23 | Guest: Caffeine Use in Endurance Running & Keren Blount
Saison 1 · Épisode 23
mardi 1 novembre 2022 • Durée 01:01:00
Who likes COFFEE?? Do you use caffeine to boost your energy? Did you know that caffeine can boost your performance? What form of caffeine you determines how much effect it will have. In this episode we ‘nerd out’ on the perks of coffee and caffeine intake with guest Keren Blount, coffee roaster extraordinaire and owner of Runner Coffee Co. Obviously she likes running too (hence the company name)! She’ll teach us how to brew a consistent cup at home and it all begins with the type and grind of beans.
Order a bag of ‘More Ultra Less Lady’ blend coffee and 30% will be contributed back to Ultra Ladies™ to help us continue supporting and educating more women into the sport of Ultrarunning: Runner Coffee Co.

22 | Guest: Davy Crockett- Ultra Running Women Breaking the Gender Barrier
Saison 1 · Épisode 22
mardi 6 septembre 2022 • Durée 01:05:06
In this episode, our favorite Ultrarunning Historian Davy Crockett tells about “Historic Women Breaking The Gender Barrier.” Women are still in the minority in the sport, but that is slowly changing. While we are pushing forward, it’s good to look behind once in a while and honor those from history that helped get us here. Davy is the creator of the Ultrarunning History Podcast and is the director of the American Ultrarunning Hall of Fame. He is also an accomplished ultrarunner, having run about 150 races, with 108 of those being 100-mile finishes as of 2022. You can discover more about Davy and ultrarunning history at https://ultrarunninghistory.com/.

13 | Coaching Corner: Ultrarunning is Mental
Saison 1 · Épisode 13
mardi 19 avril 2022 • Durée 56:44
Today’s podcast is “Ultra Running is Mental”. We hear people saying that “ultra runners are crazy” but in reality, one does need to be a bit “mental” to run an ultra marathon. Today Ultra Mama Nancy and Coach Sarah discuss how to train beyond the physical. It’s a given that ultra marathon running requires a good amount of “time on your feet” training but physical strength is only one component of ultra running. The longer you are on your feet in a 50-mile, 100-mile or longer ultra marathon, continuing to move forward can become more mental than physical. It’s amazing how the mentally strong runner can push through the “wall” long after the legs seem to have given up. Today we highlight special tools to train your brain to pull you out of the “pain cave” of ultra marathon running.

12 | Trailgate Chat: Feel the Fear
Saison 1 · Épisode 12
mardi 12 avril 2022 • Durée 57:37
The title of this week’s podcast is “The Voice of Fear is Healthy to Hear”. Join Ultra Mama Nancy and Coach Sarah as we discuss the subject of fear… how it can cripple us or propel us forward in life and in ultra running. We will discuss how fear is a protective mechanism that keeps us safe but when fear becomes crippling, it can prevent us from accomplishing great things. In this Pod, we will help you understand how fear holds you back in ultra running and we will give you some great coping skills to help you move forward in the face of fear and turn “I CAN’T” into
“I CAN”! We will reference two great books in this Pod, “Feel The Fear and Do It Anyway” by Susan Jeffers and “Thinking Body, Dancing Mind” by Chungliang Al Huang.

11 | Guest: Failing the Way to Success w/Rose O'Neill
Saison 1 · Épisode 11
mardi 5 avril 2022 • Durée 01:06:34
Our guest today is ultra runner and domestic abuse survivor Rose O’Niell who was fortunate to have only lost her lower leg and not her life. After years of sustaining repeated physical, mental and sexual assault from her ex-husband, running gave her the confidence and strength to leave. After living a life in fear of the physical and emotional abuse and being very overweight from eating her feelings, deep down she simply knew she deserved more for herself and her children. In her own words “If I can do one thing to reach out and potentially inspire another to love themselves, become active despite personal difficulties, obstacles or physical injuries, or even leave a risky personal situation, I am willing to bare my soul to do so.” From ending the abuse cycle, then later being stalked and attacked, and then enduring years of enormous amounts of physical pain following her accident, Rose is a pillar example of positivity and overcoming adversity for us all “Failing the Way to Success.” If you’d like to reach out to Rose or follow her journey, she welcome’s messages through her Instagram account @runroserun11
If you’re a domestic abuse victim please don’t hesitate to seek out someone safe that can help you. There are many people willing to help you - people you haven’t even met. Here are some additional resources for domestic abuse victims, their friends and families:
