She Might Be Gaslighting You If She Says These 12 Things
mardi 22 septembre 2026 • Durée 18:45
Are you constantly questioning what you remember, apologizing just to end an argument, or wondering if you're actually the problem?
In this episode of The Narc-Free Man Podcast, Philip Dugas breaks down 12 common gaslighting phrases that can make you doubt your memory, feelings, and judgment—and explains what you can say instead of getting trapped in another circular argument.
You'll hear phrases like:
"That never happened."
"I never said that."
"You're remembering it wrong."
"You're too sensitive."
"You're overreacting."
"It was just a joke."
"You're crazy."
"Everyone agrees with me."
"You always twist my words."
"Look what you made me do."
"After everything I've done for you?"
"You're the one with the problem."
Philip explains what each phrase may be doing inside a repeated pattern of gaslighting, why responsible men can become vulnerable to constantly second-guessing themselves, and how to stop handing over your trust in your own memory and judgment.
You'll also learn practical ways to respond to gaslighting without getting dragged into an argument about your reality, plus four steps that can help you start getting clear about what's actually happening in your relationship.
One disagreement, forgotten conversation, or defensive moment doesn't automatically make someone a gaslighter. The key is the pattern—especially when the conversations repeatedly end with you being wrong, apologizing, confused, or questioning yourself.
If you've started rehearsing conversations before having them, checking her mood when you walk through the door, saving screenshots to prove what happened, walking on eggshells, or wondering whether you're actually the narcissist, this episode is for you.

Stop Explaining Yourself to a Narcissistic Wife: The Question That Changes Everything
mercredi 16 septembre 2026 • Durée 20:53
Do you constantly find yourself explaining yourself to your wife—only to have your words twisted, challenged, or turned into another argument?
You clarify what you meant. Then you explain your intentions. Then you defend your tone. Before you know it, the original issue has disappeared and you're defending your entire character.
If you're dealing with a narcissistic wife, gaslighting, blame shifting, emotional manipulation, or a high-conflict marriage, this episode of The Narc Free Man Podcast explores a question that could completely change the way you approach these conversations:
Why am I explaining myself to someone who seems committed to misunderstanding me?
One of the biggest mistakes men can make in an unhealthy relationship is assuming that every conflict is simply a communication problem.
In a healthy marriage, clarification should eventually create clarity. Two people may misunderstand each other, but both are interested in understanding, taking responsibility, and resolving the issue.
But what happens when every explanation creates another accusation?
You bring up something that hurt you, and suddenly you're defending yourself.
You address disrespect, and the conversation becomes about everything you've supposedly done wrong.
You try to clarify your intentions, and 30 minutes later you're debating something that happened years ago.
Eventually, you may begin believing that if you could just explain yourself better, the conflict would finally end.
In this episode, Philip explains why endless explanation is not the same thing as healthy communication—and why breaking that pattern can be an important step toward regaining your clarity, confidence, and peace.
In this episode, you'll learn: Why over-explaining can become a pattern in a toxic or high-conflict marriage How a simple disagreement can turn into an endless cycle of accusation and defense Why the original issue keeps disappearing during arguments The difference between healthy clarification and chronic over-explaining How gaslighting, blame shifting, and emotional manipulation can affect communication Why you may feel responsible for regulating your wife's emotions Why trying harder to be understood may actually keep you trapped in the argument How to stop defending accusations that don't deserve a defense How to bring the conversation back to the original issue Why saying less can sometimes be more powerful than explaining more How boundaries can remain valid even when someone disagrees with them Why peace doesn't always require the other person's agreement How to begin trusting your own judgment again
Why does a narcissistic wife struggle so much with accountability?
dimanche 13 septembre 2026 • Durée 18:29
If you are married to a woman with strong narcissistic traits, you may have noticed a frustrating pattern: you bring up something she said or did, but instead of getting a direct apology, the conversation turns into denial, blame-shifting, minimizing, justification, or an attack on you.
