| Episode 108: S5E21 “Two Minutes To Midnight” | 09 Jun 2026 | 01:35:58 | |
In this episode Joy and Laura break down season 5 episode 21 of Supernatural “Two Minutes To Midnight”. Sam and Dean defeat the third horseman pestilence to gain his ring, and Bobby sells his soul to Crowley so he will help them find the final horseman Death. Dean finds Death in Chicago and he offers his ring to Dean on the promise that Dean will make sure Lucifer is trapped at whatever cost, even if it means losing his brother. We discuss Death’s introduction scene and if it was better than Cas’ introduction, Dean’s reaction to Death being one of genuine fear, and Laura is confused about Cas’ loss of angel powers. We also discuss whether Pestilence got less screen time than deserved, in comparison to all the other horsemen; Bobby being able to walk again; and Joy has to explain what Sam’s plan actually is to Laura. Joy’s Easter eggs are about the location (Davenport, Iowa) and how it being linked to Pestilence in this episode makes sense, other location links to the end of the world, and the legend of Julia Brown. Stay safe out there, have each other’s backs, and always keep fighting! Sam and Dean, on the hunt for the horseman Pestilence, find themselves in a town where a flu epidemic has broken out. Crowley turns up to help and they kidnap a demon named Brady who works for a pharmaceutical company and may know where Pestilence is. We discuss how much we love Crowley, how Brady is giving Patrick Bateman vibes, and the first time Sam gets called ‘Moose’. We also discuss Sam’s plan to let Lucifer possess him, get annoyed on behalf of Sam for Bobby not believing in him, and talk about Dean’s hellhound PTSD. Joy’s Easter eggs are about pestilence, swine flu, and American pharmaceutical companies. Stay safe out there, have each other’s backs, and always keep fighting! | Episode 98: S5E12 “Swap Meat” | 24 Mar 2026 | 01:44:09
In this episode Joy and Laura break down season 5 episode 12 of Supernatural “Swap Meat”. While Sam and Dean are in a town investigating poltergeist activity at the house of a former babysitter, Sam ends up in a body swap situation with a local teenager Gary. We discuss the reasons why Laura doesn’t like this episode and Joy does like it, how Jared steals the show with his acting, and how good Sarah Drew is as Nora/the demon. We also discuss how long it takes Dean to work out what is going on, Gary and Trevor and their entitlement, and how Gary is how Sam should really be in real life. Joy’s Easter eggs are about body swapping magic in folklore, and hauntings and folklore from the location Housatonic, Massachusetts. Stay safe out there, have each other’s backs, and always keep fighting! | Episode 18: S1E18 “Something Wicked” | 06 Aug 2024 | 01:48:57
This week Joy and Laura discuss season 1 episode 18 “Something Wicked”. Sam and Dean investigate a town where all the children are becoming sick. Is it pneumonia, or is the doctor a soul sucking witch? Joy’s Easter egg this week is about the real Black River Falls, and all the spooky things that have happened there, including an epidemic where lots of children were victims, and therefore really parallels this episode. We discuss the similarities between Dean and Michael in this episode, how lonely Dean must have been his whole adult life, and Sam and Dean’s stolen childhood innocence. We also consider how JDM was de-aged for the flashback scenes, was it digital, or did he just shave? Stay safe out there, have each other’s backs, and always keep fighting! | Episode 17: S1E17 “Hell House” | 30 Jul 2024 | 01:41:26
This week Joy and Laura discuss season 1 episode 17 “Hell House”. Sam and Dean have a prank war while investigating a seemingly haunted house, and they meet paranormal investigators Ed and Harry for the first time. We discuss tulpas and how the show has kind of created its own in Richardson, TX because of this episode. Laura tells us about her tv show pet peeve of drivers not watching the road, and Joy explains some of the real on set pranks that have happened during the show’s tenure. Joy’s Easter egg links this episode to My Little Pony of all things, and did anyone know what persqueeter meant before this episode?? This week Joy and Laura discuss season 1 episode 16 “Shadow”. Sam and Dean are investigating in Chicago where demonic shadow creatures are killing people. Meg is back and she’s evil!! We also see John Winchester again, albeit very briefly. We discuss the SFX used for the shadow demons, how Meg might be linked to the Salem Witch Trials, and Laura is so annoyed with Dean in this episode for not using his upstairs brain! We also talk about Sam and Dean’s reactions to seeing their dad again, we gush once more over Jeffery Dean Morgan’s acting skills and hotness, and we make more die hard references in this episode than we were expecting. | Episode 15: S1E15 “The Benders” | 16 Jul 2024 | 01:46:07
