Ep. 23: Watchmen Final Stand
Saison 1 · Épisode 23
lundi 30 décembre 2019 • Durée 01:03:46
The voicemailers dominate this final mailbag edition of Shat on TV: Watchmen, with five callers sharing their opinions on everything from Dr. Manhattan to podcasts themselves. Plus, a King Bee critic calls in with an apology.
Newsstand email covers listeners' final thoughts on the season as a whole, key characters, and even an "umm ... actually" about autism.
Watchmen Episode 9 Summary:
“See How They Fly” Trieu is revealed to be Veidt's daughter, and in 2008, developed a machine to capture Doctor Manhattan's power which she wants to use for herself. Later, she helps Veidt to escape Europa, and wants him there along with Bien, a clone of her mother, when she activates her device in downtown Tulsa. The Kavalry, working with the Cyclops leadership capture Manhattan, and Joe Keene prepares to take his powers. Laurie discovers Looking Glass is alive, disguised as a Kavalry member. Just as the Kavalry activate their system, Trieu teleports the setup to downtown Tulsa, finding Joe has become ooze, and kills the Cyclops leadership. Before he is killed by Trieu, Manhattan uses the distraction to teleport Veidt, Laurie, and Looking Glass to Karnak, where Veidt reworks his squid-rain system to send frozen squid to pulverize the area around Triue's device, killing Trieu. Angela takes shelter in the theater where Will and her children are. Will explains Manhattan had worked with him to bring this end, a necessary conclusion. Laurie and Looking Glass bring Veidt to justice using the copy of the 1985 video. Angela offers Will a room at their home, and while cleaning up eggs from the night before, recalls Manhattan's statement about transferring his powers through an organic medium. Finding one unbroken egg, Angela eats it and attempts to walk on water as she saw Manhattan do the night before.

Ep.13: Watchmen - 106 - Newsstand
Saison 1 · Épisode 13
samedi 30 novembre 2019 • Durée 59:45
Thanksgiving weekend be damned; we just can't stop talking about "Watchmen!" True to the excess of holiday binging and Black Friday shopping, this supersized Newsstand edition is overflowing with listener mail and voicemail.
We'll explore whether Looking Glass is the worst cop ever, how Nostalgia works, Lady Trieu's secrets, Jehovah's Witnesses, The National Memorial for Peace and Justice, Adrian Veidt's escape attempts, and more.
Apologies for the occasional audio pop and/or angry outburst. It was a wild ride of a recording.
Watchmen Episode 6 Summary:
“This Extraordinary Being” Laurie tries to get Angela to agree to treatment before the Nostalgia kicks in, but is too late as the latter starts to experience Will’s memories as a new officer with the New York Police in 1938. After discovering a ploy called “Cyclops”, he is nearly lynched by his fellow white officers. While walking home while, he dons a mask and hood to fight off men attacking a young couple. He is called a hero the next day, and supported by his wife June, takes on the persona of “Hooded Justice”. Will is invited to the Minutemen by Captain Metropolis, but when Will finds that “Cyclops” is a plan by the KKK to hypnotize black people at movie theaters to incite riots among themselves across the country, they refuse to help. Will takes out the New York operation on his own, killing all involved, and becomes disillusioned with his role; leaving his family. In the present, Will uses a modified form of the hypnotic technology to make Judd hang himself. Angela wakes up at Lady Trieu’s quarters, who has been helping to get the Nostalgia out of her system.

Saison 1 · Épisode 10
mercredi 20 novembre 2019 • Durée 47:43
Episode 5, "Little Fear of Lightning" set our sights on "Watchmen" fans' favorite character: Looking Glass. It's a master class in illustrating an origin story while also answering loads of questions.
Our fifth "Watchmen" Deep Dive outlines two big reveals: who is behind the Seventh Kavalry and where is Adrian Veidt? This episode also explores:

- whether Looking Glass turned on Sister Night
- the sex scene between Hooded Justice and Captain Metropolis
- and the deep meaning behind the episode's title.
Watchmen Episode 5 Summary:
Wade suffers PTSD as a survivor of Veidt’s 1985 squid attack. Laurie bugs Wade’s desk and learns that Angela asked him about the pills. Wade’s ex-wife, Cynthia, tells him the pills are Nostalgia, which contains other people’s memories. The Kavalry lure Wade to a warehouse, where they are testing a teleportation portal. Joe explains both he and Judd are Kavalry members trying to keep them in check. Joe coerces Wade’s help to learn what Angela knows about Judd’s death after showing him a video of Veidt, made a day before the 1985 attack and addressed to future President Redford, explaining his long-term plan; shaking Wade to his core. At the station the next day, Wade gets Angela to state that her grandfather was behind Judd’s death. Laurie hears this via the audio bug and arrests Angela, but not before she ingests the pills. Wade returns home after work and Kavalry members arrive with guns. Veidt learns that his prison is on Europa, and arranges the frozen bodies of his servants to spell out “SAVE ME” so they will be visible to Juno. However, he is pulled back into the prison and arrested by the Game Warden.

Saison 1 · Épisode 6
mardi 5 novembre 2019 • Durée 54:35
"Watchmen" Episode 3, "She Was Killed By Space Junk," completed the world building portion of the HBO series and shifted into the business of pushing the plot forward with showrunner Damon Lindelof's trademark depictions of nihilism, loneliness, and brutality.
Our third "Watchmen" Deep Dive outlines the tragedy of the second Silk Spectre, Lori Blake, and surfaces the clues behind why Adrian Veidt is isolated from the rest of the world. This episode also explores:
- the difference between a dildo and a vibrator
- more insights from Peteypedia
- Lady Trieu and her intentions
- the link between the Crawfords, the Keenes, and the Seventh Kavalry
- why Devo was featured on the soundtrack
- the meaning behind Lori Blake's brick joke
- why a car fell from the sky
- and whether the attack at Judd Crawford's funeral was staged.