In this episode of the Narc Free Man Podcast, Phillip C. Dugas breaks down the 5 common ways a narcissistic wife may avoid accountability and why so many men end up apologizing for problems they did not create.
If you are dealing with a narcissistic wife, female narcissist, toxic marriage, gaslighting, emotional abuse, manipulation, DARVO, blame-shifting, or chronic conflict, this episode will help you recognize the pattern.
This Narc Free Man Podcast episode also covers how to protect your clarity, recognize manipulation, document patterns, strengthen boundaries, stop chasing apologies, and break the cycle of constant conflict.
This is not about diagnosing anyone with narcissistic personality disorder.
It is about recognizing repeated relationship patterns like:
Gaslighting Blame-shifting Silent treatment DARVO Victim-playing Emotional punishment Rewriting history One-sided apologies Chronic conflict without repair
Healthy relationships have conflict.
Unhealthy relationships have the same conflict over and over with no genuine repair.
If you are constantly apologizing just to restore peace, you may not actually have peace.
You may have learned how to surrender.
If you are dealing with a narcissistic wife and trying to understand what is happening in your marriage, this episode will help you see the pattern more clearly.

Life After Divorce: What Really Happens Month By Month (For Men)
vendredi 11 septembre 2026 • Durée 16:42
Life after divorce is harder than anyone warns you — and then something changes around month five that almost nobody talks about. In this video I walk you through all five stages, month by month, so you know exactly what's coming when it comes to healing from divorce..
Phillip C. Dugas breaks down the reality of divorce recovery for men month by month—from the shock and survival of the first few weeks, through the anger and loneliness of months two and three, to the moment the fog begins to lift and you finally start recognizing yourself again.
If you are separated, preparing for divorce, recently divorced, or trying to rebuild your life after a high-conflict marriage, this episode is designed to show you what may be ahead—and remind you that healing after divorce is rarely a straight line.
The first few months can feel brutal. Sleep may be disrupted. Your emotions may swing between grief, anger, relief, guilt, and loneliness. You may replay old conversations, question your decisions, or wonder whether leaving was a mistake.
But that does not necessarily mean you are going backward.
One of the most important ideas in this episode is this:
Don't judge your recovery by one bad day. Judge it by the direction of your life over time.
Phillip walks through the different stages many men experience after divorce: the survival stage of month one, the emotional crash that can happen in months two and three, the clarity that often begins emerging around months four through six, the rebuilding phase of months seven through twelve, and what life can begin to feel like once divorce is no longer the center of your identity.
For men divorcing a woman with strong narcissistic or high-conflict behaviors, the experience can be different. There may be attempts to pull you back into the relationship, sudden affection, hostility, legal conflict, manipulation involving the children, or continued attempts to provoke the same emotional reactions that worked during the marriage. This episode explains why maintaining boundaries, reducing unnecessary conflict, and using clear written communication can become especially important.
He Got Everything Men Want… Then Lost Himself | Vince Del Monte
mardi 8 septembre 2026 • Durée 57:36
What happens when a man gets everything he thought he wanted—money, success, status, a family, and the physique—but still loses himself?
In this episode of the Narc Free Man Podcast, Vince Del Monte opens up about the hidden cost of chasing success, the breakdown of his marriage, divorce, fatherhood, and the painful process of rebuilding his identity from the inside out.
Vince shares how becoming a successful entrepreneur and making millions initially felt like freedom. But underneath the achievement was something he couldn't see at the time: a need for approval, acceptance, significance, and validation.
The more he achieved, the more he wanted.
Eventually, his identity became attached to what he had, what he accomplished, and what other men thought of him.
Then his marriage fell apart.
Vince shares the moment he realized he couldn't simply fix his marriage or business—he had to confront himself. Through therapy, faith, grief, and honest self-examination, he began uncovering wounds and beliefs he had carried for decades.
