Let's get real, this whole raising tiny humans thing is wild. That's why I created a place where parents, caregivers, teachers, and experts come together to create the modern parenting village. We can support one another on this crazy journey so it doesn't have to be this hard.
Youâre listening to Voices of Your Village, and todayâs episode is about a shift that weâve been sitting with for a while.
Itâs a conversation about how things change, how we grow, and what it looks like to really listen to whatâs neededâand let that shape what comes next.
When we started this podcast in 2018, the world looked really different. There werenât as many voices, fewer spaces to learn, fewer places to turn. Over the past 8 years, weâve had the privilege of sharing this space with you, joining you on your car rides, in your kitchens, your classrooms, and through your hardest parenting moments.
And what weâve heard more and more recently is this:
I donât just need more information. I need support in the moment.
In this episode, weâre sharing how Seed & Sew has evolved over the years, what weâve learned along the way, and why weâre making a shift now. Not because this work is ending, but because we want to meet you where you actually are.
Weâre talking about what it looks like to move from content to connection. From general advice to individualized support. From listening⊠to being able to ask, âWhat do I do right now, with this kid, in this moment?â
So weâre pressing pause on the pod to allow a transition into something more responsive, more personalized, and more aligned with what youâve been asking for.
Alright folks, letâs dive in.

406- Post-Vacation Meltdowns and School Refusal with The OT Butterfly, Laura Petix (Rebroadcast)
You're listening to Voices of Your Village, and todayâs episode is a rebroad of one of our absolute essentials-- how to navigate that rocky transition back to school after vacation. And not just for our kids, but for ourselves, too.Iâm joined by my friend Laura Petix, also known as The OT Butterfly. Sheâs a pediatric occupational therapist, a neurodivergent mom raising a neurodivergent kid, and the author of A Kidâs Book About Neurodiversity. She also has a brand-new book coming out October 6th called The Sensory Code: Understanding Sensory Processing Differences to Support Your Childâs Unique Needs, which could not be more perfect for this conversation. This convo is a mix of validation, strategy, and "yep, me too" moments youâre going to want to come back to. We talk about how to actually support regulation in those first weeks back, whether your kid is a sensory seeker or sensory sensitive, and how to lower demands, build in support, and reset your own expectations. We also get into the emotional side of school refusal, those brutal morning meltdowns, and why some kids just need a longer runway to get going again.Plus, Laura shares her brilliant nervous system budget analogy, which I think you're going to love. This oneâs for those of us starting the school year already feeling tapped out, and trying to figure out how to make re-entry just a little softer.Alright folks, letâs dive in.