This week Joy and Laura are talking about season 1 episode 15 “The Benders”, and it’s a scary one!! Sam is abducted by the Bender family and Dean teams up with a sheriff’s deputy to find him. We discuss cat jump scares, why Sam can’t just use his powers to free himself, and Joy writes us a ‘fun fact’ jingle, as well as a new podcast motto. Did anyone else notice that the cages completely changed half way through? Please write in and let Joy know she isn’t going crazy. Joy's Easter egg this week is a true crime one, about the real Benders family. Yes, this episode was based on a real story, and it’s terrifying! This week Joy and Laura discuss season 1 episode 14 “Nightmare”. Sam's visions are getting stronger and leads them to investigate a series of deaths in the Miller family. We talk about the evolution from “Dean girl” to “Sam girl” and why that might be the case. Hint, it’s therapy! Dean’s duck face makes another appearance, as does Aunt Zelda from Sabrina The Teenage Witch! We discuss whether the real villain in this episode is Max or his step mother, the parallels between Max and Sam, and how Dean reacts to this. Joy is not loving Dean at all this episode because he’s being an asshole (#TeamSam), although she did like those priest costumes! | Episode 13: S1E13 “Route 666” | 02 Jul 2024 | 01:38:55
This week Joy and Laura examine Dean and Cassie’s relationship, and Sam's hilarious reaction to seeing his brother in love. Joy’s Easter eggs this episode include a haunted dorm, electoral fraud in Athens, Ohio, and the real life story that this episode is based on that ignited the civil rights movement. We also discuss grizzly death scenes that we are surprised made it onto network TV, and the beautiful yet tense action scene where Dean faces the truck and we aren’t 100% sure if he is going to make it, and nor is Sam! Joy thinks this episode is sexy in social justice and sexy with men in ties. Stay safe out there, have each other’s backs, and always keep fighting! | Episode 12: S1E12 “Faith” | 25 Jun 2024 | 01:41:19
This week’s episode is apparently really popular within the fandom, but we weren’t feeling it. We thought it was really depressing, but we did record on a Monday so that may have had something to do with it. We discuss the stupidity of the opening scene and have differing opinions about Dean’s reaction to his prognosis from the doctor. Laura zones out when the conversation focuses on the religious aspects of this episode…twice! We think the use of tarot in this episode is a very strange work of fiction, and Sue-Ann…what an evil bitch! Stay safe out there, have each other’s backs, and always keep fighting! This week Joy and Laura discuss season 1 episode 11 “Scarecrow”. In this episode Sam and Dean split up and we are not happy about it. Sam tries to follow their Dad to California, and Dean investigates the cases of couples who have gone missing as they drive through a small town. We talk about how much we are loving this series so far, Joy tells us about the origins of scarecrows, and the Vanir gods from Norse mythology, and Laura totally didn’t get that Meg was a freaking demon! | Episode 10: S1E10 “Asylum” | 11 Jun 2024 | 01:48:18
