Website Hacks Every Travel Content Creator Needs to Get More Brand Deals | Ep 13703 Sep 202600:58:57

If the word “website” makes you want to crawl under your desk and never come out, this episode is for you.

Because apparently, you do not need a giant, expensive, perfectly designed website to start building your business online.

You just need somewhere on the internet that you actually own.

In this episode, I’m chatting with my friend Andrea, owner and lead designer of Merveille Creative Studios, about websites, SEO, branding, and what creators actually need when they’re building a business.

And honestly? We are making websites feel way less overwhelming.

If you’re a travel content creator, UGC creator, influencer, or creator who wants to work with brands, tourism boards, and businesses, this episode is packed with practical advice for building an online presence that makes you look legit — without spending your entire life trying to figure out your website.

In this episode, we talk about:

  • Why you should stop relying entirely on Instagram and social media to house your business
  • Why a simple landing page is better than nothing
  • Why you should have your own domain instead of relying on platforms like Linktree or hosted landing pages
  • What your website actually needs if you're just getting started
  • When it's time to graduate from a landing page to a full website
  • The essential pages every creator website should have
  • Why your UGC portfolio should NOT live on Canva
  • How your website can help you get discovered through SEO
  • Why having a website can help creators look more legitimate to brands and tourism boards
  • Website platforms including Squarespace, Wix, Showit, and WordPress
  • Why Andrea personally prefers WordPress for SEO and customization
  • The difference between easy-to-use website platforms and platforms that give you more flexibility
  • Why website speed matters for SEO
  • How to check your website speed with Google PageSpeed Insights
  • The biggest website mistake creators make in their hero section
  • Why you need to tell people who you are and what you do immediately
  • How to use analytics to understand who's actually visiting your website
  • Why you should have an email opt-in on your website
  • What platform you should use if you're selling digital products vs. physical products
  • How your website can become a home base for your travel content creation business

What would happen to your business if Instagram disappeared tomorrow?

For travel creators, social media can feel like the entire business — the content, the audience, the brand deals, the money. But there’s one major problem: you don’t actually own your Instagram audience.

In this episode, we’re talking about why email marketing might be one of the most overlooked tools in a travel creator’s business — and why building an email list can completely change the way you grow, connect with your audience, and make money.

Because being a successful travel creator isn’t just about creating beautiful content. It’s about building a business you actually own.

In this episode, we’re diving into:

  • Why your Instagram followers aren’t actually your audience
  • The difference between rented audiences and owned audiences
  • Why travel content is especially well-suited for email marketing
  • How your audience is already using your travel content to plan trips
  • Why hotel recommendations, packing lists, visa tips, and destination guides can become the foundation of your newsletter
  • Why email can be more valuable to brands than your Instagram following
  • How a newsletter can support your brand deal strategy
  • What makes a travel newsletter actually worth opening
  • Why consistency matters more than sending emails every week
  • How to create short, conversational emails that don’t take hours to write
  • Why your newsletter needs a clear purpose beyond “here’s what I’ve been up to”
  • How to stop overthinking your emails and actually hit send

👉 Sign up HERE  for access to my FREE workshop: From Overthinking to Outbox

A free 25-min workshop on building a newsletter that feels as easy as texting — structure, consistency, and how to turn readers into clients.

For creators who know they need a newsletter and just need it to feel doable.

Today I’m sharing the apps and tools I think you are absolutely sleeping on if you want to grow your business, save time, and stop doing everything manually.

I’m a big believer that the right tools can make running your business so much easier and there are a few that I use constantly that I think more travel creators need to know about.

In this episode, I’m breaking down my favorite creator tools, business systems, AI tools, and apps for everything from project management and pitching to email marketing, time tracking, content creation, and staying organized.

We’re talking about:

  • Why Asana is one of my non-negotiable business systems and how I use the desktop app to quickly capture tasks
  • Why I use Instagram on desktop instead of my phone to avoid the doom-scroll trap
  • How I use LinkedIn as a more intentional engagement activity
  • The dictation tool I’m OBSESSED with and why WhisperFlow is a game changer for writing emails and YouTube scripts.

👉 USE MY WHISPERFLOW LINK TO GET STARTED

  • How I use Airtable as a lead tracker for my more complicated pitching system
  • The simple Google Chrome tab organization trick that makes my life way easier
  • Why I’m moving from Fathom to Granola for meeting notes
  • How I’m experimenting with Claude to clean up my desktop and take some of those annoying manual tasks off my plate
  • Why the humble Notes app is one of my favorite business tools
  • The new Kit MCP feature and why I’m excited about connecting AI directly to my email marketing
  • How Subscriber Signals can help you identify potential collaborators and opportunities hiding inside your email list
  • New design features, landing pages, and forms inside Kit
  • Why I think you should be using Google Sheets and Google Forms instead of constantly adding another paid platform and another login to your life
  • How I’m using Toggl to track exactly where my time is going
  • Why I’m doing a time audit to figure out what I should be automating, delegating, or using AI to help with

The Unsexy Email Marketing Strategies I'm Doing That Makes My Clients Money | Ep 13413 Aug 202600:17:10

What if your newsletter could do more than just sit in someone’s inbox every week?

In this episode, I’m taking you behind the scenes of two recent email marketing projects I’ve been working on and breaking down the exact strategies we’re using to turn subscribers into warm leads, create FOMO, and ultimately convert people into paying customers.

Because your email list should not be an afterthought.

