Joys & Challenges of Vet Tech to Practice Manager25 Dec 202300:36:14

Send us Fan Mail

The most obvious path for career trajectory is into management. What I hope you learn from Vet Life Reimagined is that there are many ways to evolve your career in veterinary medicine, but is practice management the right step for YOU? Our guest, Cassie, is a licensed veterinary technician (LVT) who decided to take the step into being a veterinary practice manager at a busy mixed-animal practice in Washington State. Cass will discuss the challenges of moving from a vet tech peer to a veterinary leader.

It can be lonely as a manager, but Cass will show the ways she has found support and a good work-life balance that fits her values including family values as she is a mother of two. In that path, she found an opportunity that allows her to help veterinary medicine differently and work from home part-time through working for Vet Snap, a digitally controlled drug log software that is making life much easier for veterinary practices.

Cassie joined VetSnap in 2022 as their first customer success specialist. She brings 10 years of veterinary experience to the VetSnap team. Aside from her love of medicine, Cassie enjoys spending time with her family and friends, hiking, fishing, barrel racing, and doing anything outdoors.

We discuss
- tips on managing a veterinary hospital especially how to have hard conversations and train veterinary staff.
- How to empower veterinary technicians
- the unique story behind Muttville, a private non-profit
- End-of-life medicine and hospice for dogs

Some quotables:

Niche Podcasts in Vet Med at the Veterinary Innovation Summit 202323 Oct 202300:55:09

Send us Fan Mail

What is it like being a podcaster in a niche inside a niche?
Four different podcasters come together in this episode all with podcasts about the veterinary medical field have different styles and unique perspectives. The Veterinary Innovation Council helped us attend the Veterinary Innovation Summit organized by the North American Veterinary Community (NAVC), so we could learn and meet to talk about innovation in vet med and podcasting, which I like to think is a little innovative in the veterinary industry as well.

We talk about what we learned about the Veterinary Innovation Summit and why we are podcasters. We also talk about some podcasting strategies, so I hope this very special episode is useful to other podcasters who may not even be veterinary or animal-related.

This conversation still highlights a mission of the Vet Life Reimagined podcast and that’s about being curious about possibilities and finding things that allow you to thrive and enjoy what you do. One thing I love about podcasting is the many people I get to meet and the relationships I am building.

In this episode, you will hear:
🎙️ Ryan Leech host of The Bird Bath podcast,
🎙️ Dr. Matt Asciutto host of The Greatest Profession podcast,
🎙️ Stacy Pursell of The People of Animal Health podcast, and
🎙️ Me, Dr. Megan Sprinkle, your host of Vet Life Reimagined
