Episode Overview

Welcome back to 10 Days in Dance! Adam K and Amy are back with all the electronic music news you need to know. From massive Ibiza residency announcements and new music releases to dance music in space, Detroit's techno museum battle, and Amy's mind-blowing orchestral EDM experience. Plus, we give a shout out to our friends at Bye Bye Plastic and their mission to eliminate single-use plastics from the music industry.

Shout Out: Bye Bye Plastic

Before diving into the stories, we want to highlight our friends at Bye Bye Plastic, co-founded by Blondish. This incredible organization is working to eliminate single-use plastics from the music industry and beyond. From those horrible squishy plastic cups at festivals to reducing waste that ends up in our oceans and landfills, Bye Bye Plastic is making a real difference.

They recently hosted a recycling party at ADE where you could bring your recycling in real time. Check out their Ego Rider campaign and use the hashtag #ByeByePlastic to join the movement. Links in the show notes!

MEDUZA will deliver their electrifying MEDUZA³ hybrid live concept, blending DJing with live piano, MIDI controls, and dynamic performance elements. James Hype returns with his upgraded SYNC concept, featuring cutting-edge technology and a custom lighting array that synchronizes with every move on the decks.

Bonus: MEDUZA and James Hype are also launching their Our House Festival on the banks of the River Thames in London this August. Stay tuned for the full announcement!

Story #2: Adam K & Marvo - "Everybody (Wants to Be a DJ)" ft. Kolsch

Adam has brand new music dropping! Adam K and Marvo's latest track "Everybody (Wants to Be a DJ)" releases May 29th on Smash The House Deep.

The track features the legendary vocal from Kolsch (under his old alias Heavy Rock/Artificial Funk/Rune), with the iconic line: "Everybody wants to be a DJ. My dog wants to be a DJ. My cat wants to be a DJ. God wants to be a DJ."

It's the perfect 2026 anthem because, let's be honest, everybody really does want to be a DJ these days. Pre-save links are available now, and Adam is encouraging user-generated content for a potential music video compilation. Get your pets DJing, film it, and tag them!

Story #3: Coachella 2026 Highlights

Yousuke Yukimatsu Turns Sahara Into Chaos

Japanese DJ Yousuke Yukimatsu delivered one of the most talked-about sets of Coachella, turning the Sahara Tent into absolute chaos. Jumping from K-pop to heavy metal to 80s electro to 2010s pop without missing a beat, his set was pure unpredictable energy.

His story is incredibly inspiring: After being diagnosed with a brain tumor in 2016, he left his construction job the same day to pursue music full-time. Since then, he's played Berghain, Ultra, and now Coachella.

Do LaB Safety Incident

During John Summit's Friday night set at the Do LaB, a heavy lighting fixture fell from the stage due to strong winds, injuring an attendee and forcing the stage to close for the evening. Anyma's late-night set was also cancelled due to the weather conditions.

Anyma's Redemption

After the Friday cancellation, Anyma returned to close out the Do LaB stage with Marlon Hoffstadt, transforming his setback into one of the weekend's most talked-about moments.

Other Highlights

Justin Bieber made his comeback with a creative and brave performance at Coachella. If you haven't seen it yet, go check it out!

Story #4: Tomorrowland Winter Flashback

Adam shares some behind-the-scenes stories from Tomorrowland Winter, including an hilarious incident where his safety announcements kept interrupting Alok's set on the Orbiz stage during a snowstorm.

Key Announcements:

  • Adam played the Orbiz stage (full set available on his Soundcloud and in the show notes)
  • Afrojack announced new music on major labels and a collaboration with David Guetta and Sia
  • Steve Aoki threw a pop-up party in a bakery with special guest Yuki from Snow Machine (Japan's first DJ at Tomorrowland Winter)
  • Over a meter of snow fell overnight, creating an arctic snap that closed some stages early

Amy's Announcement: Amy is 100% going to Tomorrowland Winter next year and has already started snowboarding lessons!

Story #5: Dance Music Goes to Space - "Sleepyhead" Wakes Up Artemis II Astronauts

NASA shared the official wake-up playlist used by the Artemis II crew during their historic nine-day lunar flyby mission. The first song? Young & Sick's dance remix of Passion Pit's "Sleepyhead" - the luminous 2008 indietronica anthem.

The wake-up playlist is a NASA tradition dating back to the Apollo program. Other tracks included Queen and David Bowie's "Under Pressure," Chappell Roan's "Pink Pony Club," and Glass Animals' "Tokyo Drifting."

Adam's Take: While the space exploration is impressive, he questions whether we should focus more on fixing Earth before building on the moon. His philosophy: "Keep off the grass, no buildings on the moon."

Adam's Space Playlist:

  • Robag Wruhme (the German producer he was trying to remember - perfect moon music)
  • Special Request (especially "Moon Landing" from the Shepperton album)
  • Goldie's "Timeless"
  • His unreleased track "Moonshot" (inspired by Goldie)

Story #6: LA CORE Festival - May 2-3

One of the most stacked lineups of the year is coming to LA State Historic Park on May 2-3.