In this conversation, we discuss:
• Why successful men can still feel like they're not enough • The hidden "success trap" many ambitious men fall into • Vince's experience with separation and divorce • What happens when a man's identity is built on achievement • The connection between rejection, approval, and male identity • Why unprocessed pain can follow men into marriage and business • Taking ownership instead of blaming your ex • What men should NOT do after separation or divorce • Why men need other men who will tell them the truth • Healing after divorce and rebuilding your life • Navigating divorce as a father • Protecting your relationship with your children after a breakup • Faith, surrender, forgiveness, and personal responsibility • How men can rebuild without allowing failure to define them
This isn't just a conversation about divorce.
What a Man Married to a Narcissistic Wife Carries
lundi 31 août 2026 • Durée 13:55
If you're living with a narcissistic wife, you may feel like you're carrying the entire weight of your marriage while constantly walking on eggshells.
You work. You provide. You take care of the kids. You try to keep the peace. But behind closed doors, you may also be dealing with silent treatment, false blame, gaslighting, emotional punishment, and the feeling that nothing you do is ever enough.
In this episode of The Narc-Free Man Podcast, Philip Dugas breaks down the invisible weight many men carry in a narcissistic marriage—and why it can leave you exhausted, isolated, and questioning your own reality.
You'll learn:
• The difference between normal marital conflict and a destructive pattern of control • Why walking on eggshells keeps you constantly on high alert • How silent treatment can become a form of punishment • How false blame and gaslighting can cause you to doubt yourself • Why some men become the "safe parent" for their children • What years without peace can do to your sense of identity • Four first steps toward seeing the situation clearly and getting support
If you've ever thought, "No one sees what I'm carrying," this conversation is for you.
You don't have to figure everything out today. But you can begin by seeing the pattern clearly, naming what's happening, finding someone safe to talk to, and rebuilding trust in yourself.

Why Good Men Keep Ending Up With Narcissistic Women: 7 Patterns Keeping You Stuck
vendredi 28 août 2026 • Durée 23:27
Why Good Men Keep Ending Up With Narcissistic Women
Different woman.
Different relationship.
Different circumstances.
But somehow you keep ending up with the same feeling: walking on eggshells, trying harder, fixing everything, apologizing to keep the peace, and wondering how you lost yourself again.
That may not simply be bad luck.
It may be a relationship pattern you learned long before you ever met her.
In this episode of The Narc Free Man Podcast, Phillip C. Dugas breaks down 7 patterns that can make good, responsible, successful men vulnerable to toxic relationships and narcissistic relationship dynamics.
You'll discover why some men unconsciously minimize unhealthy behavior, try to earn love through performance, take responsibility for a partner's emotions, abandon their boundaries, confuse emotional intensity with intimacy, become addicted to rescuing, and believe that being a strong man means enduring almost anything.
One of the biggest ideas in this episode:
Familiar does not mean healthy.
Sometimes the relationship feels strangely familiar because the emotional dynamic resembles something you learned to adapt to years ago.
And those adaptations may have once protected you.
Today, they may be keeping you stuck.
Phillip breaks down seven patterns:
You were taught to make unhealthy behavior smaller. You explain away criticism, emotional withdrawal, disrespect, or manipulation because minimizing conflict feels safer than confronting it. You learned that love had to be earned. When she becomes unhappy, your instinct is to work harder, provide more, communicate better, apologize more, and become the perfect husband.
Why Narcissists Refuse to Understand You
jeudi 20 août 2026 • Durée 10:00
If you want dating advice for men or if you feel like you're constantly explaining yourself to a female narcissist but your honesty is never truly heard, this video is for you. In a toxic relationship, communication can become exhausting, especially when your words, vulnerabilities, and personal struggles are twisted and used against you later.
In this episode, Phillip C. Dugas explores why narcissists may refuse to understand you, how emotional manipulation can cause you to lose your voice, and why trying harder to explain yourself may not solve the real problem.
You'll discover how your honesty can become weaponized in an unhealthy relationship, why you may eventually stop sharing how you really feel, and what you can do to begin finding your voice again.
Most importantly, consider this question:
"Why am I working this hard to be understood by someone who decided not to understand me?"
You don't need a diagnosis of Narcissistic Personality Disorder (NPD) to recognize unhealthy patterns and decide you need clarity and a plan.