This week Joy and Laura examine season 1 episode 10 “Asylum”. This was a scary one! John sends the boys to a haunted asylum where they encounter the spirits of many patients and the creepy doctor, who it turns out is the villain of the episode, and Sam gets possessed and almost kills Dean! We consider whether Jensen did his own stunts, Joy is surprisingly on Team Sam this week, and we get annoyed at how many times everyone splits up…have they never seen a horror show before?? Side note: Did anyone hear where the action takes place in this episode as we aren’t sure, is it the south wing perhaps? Stay safe out there, have each other’s backs, and always keep fighting! This week Joy and Laura are discussing season 1 episode 9 “Home”. This was such a good episode and we finally get some more back story, which Laura has been desperately craving! Sam and Dean investigate a case in their old childhood home, and John Winchester shows back up although he hides from the boys. We discuss our love for the character Missouri, all the Stephen King references peppered throughout this episode, and Joy has an amazing show Easter egg which links to the backstory of why Lawrence, Kansas was chosen as the setting for the Winchester house. | Episode 97: S5E11 “Sam, Interrupted” | 17 Mar 2026 | 01:36:29
In this episode Joy and Laura break down season 5 episode 11 of Supernatural “Sam, Interrupted”. Sam and Dean get themselves admitted to a psychiatric hospital to investigate reports of a monster that is killing patients. We discuss how well this episode portrays a psychiatric hospital, how Dr Cartwright looks like Xena, and how nice it is that Martin is the hero of this episode. We also discuss how we don’t actually like the “pudding!” scene as it’s stupid and gross. Is that the hottest take we have had on this podcast so far?? Maybe. In lieu of an Easter egg this week we have insight from a psychologist, and also from someone who has experience of being in a psychiatric facility, giving us their thoughts about this episode. | Episode 8: S1E8 “Bugs” | 28 May 2024 | 01:42:15
This week Joy and Laura get into season 1 episode 8 “Bugs”. Bleurgh! This episode was full of bugs and it was disgusting! We get into a debate about Sam and Dean’s feelings about their Dad which ends up being a bit like a therapy session. Laura gets Joy back for all the Bloody Mary stuff by telling her all about cockroaches here in the UK, and Joy starts a petition for screen doors to be fitted on all houses here. We also get into the fact that they used REAL BEES in the attic scene, putting the actors in danger! Oh and who else noticed Dean’s “flamethrower”? | Episode 7: S1E7 “Hook Man” | 21 May 2024 | 01:34:22
This week Joy and Laura are talking about season 1 episode 7 “Hook Man”. We discuss the nostalgia we feel for 90’s slasher movies, and go off on a bit of a Scream tangent. We also make links between Lori in this episode and Laurie Strode from the Halloween movies. We call out the hypocrisy of religious men, and explain why we think everyone should leave Taylor alone! Joy has another true crime Easter egg, that links to last week’s Easter egg, and Laura reveals what Lori and her Dad are having an argument about in the scene where Sam is keeping watch outside their house, although this is not really a secret if you also watch TV with the subtitles on. | Episode 5: S1E5 “Bloody Mary” | 07 May 2024 | 02:00:41
This week Joy and Laura discuss season 1 episode 5 “Bloody Mary”. We discuss our own experience with sleepover games, Joy talks about her own Bloody Mary experience and we consider the possible origins of the Bloody Mary urban legend. Joy has another show Easter egg for us about Toledo, we discuss the effects trauma has on mental health and our own experiences with this, and we have WILDLY differing opinions about the scene where Dean punches out the police officers. Editing Joy's note here: I want to clarify that while it’s unspoken (because we knew this episode was going to be longer and so we needed to be somewhat brief when discussing different topics in this week’s show) I just want to make it really clear that it should never matter how a girl dresses or speaks, we should always listen when she speaks out and her pain should never become a cultural joke. I also want to note that I hope that everyone can see the parallel that I’m drawing between these unsolved cases, femicide statistics, as well as women listening to true crime in order to feel prepared in this world. We also, often, don’t want cold cases to be unsolved or the names of the women before us to just fade away. They lived and they matter and they deserved more from the world. Don’t forget to email us your own Bloody Mary experiences or just childhood spooky stories.