I’m walking you through how I’m building a waitlist strategy for Cocktails & Clothes, including the welcome sequence, weekly newsletter, segmentation, speed networking events, early-access offers, and the systems that keep the waitlist warm.

I’m also sharing how I took a business strategist from basically zero to a fully automated newsletter system in just three weeks — including why I chose GoHighLevel over Substack, how we’re using different signup forms and welcome sequences based on where someone came from, and why having a content strategy behind your newsletter matters SO much.

And honestly? This is the unglamorous backend stuff that actually works.

In this episode, I’m breaking down:

  • How to build an email marketing strategy that turns followers into paying customers
  • The influencer strategies and creator tips you can use to create FOMO around your offer
  • How to create a waitlist that actually stays warm and converts
  • The email sequence I’m using to nurture people from waitlist signup to purchase
  • Why segmentation from day one is non-negotiable
  • How to use a weekly newsletter to consistently showcase wins, testimonials, events, and social proof
  • Why your newsletter should have a goal beyond simply “sending content”
  • How to create different welcome sequences based on where your subscribers came from
  • Why you may need multiple signup forms for your email list
  • How to build a newsletter content bank so you’re never starting from scratch
  • Why I chose GoHighLevel instead of jumping on the Substack train
  • How to build automated email marketing systems without adding another million tools to your business
  • The importance of documenting your backend systems so you actually know how everything works
  • How I took a newsletter system from kickoff to launch in just three weeks

creators spend years figuring out how to make more money... but almost nobody teaches us what to do once the money actually starts showing up.

In this episode, I'm sitting down with my friend Jillian Todd from The Money Confident Podcast to talk about the financial side of running a creator business that nobody prepared us for. If you've ever looked at your bank account, shrugged, and thought, "I think I'm doing okay?"—this episode is for you.

We're talking about the numbers every creator needs to know, how to stop running your business on vibes, why recurring revenue is one of the most underrated ways to reduce stress, and how to actually build wealth without giving up the things you love.

Because here's the truth...

Knowing how to create content and knowing how to run a profitable business are two completely different skills.

And it's time we started treating our creator businesses like actual businesses.

In This Episode We Cover:

  • Why so many successful creators still feel anxious about money
  • The four financial numbers every creator should know
  • Revenue vs. expenses vs. profit (without the confusing finance jargon)
  • How to stop running your business "on vibes"
  • Creating a monthly income minimum that gives you peace of mind
  • Financial systems that actually work (even if you hate spreadsheets)
  • QuickBooks vs. Google Sheets vs. Monarch Money
  • Why recurring revenue creates financial freedom
  • Smart tax planning for creators and freelancers
  • Investing your money instead of letting it sit
  • How to build wealth while running a creative business
  • Why pricing—not working more hours—is often the key to scaling
  • Setting realistic income goals that your brain can actually believe
  • How to reward yourself while still building wealth
  • Becoming your own "sugar daddy" (yes... we went there.)

The BEST Business Systems for Travel Content Creators to Stay Organized | Ep 13230 Jul 202600:11:35

👉 Get the Creator to CEO Playbook for $5

You don't need another content strategy.

You don't need another trending Reel.

And you definitely don't need 47 open tabs, six Notes app lists, and random ideas living in your Instagram DMs.

If you're a travel content creator who feels busy all the time but still wonders why your business isn't growing, this episode is your wake-up call.

Because chances are... you don't have a content problem.

You have a business systems problem.

In this episode, I'm breaking down exactly how to build an Operations Hub—the boring backend system that actually helps you make more money, stay organized, and finally start running your creator business like a CEO instead of constantly putting out fires.

Yes, it's boring.

Yes, it works.

In this episode, you'll learn:

  • Why most travel influencers don't actually have a content problem—they have an infrastructure problem.
  • What an Operations Hub is (and why every creator needs one).
  • How to organize your business using Asana, Notion, Google Sheets, or whatever works best for your brain.
  • The three things every Operations Hub should track.
  • How to stop recreating content from scratch every week.
  • The simple weekly operating rhythm that actually moves revenue.
  • How to organize leads so you stop letting opportunities go cold.
  • Why building boring business systems is one of the biggest business hacks successful creators use.
  • The mindset shift from creator to CEO that changes everything.

Things I Do the Second I Want to Quit My Business and Become a Barista | Ep 13123 Jul 202600:10:50

Some days you're the smartest, most beautiful person to ever grace the earth. Other days you want to crawl into the back of a dumpster and hope somebody sets it on fire. This is an episode for the second kind of day.

Okay so. Real talk: running your own travel creator business does not come with a "smartest and most beautiful person alive" setting every single day. Sometimes it comes with a "maybe I should just go polish up my resume and see if I could even get hired as a barista" setting. And if you've never had a barista day, congratulations, I don't believe you.

In this episode I'm walking you through exactly what I do when I hit one of those days — when the highs are high, the lows are LOW, and I genuinely consider giving it all up for a full-fledged coffee bar situation instead. This is not a "hustle harder" pep talk. This is the actual toolkit I use to get myself off the floor and back to running my travel influencer business like the boss I am 80% of the time.