7 Things You Should NEVER Say to a Female Narcissist
jeudi 20 août 2026 • Durée 12:16
There are seven sentences that make everything worse with a female narcissist. Most men say all seven before they figure it out. In this episode I go through each one — what she hears, what happens next, and exactly what to say instead.
The rule underneath all seven: never hand her something she can use.
7 THINGS YOU SHOULD NEVER SAY TO A FEMALE NARCISSIST
"You're a narcissist" "Calm down" "Remember when you said that?" "I'm sorry" (when you're not) "I've been unhappy for years" "I told someone about us" "I'm done. I'm leaving."
WE ALSO COVER:
• Why proof and receipts never win an argument with her • Why apologizing to end a fight makes the next one longer • What happens when you tell her you're unhappy • Why you should absolutely talk to people — just not announce it to her • Why announcing you're leaving hands her a head start • What to say instead of each one • Where your honesty was supposed to go all along
This is for any man married to or leaving a narcissistic wife or girlfriend, walking on eggshells at home, or trying to stop losing the same argument over and over. You're not bad at communicating. You're communicating with someone who uses it as material.
Which of the seven did you say? Tell me in the comments — I read every one.
If you're dealing with a narcissistic wife, gaslighting, blame shifting, emotional manipulation, or a toxic marriage where you constantly feel like you're defending yourself, Philip's book The Narcissistic Wife goes deeper into these relationship patterns and strategies for responding to them.

You'll also hear why loneliness can make men vulnerable to returning to an unhealthy relationship or jumping into a new relationship before they are ready.
Before dating again, ask yourself:
Am I looking for someone—or am I just trying not to be alone?
Those can feel like the same thing after divorce. They are not.
The goal of divorce recovery is not revenge.
It is not proving your ex wrong.
It is not becoming successful so she regrets losing you.
It is getting yourself back.
Your routines.
Your friendships.
Your confidence.
Your peace.
Your relationship with your children.
Your ability to look in the mirror and recognize the man looking back.
Phillip also shares three practical principles that can help men move through the rebuilding process: getting around other men who understand what you are experiencing, moving your body consistently so stress has somewhere productive to go, and finally stopping the exhausting attempt to make your ex understand or admit what she did wrong.
You do not need her agreement to know that something hurt you.
And you do not need closure from the person who created the confusion before you can start rebuilding your life.

But self-improvement becomes self-abandonment when you're using it to earn basic respect.
You became the fixer. Her anger becomes your problem. Her disappointment becomes your responsibility. Eventually, restoring her emotional stability becomes a full-time job. Boundaries feel selfish. You say no, she becomes upset, and five minutes later your no becomes a yes.
A boundary that disappears whenever someone becomes angry isn't much of a boundary.
Chaos feels like chemistry. Intense attraction, nonstop communication, emotional highs and lows, and instant connection can feel powerful.
But intensity is not intimacy.
Character reveals itself over time, especially when someone is disappointed, frustrated, challenged, or told no.
You need to be needed. Capable men are often problem-solvers.
That strength can become dangerous when your identity becomes tied to rescuing someone who refuses to take responsibility for herself.
You believe a strong man should endure everything.
This may be the most damaging rule of all.
Men are taught to push through, protect everyone, provide, fix problems, remain strong, and keep the family together.
But endurance without wisdom can become self-destruction.
Strength is not measured by how much suffering you can silently absorb.
Sometimes strength sounds like:
"No."
"This cannot continue."
"I need help."
Or:
"I will not lose myself trying to keep this relationship together."
The goal of this episode isn't to blame your childhood or obsess over diagnosing another person.
It's to recognize the patterns you can actually change.
Because once you understand the rules you've been unconsciously following, you can start writing new ones.
And the most important new rule is this:
I am responsible for the man I become from here.
Not responsible for changing her.
Not responsible for controlling her emotions.
Not responsible for convincing everyone else.
Responsible for your decisions, your standards, your health, your fatherhood, your friendships, your faith, your work, and your future.