Saturday Lineup: Dino Lenny, Dixon, Amelia, Fortet, Honey Dijon, Lake Hills, Mall Grab, Alexander, Malugi Sam, Simone, Tisha

Sunday Lineup: Art Bat, Ben Wall, Capoon, Eric Prydz, Hannah Laing, Kevin De Vries, Nees, Crystal Clear, Misha, Nina Kraviz, Oscar and the Wolf, Reza

Bonus: Eric Prydz has restarted his Epic Radio show on Apple Music and announced loads of new releases coming on all his aliases, plus a brand new record label. Touring is being reduced to focus on production.

One World Radio will be broadcasting the festival live for those who can't attend.

Story #7: Detroit Techno Museum Pushes Forward

The Museum of Detroit Electronic Music (MODEM) is still happening despite setbacks. Originally planned as part of the $50 million Packard Park development at the legendary abandoned factory where underground techno parties helped birth the genre, the project hit a snag when the Detroit mayor halted the overall development.

But founder Adriel Thornton isn't backing down: "The city hasn't canceled the museum. They can't. This is ours."

Conceived in 2020 and inspired by Exhibit 3000 (a collection of Detroit techno artifacts), the museum aims to preserve techno history and will also recognize hip-hop icons like J. Dilla and Eminem.

Next Steps:

  • Eyeing locations in Detroit's Midtown Cultural District
  • Launching a crowdfunding campaign soon
  • Visit modemdet.com for updates

Note: Property in Detroit is currently very affordable as the city undergoes massive regeneration. If you're in Detroit, let us know what the nightlife scene is like!

Story #8: IMS Ibiza & Opening Parties - April 22-24

The International Music Summit takes place April 22-24 at the Mondrian in Hï Ibiza with the theme "Reclaim the Dancefloor." It marks the official start of Ibiza's summer season.

Pacha Grand Opening Weekend (4 Days):

  • April 24: Marco Carola, Vintage Culture, Gordo b2b Frank Storm
  • April 25: Solomun and Blondish
  • Destino: Marco Carola, Mal P, Mason Collective

Hï Ibiza Opening - Saturday April 25: East End Dubs, Ewen McVicar, Indira Paganotto, Joseph Capriati, Patrick Mason, Rossi, Skepta, Martinez Brothers

Story #9: Electro Symphony - Amy's Review

Amy attended Electro Symphony and was absolutely blown away. This Ukrainian and French EDM orchestra features a full orchestra, conductor, pyro, fireworks, lasers, singers, dancers, and costumes for a completely immersive experience.

Highlights:

  • Swedish House Mafia's "Don't You Worry Child"
  • Tiësto's "Adagio for Strings"
  • Britney Spears' "Toxic"
  • Classic EDM anthems reimagined with...

This is the full set from TML Winter Orbyz Stage at Tomorrowland Winter 2026

070 - 10 Days In Dance! Amy tours Japan, Ibiza Preview and TML WINTER is ON20 Mar 202600:35:37
Episode Overview

Welcome back to 10 Days in Dance! After a brief hiatus, Adam K and Amy are reunited to catch up on all the incredible adventures, festival experiences, and electronic music news you need to know about. From Japan's Snow Machine Festival to the most stacked Ibiza season ever, this episode has it all.

Amy's Japan Adventure: Snow Machine Festival

Amy just returned from an unforgettable trip to Japan, where she experienced her first-ever winter festival at Snow Machine in Hakuba. After swearing she'd never attend a winter festival, she's now completely hooked and already planning her trip to Tomorrowland Winter next year.

Festival Highlights:

  • Saw Hannah Laing for the first time (finally!) with fireworks and night skiing in the background
  • Steve Aoki playing "Turbulence" in the Japanese mountains
  • Sub Focus performance (though Amy admits she watched from under a blanket after not dressing appropriately for the cold)
  • Three-story festival setup with gondola access to mountaintop stages
  • Mix of international and local acts with stage takeovers by Glitterbox, Rave Cave, and Womb

The Not-So-Highlight: Amy's ambitious attempt to snowboard down the mountain during her set resulted in getting caught in a snowstorm, losing her board, and having to be rescued by ski patrol. Lesson learned: don't go to a winter festival without proper snowboarding skills (and appropriate clothing).

Beyond the Festival:

  • Explored Tokyo's legendary Womb nightclub for a dubstep show
  • First time in a mosh pit (and survived thanks to being taller than most people in Japan)
  • Visited the Shiba Inu Cafe in Harajuku (naturally dressed as a Harajuku girl, Gwen Stefani style)
  • Ate incredible Michelin star Wagyu beef ramen and more Japanese cuisine than she can count

Pro Tips for Snow Machine:

  • Learn to ski or snowboard BEFORE you go
  • Dress in layers and invest in proper winter gear
  • The food is expensive by Japanese standards but incredible quality
  • Popular with Australian crowds who brought the signature "buzzing" hardstyle dance moves

The Best Ibiza Season Ever?