We're talking:

  • Why baristas get up at 4 AM and what that has to do with anything (spoiler: it's about structure, not caffeine)
  • Letting yourself actually feel the barista feelings instead of toxic-positivity-ing your way past them
  • Why your best ideas never happen while you're sitting at your computer — get the fuck out
  • The Parkinson's Law trick I use to get killer work done before 3 PM so I can have my whole evening back
  • My feel-good folder — the one piece of proof that you've won before and you'll win again
  • Scheduling movement, changing your environment, and giving yourself something (anything) to look forward to
  • Why phoning a friend in the business-building world might be the most underrated business hack nobody's talking about
  • Letting yourself do the "unnecessary" fun work — yes, even the mean-girl-style carousels — because it gets you excited to come back

This episode is basically permission to have a bad day, followed by an actual plan to get out of it. Because knowing how to create good content and knowing how to run a content creation business are two completely different skills — and nobody's talking about the second one. Except me.

6 Things I'd Do Differently Starting My Creator Business From Scratch | Ep 13016 Jul 202600:08:49

I had to build my creator business all over again, I'd make way fewer things... and a whole lot more money.

Seriously.

There are so many things I spent time worrying about that didn't actually grow my business. Looking back, there are only a handful of things that truly moved the needle, and if I were starting from zero today, I'd ignore almost everything else.

In this episode, I'm sharing the six things I'd do differently so you can skip some of the mistakes, avoid productive procrastination, and build a creator business that actually pays you.

Whether you're building a UGC business, growing a travel content business, or working toward becoming a full-time creator, these are the lessons I wish someone had told me years ago.

In this episode, we talk about:

  •  Why following too many business experts slows your progress
  •  How to choose one content platform and stay consistent
  •  The backend systems every creator should set up from day one
  •  The handful of tasks that actually generate revenue
  •  Why networking creates more opportunities than posting more content
  •  How to stop wasting hours creating content that doesn't lead to monetization
  •  The biggest mindset shift that helped simplify my business

If I could give you one piece of advice...

Figure out how you've made money before.

Then keep doing those things.

It's honestly that simple.

Not easy—but simple.

Too many creators assume they need more content, another strategy, or another course when what they actually need is to repeat the activities that already produce results.

How to Get More Brand Deals & Sales with THIS Instagram Strategy | Ep 12910 Jul 202600:51:19

Okay. Listen.

If you've been spending hours trying to create the perfect Reel while completely ignoring your Instagram Stories... we need to have a chat.

In this episode, I'm sitting in the trunk of my car (yes, really) while Alyssa records from what sounds like an actual cave. The audio? Not our finest work. The content? Absolutely worth it.

Alyssa Moorhead  host of The DM Sales Gal podcast is the queen of Instagram Stories, DM sales, and helping business owners stop relying on endless content creation to make sales. She shares exactly how she uses simple, five-minute Stories to generate leads, start conversations, and even close $16,000 sales—all without complicated funnels or endless sales calls.

If Instagram has started to feel exhausting, this episode will feel like a giant sigh of relief.

In this episode, we cover:

  • Why Instagram Stories are often more powerful than Reels for converting followers into clients
  • The simple five-minute daily habit that can completely change your lead generation
  • What to actually post on Stories (even when you think you have nothing to say)
  • The biggest Instagram Stories mistakes keeping people from buying
  • How to turn Story viewers into genuine conversations (without being weird or salesy)
  • The four types of Stories that consistently bring in clients
  • Why sharing your client work is more valuable than creating perfect content
  • How to build trust without scripts, polished videos, or fancy editing
  • Alyssa's five-step DM sales process that replaces traditional sales calls
  • Why fewer Story viewers can actually lead to more sales
  • How to organize and nurture leads without overcomplicating your systems
  • Calls-to-benefit vs. calls-to-action (this one changed how I think about content)

Memorable Moments

"You literally don't have five minutes?"

That sentence lives rent-free in my brain now... and honestly? It's why I've been consistently showing up on Stories.

We also talk about:

  • Why your audience doesn't care if your hair is messy or you're wearing yesterday's T-shirt.
  • Why your business is far more interesting than you think it is.
  • How simply talking about your client work can fill your inbox with inquiries.
  • Why Instagram Stories should feel more like FaceTiming a friend than performing for strangers.

The Four Things That Actually Grew My Business (June Business Lessons) | Ep 128 02 Jul 202600:48:00

👉 Join the Travel Creator Business Plan Community and get the systems, support, and strategy to grow your creator business. Sign up here! ✈️

Ever catch yourself trying to reinvent your travel creator business when what’s actually working is staring you right in the face?

This month I sat down with my my podcast producer Marie from Your Girl Media to unpack our biggest business lessons from June, and honestly, the theme was pretty clear: boring works. Not sexy. Not groundbreaking. Just effective.

We talked about the habits, systems, and mindset shifts that are actually moving the needle in our businesses right now—from lead tracking and hiring support to selling through stories and treating your business like a real storefront.

If you've been feeling pulled toward shiny new ideas instead of doubling down on what's already working, this episode is your reminder to keep it simple.

In this episode, we cover:

• Why “boring is profitable” and the simple business activities that create the biggest results
• The mistake entrepreneurs make when they keep adding more offers, systems, and complexity
• How hiring a virtual assistant changed the game (and why most people don't know how to use one effectively at first)
• What happened when Marie finally started using her lead tracker consistently
• Why successful businesses iterate instead of constantly reinventing themselves
• The mindset shift of treating your online business like a brick-and-mortar store
• How to handle pricing, discounts, and boundaries with more confidence
• The power of Instagram Stories for lead generation and relationship building
• Why showing up online isn't actually about you
• Laura's surprisingly simple list of business activities that drive growth
• The private newsletter trainings generating high-converting sales conversations
• How warm leads convert differently than cold audiences
• The difference between growing a business and actually scaling one
• Capacity, pricing, and the hidden challenges that come with increased demand
• Why entrepreneurs need to brag about their accomplishments more often

Key Takeaways:

✨ Boring builds businesses. The activities you want to skip are often the ones producing the best results.

