#155 What Staying in the US for One More Year Is Actually Costing You17 Feb 202600:22:07

Are you in the U.S. earning decent money, but somehow barely getting ahead? This episode breaks down the real financial (and beyond financial) costs of waiting to move abroad.

Today, we’ll cover:

  • The hidden cost of “someday:” how high rent, taxes, healthcare, and cars quietly drain your income.
  • How the same salary can go 2-3x further abroad and accelerate savings, debt payoff, and wealth.
  • Why it’s not just about money: it’s about time, energy, and quality of life.
  • The simple difference between people who move and people who keep researching.

Run the math. What is one more year actually costing you? If you’re ready to stop waiting, join us inside the Escape Plan Bootcamp from Feb 23–26 and start building your move.

#154 You Have 47 Tabs Open About Moving Abroad. Here's Why You Still Haven't Done It.11 Feb 202600:17:08

If you’ve been “researching” moving abroad for months (or years) and still haven’t made it happen, this episode is for you.

Spoiler: you don’t have a research problem. You have a decision problem. The over-research rabbit hole is a hiding place, and the first step out of the rabbit hole is clarity. Let’s get you to finally move from thinking to doing.

In this episode, we unpack:

  • The D.R.E.A.M. model
  • How research is your safety blanket. You’re not looking for more information, you’re looking for certainty and permission. Neither exists.
  • You’re asking the wrong questions. “What can I do?” leads to paralysis. “What do I actually want my life to look like?” leads to decisions.
  • The real fear isn’t lack of info — it’s making the wrong choice. But staying stuck costs more than learning from a few mistakes along the way.
  • Information doesn’t create confidence - plans do.
  • Not deciding is still a decision.

Ask yourself this: if years of research haven’t moved you yet, why would more research help you now? If you’re ready to stop thinking about moving abroad and actually do it, I’ll see you inside the Escape Plan Bootcamp.

#145 Meet Your 2026 Self: The Version of You Who’s Already Living Abroad and Thriving in Business16 Dec 202500:26:35

In this episode, I’m walking you through one of my favorite exercises from my recent retreat in Thailand — a guided visualization where you go meet the 2026 version of you who’s already living abroad, running a grounded and spacious business, and actually feeling the life you’ve been planning.

We’re stepping out of strategy mode and into identity. Because you can have all the plans in the world, but if you don’t believe you can hold the life you want… you’ll sabotage it without even realizing it.

Here’s what we do together in the episode:

• You’ll take a 5-minute guided visit to your future self — their home, their energy, their lifestyle, and the message they have for you right now.
 • We’ll unpack what came up (even if it felt random or surprising) and what it reveals about who you’re becoming.
 • And finally, we’ll get clear on one simple, brave action you can take today to close the gap between you and the 2026 version of you who’s already living this life abroad.

This is the perfect end-of-year moment to meet your future self — and start becoming them now, not someday.

#55 How to Balance Work and Travel as a Digital Nomad 30 Apr 202400:42:33

In this episode, we're diving deep into the realities of balancing work and travel as a digital nomad. I'll be sharing my personal journey and the insights I've gathered over years of traveling the world as a digital nomad to help you enjoy your travel lifestyle without constant work stress or FOMO.

Finding the right balance between work and travel is key. How do you explore the world and move every few months (or weeks) while also getting your work done?  We'll explore the concept of being a 'slowmad' - staying in each location for a few months to allow for a deeper work-life balance. We'll also dive into the importance of managing expectations and FOMO, trusting that your future self can revisit destinations and experiences.

Tune in to discover how to make the most out of your digital nomad lifestyle while staying productive and growing your career.

Happy travels and productive work sessions, my friend!

#54 Choose Your Hard: Navigating the Discomfort You Know vs. the Discomfort You Don’t Know22 Apr 202400:21:53

Let's be real: moving abroad is hard.
But here's the thing - so is staying exactly where you are right now.

In today's episode, we're diving deep into a crucial mindset shift: the concept of "choosing your hard".

Is your comfort zone actually all that comfortable? Is your life right now really all that 'easy'?

Personally, I'd rather put in a little hard work now to create the life I want, and get a little uncomfortable to have a life that's aligned to me.

