119. We Are SO Back | Why I Took a Break, Life Updates, and What’s Next for the Podcast

I’m baaaack! Maybe you didn’t notice I was gone, but I’ve gotten so many kind messages from you guys asking if I’ll ever bring the podcast back, so here we are! In this episode, I’m giving you the lowdown on what the last two years of my life have looked like, why I felt like I needed to put the podcast down for a while, and why I’m picking it back up now. 

 

Some key takeaways from this episode include:

  • I’m in an exciting (albeit a bit scary) season of rediscovery and reinvention. I needed to take some time to wallow, sit with my feelings, and heal before I could get here. If you’re in a tough season, don’t rush the processing portion, or it’ll catch up with you unexpectedly.

  • When we’re in a season of transition, it’s normal to cling to what’s familiar and comfortable. I stayed in my marital home post-divorce, and it ended up feeling lonely. Moving out and into an apartment I could make my own has been incredibly healing.

  • Do something that makes you feel alive this week. Maybe it’s a hobby you haven’t done in a while, reconnecting with a friend who brings out the best in you, or booking a trip you’ve been putting off.

19. Imposter Syndrome

I have lived with anxiety for as long as I can remember.  Shallow breathing, tightness in the chest, sweaty pits... check.  Over the years I have used food, wine, shopping and Netflix to cope.  Guess what?  All that got me was weight gain, a hangover, debt and deferred dreams.  Maybe you feel anxious when you have a project deadline at work, when you have to have a difficult conversation, or you're worried about finances.  In this episode, I talk with counselor Juliet Kuehnle from Sun Counseling and Wellness about healthy ways to deal with anxiety when it strikes.

14. Getting Unstuck

I've been hearing from a lot people who tell me they're stuck.  Stuck in a job they can't stand, stuck in a mediocre relationship, stuck in a life that doesn't excite them.  I used to say those words quite often... I'm stuck.  I would also say... I just don't know what to do.  But that's not true.  We aren't really stuck.  More likely, we are scared to take action.  In this episode, I talk about what's really going on when you feel stuck in some area of your life and what you can do to move forward.

13. Marriage: Make it Last