This week Joy and Laura are analysing season 1 episode 4 “Phantom Traveler”. We didn’t think this was the best episode for many reasons that we will get into. We discuss how this episode is basically a remake of Final Destination, why the demon in this episode seems to be obsessed with bad puns, how cute Dean is with his homemade EMF reader, and Joy tells us some actual phantom traveler stories. Joy sings home on the range at one point, and Laura questions why she is so attracted to grumpy Sam. Red flags anyone? We were a little sleep deprived and unhinged this episode, could you tell?! | Episode 95: S5E9 “The Real Ghostbusters” | 03 Mar 2026 | 01:39:19
In this episode Joy and Laura break down season 5 episode 9 of Supernatural “The Real Ghostbusters”. Sam and Dean turn up at the first annual Supernatural convention and have to hunt a real threat amongst all of the LARPers pretending to be them. We had so much fun on this episode! We discuss how we would love to go to this convention, how Hookman is like all Supernatural podcasters, and how Damien and Barnes are gay heroes. We also discuss how meta this episode is, how the relationship between the Supernatural creators and the fandom is really special, and how Becky might actually be the MVP??? Joy’s Easter eggs are about how actress Crystal Lowe is a legit Scream Queen, and the story of the real Gore Orphanage, or Light of Hope Orphanage, that this episode is based on. | Episode 94: S5E8 “Changing Channels” (featuring Navya from Anywhere But Here Fangirl) | 24 Feb 2026 | 01:41:40
In this episode we break down season 5 episode 8 “Changing Channels”. Sam and Dean are transported into various TV shows by the trickster, who it turns out is actually the archangel Gabriel, who is trying to force them to say yes to being Lucifer and Michael’s vessels. We had so much fun with this episode. We discuss how entertaining this episode is; the different TV show references; the trickster/Gabriel plot twist; and how this is actually a deep episode that pushes the main storyline along despite seeming like a silly, goofy episode on the surface. Joy’s Easter egg is about the significance of the number 4 on the warehouse door. Stay safe out there, have each other’s backs, and always keep fighting! | Episode 92: S5E7 “The Curious Case of Dean Winchester” | 17 Feb 2026 | 01:46:08
In this episode Joy and Laura break down season 5 episode 7 “The Curious Case of Dean Winchester”. Sam, Dean and Bobby work a case involving a witch playing poker games where people gamble with years of their life instead of money. Both Bobby and Dean lose years and age, and it’s up to Sam to save them with his secretly good poker skills. We discuss our thoughts about the character Patrick; the differences in quality between some of the aging scenes; and then we try to understand poker and how fictional aging would work- would Bobby be out of his wheelchair if he just got younger? How old is old Dean supposed to be??? We also discuss how important Bobby is when he says he feels useless, how Sam is a genius when he manipulates Patrick in his poker game, and how toxic masculinity ruined the cute moment between Bobby and Dean at the end. Joy’s Easter eggs are about the representation of Asian women in media, witches bells, and real folklore involving bets and bargaining. | Episode 92: S5E6 “I Believe The Children Are Our Future” | 10 Feb 2026 | 01:21:24
In this episode Joy and Laura break down season 5 episode 6 “I Believe The Children Are Our Future”. Sam and Dean investigate a series of deaths and strange happenings that resemble urban legends or lies that kids believe. After some investigation they find a young boy called Jesse who possesses the power to make his thoughts reality, and who Cas says is the Antichrist. We discuss how the demon lore on the show has seemingly changed; how Jesse is actually very sweet, even though he’s the supposed Antichrist; and also how we never see him again after this episode, even though he seems very relevant to the apocalypse plot. We also discuss how a lot of the lies we tell children have breaking and entering involved for some reason, and Joy traumatises Laura with a story about sea monkeys. Joy’s Easter eggs are about what happened to the Castiel action figures on the set, how the Antichrist lore holds up, and some examples of surreal history. | Episode 91: S5E5 “Fallen Idols” | 03 Feb 2026 | 01:34:35