Ready to embrace the challenge and rewrite your narrative? Let's do this.

#53 STOP Being So Afraid of Freelancing: Here’s Why Freelancing is the Perfect Move Abroad Career17 Apr 202401:09:51

Now, let's bust some myths, shall we? Freelancing isn't just about working in your pajamas (although that's definitely a perk). It's about freedom—the freedom to choose where you work, when you work, and who you work with.

Hey, I get it. Stepping into the world of freelancing can be scary. The fear of the unknown, the uncertainty of where your next paycheck will come from—it's enough to make you run right back to that 9-5.

But here's the thing: freelancing can actually be MORE stable than a full-time job, AND you'll land clients and get money in the door faster than if you follow the traditional job application process.

Drawing from my own journey as a freelancer, I'll share why I traded in the traditional 9-to-5 grind for the freedom of freelancing, and give you some insider tips on how to ensure you set yourself up for success so you can get paid well and avoid the starving artist stereotype.

So whether you're considering freelancing as a side hustle or diving headfirst into full-time freelancing, tune in for some invaluable insights and tips to kickstart your freelancing journey. After all, the world is your oyster, and freelancing might just be the key to unlocking your dream life of freedom and flexibility.

#52 Ask a Move Abroad Coach: Should I Travel For a Year With My Kids Before I Pick a Place? 09 Apr 202400:55:25

It's time for another coaching podcast!

This time I'm bringing on Shannon Converse for a deep dive into the world of decision-making and finding balance as a digital nomad parent. Shannon is a member of the Move Abroad Crash Course, and after seeing her latest question in the Crash Course Facebook Group, I knew I needed to bring her in.

Shannon's at a crossroads, pondering whether to plant roots in one place overseas or take her family on a whirlwind adventure as digital nomads. With three kids in tow, she's seeking that delicate balance between consistent community and the freedom to travel anywhere anytime.

In this conversation, not only did we dive into which option is best for Shannon and her family, but we also got deep about prioritizing our own happiness and fulfillment as parents so we can better show up for our kids.

From fears over picking the "right" country, to travel FOMO, and anxiety over whether this lifestyle is good for kids, we cover a lot in this episode!

So grab a seat and tune in as we unravel the complexities of balancing family life, wanderlust, and the pursuit of happiness.

PS - Don't forget to hit that share button and spread the love to all your fellow nomadic souls out there! (Especially moms with kids who want to embark on the move)

In today's episode, I'm spilling the beans on my exciting plans for the year ahead—running my business from not one, not two, but FIVE different countries!

Yep, you heard that right. From the bustling streets of Thailand to the sunny shores of Australia, a week in Japan, and some family time in the US, I'm gearing up for some epic adventures across the globe.

But let's be real—balancing work and travel across multiple time zones isn't always a walk in the park. I'll be sharing my top tips and tricks for staying productive and organized while jet-setting around the world.

And as if that weren't enough of an adventure, I'll also be navigating the wild world of travel with a little one in tow. This is my first time on a plane with Ava and... we're leaving for four months!

But hey, amidst all the chaos and excitement, there's one thing I'm sure of: the freedom and flexibility that comes with running your own business. Being able to work from anywhere is truly a game-changer, and I wouldn't have it any other way.

#48 Ask a Move Abroad Coach: Finding Confidence to Leave Your Job, Start a Business, AND Move Abroad12 Mar 202400:47:52

In this week's episode, I decided to try something new: live coaching on the podcast! (I am the Move Abroad Coach after all).

For our very first live coaching episode, I brought in Mary Morgan from our Freedom Life Accelerator program.

Mary has big dreams of launching her own business and making the leap to Europe, but she's looking for that extra boost of confidence to bid farewell to her stable 9-5 gig and embrace the risks of entrepreneurship.

As her coach, I walked Mary through the fears that are coming up for her around risk. Together, we dove deep into her past experiences to unearth the roots of her fears and chart a course toward launching her dream business.

We didn't shy away from discussing loss and grief— Our conversation touched on the paralyzing fear of losing everything and the pivotal importance of overcoming it to truly live a life of fulfillment.

