If you’re thinking about putting your prices up in January, now is the time to decide — not the week before Christmas when you’re exhausted and rushing.
In this episode, Katie breaks down how to make a price increase decision based on your numbers (not emotion), what to review before you change anything, and how to communicate it clearly and confidently to patients and your team.
Katie also shares a real behind-the-scenes moment from her clinic that highlights a key leadership distinction: being informed isn’t the same as being needed — and why building a business that runs without you is part of the bigger picture.

MBST is non-invasive cell regeneration technology, trusted since 1998, backed by peer-reviewed research. Deliver lasting results and give your clinic the edge.
In this episode, Katie explains why a quiet January is rarely created in January. If you are looking at gaps in the diary and panicking, you are already too late, because the results you are seeing today were usually created by decisions made 8 to 12 weeks ago.
Katie introduces a new weekly segment, The Clinic Pulse, sparked by the latest Lloyds Bank Business Barometer showing a drop in UK business confidence. Her point is that uncertainty often makes owners freeze, but “let’s see what happens” is not a strategy. You cannot control the economy, but you can control your numbers, your capacity, your marketing, your hiring, and whether you wait until the diary is empty before you act.
The deep dive is a practical framework for stopping predictable problems from feeling like surprises. Katie breaks down how to plan across the next 12 months by looking at five layers: revenue, capacity, marketing, people, and you as the CEO. She shares how to use past data to spot patterns, reverse engineer targets, plan marketing ahead of demand, recruit before you are desperate, and put your life into the plan so the business supports the life you actually want.
To close, Katie introduces a new “Before I Go” moment, sharing something personal and unrelated to clinics. This week she is planning her mum and dad’s joint 70th birthday and navigating the fine line between making it special and not making “a fuss”, plus a family trip to Norfolk that, of course, already has a spreadsheet.

In this episode, Katie shares how one email generated over £10,000 in clinic revenue, and why the email itself was not the reason it worked. The real shift happened before she hit send: she created the right offer for the right people, and she focused on the audience already in her world instead of chasing strangers through more ads, more followers, and more “new leads”.
Katie takes you back to the 3:00am moment that sparked the idea. Her clinic was about to lose a major service line, wiping out £130K+ of revenue over the next 12 months, while she was also bringing in a new clinical lead with no client base. She needed a way to protect cash, fill diaries, and create momentum fast, without relying on complicated funnels or months of marketing.
That is where the Movement MOT was born. A preventative, premium style appointment designed to sit in the gap between “I’m injured and need physio” and “I’m fine”. Katie explains how it gave existing patients a new reason to come back, how she positioned it, and she reads the exact email she sent to her active database. You will also hear the numbers behind the campaign, including open rates, bookings, and the conversion rate into further treatment, which is where the real commercial impact came from.
Katie’s bigger point is simple: most established clinics are already sitting on valuable assets that are underused. Your database, your reputation, your existing patients, your team, your space, and your expertise. Instead of asking only “How do I get more leads?”, she challenges you to ask “How do I create more value for the people who already know and trust us?” and to build a patient journey that does not end at discharge, but continues through performance, prevention, and long term health.
In this episode, Katie shares a simple but powerful shift she’s made recently to protect her focus and get her clarity back. After deleting Instagram (and LinkedIn) from her phone, she noticed how much mental space opened up. Less comparison, less noise, fewer open loops, and more ability to actually think. Not “busy thinking” about the 400 things on the to do list, but proper CEO thinking about what’s working, what’s not, what’s become unnecessarily complicated, and what decisions she’s been avoiding.
Katie explains why most established clinic owners are not short of information. You’ve listened to the podcasts, bought the books, joined the groups, done the courses, and your team is sending you ideas too. The problem is that more information does not automatically create clarity. At a certain point it creates noise, and that noise chips away at your executive function and decision making. She calls this cognitive debt, the build up of mental tabs that stay open and quietly drain your attention.
She also unpacks how comparison changes as your clinic grows. The finish line keeps moving, and social media gives you access to thousands of other people’s “success” every single day. That can lead you to make decisions for their business, not yours, without knowing their profit, cash position, workload, or whether they even like the life they’ve built. Katie’s reminder is simple: your attention is an asset, and in a bigger business it is one of the most valuable resources you have. Every time you give it to noise, you are choosing not to give it to the thing that actually needs you.