✨ Stop fixing what's not broken. If something is working, your job is usually to improve it—not replace it.

✨ Showing up consistently matters more than showing up perfectly.

✨ Your business doesn't need 100 strategies. It needs a handful of proven actions repeated consistently.

✨ Scaling isn't just making more money—it's increasing revenue while decreasing the amount of time required to earn it.

127: Legal Mistakes Content Creators Are Making (Protect Yourself Before It's Too Late!) 25 Jun 202600:54:42

What if one missing hashtag, one affiliate link, or one overlooked clause in a contract could cost you thousands of dollars?

Yeah. I know.

This episode absolutely broke my brain in the best possible way.

Today I'm sitting down with Alexis Campisi, attorney and founder of Life & Lemons Legal, who specializes in helping content creators, influencers, and online business owners stay legally protected while building their businesses online.

And let me tell you—if you've ever thought, "I'll deal with the legal stuff later," this episode is your sign.

From FTC disclosures and affiliate marketing rules to privacy policies, trademarks, LLCs, contracts, and the surprisingly scary things hiding in brand agreements, Alexis is sharing the legal foundations every creator needs to know before something goes wrong.

Don't panic. This episode isn't here to scare you out of entrepreneurship.

It's here to help you protect the business you're working so hard to build.

In This Episode, We Cover:

  • The hidden risks of collecting customer data online

✨ Privacy policies are living documents that should be updated as your business evolves.

✨ Many creator contracts heavily favor the brand, which is why reading every clause matters.

✨ An LLC helps create separation between your personal and business assets.

✨ Trademark issues can become incredibly expensive if you discover them too late.

✨ Legal compliance isn't about being perfect from day one—it's about building a stronger foundation as your business grows.

What happens if your brand deals dry up tomorrow?

Not in a dramatic, end-of-the-world way. Just a normal slow season. A budget cut. A campaign that gets postponed. A client who ghosts after saying, "We'll circle back."

If that thought makes you uncomfortable, this episode is for you.

Too many successful travel creators have built businesses that look solid on the outside but rely almost entirely on rented income. Brand deals can be lucrative, but they're still income streams that someone else controls. And if brand deals are your only revenue source, you're not really running a business—you're running a very successful freelance operation.

In this episode, I'm breaking down why every travel creator needs owned income alongside brand partnerships and how to start building revenue streams that you actually control.

In This Episode:

  • Why brand deals are "rented income" (and why that's a problem)
  • The difference between rented income and owned income
  • How to create more stable travel creator income streams
  • Why an email list is the foundation of every sustainable travel creator business
  • The simplest way to start building travel influencer passive income
  • How to identify products, services, or offers hiding inside your existing content
  • Questions to ask yourself before creating a course, membership, or digital product
  • Why waiting until you need additional revenue is already too late
  • How successful creators build long-term travel influencer income beyond sponsorships

Key Takeaway

Brand deals should be part of your business—not the entire business.

The creators building sustainable, long-term wealth aren't just negotiating bigger sponsorships. They're building owned assets, owned audiences, and owned income streams that continue generating revenue regardless of what brands decide to do this quarter.

If you've already mastered brand partnerships, the next level isn't more content.

It's building a business.

Today, I'm pulling back the curtain on one of my highest-income months ever and sharing the business lessons that came with it. From unexpected income streams and client conversions to content positioning, productivity, and the mindset shifts that helped me grow, I'm walking you through exactly what happened and what I'm taking with me into the next season of business.

If you're building a travel creator business and wondering how to increase your revenue without adding more to your plate, this episode is for you.

In This Episode:

  • What actually contributed to my highest-income month
  • Why looking at your data matters more than chasing new strategies
  • The surprising timeline behind client conversions
  • Why travel creators need to share more of their behind-the-scenes work
  • The shift from content strategist to revenue strategist
  • How I evaluate content through a revenue-generating lens
  • The importance of focusing on income-producing activities
  • The lesson I learned about travel creator income streams
  • Why "boring" business activities often create the biggest results
  • My new daily sales habit that's helping move the needle
  • How EFT tapping helped me manage stress, imposter syndrome, and anxiety
  • Why I do my best work when I have travel plans on the calendar
  • The "Save the Day" practice that's helping me avoid burnout
  • Key Takeaways for Travel Creators

One of the biggest lessons from this month was realizing that revenue doesn't always arrive the way you expect it to. While I was focused on growing one area of my business, some of my biggest wins came from completely different travel creator income streams.

Another reminder? Content alone isn't the goal. Revenue is.

Every piece of content should support a larger business objective. Whether you're creating content for brand partnerships, affiliate marketing, digital products, services, or UGC, the question isn't "What should I post?" It's "How does this support my business goals?"

The most successful travel creator businesses aren't built on doing more—they're built on doing the right things consistently.

124: The Pinterest Strategy Behind 1 Million Impressions ( Stop Ignoring Pinterest as a Creator!) 04 Jun 202600:42:17

What if the marketing content you create today was still bringing in leads, clicks, affiliate income, and clients a year from now?

Because that's exactly what Pinterest can do.

