#155 What Staying in the US for One More Year Is Actually Costing You

mardi 17 février 2026Durée 22:07

Are you in the U.S. earning decent money, but somehow barely getting ahead? This episode breaks down the real financial (and beyond financial) costs of waiting to move abroad.

Today, we’ll cover:

  • The hidden cost of “someday:” how high rent, taxes, healthcare, and cars quietly drain your income.
  • How the same salary can go 2-3x further abroad and accelerate savings, debt payoff, and wealth.
  • Why it’s not just about money: it’s about time, energy, and quality of life.
  • The simple difference between people who move and people who keep researching.

Run the math. What is one more year actually costing you? If you’re ready to stop waiting, join us inside the Escape Plan Bootcamp from Feb 23–26 and start building your move.

Épisode 154

mercredi 11 février 2026Durée 17:08

If you’ve been “researching” moving abroad for months (or years) and still haven’t made it happen, this episode is for you.

Spoiler: you don’t have a research problem. You have a decision problem. The over-research rabbit hole is a hiding place, and the first step out of the rabbit hole is clarity. Let’s get you to finally move from thinking to doing.

In this episode, we unpack:

  • The D.R.E.A.M. model
  • How research is your safety blanket. You’re not looking for more information, you’re looking for certainty and permission. Neither exists.
  • You’re asking the wrong questions. “What can I do?” leads to paralysis. “What do I actually want my life to look like?” leads to decisions.
  • The real fear isn’t lack of info — it’s making the wrong choice. But staying stuck costs more than learning from a few mistakes along the way.
  • Information doesn’t create confidence - plans do.
  • Not deciding is still a decision.

Ask yourself this: if years of research haven’t moved you yet, why would more research help you now? If you’re ready to stop thinking about moving abroad and actually do it, I’ll see you inside the Escape Plan Bootcamp.

#145 Meet Your 2026 Self: The Version of You Who’s Already Living Abroad and Thriving in Business

Saison 1 · Épisode 145

mardi 16 décembre 2025Durée 26:35

In this episode, I’m walking you through one of my favorite exercises from my recent retreat in Thailand — a guided visualization where you go meet the 2026 version of you who’s already living abroad, running a grounded and spacious business, and actually feeling the life you’ve been planning.

We’re stepping out of strategy mode and into identity. Because you can have all the plans in the world, but if you don’t believe you can hold the life you want… you’ll sabotage it without even realizing it.

Here’s what we do together in the episode:

• You’ll take a 5-minute guided visit to your future self — their home, their energy, their lifestyle, and the message they have for you right now.
 • We’ll unpack what came up (even if it felt random or surprising) and what it reveals about who you’re becoming.
 • And finally, we’ll get clear on one simple, brave action you can take today to close the gap between you and the 2026 version of you who’s already living this life abroad.

This is the perfect end-of-year moment to meet your future self — and start becoming them now, not someday.

#55 How to Balance Work and Travel as a Digital Nomad

Saison 1 · Épisode 55

mardi 30 avril 2024Durée 42:33

In this episode, we're diving deep into the realities of balancing work and travel as a digital nomad. I'll be sharing my personal journey and the insights I've gathered over years of traveling the world as a digital nomad to help you enjoy your travel lifestyle without constant work stress or FOMO.

Finding the right balance between work and travel is key. How do you explore the world and move every few months (or weeks) while also getting your work done?  We'll explore the concept of being a 'slowmad' - staying in each location for a few months to allow for a deeper work-life balance. We'll also dive into the importance of managing expectations and FOMO, trusting that your future self can revisit destinations and experiences.

Tune in to discover how to make the most out of your digital nomad lifestyle while staying productive and growing your career.

Happy travels and productive work sessions, my friend!

#54 Choose Your Hard: Navigating the Discomfort You Know vs. the Discomfort You Don’t Know

lundi 22 avril 2024Durée 21:53

Let's be real: moving abroad is hard.
But here's the thing - so is staying exactly where you are right now.

In today's episode, we're diving deep into a crucial mindset shift: the concept of "choosing your hard".

Is your comfort zone actually all that comfortable? Is your life right now really all that 'easy'?

Personally, I'd rather put in a little hard work now to create the life I want, and get a little uncomfortable to have a life that's aligned to me.

Ready to embrace the challenge and rewrite your narrative? Let's do this.

#53 STOP Being So Afraid of Freelancing: Here’s Why Freelancing is the Perfect Move Abroad Career

Saison 1 · Épisode 53

mercredi 17 avril 2024Durée 01:09:51

Now, let's bust some myths, shall we? Freelancing isn't just about working in your pajamas (although that's definitely a perk). It's about freedom—the freedom to choose where you work, when you work, and who you work with.

Hey, I get it. Stepping into the world of freelancing can be scary. The fear of the unknown, the uncertainty of where your next paycheck will come from—it's enough to make you run right back to that 9-5.

But here's the thing: freelancing can actually be MORE stable than a full-time job, AND you'll land clients and get money in the door faster than if you follow the traditional job application process.

Drawing from my own journey as a freelancer, I'll share why I traded in the traditional 9-to-5 grind for the freedom of freelancing, and give you some insider tips on how to ensure you set yourself up for success so you can get paid well and avoid the starving artist stereotype.

So whether you're considering freelancing as a side hustle or diving headfirst into full-time freelancing, tune in for some invaluable insights and tips to kickstart your freelancing journey. After all, the world is your oyster, and freelancing might just be the key to unlocking your dream life of freedom and flexibility.

#52 Ask a Move Abroad Coach: Should I Travel For a Year With My Kids Before I Pick a Place?

Saison 1 · Épisode 52

mardi 9 avril 2024Durée 55:25

It's time for another coaching podcast!

This time I'm bringing on Shannon Converse for a deep dive into the world of decision-making and finding balance as a digital nomad parent. Shannon is a member of the Move Abroad Crash Course, and after seeing her latest question in the Crash Course Facebook Group, I knew I needed to bring her in.

Shannon's at a crossroads, pondering whether to plant roots in one place overseas or take her family on a whirlwind adventure as digital nomads. With three kids in tow, she's seeking that delicate balance between consistent community and the freedom to travel anywhere anytime.

In this conversation, not only did we dive into which option is best for Shannon and her family, but we also got deep about prioritizing our own happiness and fulfillment as parents so we can better show up for our kids.

From fears over picking the "right" country, to travel FOMO, and anxiety over whether this lifestyle is good for kids, we cover a lot in this episode!

So grab a seat and tune in as we unravel the complexities of balancing family life, wanderlust, and the pursuit of happiness.

PS - Don't forget to hit that share button and spread the love to all your fellow nomadic souls out there! (Especially moms with kids who want to embark on the move)
