Archiving with The Film Hound
Saison 2 · Épisode 21
mardi 24 octobre 2023 • Durée 01:12:09
The average life of a roll of film often ends as soon as the images are scanned into digital files and are discarded never to be handled by the photographer again. Heck, up until the last few years, Walgreens and CVS would develop your film and wouldn't even offer to return your negatives as it was seen as an unnecessary cost in handling.
Sadly, many film photographers are not informed or educated on the value of retaining their negatives. From the art of make traditional darkroom prints to the ability to rescan at higher resolutions, there are plenty of reason to hang onto these little bits of magical plastic.
Along comes The Film Hound, a small business run by Jonathon Kohn. Focused on the preservation of film, their goal is to help keep these rolls out of the landfill and instead, neatly tucked away in binders to live out the rest of their lives in a comfortable climate controlled binder until they are needed again.