And if you're anything like me, you've probably been treating Pinterest like that app you open when you're planning a trip, redecorating your apartment, or convincing yourself you'll start meal prepping next week. But after this conversation with Pinterest strategist Laura England, I'm officially reconsidering everything.

In this episode, we're talking about why creators, travel bloggers, business owners, coaches, and service providers need to stop chasing one-hit-wonder content and start building marketing assets that compound over time.

Laura shares how she grew a Pinterest account from virtually zero to over a million monthly impressions, why Pinterest works more like Google than Instagram, and the exact strategy she uses to help clients generate long-term traffic without posting 24/7.

If you've been relying entirely on Instagram, TikTok, or short-form content to grow your business, this episode might just change your marketing strategy forever.

In This Episode, We Cover:

  • Why Pinterest is one of the most underrated marketing platforms in 2026
  • The difference between short-term marketing and sustainable marketing
  • How Pinterest traffic compounds over time
  • Why creators and business owners should think like search engines, not social media algorithms
  • The Pinterest SEO strategy every beginner should know
  • How to use Pinterest Trends to predict future search traffic
  • Common Pinterest mistakes that hurt reach and visibility
  • How travel creators can use Pinterest to drive blog traffic, affiliate sales, and inquiries
  • Why linking directly to affiliate links can hurt your Pinterest strategy
  • How to create Pinterest boards that actually help the algorithm understand your brand
  • The role of keywords, alt text, and SEO in Pinterest growth
  • Why LinkedIn and Pinterest are Laura's favorite sustainable marketing platforms
  • The surprising reason most creators quit Pinterest too early

Key Takeaways
Pinterest is a Search Engine, Not a Social Platform

Most creators approach Pinterest like Instagram. That's the mistake.

Pinterest behaves much more like Google, meaning users are actively searching for solutions, inspiration, and products. The content you publish today can continue generating traffic months—or even years—from now.

Sustainable Marketing Beats Constant Content Creation

Instead of constantly creating content that disappears after 24 hours, Laura encourages creators to build marketing assets that continue working long after they're published.

Think:

Pinterest
Email marketing
Blogging
LinkedIn
Podcasts
YouTube

These channels compound over time rather than requiring daily visibility.

Pinterest Rewards Patience

Unlike TikTok, where content can go viral overnight and disappear just as quickly, Pinterest content often takes 2–3 months to gain traction.

But once it starts ranking, it can continue sending traffic for years.

Pinterest Trends Is Your Secret Weapon

Pinterest literally tells you what's going to trend before it trends.

Using Pinterest Trends allows creators to publish content months in advance and position themselves at the top of search results when demand peaks.

Your Website Should Be the Destination

Laura recommends sending Pinterest traffic primarily to:

Blog posts
Podcast episodes
Email opt-ins
Long-term content assets
Evergreen sales pages

Are you building a travel creator business… or just creating content and hoping the next brand deal lands in your inbox?

In this episode, I’m breaking down the biggest mindset shift travel creators need to make if they want more freedom, stability, and income that doesn’t rely on the algorithm. Because there’s a huge difference between being a creator and becoming a founder — and most people never talk about it.

If you’ve been stuck in the cycle of chasing engagement, waiting on paid campaigns, or feeling like you’re starting from zero every single month, this episode is going to hit home.

I’m sharing:

  • The difference between rented income vs owned income
  • Why a following alone is not a business
  • The shift from creator thinking to founder thinking
  • The “boring” backend work that actually creates freedom
  • Why email lists, digital products, and recurring revenue matter so much
  • How to start building a travel creator business that works even when you’re offline

This episode is your reminder that you became a travel creator to travel — not to spend 12 hours hunched over your laptop refreshing analytics and hoping a post performs.

In This Episode:

  • Why content creators burn out without business systems
  • How to stop relying entirely on brand deals and UGC income
  • The importance of building owned revenue streams
  • What travel creators should focus on instead of just posting more
  • How founder decisions differ from creator decisions
  • Simple ways to start building a sustainable online business

Key Takeaways:

✨ A following is an audience. A business is a system.
✨ Brand deals are great — but they shouldn’t be your only income source.
✨ Email lists, memberships, affiliate income, and digital products create long-term stability.
✨ “Boring” backend business work is what actually creates freedom.
✨ You don’t need more followers — you need better systems.

You do not need another productivity app. You do not need a prettier Notion dashboard. And you definitely do not need to spend another six hours researching “the perfect creator setup” instead of actually pitching brands, sending emails, or making offers.

Today, I’m breaking down the best tools for content creation that I actually recommend to travel creators in 2026 — but more importantly, I’m talking about the mindset shift you need if you want to make money as a travel creator and finally learn how to become a full time content creator.

Because the truth is: tools don’t build businesses. Actions do.

If you’re trying to figure out how to quit your job as a travel content creator, build recurring revenue, and stop treating your creator business like a hobby, this episode is for you.

In this episode, I talk about:

  •  Why “productive procrastination” keeps creators stuck
  •  The biggest mistake travel creators make when trying to grow income
  •  Why your email list matters more than social media followers
  •  The exact tools I use and recommend to creator clients
  •  How to organize your creator business without feeling chaotic
  •  Why Threads is wildly underrated for market research and audience growth
  •  The boring business habits that actually create recurring revenue
  •  What revenue-generating activities creators should focus on every week
  •  How to stop obsessing over tools and start acting like a business owner

The Tools I Recommend for Travel Creators in 2026

Email Marketing + Selling Products

  •  Kit

Business Organization

  •  Airtable

Workspace + Communication

  •  Gmail + Google Workspace

Screen Recording Alternative

  •  Google Vids

Audience Growth + Market Research

  •  Threads

Key Takeaways From This Episode

The creators making consistent money are not the ones with the fanciest tech stack.

