Another Unnecessary List- Is Rock And Roll A Sound Or A Stance
Saison 10 · Épisode 2
jeudi 30 avril 2026 • Durée 01:32:35
The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame always finds a way to start a fight, and the 2026 class is no exception. We jump from concert posters and the closing of Gallery 1988 to a full-on debate about what the Hall is supposed to reward: sales, influence, longevity, cultural disruption, or some messy mix of all four.
We break down the 2026 Rock Hall inductees Phil Collins, Billy Idol, Iron Maiden, Joy Division/New Order, Oasis, Sade, Luther Vandross, and Wu-Tang Clan, then pull apart the logic behind the biggest headline: Mariah Carey getting left out again. We lay out the stats, talk through the “rock bias” that still shows up in voting, and ask why pop legends keep getting treated like side quests in a museum that claims to document music history. From there, we dig into influence as a real musical currency, from Iron Maiden’s blueprint for modern metal to Joy Division and New Order shaping alternative and electronic rock for decades.
The conversation widens to the definition of rock and roll itself, including hip hop’s place in the Hall and why Wu-Tang’s impact fits the original spirit of rebellion better than a narrow “guitars only” rule. We also get into the practical side of the ceremony: who can actually perform, why some years feel like catch-up years, and which artists we think the Hall keeps missing, especially Jeff Buckley. We wrap with what’s exciting right now, including a surge of women-fronted rock and a reminder that defining live moments like Nine Inch Nails at Coachella can be as historic as any induction.
If you’ve got a take, we want it. Subscribe, share this with the friend who always argues about the Rock Hall, and leave a review with who you think got snubbed most.

Let's Talk Vine(YL)- Pearl Jam Made Babies And Charities And Maybe Your CPR Playlist
Saison 10 · Épisode 1
vendredi 23 janvier 2026 • Durée 01:00:36
A city can change your ears. We sat down in Seattle and felt how tightly the scene is woven: musicians who become neighbors, venues that double as history lessons, and a band’s 35‑year arc that still bends toward community. Pearl Jam isn’t just posters in shop windows; it’s the reason for cross‑country moves, friendships forged in parking lots, and a thousand small charities that took root because the music said do more and the people actually did.
The night’s centerpiece is a room built for deep listening. At Shibuya Hi‑Fi, the lights dim, the door seals, and a needle turns Wish You Were Here into a brand‑new experience. Vintage gear, precise setup, and a no‑drink, no‑noise ritual invite you to hear string scrape, breath, and space you’ve missed for years. We talk about turning that focus into fuel for good: album sessions as fundraisers, rare‑tape dreams, and a Six Degrees tribute that connects Stax legends across time.
Wine runs through the conversation like a second soundtrack. A Syrah that honors a mentor and supports suicide prevention. A vineyard chosen on instinct days after Bowie’s passing. Why Syrah is a chameleon that speaks its place louder than most grapes. Along the way we chase joy in odd places—a 14‑mile city run, a detour into cast‑iron popcorn lore, a kid’s core memory meeting Jack White—and remember that the show is only three hours, but the life around it is where meaning sticks.
If you’re into Seattle music history, high‑fidelity listening, Pearl Jam’s lasting impact, or wines that tell a story, this one’s for you. Hit play, share it with a friend who loves records and late‑night venue tales, and leave a review to help more listeners find the show.

Another Unnecessary List - Behind the Music: Exploring the World's Most Influential Music Documentaries
Saison 9 · Épisode 6
mercredi 26 mars 2025 • Durée 01:45:36
Grab your headphones and settle in as we dissect Rolling Stone's controversial list of the Top 70 Music Documentaries of all time. What starts as a critical examination quickly transforms into a passionate debate about what truly makes a music documentary great.
The disconnect becomes apparent immediately: Is Rolling Stone's list actually about documentaries, or is it just another way to celebrate their favorite musicians? We unpack how concert films are fundamentally different from true music documentaries, yet Rolling Stone lumps them together without clear criteria. The result? A list that favors established names over genuine documentary excellence.
From Metallica's raw vulnerability in "Some Kind of Monster" to the manufactured mythology of "Montage of Heck," we analyze why some films reveal authentic truths while others reinforce carefully constructed images. When Bob Dylan's "Don't Look Back" takes the #1 spot, we ask the uncomfortable question: is this truly the pinnacle of music documentary filmmaking, or just Rolling Stone paying homage to their perennial favorite?
The conversation extends beyond critique as we share our own must-see music documentaries that offer genuine insight into artists, their creative processes, and the cultural moments they inhabited. From "Pearl Jam 20" to lesser-known gems like "Dennis and Lois" and "The Fearless Freaks," we champion films that balance musical performance with human storytelling.
Whether you're a documentary enthusiast or a music lover seeking deeper connections with your favorite artists, this episode will transform how you view the intersection of music and filmmaking. The greatest music documentaries transcend fandom—they should reveal something universal about creativity, human relationships, and the artistic struggle that resonates with any thoughtful viewer.