In this episode Joy and Laura break down season 5 episode 5 “Fallen Idols”. Sam and Dean investigate when it seems like the ghosts of famous people start killing residents of a town in Ohio. We start with a, sort of, mailbag segment where listeners tell us the line or scene that got them hooked on Supernatural, and their comfort episodes. Feel free to email us yours. You can find the email address further down in these show notes. We discuss the commentary around celebrity that this episode brings up as satire, and the beauty standard of the 2000’s; Dean fangirling over James Dean’s car; and Paris Hilton’s performance. Spoiler alert, we love it, so if you’re here to hate on her, you’re in the wrong place. Joy fact checks the lore about James Dean’s car, and her Easter eggs are about real Leshy folklore, and how we idolise celebrities. Stay safe out there, have each other’s backs, and always keep fighting! | Episode 90: S5E4 “The End” | 27 Jan 2026 | 01:34:33
In this episode Joy and Laura break down season 5 episode 4 “The End”. Dean is sent 5 years into the future, to 2014, by the angel Zachariah to see what the world will be like if he continues to say no to being Michael’s vessel. He meets the future version of himself, who has been hardened by the apocalypse, and finds out that he never reconciled with Sam and that Sam is now Lucifer's vessel! Uh oh! We discuss how well Jensen acted the 2 Deans in this episode to make them recognisable from each other, Woodstock Cas (as Joy dubbed him), and Dean standing up to Sam/Lucifer!! We also discuss how the brothers' relationship has been shifting, our thoughts about Future Dean, the Colt coming back, Cas being human now, and Dean’s plan to kill Lucifer. Joy’s Easter eggs are about exorcisms in Kansas City, how there were actually some apocalypse type things going on in the US the year this was filmed such as outbreaks of Ebola and HRN1, and snowstorms; and the Kansas City Prophets who Joy thinks the episode might have been making a reference to with Cas’ character in this episode. In this episode Joy and Laura break down season 5 episode 3 “Free to Be You and Me”. We see what S&D have been up to since going their separate ways. Sam has given up the hunting life and has found work at a bar in Oklahoma. Meanwhile, Dean and Cas team up to capture the archangel Raphael who might be able to help them find God. We discuss how hilarious the Dean and Cas dynamic is in this episode, a conspiracy Joy has about Lindsey, and how the final scene with Lucifer and Sam is like a rom-com. We also discuss queerbaiting, representation, and have lots of fun facts as usual. Joy’s Easter eggs are about civil rights stories that are linked to the locations in this episode. | Episode 106: S5E19 “Hammer Of The Gods” | 26 May 2026 | 01:35:55
In this episode Joy and Laura break down season 5 episode 19 of Supernatural “Hammer Of The Gods”. Sam and Dean are lured to a fancy hotel by a bunch of different Gods who are planning to use them to stop the apocalypse. Gabriel then shows up to help them. We discuss Laura’s love of brotherly banter, the misrepresentation of the deities in this episode (especially Zao Shen), how in a different world Dean and Gabriel might actually be friends, and the disgusting final scene where we meet Pestilence. We also discuss the amazing fight between Gabriel and Lucifer, why Sam and Dean would watch porn out in the middle of nowhere with their laptop on top of the car, and the idea that Gabriel gives them which will form the storyline for the rest of this season. Joy’s Easter egg is the real lore behind Zao Shen. Stay safe out there, have each other’s backs, and always keep fighting! | Episode 88: S5E2 “Good God, Y’all!” | 13 Jan 2026 | 01:26:50
In this episode Joy and Laura break down season 5 episode 2 “Good God, Y’all!”. One of the four horsemen of the apocalypse, War, controls a town making everyone think everyone else is a demon so they fight among themselves and kill each other needlessly. Sam and Dean team up with Jo, Ellen and Rufus to save the day. We discuss our feelings about seeing Ellen and Jo again, Laura gets impatient to see Lucifer, and we both think War is a hot villain. We also discuss how Sam might be pushing himself too far, just so Dean will forgive him, the parallels to addiction, the morals around killing someone possessed by a demon, and react to Sam and Dean separating at the end of the episode. Joy’s Easter eggs are about Maria Rubio and Jesus on the tortilla, what The Book of Revelation says about War, and the crime rates in the location to find out how violent it actually is. Meanwhile, Lucifer is searching for his vessel, a man named Nick, and gains his consent to use him as a host body. We discuss Becky and how much we hate her; how Laura is going to fall in love with Lucifer; and Bobby being possessed by a demon, and how he manages to break through the demon possession because he loves Sam and Dean so much! We also discuss the character Nick and how sympathetic he is; how PTSD has been portrayed in this episode, and angel consent. | Episode 85: S4E22 “Lucifer Rising” (featuring TheWallyVerse) | 16 Dec 2025 | 02:13:58