They’re the creators:

  •  sending the pitch emails
  •  following up with warm leads
  •  building relationships
  •  talking about their offers
  •  emailing their audience
  •  repeating what works

Boring builds businesses.

And honestly? That’s the shift nobody talks about when teaching people how to become a full time content creator.

Today I’m breaking down how travel creators can build real passive income through trust, storytelling, and content that actually converts — without turning into a walking ad.

If you’ve been wondering how travel influencers are monetizing their content in 2026, this episode is your reminder that affiliate marketing still works… when you do it right.

I’m diving into the real reason affiliate marketing is still exploding for creators — and why travel creators have a massive advantage when it comes to content monetization. Instead of spamming “use my code” links everywhere, I’m sharing how I think about affiliate marketing in a way that feels authentic, useful, and profitable long term.

I talk about:

  •  Why affiliate marketing is still growing in 2026
  •  How I think about passive income as a travel creator
  •  The biggest mistake I see content creators making with affiliate links
  •  How to choose affiliate products without losing your audience’s trust
  •  Why storytelling converts better than random product promotion
  •  The difference between quick commissions and long-term recurring revenue
  •  How I use evergreen content for affiliate marketing
  •  The right way to disclose affiliate links
  •  Why micro creators often outperform huge influencers in affiliate sales

I also share practical ways I’d integrate affiliate links naturally into newsletters, blogs, YouTube videos, podcasts, and short-form content while building a sustainable creator business.

If this episode helped you rethink affiliate marketing as a travel creator, send it to another creator friend who’s trying to figure out content monetization and passive income online.

And if you’re ready to stop operating like “just a content creator” and start building an actual business, check out my Travel Creator Business Plan community linked below. Inside, I teach the systems behind building a sustainable creator business — not just chasing the next viral post.

Guess what guys..you don’t need more content to make more money. You can start getting paid from the content you already created.

Today we’re flipping the script. Because while everyone else is screaming “post more, create more, do more,” we’re doing what we do best over here: less, but better.

If you’re a content creator or travel influencer sitting on months (or years) of content… this episode is your wake-up call. That content? It’s not dead. It’s not outdated. It’s not “just sitting there.” It’s unpaid. And we’re fixing that.

We’re diving into how to actually unlock content monetization from what you’ve already made—so you can get paid to travel without burning out trying to keep up with the content hamster wheel.

What You’ll Learn

  • Why creating more content is NOT the fastest path to making more money
  • How to audit your existing content (yes, I know… but it matters)
  • The easiest way to start earning passive income with affiliate links
  • How to turn old posts into email marketing that actually converts
  • Why your email list is your biggest power move as a travel influencer
  • How your top-performing content is basically free market research
  • Simple ways to turn past content into paid products (without overcomplicating it)

🔥 Key Takeaways

1. More content ≠ more money
More conversion is what actually pays you. And that doesn’t require new content.

2. Your old content is a goldmine
If it performed well once, it can perform (and convert) again—with the right strategy.

3. Affiliate links are the lowest lift win
Seriously. Brands hand these out like candy. Add them to your existing content and start earning.

4. Email is where the money is
If you’re not building an email list yet, you’re leaving money—and brand deals—on the table.

5. Your audience is already telling you what to sell
Your saves, shares, and DMs? That’s your product roadmap.

Alright, go make some extra cash from content you’ve already created. I’ll see you next week.

Hot take: your follower count is not the reason you’re broke as a creator.

If you’ve been obsessing over how to grow on Instagram or trying to go viral thinking that’s the key to becoming a Full Time Creator… we need to talk.

Today, I’m a little fired up in this episode

Because I need you to hear this, followers do not equal money. And the sooner you stop building your entire strategy around that idea, the sooner you can actually start to make money as a content creator.

I’m coming to you as someone who works behind the scenes in creator businesses every single day, and I’m telling you right now: I know creators with 100K+ followers who are barely making anything… and creators with under 2K followers who are bringing in consistent income.

So what’s the difference?

It’s not growth.
It’s not going viral.
It’s not posting more.

It’s strategy.

✨ What We’re Getting Into:

  • Why chasing followers won’t pay your rent (and what actually will)
  • The truth about becoming a Full Time Creator (hint: it’s not about numbers)
  • How to grow on Instagram without making it your entire personality
  • Why “going viral” is not a business model
  • The biggest mistake travel creators make when trying to monetize
  • How to make money as a content creator without waiting on brands
  • Real, sustainable travel creator income streams you can start now
  • What it actually looks like to quit your job and become a travel content creator

Let me say this louder for the people in the back:

You do not need 10,000 followers to make money.
You do not need brand deals to validate your business.
And you definitely do not need to wait around for the algorithm to pick you.

That whole narrative of:
“Grow your audience → get brand deals → make money → repeat”

…it’s not wrong, but it is the hardest way to do this.

Because here’s a wild concept—you can make money without a massive audience and that is what we are talking about today.

115: Is TikTok Dying in 2026? Here’s What to Do if Your Income Depends on It02 Apr 202600:09:09

Is TikTok dying?

Today, I’m breaking down what’s actually going on with TikTok right now—from the ongoing TikTok ban conversation to the shifts in reach, content style, and creator burnout. This is not me telling you to panic or delete the app. It’s me giving you the real strategy behind what it means to be a content creator in 2026.

If you’re trying to become a full time creator and relying on TikTok for your monetization, this episode is your wake-up call. Because TikTok might not be dead… but it’s also not something I’d build my entire business on.

What I Cover:

  • My honest take on “is TikTok dead?”
  • What’s really happening with the TikTok ban in the U.S.
  • Why TikTok still works—but feels more unpredictable than ever
  • The biggest mistake I see content creators making right now
  • Why relying on one platform is risky for your monetization
  • The difference between building on “rented land” vs. owned platforms
  • How I’d protect my business if TikTok disappeared tomorrow

Key Takeaways:

  • I don’t see TikTok as a home—I see it as a tool for growth
  • I don’t own my audience on social media (and neither do you)
  • If I want sustainable monetization, I need owned platforms
  • Every piece of content I post should lead somewhere deeper
  • Building a business > just being a content creator

Resources & Next Steps:

  • Start an email list (even if it feels early)
  • Create a simple lead magnet to turn followers into subscribers
  • Audit where your audience actually lives

Okay, creators… we need to talk about the most underrated growth tool you are absolutely sleeping on: your email list.

In this episode, I’m joined by the incredible Jessie (aka your travel blogging fairy godmother), and we are diving deep into newsletter for creators, email marketing, and exactly how to start a newsletter that actually grows your business.

Jessie has been in the game since 2011 (!!!) and has built a multi-offer, multi-platform empire—and spoiler alert: her email list is the backbone of it all.

We’re breaking down how to grow your newsletter, why your email list is more valuable than your followers, and how to turn subscribers into actual income (yes, even if you don’t have a product yet).

And if you’ve ever thought “I’ll start my email list later”… consider this your sign that later is now.

💡 What We Cover:

  • Why email marketing is the most stable and profitable platform you own
  • The biggest mistake creators make when starting an email list
  • How to start a newsletter (even if you’re overwhelmed or short on time)
  • The easiest way to send emails without creating more content (hello RSS hack)
  • Jessie’s highest-converting lead magnets (and why they work)
  • How to turn your newsletter for creators into a revenue stream
  • What to send after someone joins your list (welcome sequences made simple)
  • The perfect balance between nurturing vs. selling in your emails
  • How to use your email list to land brand deals + sponsorships
  • Why shorter emails = better results (yes, really)

If this episode lit a fire under you and you’re ready to finally start (or actually stay consistent with) your newsletter…

I’m hosting a live training on how to create a newsletter for creators that’s as easy as sending a text message 👀

111: Why Creating Content Won’t Take You to $5K Months (Here’s What Will)05 Mar 202600:14:46

👉 Come join me inside the Travel Creator Business Plan.

This is where we shift out of “go viral” energy and into real business strategy. See you inside.

Hate to break it to you.. If you think posting more is the thing that’s going to make you more money… I love you, but we need to talk.

In this episode, I’m breaking down why content creation is not your most important task — even if you’re building a content creator business.

Content is a lead generation tool. It’s not the whole business.

I walk you through the difference between creator thinking vs. business owner thinking, why going viral doesn’t automatically mean getting paid, and how to reverse engineer your revenue goals instead of obsessing over posting five times a week.

We’re talking about:

  • Why pitching, following up, and selling matter more than trending audio
  • How to build a real content strategy that supports income
  • The busy work you need to stop doing
  • The one task that will actually move the needle in your content business

You don’t need to post daily.
 You don’t need perfect content.
You don’t need to go viral.

You need to treat your travel creator business like a business.

Happy creating.
Or honestly… maybe don’t create this week. Repurpose instead.

If you’re a travel creator getting brand deals, posting consistently, and technically “making it”… why does it still feel unstable?

Because knowing how to create content and knowing how to run a content business are two completely different skills.

In this episode, I’m walking you through the 5 shifts that take you from just posting online to becoming a true full time content creator who gets paid to travel sustainably.

We cover:

  • Leveraging content instead of constantly creating
  • Moving from unpredictable brand deals to real revenue assets
  • Tracking your numbers and setting non-negotiable rates
  • Protecting your genius zone and managing your time
  • Building simple business systems that let you step into CEO mode

106: How to Create a Sustainable Travel Creator Business By Summer 29 Jan 202600:13:21

You didn’t become a travel creator to spend summer locked in a room editing reels while everyone else is actually traveling. And yet… here we are.

In this episode, I’m breaking down how to stop treating your travel content like a hobby and start running it like a real business — one that pays you, supports your lifestyle, and doesn’t rely on you posting 24/7 just to stay afloat.

If your goal is to be a paid to travel content creator (without burning out), this episode is your roadmap.

What We’re Talking About in This Episode

By the time summer hits, you don’t need more followers — you need systems, strategy, and sustainable income. In this episode, I walk you through what separates creators who get stuck from creators who actually build something long-term.

  • Why an email list is the most underrated asset in your content creator business
  • How to track your numbers (without overcomplicating it)

104: Passive Income That's Actually Passive for Content Creators15 Jan 202600:15:07

Everyone loves talking about passive income… but let’s be honest — most of what creators call “passive” is just another full-time job in disguise.

So today, we’re cutting through the bro-marketing fluff and having a real conversation about what passive income for content creators actually looks like — especially if you’re a travel creator who wants a business that works while you’re offline.

If sipping a margarita on a beach at 2pm on a random Tuesday sounds like the goal… this episode is for you.

What We’re Talking About in This Episode

In this episode, Laura breaks down:

  • What passive income is (and what it absolutely is not)
  • Why “just make a course” is terrible advice without strategy
  • The best passive income streams for travel creators
  • How to turn your content into long-term digital assets
  • The upfront work required — and why that’s actually a good thing

This is a must-listen for any content creator looking to build passive income through digital products, affiliate marketing, and automated systems — without burning out.

103: January Goals Are Failing Your Content Creator Business—Here’s Why 08 Jan 202600:10:33

What if I told you the fastest way to sabotage your content creator business… is setting New Year’s goals on January 1st?

Yep. I said it. This is one of my hottest takes—and 12 months later, I still stand by it.

In this rerun episode, I’m breaking down why January is actually the worst time for travel creators and content creators to set new goals, routines, or systems—and how waiting just a little longer can completely change your momentum, your mindset, and your long-term success.

If you’re a travel creator, juggling constant movement, post-trip slumps, family time, inbox overload, and way too many “new year, new you” messages… this episode is your permission slip to breathe.

In this episode, we talk about:

  • Why January goals set most content creators up for failure
  • The post-trip slump (and why ignoring it kills productivity)
  • How travel and the holidays drain your creative energy more than you think
  • Why “hitting the ground running” on January 1st is unrealistic for a content creator business
  • How to use January as a reset month instead of a pressure cooker
  • The real reason 80% of New Year’s goals fail by February
  • How to set smarter, more sustainable travel 2026 goals (yes, starting now—but executing later)

If this episode hit home:

  • DM me on Instagram and tell me—do you agree that January goals are BS?

Happy New Years Travel Creators!!! You made it through 2025 and to help welcome in 2026 I am sitting down with my podcast editor Marie from Your Girl Media to talk about the 10 lessons we learned in our businesses in 2025.

We are talking all things burnout, boundaries, branding, money, and why “doing it messy” might be your biggest advantage in 2026.

Whether you’re scaling your offers, rethinking travel, or trying to make your business feel easier (and more fun), these business lessons for 2025 will hit home.

🎧 What We Cover in This Episode

  • Why travel burnout is real (even when you’re living the dream)
  • The hidden cost of being a digital nomad for too long
  • Why doing what you actually want beats choosing the “smart” business move
  • How a single rebrand or identity shift can unlock momentum
  • Why “less but better” is the secret to scaling as a content creator
  • How attraction, energy, and fun play a bigger role than strategy alone
  • Why community is the future of creator businesses in 2025
  • The power of being in the right room (one networking event can change everything)
  • How client experience matters more than price
  • Why selling identity — not features — is the key to consistent sales
  • Why “doing it messy” can outperform perfection
  • The money systems every creator needs before they scale
  • Trusting that things can be easier (even when your brain wants control)

90: Lock in Q4 and Make the Most Money Possible in Your Content Business 09 Oct 202500:12:04

Q4 is HERE. This is your wake-up call to stop coasting and start cashing in. This not the time to just stuff our faces with halloween candy and sit back. We need to be stuffing our faces with halloween candy and cashing checks.

These next 90 days can make or break your year as a content creator, influencer, or UGC travel creator. Today, I’m breaking down exactly how to squeeze every last dollar out of 2025 while setting yourself up to make more money online in 2026 — without the hustle culture burnout.

In this episode, I walk you through my exact Q4 strategy — the one I’d use if I were starting over today as a travel creator:

  • Reignite those old brand collaborations. I’ll show you how to turn one-time deals into repeat partnerships — and why “no” isn’t really a no in Q4.
  •  Audit those unpaid invoices and finally collect that cash. You did the work — now get the reward.
  •  Stop waiting for January 1st to start fresh. I’ll share my mindset shift on why New Year goals are overrated and how to start implementing your 2026 strategy now.
  •  From client onboarding to pricing packages and payment setup — this is your chance to clean up the backend so you can scale smoothly into the new year.
  • I’ll walk you through my week-by-week roadmap to finish the year strong and build momentum for your next big income leap as a content creator.
  • Sign up for my newsletter, the Content Compass, the weekly newsletter for travel creators who are already landing brand deals and are ready to build the business behind their content.

89: Why Your Content Isn’t Selling (How to Get Out of the Bestie Zone)02 Oct 202500:47:54

Everyone loves your content… but no one’s buying? Yep, you’re trapped in the bestie zone.

Today we are digging into the real strategies behind standing out online and growing your content into a business. Today I’m joined (again!) by one of your all-time favorite guests, the queen of messaging herself — Lucy from My Write Hand Woman.

Lucy is a messaging strategist and copywriter who helps creators stop sounding like everyone else and start standing out with stories, personality, and messaging that sells. And in this episode? She’s here to call us all out.

We dive into:

  • How to know if you’re stuck in the “business bestie zone” (aka your content is fun but not converting).
  • Why being relatable isn’t enough to grow your content or land travel creator brand deals.
  • The importance of adding dissonance and a point of view in your sales copy and messaging.
  • Why 2025 is actually the easiest time to get attention online (hint: the bar is low).
  • The balance between behind-the-scenes content and strong storytelling that connects to your offers.
  • What the Nike Super Bowl “So Win” campaign can teach us about brand messaging.
  • Why you don’t need to wait until everything is perfect before launching something new.

Lucy is a breath of fresh air, giving us the reminder that content creation doesn’t have to be formulaic or over-polished. Sometimes, it’s the messy, human stories that move your business forward.