Here are some key takeaways from our heartfelt discussion:

  • Moving abroad isn't just about changing locations; it's about creating a life that's aligned to you
  • Establishing an LLC can offer peace of mind, providing a protective shield for your business and personal assets.
  • Sometimes we're more afraid of success than we are of failure because we have more to lose

I hope you enjoy this episode as much as I do, and a HUGE thank you to Mary for allowing herself to be vulnerable with us.

Ever find yourself on the brink of making the big leap abroad, only to be stopped in your tracks by a voice inside your head? That voice that whispers, "What if this is all a huge mistake?" or "What if I can't make it work and everything falls apart?"

Today we're diving deep into the fears and self-doubt that can sabotage your dreams of moving abroad. It's time for some real talk about getting out of your own way.

#144 The Holiday Reset: Why December Is the Best Time to Reinvent Your Business (and Your Life Abroad)09 Dec 202500:36:56

In this episode I dive into why December is the most powerful month to pause, reassess, and reset your business and lifestyle goals—especially if you’re dreaming of moving abroad or stepping into a more spacious way of working.

I’m breaking down my own whirlwind year: nearly hitting seven figures, moving countries, traveling with a toddler, restructuring my team and navigating functional burnout. On paper everything looked incredible, but behind the scenes it forced a complete recalibration of how I lead, work, and live.

You'll hear:
 – The truth behind rapid growth, burnout, and why I wouldn’t repeat 2025
 – How leadership shifts, delegation, and new structure rebuilt my business
 – Why December’s quiet exposes misalignment and creates space for clarity
 – What to leave behind this year and how to identify the wins that matter
 – A practical audit to align your business with the lifestyle you want abroad

This episode gives you the clarity and direction to close the year strong and step into 2026 with a plan for your life that finally feels aligned.

#143 Why I Walked Away From Two Big Goals This Year 02 Dec 202500:31:45

As we head into December, many of us look back at our goals and judge ourselves by what we achieved or didn’t achieve. But this year, I experienced something different — and honestly, far more transformative: choosing to let go of goals I knew I could hit.

In this episode, I’m sharing the two big goals I consciously walked away from in 2025, why it was so hard, and how releasing them created more clarity, alignment, and expansion in my life and business.

From shifting identities to protecting my energy, to recognizing when a goal belongs to a past version of you, this conversation is an invitation to redefine what “success” looks like.

What I share:

  • Why I believe goal-setting should evolve as you evolve
  • The difference between falling short and walking away with intention
  • How I recognized when a goal no longer fit the current version of me
  • What happened when I pressed pause on a dream that was within reach
  • How letting go can sometimes create more growth than pushing through

Sometimes the bravest thing you can do is change direction when you’re already halfway there.

You can myth bust by sharing stats and facts with those close to you, so join me in today’s episode! While 6 months or 1 year may feel like “forever” away, your move date is coming faster than you realize and that's when the stress and overwhelm kick in.

#33 How to Visualize and Manifest Your Move Abroad 05 Dec 202300:34:54

Hi everyone and welcome back to The Move Abroad Coach Podcast. On episode 33 of the podcast, I am breaking the stigma and fear that *may* be associated with manifestation and showing YOU exactly why you should be doing this as well as HOW to do this. Give it a chance before you judge this book by its cover — there is science that backs how implementing these thoughts and doing the work can lead you where you want to be.

You may be thinking that you are not ready or may not know exactly everything that you want quite yet, and that is okay. The first step is to literally just start — take the first leap by opening your mind to this practice and watch where it can lead you! So, what are you waiting for? In this episode I am showing you exactly how and what to do, I have a little challenge for you to assist in motivating you, as well as sharing my meditation that helps realign what I want in life. So join me and listen to today’s episode!

Here's what we talk about in today's episode:

  • Taking the time to close your eyes and visualize what it is you want
  • By doing this action step, you are more likely to make this happen!
  • The Challenge — try this meditation every single day for a week! Yes, you read that right.
  • The Meditation — We begin at 19:05, join me!
  • Did you meditate? How do you feel? What did you see? Let me know by DM’ing me on IG!

We quite literally never do sales like this, so if you’re looking for a Black Friday deal reminiscent of the 90s, this is it.

