You Don't Have Energy If You Don't Breathe
Saison 14 · Épisode 13
dimanche 25 février 2024 • Durée 09:13
Problems with oxygenation can affect your sleep quality and quantity, leaving you feeling tired, or like you slept but woke up as tired as you were the night before, or just plain exhausted.Iron deficiency and carbon monoxide poisoning are both oxygen problems, not that we think of them that way, but many oxygen problems are more subtle. The classic oxygen problem overnight is sleep apnea, which causes you to wake up through the night becuase you stop breathing momentarily.Mouth breathing at night also impairs oxygen and leads to fatigue, low energy, and a poor night's sleep. My favorite solution to this problem is mouth taping.00:00 - Intro00:40 - Iron deficiency and carbon monoxide poisoning01:55 - Sleep Apnea02:21- Types of Sleep Apnea03:08 - Sleep apnea treatment03:36 - Sinuses and fatigue04:07 - Mouth breathing and fatigue05:15 - Why mouth breathing causes fatigue05:45 - Three differences between breathing through your nose and mouth07:05 - Fix mouth breathing with mouth tapingThanks so much for for watching or listening. Saison 1 · Épisode 53
dimanche 11 juillet 2021 • Durée 09:07
When you're working with MTHFR and following a good plan, you start to feel better from day one. But that doesn't mean that day 38 isn't kind of icky. There are bad days and that's part of the journey, but why? What is really happening when these bad days jump out at you? We'll talk about:
- Your bucket
- Your backlog
- Working with both of those
- Some tools you can use to fix bad days.
- Why symptom tracking makes all the difference.
If you want a free symptom tracker, sign up for my newsletter here for a free download, or join the MTHFR community Genetic Rockstars and find your free symptom tracker in the MTHFR Library - a whole bunch of free resources just for the community.
How Do You Know When Your Methylation Is Balanced With MTHFR?
Saison 1 · Épisode 52
dimanche 4 juillet 2021 • Durée 09:58
This is a big journey - how do you know when you're there? In good news, there are two main ways. This week, we'll talk about:
- Signs and behaviors that indicate your methylation is balanced
- What to do if you need a more concrete answer
- Three lab values that matter
- A few lab values that don't matter so much (in my opinion).
The most important thing is to let the journey happen. You can't really rush this one! I'd love to see you in the free MTHFR community Genetic Rockstars, or even, if you want a little bit more support, in MTHFR Academy - a dedicated MTHFR coaching community.

MTHFR and Neurotransmitters - Amy's Neurotransmitter Theory
Saison 1 · Épisode 49
dimanche 13 juin 2021 • Durée 09:25
Research has mostly shown that mental health issues often correlate with imbalance in neurotransmitters and so that idea has been locked in socially. We have painted ourselves into a corner in which ALL mental health issues must be neurotransmitters. This week, we'll talk about:
- Four reasons why it might not always be about neurotransmitters.
- Why the word "depression" might mean something different to everybody.
- How the mechanistic model fails in neurotransmitter balance.
- Amy's theory on neurotransmitters.
This week you can see the complete show notes here, and you can check out our amazing MTHFR community, Genetic Rockstars, here.
MTHFR and Norepinephrine
Saison 1 · Épisode 48

One more episode in our mini-series on neurotransmitters, MTHFR also affects your levels of norepinephrine and its metabolite, epinephrine. We'll discuss:
- The only two neurotransmitters that are also hormones and what that means.
- Why too high norepinephrine looks like you've taken too much cocaine.
- The sloth of too low norepinephrine.
- A few simple things you can do to boost or quench your norepinephrine and epinephrine.
If you'd like to see the full show notes you can find those here. Also, I'd love it if you'd join me in the MTHFR community, Genetic Rockstars.

- The unlikely first symptoms you might see of low dopamine levels
- Why banana smoothies might help with dopamine related weight gain (like after you quit smoking)
- The issue with dopamine receptors
- And how to boost your levels without drugs.