To make this practical, Katie sets a challenge for the next seven days. Notice every time you instinctively reach to fill a gap and leave the gap. No Instagram, no emails, no podcasts, no WhatsApp. Just space to think and see what comes up. She also shares what she’s put in place for 2027: a protected CEO week every month, with no meetings and no delivery, so she has consistent time to think, simplify, and make better decisions for the business.

S4 EP17 Where’s the Cash? The Growth Trap Clinic Owners Miss
In this episode, Katie shares what’s been going on behind the scenes over the last few months and the big leadership lessons that have come with running two businesses while raising a one-year-old. She unpacks why growth isn’t always about adding more space, more staff, more services, or more complexity and why that “more, more, more” approach can quietly drain your cash and your capacity.
Katie breaks down the difference between growth and expansion, and why so many clinic owners increase the “size of the shoe” (assets and overheads) before they’ve fully maximised the “size of the foot” (utilisation, conversion, retention, diary structure, and revenue per square foot). She shares how she’s been challenging business decisions through the lens of simplification, including the reality that more rooms don’t automatically mean more profit, and a busy team doesn’t necessarily mean a high-performing business.
She also explains why revenue stops being the score as you scale, and why the real framework to understand is assets → revenue → profit → cash. Because you can have a high-revenue clinic that’s permanently skint, and a smaller clinic that produces strong cash, less stress, and a better life. The key is learning which numbers actually show whether the machine is working, rather than relying on feelings like “we’re busy” or “the diary feels full.”
Finally, Katie opens up a new opportunity for clinic owners who want clarity on what to do next. She’s opened two slots per week between now and Christmas where she’ll personally review your clinic and give you your next three moves, alongside what to stop doing so you can grow without more complexity. In this episode, Katie sits down with holistic mindset coach Philippa to unpack why self-doubt shows up most when you’re about to grow and why it’s not a sign you’re doing it wrong. They explore how doubt often demands certainty before action, and why that need for “knowing how it will work out” keeps so many clinic owners stuck right at the point they’re ready to level up.
Katie and Philippa explain that doubt isn’t something to eradicate. Instead, it’s often a beacon that you’re changing something meaningful. They talk about how the primitive brain reads change as threat, which is why doubt can feel like a full body experience and why comparison, scrolling, and “collecting evidence” that you’re not good enough can kick in fast. The key shift is learning to notice doubt without giving it authority, treating it as a pause rather than a full stop.
They also break down what self-doubt can look like in real life: constant second-guessing, “what if” thinking, staying busy to avoid the real decision, blaming external factors, and getting trapped in patterns like “not enough time” or “not enough money.” Philippa shares practical ways to move through it, including lowering your stress response first, challenging the thought with “is that true?”, and breaking big decisions into tiny next steps so you can keep moving even when certainty isn’t available.
Finally, Katie encourages listeners who feel stuck in that messy middle between where they are and where they want to be to take action and get support, rather than waiting for doubt to disappear. Because if you require certainty before you move, you’ll be waiting forever.
In this episode, Katie digs into the second foundation of the Flywheel Method: the who. She explains why, at the point someone sees your marketing, they don’t yet see you as the expert, they don’t trust you, and they don’t believe you… so if you lead with what you do (physio, Pilates, massage), you’ll blend in with everyone else.
Katie introduces the idea of perception vs reality: what your ideal client thinksthey need to solve their problem versus what you, as the expert, know they actually need. She shares why the “magic” happens in the overlap, where you speak to the conversation in your client’s head while still guiding them towards the right solution and outcome. Using examples like knee pain and pelvic floor dysfunction, she shows how clients aren’t buying sessions or classes, they’re buying their way out of a problem.
She also breaks down how to become the “untouchable expert” by choosing who you want to work with, creating a clear method or process that makes you the supply to the demand, and building a market of one. Finally, Katie challenges pay-as-you-go pricing models, explaining how programmes and better conditions for delivery create better client outcomes, reduce churn, and allow you to charge based on the value and transformation you deliver.
