previous years’ super bowl ads were all released weeks or days before the big game; this year, only about 35% of the ads have been pre-released two weeks before the game date on Feb. 13, 2022, and as of before the 56th Super Bowl, about 80% of commercials were released on the internet. Was it because companies are afraid of not making it to our top 3 best Super Bowl list? If that’s the case, we are very flattered. But forcing people to watch poorly made ads will make your captive audience more resentful of your brand. Bravo to the 80% brands that have pre released their Super Bowl ads ahead of the big game! Post game update: What a game! We stand by our prior picks, since no other ads were better than our top 3. | Episode 47: Joanne Z. Tan Interviews Rotten Tomatoes Co-founder on Creator Economy, Learn to Earn Education based on Web3 & NFT Metaverse - Interviews of Notables & Influencers | 15 Jan 2022 | 00:43:46
Web3, NFT, and Metaverse will decentralize education into learn-to-earn model, and build a creator economy, and even make movie watchers into roles they play in the movie ... Patrick Lee, co-founder of Rotten Tomatoes, was interviewed by Joanne Z. Tan on the "Interviews of Notables and Influencers" podcast, video and blog series, where Patrick talked about these topics: The recent Theranos Elizabeth Holmes trial, "fake it till you make it", Silicon Valley culture, NFT, Web3, Metaverse, their roles in a creator economy, in a new learn to earn education model, Decentralization, blockchain, AI, AR, VR, The future of gaming, movies and entertainment industry intersecting with Technology,... AND, what does Patrick Lee's brand stand for?... Patrick Lee imagined the NFT, Web3 metaverse will revolutionize "learn to earn" education model, and the entertainment, movie making world. The "play to earn" gaming model can be evolved into "learn to earn" for students: "...they're actually earning a token or NFTs that can actually be converted into money. And ideally, you could get the rich people in the world to be paying the poor people to learn." A LOT of insights! Thank you Patrick Lee!

Question #1: Why don’t you start a charitable foundation with open source accounting yourself, if you rightfully don’t trust bureaucracies like the UN?
Question #2: If you don’t want a dog-eat-dog, “beanstalks-burn-beans” world (explained below), why don’t you create an alternative digital open forum for people to freely help and give to one another, and come together to save our Earth? Isn’t this more meaningful than sending humans to the barren and lifeless Mars? What makes you think that the Martian environment will change humankind for the better?
Question #3: DO BOTH - uplift science and humanity, the yin and yang of each other, can you and will you?

Introduction:
Kevin Surace is a Silicon Valley innovator, serial entrepreneur, CEO, TV personality and EDUTAINER (educator and entertainer combined). Kevin has been featured by Businessweek, Time, Fortune, Forbes, CNN, ABC, MSNBC, FOX News, and has keynoted hundreds of events, from INC5000 to TED to the US Congress. He was INC Magazines’ Entrepreneur of the Year in 2009, a CNBC top Innovator of the Decade, World Economic Forum Tech Pioneer, Chair of Silicon Valley Forum, featured for 5 years on TechTV’s Silicon Spin. While he has a technical background with 93 worldwide patents, Mr. Surace led pioneering work on the first cellular data smartphone (AirCommunicator), the first plastic multi chip semiconductor packages, the first human-like AI virtual assistant (Portico), soundproof drywall, high R-value windows, AI-driven building management technology, AI-driven quality assurance automation, and the window/energy retrofits of the Empire State Building and NY Stock Exchange.
Kevin is also an accomplished music director, conductor, Broadway show and musicals producer, and percussionist. He’s Actively developing high quality "digital theater" virtual musical entertainment using green screen studios and advanced digital designs.
Kevin is CTO of Appvance.ai which has developed groundbreaking AI based autonomous software testing in a SAAS platform. He is also involved with companies addressing: AI & Robotics, QA automation/security, IOT, subscription models, sustainability, and sleep tech.
As a branding expert, l can’t help branding Kevin as: “A Renaissance man, in a Renaissance Age.” 1) Tell me your personal journey, about why, what, how you get to be where you are, today? 2) Among all the things you have done, what are your most important and most proud of? 3) Failure is the mother to success. What are the most profound “failures” that you have learned from, that you’d like to share with the world? 4) You invest in startups, any unicorns? What made you spot them as the “unicorns” before they were successful? 5) AI - what do you think about the prospects of AI becoming masters of humanity? 6) This Pandemic is only the beginning, there will be more. What do you think the world should do, to be more prepared? What are your predictions about the future after this Pandemic? 7) Describe, in details, your vision of the world with AI, social media, digital currency, 2 years from now, 5 years from now, 10 years from now, 20 years from now 8) I am an opera fan. This season I was delighted to watch the New York Met Opera live performance in a Century 14 movie theater near my home, with surround sound effects, large screen, reclining chair (warmed up), AND social distancing too, I really don’t feel like taking the BART to San Francisco Opera House, which I did for 25 years! I am afraid the SF Opera Box Office will suffer a decline in ticket sales, so will many cities’ opera houses throughout the world, since the Met is streamed to around 27 countries, more or less, at many local cinemas. Question #1: Do you agree that technology helping with monopolies (in this case, the Met) at the loss of local cities’ opera houses, or musicals’ performances? And isn’t it consistent with the entire human society’s trend toward monopolies, such as Google, Amazon, Apple and Microsoft, as well as in the political climate of autocracy vs democracy? 9) Climate change: How to address it? To what extent are traditional ways of thinking, governing, investing, living… must change, and change fast? 10) The sorry state of US politics: Do you think the two-party system is collapsing into its own dead end? What do you think of the rank-choice voting that is used in New York's mayoral election and another state's governor's election? 11) What does “Kevin Surace Brand” stand for? What do you want the world to remember you, after you kick the bucket?