In this episode Joy, Laura and their guest Wally from The Wally Verse break down season 4 episode 22 “Lucifer Rising”. Sam and Dean are still at odds over Sam’s increasing reliance on Ruby and his demon-blood powers. Sam, convinced he must stop Lilith to prevent the apocalypse, continues working with Ruby to find and kill her. Meanwhile Dean has to deal with the angels who are trying to keep him away from Sam, because it is revealed that they in fact want Lillith to die as that is the final seal, and they want the apocalypse to happen. Dean works out what is going on and with Cas’ help gets to Sam to try and stop him, but it’s too late and the final seal gets broken freeing Lucifer. We discuss Ruby’s character arc, how nerdy Sam and Dean really are, how the angelic teleporting works, and our thoughts about Destiel. We also discuss the set design of the angel green room; how deep Azazel’s plot must have gone right from the start, due to what we see in the flashbacks in this episode; and who we think was behind the altered voicemail! Joy’s Easter eggs are about a haunted college in the same place as this episode is set (St. Mary's College "Hell House" in Maryland) and other links to it too. She reassures him that he needs it to stop Lillith. Dean tracks them down and the brothers fight. This episode sets the stage for the season finale and marks one of the most intense breaking points in Sam and Dean’s relationship. We discuss whose side we are on in the Sam vs Dean fight; Sam’s character arc this season and how he got to this point; and Joy shares her thoughts about the lighting for the opening scene. We also discuss Sam’s hallucinations and what they mean; how Sam and Dean turn into John when they are in stressful situations; and whether the drinking blood scene is hot or not. | Episode 82: S4E19 “Jump The Shark” | 25 Nov 2025 | 01:47:25
In this episode Joy and Laura break down season 4 episode 19 “Jump The Shark”. Sam and Dean receive a call from a young man named Adam Milligan, who claims to be John Winchester's son and go to meet him. They help Adam investigate the disappearance of his mother, but things take a dark turn when it’s revealed that Adam and his mother have already been killed, and ghouls have taken on their forms.
We play Kiss, Marry, Kill at the start. Then we discuss whether John is a better or worse dad for protecting Adam from the hunter life, Sam and Dean’s differing reactions to finding out about another sibling, and Laura feels sick from the enclosed spaces Dean has to be in during this episode. We also discuss how disturbing it is when Dean finds Adam and Kate’s bodies, and how Dean pointing out Sam is like their father is the ultimate insult. We discuss how meta this episode is, how rebellious Cas is actually kinda hot, and Laura has a rant about Sam being a hypocrite. We also discuss our love for the laundromat scene (it’s so funny!), our initial thoughts about Chuck, and whether Zachariah is as bad as Uriel. Joy’s Easter eggs are about real prophecies that came true, including writers who have predicted things. Stay safe out there, have each other’s backs, and always keep fighting! | Episode 80: S4E17 “It’s A Terrible Life” | 11 Nov 2025 | 01:45:43
In this episode Joy and Laura break down season 4 episode 17 “It’s A Terrible Life”. Dean wakes up as Dean Smith, a corporate executive at Sandover Bridge & Iron Company, while Sam is Sam Wesson, a tech support worker at the same firm. Neither of them remembers their real lives as hunters. They have to team up to fight a ghost who is haunting the building and killing their colleagues. We discuss how Dean is channeling Patrick Bateman and Sam is channeling Scooby Doo this episode; how we feel about the Ghostfacers this time; all of the gruesome deaths that happen; and how this episode is a much needed breather in what has been a dark season overall so far. We also discuss our fear of lifts/elevators and what would be the better option if we found ourselves in a faulty lift that was about to drop; the ghost’s electric fingers; and how Zachariah actually has a good point at the end of the episode. Joy’s Easter eggs are about the links between the number 1444 and real deaths; the “Hound of the Baskervilles effect”; and an instance where a ghost reportedly killed someone. Stay safe out there, have each other’s backs, and always keep fighting! We discuss how we feel about Dean being hurtful towards Bobby, Cas’ reaction to Dean and how angry he is, and how Adam reacts to being brought back from the dead and being introduced to his half brothers. We also discuss how Sam and Dean are always trying to sacrifice themselves, how Dean is hurting everyone he loves, how we appreciate that the men on this show are allowed to show their emotions, and how badass it is when Cas blows himself up to get them into the angel green room to save Adam. Joy’s Easter eggs are about the significance of the ivory handle of Dean’s gun, and location lore about Van Nuys. Stay safe out there, have each other’s backs, and always keep fighting!
