Josh Vaisman, MAPPCP (PgD) has a fascinating veterinary career. He started as a PetSmart associate. He became a veterinary assistant and then a veterinary practice owner, multiple times.  After some hard realizations, he got a Master's of applied positive psychology and coaching psychology. So, in 2018 he founded Flourish Veterinary Consulting which translates the science of human thriving to empower veterinary organizations in cultivating workplaces where professionals can thrive. He also recently worked with AAHA to publish the book Lead to Thrive: The Science of Crafting a Positive Veterinary Culture. So, now Josh is a well-known speaker, author, and veterinary culture consultant.

Instinct and Caleb have been in the news a lot recently because of Instinct’s recent acquisition of Vetmedux the creator of Plumb’s and Clinician’s Brief. 

 Dr. Caleb has spent his clinical time in specialty and emergency hospitals including a very large multi-doctor practice in Florida.

Vet Life Reimagined guest today agrees that improv skills can translate over to veterinary medicine. Dr. Nikko Grossapoulos started as a theatre major, but he always had a love for animals and worked in veterinary clinics as an assistant and CSR.  Going to vet school was delayed by a thriving business venture, but 10 years later, he went to the University of Minnesota College of Veterinary Medicine.  Dr. Nikko is now a Senior Professional Services Veterinarian for Zoetis, active in the Minnesota VMA, and is combining many of his skills into teaching at a unique summer camp called Frogwarts in Iowa.

- How improv skills can be valuable in veterinary medicine
- Veterinary careers in industry
- Opportunities for pre-veterinary students for financial support from state VMAs

About the Guest:
Marina, a seasoned RVT with over 10 years of diverse experience, embarked on her veterinary journey after an unconventional start. Following a Specialized Honors Bachelor of Science degree from York University, she found her passion, while teaching ESL in Seoul, stumbling upon the RVT Diploma Degree at the University of Guelph.

Currently, Marina wears multiple hats, serving as the Vice President of the British Columbia Veterinary Technologist Association and instructing the Vet Assistant Program at Vancouver Island University. Her expertise spans large animal sciences, lab animal sciences, companion animal ophthalmology, ER, UC, and referral services. With a Veterinary Acupuncture Certification from the Xie Institute, she played a pivotal role in developing the acupuncture department at a small animal GP.

Marina's extensive background includes roles as a swine farrowing tech, Lead Tech, Production Manager, and contributing to a mixed animal practice handling companion animals, exotics, and avian species. Committed to giving back, she volunteers with a local charity providing veterinary care to low-income population of the city in which she resides. Recently, Marina launched her own locum RVT business, embracing a fulfilling career as a traveling veterinary technologist.
