Financial Planning for Leaders: Strategies to Prepare for Life's Unpredictable Moments15 Feb 202600:33:03

In this episode of the WADI podcast, host Kimberly Benoit sits down with financial advisor Jenevieve Lenz for an empowering conversation about women, leadership, and financial literacy. They break down intimidating finance jargon, share real-life stories, and offer actionable tips for women professionals and small business owners. Jenevieve Lenz explains the vital difference between investment advisors and financial planners, the importance of working with a fiduciary, and how to proactively build a solid financial foundation before life throws you a curveball.

If you’re ready to feel more confident with your money, avoid common mistakes, and get practical strategies on budgeting, emergency funds, and navigating transitions like layoffs or starting your own business, this episode is for you. Kimberly Benoit and Jenevieve Lenz also discuss the unique obstacles women face in finance—and why it’s crucial to take charge of your financial story. ---

About Jenevieve:

Jeneviève Lenz is the proud owner and founder of Lenz4Women Consulting. She enjoys sharing a variety of financial education topics with professional women who are most often dealing with one or more major transitions in their life.

Jeneviève as a third generation entrepreneur,  passionate about providing financial insight and integrated support.  She provides first class education to help women avoid  many common financial pitfalls.

Her reasons for becoming a financial advisor, educator and financial planning professional are routed in her family’s history of entrepreneurs. Several things unraveled with her grandfather’s estate from a financial and estate planning perspective that could have been avoided.

She realized that many single women and savvy business owners face quite a few challenges as they near retirement and get older.  Many of these "financial hiccups" can be avoided with key education and careful and integrated planning.

Why How You Lead Matters More Than What You Decide31 May 202600:17:39
Every leader faces moments where they have to deliver hard news, make tough calls, or drive change their team didn't ask for. Most leaders focus all their energy on making the right decision. But here's what the best leaders understand — it's not the decision that defines your leadership. It's how you deliver it.

In this episode, we explore why the how of leadership matters more than the what, and how the small everyday moments — how you respond to a mistake, how you run a meeting, how you give credit — quietly shape your team's trust, culture, and performance over time.

Whether you're a seasoned executive or a first-time manager, this episode will challenge you to think differently about your leadership presence and give you practical ways to close the gap between the leader you intend to be and the one your team actually experiences.

In this episode you'll learn:
  • Why the right decision can still damage team trust
  • The four most common ways leaders get the how wrong
  • What great leadership communication actually looks like in practice
  • A simple challenge to apply this week with your own team

Through relatable stories and hard-earned leadership lessons, Kimberly explores why consistency is more than just sticking to the rules—it’s about building real trust, showing up for your team, and creating an environment where people feel valued and secure.

She breaks down the three critical types of consistency every leader needs: behavioral (walking your talk), emotional (being a steady presence), and follow-through consistency (keeping your promises). Kimberly doesn’t shy away from the tough stuff, sharing how overcommitment, perfectionism, poor time management, and burnout can undermine even the best intentions—and offers actionable advice for getting back on track when you slip up.

The episode wraps up the series on the three pillars of engagement, leaving you with a big question: what is the real, lived experience of being led by you? Engagement, after all, isn’t theoretical—it’s daily, practical, and one genuine interaction at a time.

Whether you’re leading a team or aspiring to, this episode is packed with real talk, honest stories, and practical tools to elevate your impact. Listen in to learn why authentic, consistent leadership is the true foundation of a truly engaged team.