| Episode 39: Joanne Z. Tan‘s 2nd interview of Tim Draper on why Bitcoin will replace US Dollars in 30 years, what SEC and IRS should do with it__Interviews of Notables & Influencers | 01 Oct 2021 | 00:59:24 | |
Why Tim Draper thinks Bitcoin is immune to inflation, power outages, hacking, and will replace fiat in 20 years - 2nd interview.
If you would like to stay in the loop, subscribe to our Newsletter To read an edited transcript To watch it as a video The following are the summaries of questions Joanne Z. Tan asked Tim Draper during this one-hour interview on Sept. 23, 2021: Crypto and Bitcoin fluctuated wildly in the last 4 months after our first interview. ... Other than China’s cracking down on Bitcoin and crypto, do you see any SYSTEMIC flaws in the crypto’s trading mechanism that have caused the wild fluctuation? Examples: Yesterday’s 90% drop of Bitcoin on Pyth was caused by computer botching basic math, the day before, the “blackout” at Solana, and the use of robot traders in high frequency crypto trading… What are your thoughts about these systemic flaws, or phenomena, or “growing pain”? It seems that Bitcoin holders are primarily in two large camps: first, highly educated, intelligent and financially secure; second, herd mentality blind followers, some of whom are gamblers. Is that another contributing factor for its extreme volatility since there are far more blind followers than seasoned investors? If so, what can be done about it? Is the lack of circulation and liquidity another reason for its volatility? What caused the malfunction of El Salvador's launch of Bitcoin? Ray Dalio recently said that the value of Bitcoin is “imbued” rather than “intrinsic”. Gold’s value is “intrinsic” according to him; the “imbued” value of Bitcoin, he cited, was at least based on the impressive fact that it has never been hacked. He didn’t mention that Bitcoin has a limited edition capped at 21 million coins. What do you think of his characterization? Has the definition of “money” changed in any way with the birth and growth of Bitcoin? Does Bitcoin-ownership vs gold-ownership give Bitcoin owners more responsibility, participation, and other new elements of ownership? Ayn Rand brand of libertarian capitalism, in my opinion, was based on the dated view that the world’s resources are almost limitless, an idealized understanding of a limitless potential of capitalism. Now, living with global warming, and the realization that first, resources are limited, and second, the window of opportunities is rapidly closing; actions, NOW, by NATIONAL governments are truly needed (in addition to private actions), to reverse climate change. My question is: Could Bitcoin undermine national governments’ control of central banking and economic policies, particularly related to governmental spending on sustainable industries? Is there another way to link the usage of crypto directly with sustainability industries? In China a couple of months ago, a great flood happened in a large city, there was no power, no internet. People who were so used to digital payment found themselves needing paper cash for everything. What do you think of its implication to Bitcoin’s use and circulation when there is no power? Assuming that you do NOT prefer to live in a country without governments and borders, what is the “right place” for bitcoin to fit in? Co-exist with fiat? If the value of Bitcoin is priced and based on the value of fiat, what makes Bitcoin immune to inflation? You said in the last interview with me that China’s government-issued digital wallet is a threat to Bitcoin IF their digital wallet is accepted outside China, please first explain, and then suggest what can be done about it. Do you think technology has borders? Is crypto a threat to the US government's national security? Regulatory scrutiny is being ratcheted up by an SEC Commission chair who says he believes it’s better to be proactive on digital currencies than to react following a crisis. Michael Hsu, the acting chief of the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency, argued Tuesday that cryptocurrencies and decentralized finance may be evolving into threats to the financial system in much the same way certain derivatives brought near collapse in 2008. 3 questions: Does that mean that Bitcoin and other cryptos are more likely to be treated by the government as a security rather than currency? In the last interview, you said that Bitcoin is more like a currency, have you changed your mind? Do you reserve tax payment for all your Bitcoin capital gain, since 2014, if and when you sell some portion of it, or just use some of it for purchasing goods and services? Taxes and regulations ... do you think being taxed and regulated will make Bitcoin lose some of its “incorruptibility”, “transferability”, and “uninflatability”? What do you foresee as the worst possible scenario to Bitcoin, other than a solar flare that wipes out all digital records and civilization based on electric power on Earth? What do you foresee as the best possible outcome of Bitcoin? How many decades or years will it take us to get there? What do you think about the corporate monopolies such as Google, Facebook, Apple, Microsoft, Amazon...becoming more powerful than the government in certain aspects? I ask everyone in my interview this question: What does the “Tim Draper Brand” stand for?