In this episode, Katie is joined by Richard Evans, Clinical Lead at MBST Health UK, to explore what makes clinicians stand out and why being open minded can be a real competitive advantage in modern clinic care. Richard shares how he first came across MBST early in his physio career, why MBST works best as part of a wider treatment programme (not a replacement for good clinical reasoning), and what he sees across a growing UK network of clinics using the technology.
They unpack why some clinicians dismiss new approaches too quickly, especially when something sits outside the “expected” pathway for stubborn or degenerative conditions. Using osteoarthritis as a clear example, Richard explains how traditional progression often feels like it only ends in injections and surgery, and why MBST can raise the ceiling on outcomes for the right patients when it is integrated properly. Katie and Richard also discuss how clinics can position MBST effectively, what needs to be in place before bringing it into a practice, and why the best results come from individualised care rather than cookie cutter protocols.

S9 EP08 Your Software Is Costing You Time and Money (Switch Without the Chaos)
In this episode, Katie is joined by Tom from the Jane UK team to talk about one of the biggest operational decisions clinic owners face: switching software. They unpack why changing systems feels so overwhelming, even when the new option is clearly better on paper, and why the real issue is not the software itself, it is the lack of time, headspace, and project planning most busy clinics have available.
Katie and Tom explain that switching software needs to be treated like a proper business project, not a quick decision made on a whim. They discuss why many clinics only move part of their workflow across (like scheduling) and keep other parts elsewhere (like notes), and how that creates friction, workarounds, and admin overload. Tom shares a simple question to help you assess whether your current system is still fit for purpose: are you working with your software, or are you constantly working around it?
They also dive into where software can create the biggest return on investment for clinic owners, especially when admin time and burnout are rising across teams. Tom introduces Jane’s AI Scribe feature for note-taking, how it works inside the charting area, and the safeguards that keep practitioners in control of what gets saved to the record. They cover the importance of thinking ahead to where your clinic is going in 6 to 12 months, and choosing systems that can support growth and complexity, rather than just patching today’s problems.
Main Topics Covered:
Why switching clinic software feels so hard, even when it is the right move.
Why software is no longer a “nice to have” and has become a core part of clinic operations.
Why changing systems should be treated as a project, not a whim.
The hidden cost of only moving part of your workflow (online schedule but paper notes).
How to give new software a fair test by moving more of your workflow into one place.
A simple audit question: are you working with your software, or working around it?
Why workarounds increase as your clinic grows rooms, services, team size, and complexity.
S1 EP20 Bigger Is Not Better: How to Build Profit Into Every Transaction in Your Clinic
In this episode, Katie challenges clinic owners to stop chasing “bigger” and start building a business that actually serves them. She explains why profit isn’t something that happens at the end of the year, it’s a habit that needs to be built into every transaction, every service, and every decision you make.
Katie breaks down the common trap of growth-first thinking: when bookings increase, expenses often rise to match, and you get locked into a more complex business without seeing any real improvement in take-home pay. She also explores why cashflow can feel stressful in both drought periods and busy periods, and how “bank balance accounting” leads to reactive decisions like taking on the wrong clients, throwing out last-minute promotions, or pulling tasks back onto your own plate.
You’ll hear practical examples of how to identify what truly makes you profit (and what quietly drains your time and money), including a real story of room rental that created a net loss once time and overheads were accounted for. Katie also shares a simple “smaller plates” approach to money management by separating accounts for tax, profit, and operating expenses, so you can allocate profit intentionally and make decisions from clarity, not panic.
Main Topics Covered:
Why “bigger is not better” and how to build a business that serves your life, not the other way round.
Why profit can’t be treated as an afterthought or a year-end event.
The danger of focusing on growth first and assuming profit will take care of itself.
Why cashflow problems can happen when bookings drop and when bookings increase.
How rising revenue often triggers rising expenses, locking you into a new cost level.
Why more staff, more space, and more sites don’t automatically mean more profit.
How to make profit part of every transaction and stop doing work that doesn’t pay.
Profit as a habit: focusing on maximising profit first to create smarter growth.
A real example of room rental that looked profitable but was actually a net loss once time and overheads were included.