Hi everyone! On episode 32 of The Move Abroad Podcast, I am asking you the hard questions…WHY do you need more than a year to plan your actual move to another country?! You might think you need more than a year, but I am here to tell you that you actually don’t need that long.

The reality is — anything longer than a year is NOT a goal…it is a vision, and I want you to know and understand the difference. A goal is something short-term, something you are working on implementing in the NOW. A vision is something that you are just imagining and are not quite exactly putting the work into making happen. It is important to know that if you want to see a change, you must quit with the excuses and make it a priority now! Join me as I dive into this further on today’s episode.

Here's what we talk about in today's episode:

  • There is no perfect time and there never is going to be a perfect time
  • The reality is, you could move abroad and work freelance or remote in just 2 months!
  • You say you will move in 2 years, but what can you ACTUALLY do to get started?
  • If you take TOO much time to “plan for the move”, you won’t do it.

#30 My Experience Giving Birth Abroad (The Good the Bad and the Money) 14 Nov 202301:20:12

I am so glad you are here and welcome back to The Move Abroad Coach Podcast. On episode 30 of today’s podcast, I am sharing the details of my birthing experience. In this episode, you will learn what I loved the most, what I did NOT like, and some personal opinions on giving birth abroad.

Overall I do not regret it and am happy with the care level we all received during the labor and delivery. I am also excited to share what exactly everything ended up costing in the end (a nice surprise, too) and how it compares to the US healthcare system as well as the details of insurance coverage vs. no insurance coverage.

Here's what we talk about in today's episode:

  • Noticeable cultural differences with giving birth abroad — were they good or bad?!
  • The Plan vs. The Reality of the Situation
  • Chris was almost NOT allowed in the delivery room and we freaked out!

#29 Let’s Make Sure You Love It: How to Plan an International Scouting Trip 07 Nov 202300:31:32

Hi everyone! On episode 29 of The Move Abroad Podcast, I am talking about something that you may have thought about but are unsure if you should do it. You are at the point of deciding to move, but now you are curious if you should take a scouting trip...and I say go for it! Of course, you can watch YouTube videos, read up on blogs, and join social media groups, but if you can swing it, I think it is very smart to explore the new city and country that you are moving to or even considering.

Consider how your everyday life would look like in the new city. Now actually do those things. The tourist activities can wait — it is time to actually figure out if you can adjust to that way of living. What are your non-negotiables? What about things you would be flexible on? There is so much to consider.

REMEMBER — you do NOT  have to do a scouting trip, but they are awesome!

Here's what we talk about in today's episode:

  • You visit a country you thought you would love, but you hate it. That's okay! Move on to the next.
  • Is a scouting trip absolutely necessary? No, but it is a great way to get your feet wet before making this huge decision. Perhaps entertain the idea.
  • Do you get a good vibe or happy energy from your city of interest? Really sit on that.
  • Make sure to talk to the locals and ask questions. Really make sure you are getting to know the area that you will be living in.

#28 Is Living Abroad Safe??! 31 Oct 202300:36:45

Hi everyone and welcome back to The Move Abroad Podcast! Today is episode 28 of the Podcast, and it is our spooky Halloween special — I am talking about something that comes up more often than not. It can feel super scary and is one of the most common questions….safety while living abroad. Is it actually safe to live abroad? What is the difference from living solo vs. solo female travel safety?

From China, Tanzania. Mexico, Georgia, and even the USA, there are certain safety measures we all should of course consider (i.e. pick pocketers, etc). However, it is unfair to think that just because someone moves abroad, especially a woman, should consider it “unsafe” to live in that country. Listen now and you may be shocked by what you learn!

Here's what we talk about in today's episode:

  • The concerns about me moving abroad and traveling solo, especially as a woman
  • I actually felt MORE safe in China!
  • What is the difference if I live solo vs. travel solo?
  • You may be SHOCKED to learn which country has been the most unsafe that I lived in!
  • Living abroad and traveling can actually be more safe!

Happy Halloween and I’ll see you next week, where we’re going to talk about something NOT political and intense!