Adam makes a bold claim: 2026 might be the best Ibiza season in history based on lineups alone. Here's the breakdown:

Hï Ibiza:

  • John Summit on Mondays
  • Armin van Buuren celebrating 25 years of A State of Trance with five 5-hour sets
  • Anyma taking over Tuesdays with his new "Eden" concept
  • Jamie Jones on Wednesdays
  • Fisher on Thursdays
  • Getter on Fridays
  • Elrow on Saturdays
  • Carl Cox on Sundays (including a back-to-back with David Guetta on July 26th and Chris Stussy)

Ushuaïa:

  • Getter
  • Tomorrowland presents
  • Calvin Harris
  • Swedish House Mafia

Pacha:

  • Solomun day parties
  • Mal P on Wednesdays
  • Vintage Culture
  • Purple Disco Machine
  • Corola
  • Robin Schulz
  • Gordo doing Taraka
  • Sonny Fodera
  • Frankie Rizzotto
  • Blondish

Plus:

  • Black Coffee at Universe (four shows)
  • Medusa & James Hype launching "Our House" residency at Hï Ibiza every Wednesday (May 27 - September 30)
  • The season now runs from April 5th (Pacha opening) through the end of October

The Challenge: With so many incredible lineups across multiple venues every night of the week, the biggest problem is choosing where to go. It's the "too much on the menu" syndrome, but for clubbing.

London's Festival Boom

London is having a major moment with an unprecedented number of high-quality events:

Recent Highlights:

  • Fred Again at Alexandra Palace with special guests including Mike Skinner, Underworld, and Thomas Bangalter (playing "One More Time")
  • Solomun at Alexandra Palace
  • Sammy Virgo upcoming at Alexandra Palace

Venues & Events:

  • XOYO reopening
  • Ministry of Sound refurbished
  • Fabric celebrating longevity
  • Drum Sheds hosting Drumcode events
  • Finsbury Park events
  • New castle venue announced by Anyma for August
  • James Hype & Medusa launching their own festival on the Thames in London (August)
  • John Summit taking over a stately home

Adam notes this represents a "land grab" moment where established artists are going independent, following the Tiësto model of breaking away from promoter brands to do their own events.

Other Festival News

A State of Trance Highlights:

  • Armin presented by Ruben de Ronde in an emotional moment
  • Back-to-back-to-back with Maddix and Oliver Heldens (High/Low)
  • Ruben de Ronde's standout set

Hannah Laing: Taking a step back from her Ibiza residency this year to focus on her mental health and well-being, though she'll still be performing globally. A brave and positive decision that Adam applauds.

Upcoming Season:

  • La Core Festival (Los Angeles) with Maluma, Eric Prydz, Fortet, Hannah Laing, Artbat
  • La Core Melbourne later this year
  • Tomorrowland Belgium (both weekends)
  • Tomorrowland Thailand (December)
  • Tomorrowland Winter - Adam performing at Orbiz stage on Wednesday and opening the Zoo bar at 1am Thursday night/Friday morning
  • ADE celebrating a milestone anniversary with Jean-Michel Jarre doing soundtracks

Amy's Summer Plans:

  • Parookaville (Germany) - multi-day festival, same weekend as Tomorrowland Weekend 1, excited to finally see Cascada and Scooter
  • Electrisize (Germany) - hardstyle/hard dance multi-day festival
  • Possibly Ibiza

AdamK Headphone review -

Beyerdynamic DJ 300 Pro X Review

The Beyerdynamic DJ 300 Pro X immediately stands out for its comfort and lightweight design. As someone who strongly prefers an over-ear fit, this model hits the mark. The foam ear pads are an excellent size, offering good coverage without feeling bulky, and they sit comfortably for extended sessions.

One minor drawback is the construction of the foam pad side wall. There is slightly too much loose material, which tends to fold when removing the pads. From a usability and perception standpoint, this makes the fit feel a little saggy at times. Personally, I think this could be improved by fixing the material more securely to the foam pad itself, which would elevate the overall finish. That said, they do close off external sound extremely well when over the ear.

That said, the headband and framing are genuinely excellent. Comfort is high, the weight distribution is well judged, and the rail detailing feels precise and premium. It is a design that inspires confidence and feels built for professional use.

I have rotated between Sennheiser HD 25, AIAIAI TMA-2, and JBL Live 650 for studio DJing and radio studio work. After spending time with the DJ 300 Pro X, I can confidently say that these have taken prime position over all of them for DJ use. The clarity and definition in the mix are unmistakably pro-level, and I was genuinely surprised by the depth and separation achieved across the spectrum.

The low-end response is not as full as some competitors', but the mid-range is excellent and highly musical. The top end is bright and detailed without becoming fatiguing, which makes beatmatching and long sessions far more enjoyable.

Cable design is another area where Beyerdynamic has clearly paid attention. The coil spacing is perfectly judged, allowing freedom of movement without constantly tugging at the jack. The straight sections reduce excess weight and prevent the cable from bouncing around while performing. It is a small detail, but one that makes a real difference in practice.

Overall, the Beyerdynamic DJ 300 Pro X delivers outstanding comfort, build quality, and professional-grade sound. With a small refinement to the ear pad construction, it would be close to flawless. As it stands, it is an easy recommendation for DJs working in studio or broadcast environments and has quickly become my go-to pair.