To keep running twice as fast to get anywhere, as Lewis Carroll said, it must first know exactly where it wants to go, and how to fuel its run with exhaling the obsolete and inhaling fresh oxygen, constantly. Not only must a power brand always be relevant to its changing and evolving target audience, but it must also lead its target audience, inspire them, learn from them, and enrich their lives. In an ideal situation, the brand and its target audience feed off each other's ideas and energy, somewhat like a rockstar feeding off his/her fans' enthusiasm. A brand is like a house. Look deep into DNA, and align your actions with your purposes, the raison d’etre, - the most important reason for someone or something's existence, - staying true to your “brand DNA”. To build a brand is the same as growing a purposeful life. Step by step, line by line, brick by brick, just as a tiny spider spins a tiny bit of thread to build a beautiful web a thousand times more impactful than itself. Brands need to be readjusted, realigned, and reinvented. That’s the only way to be in sync with the ultimate macro AND the extreme micro of the universe, the cradle of life and the final purpose of life. We at 10 Plus Brand are your brand’s partner from birth, during growth, and in transformation. If you would like to stay in the loop, subscribe to our Newsletter

Julie Castro Abrams is the founder, CEO and chair of How Women Lead, a network of 14,000 women. They are top executives, leaders, current and aspiring board members and investors. Julie is also the GP of How Women Invest, an angel investing fund that has invested millions in women owned startups. Recently, Julie was featured on Forbes magazine for her accomplishments on leading How Women Invest. She's also on one of the task forces of California Governor Gavin Newsom, "the first partners" initiatives. The interviewer, Joanne Tan, is personally involved with How Women Lead for over two and a half years, both as a member of the Leadership Committee and through helping aspiring executives to get on corporate boards, with their board bios, LinkedIn profiles and resumes. Joanne describes Julie: "I have come to know Julie really well, and admire her passion, talent, brilliance, leadership, authenticity, and business savviness. All of these are inspiring to me and to lots of women." The tide raises ALL boats. Diversity is the tidal wave. Diversity increases the whole pie for everyone, and everyone stands to benefit. Like it or not, America will be the most diverse country in the world and nobody can turn the tide. For those who don't like to be politically correct all the time, - I get you; but, there is a right way and a wrong way of dealing with diversity. Either you ride the tidal wave, or better, lead the wave, or you are being dragged kicking and screaming and end up being a “loser”, and get drowned by the inevitable. Learn from the true leaders like Julia Abrams, it's not a waste of your time.