#27 How to Vote and Stay Politically Active When You Live Abroad 24 Oct 202300:20:17

On episode 27 of the Move Abroad Coach Podcast, I want to talk to you about staying involved in the politics of your home country and how you can even vote while living abroad. Yes, you read that right! I am going to share with you how to make this happen and even if you decide not to vote, you can still support your country from afar by doing a handful of things.

From protesting, contributing to particular campaigns, or even spending your time volunteering for various organizations, there are ways to show your support while living in another country. So what are you waiting for?! Listen now!

Here's what we talk about in today's episode:

  • How do I vote if I am not physically in my home country?
  • I don’t want to vote, but I do want to show my support. What can I do to help?
  • Can I actually move away and still be active in another countries politics?
  • Share your differing experiences with your friends and family so they understand.

#26 The 5 Biggest Ways We Self-Sabotage When it Comes to Moving Abroad 17 Oct 202300:25:28

On episode 26 of the Move Abroad Coach Podcast, I am talking about self-sabotage and how as humans, we love to get in the way of our own dreams. It’s almost like we just cannot help it! It comes down to wanting to do something big, but then we get cold feet and revert to self-sabotage and undermining the decision that we once were so excited about.

In this episode, I am jumping into why we do this and how to navigate back to the excitement for this big leap in your life. You should be surrounding yourself with people who love and support you, so how do you find your way back to those people?! Listen now!

Here's what we talk about in today's episode:

  • Wait until the “perfect” time to move abroad (retired, too busy, or things “settle down”)
  • Confiding in people who would never do this, don’t support you, or don’t “get it”
  • You isolate yourself from people who are going through this, who could actually be a big help
  • Searching for jobs at home, while still searching for jobs abroad. Why?!
  • You’ve gotten hung up on a “roadblock”, yet are not seeking the resources to get through that

#142 Moving to a French Fairytale Town… With a 90-Pound German Shepherd: Carissa’s Story25 Nov 202501:28:04

In today’s episode, I’m joined by Freedom Life Experience Alunni Carissa, who recently moved to a tiny French town straight out of Beauty and the Beast… with her very large German Shepherd.

If you’ve ever wondered what it’s really like to move abroad with a big dog: the paperwork, the flights, the kennels, the trains, the vet visits, the housing search, all of it — this is your episode.

Carissa shares:

• How she found her dream town in the Alsace region (and why Strasbourg wasn’t the vibe)
• What it’s actually like to fly internationally with a large dog under the plane
• The unexpected vet issues, paperwork drama, airport chaos, and train challenges
• How her dog helped her integrate and get to know her new community
• Why vibes matter more than checklists when scouting a country
• The reality of finding housing in France when you have a big dog
• What made her go from “Maybe I’ll move abroad in 5 years” to “I’m doing this THIS Fall”

This episode is part fairytale, part logistical saga, and part empowering reminder that you can build the life you want — even if you’re moving overseas with a giant dog in a muzzle who hates escalators.

Carissa proves that with flexibility, resilience, and the right support, your dream life abroad is absolutely possible.

#24 The Comfort Zone is Where Dreams Go to Die: How to Push Yourself Outside of What’s Comfortable 03 Oct 202300:16:38

Humans aren’t wired to be happy, we are wired to be comfortable. Read that again, friends. On episode 24 of the Move Abroad Coach Podcast, I am talking all about the comfort zone and what is actually holding you back from making that next big move in your life vs. what you think is holding you back. I know this sounds silly, but sometimes we are the ones who talk ourselves out of what we want to do the most.

As humans, we are all most settled in the comfort of what we know and are familiar with, but are you actually happy with that? Comfort is nice, but how excited are you for what is going on in your life? If you find yourself with the desire to make a change, don’t let anyone talk you out of that. I have some techniques and suggestions for you on today’s episode about ways you can get through this fear. What are you waiting for? Listen in now!

Yeah, I thought so.

But here's the thing, whenever I ask HOW MUCH money you need saved in order to move... most people don't know the answer.

So in this episode, I'm going to myth bust the idea that you need a ton of money saved in order to move abroad AND I'm going to show you how to figure out EXACTLY how much money you need to make the move.

Let's stop stressing over not having "enough" money and have a real number based on facts and research to work towards.
