172: Dying To Be Good with the Host of the Emotionally Uncomfortable Podcast, Heather Chauvin
jeudi 3 octobre 2024 • Durée 55:54
Are you someone who always pours into others before you take care of yourself? You make sure the kids, spouse, employees, friends and pets all have what they need before you take care of your own needs. If this sounds like you, you might be dying to be good. This was the story of this week's guest, Heather Chauvin, who after a stage 4 cancer diagnosis in her twenties was pushed to take a deeper stand for change, uncovering how cultural expectations sabotage our dreams.
In this episode of The Money Love Podcast Paige is talking to leadership coach, Heather Chauvin. As a women’s leadership coach, TEDx speaker, host of the Emotionally Uncomfortable podcast, and author of the book ‘Dying to Be A Good Mother,’ Heather Chauvin empowers ambitious, overwhelmed women to courageously break free from their fears and authentically live, work, and parent on their own terms. Heather and Paige talk about why we women are programmed to be "good" and how it's harming you, what it means to be emotioanlly uncomfortable (and the harms that occur when you're not), and dive into Heathers strategy around time management (what she calls energetic time management). All of Heathers information can be found below. Enjoy!

What do you fear and how is your fear keeping you from reaching your highest potential? Fear of failure? Fear of rejection? Fear of abandonment? Fear of other people's opinions? Fear is one of our most primitive (and in actual danger) helpful emotions. It is woven into our DNA to protect us, keep us safe, and ensure our survival. However, most fear that we experience in the modern world is unproductive fear that keeps us from acheiving the things we are meant to accomplish. Are you someoe who runs away from your fears or faces them head on?
In this week's epsidoe of The Money Love Podcast, Paige is speaking with fear expert and the Founder of The School of Becoming, Tracy Litt on how to face your fear. Tracy is known for her popular TedTalk "Dear Fear: It's Not You, It's Me" and together Paige and Tracy dive into the complicated emotion of fear. They break down the biological origin of fear, the difference between helpful and unhelpful fear, other things that might be masking your fear, and how to face your fear head on. This is a conversation that you won't want to miss, and mae sure to check out all of Tracy's information below. Enjoy!

162: The Dangers of Credit Card Debt (and a tool that can help) with the CEO of Sequin, Vrinda Gupta
jeudi 8 août 2024 • Durée 01:11:51
Have you gotten yourself into financial trouble in the past becuase of over extending yourself using a credit card? If you have, you're not alone. Knowing how to use credit cards as a beneficial tool is a game (that many of us are never taught), and each of us needs to determine if we know the rules to the credit card game and if we feel like we can follow the rules well to win the game. For some people, credit cards (when used well) can be an amazing tool to build credit and score cash back, miles, travel perks, and purchase protection. For others, credit cards are more of a temptation and cause more financial damage than any perks are worth.
In this week's episode of The Money Love Podcast I'm diving into the deep underbelly of the credit card industry with former VISA employee turned Sequin CEO, Vrinda Gupta. Vrinda had her financial "wake up moment" when she was denied from the credit card that she helped build. She then set out on her own to create Sequin, the first of it's kind debit card designed to earn women up to 6% cashback on self-care (think gyms, beauty stores, drug stores, and more) without perpetuating a cycle of credit card debt. Most credit cards earn rewards, but can get you in a cycle of high-interest credit card debt. Debit cards, while they keep you in budget, do not typically earn rewards. Sequin is the best of the both worlds, and earns you cashback -- on a debit card! This is your own money, so you can stick with a budget without sacrificing cashback rewards. Best of all, it's founded by women, for women and you will receive a custom credit card debt payoff plan to manage credit while earning cashback. There's no monthly fees, overdrafts, or minimums, and your checking account will earn high interest.
In this conversation Paige and Vrinda talk about secrets the credit card companies don't want you to know, how credit cards are designed to keep you overspending, why it can be so tricky to get out of credit card debt once you're in it, and diving into Sequin, the debit card that Vrinda created to help women combat credit card debt for good.

72: Your Spending Self-Concept
mardi 22 février 2022 • Durée 33:10
What do you believe to be true about you? The thoughts that you think about yourself are the most important thoughts you think because they form your self-concept. Our self-concept feeds how confident, worthy, and capable we feel when it comes to managing our money at the highest level and it’s constantly either working for you or against you. The truth is, you are a self-fulfilling prophecy. The thoughts that you think about yourself will come true through the way we are designed as human beings. Whatever you think about, you will bring about. This is why your self-concept when it comes to your finances and your spending is so important. It is the beginning and end of every financial result you create.
In this episode of The Money Love Podcast we’re talking about one of the most underappreciated yet most impactful thought work concepts there is, your self-concept. In this episode, we explore what your spending self-concept is, the most common self-concept of overspenders, why your self-concept matters, how it always ends up proving itself true, and how to form a positive self-concept that serves you in creating the financial results you desire. This episode will show you the importance of the thoughts you think about the most important person in your world, yourself. Enjoy!

71: The Spending Shame Cycle
mardi 15 février 2022 • Durée 41:08
Have you ever felt ashamed over a past money decision you’ve made? Maybe you bought an item impulsively, you spent money you didn’t have resulting in debt, or you bought an item you didn’t get any use out of. If you’ve felt shame about your past spending choices you’re not alone. Shame is a deep-rooted and prevalent emotion that keeps us trapped in secrecy and judgment and if not dealt with properly keeps us from reaching our full financial potential.
In this episode of The Money Love Podcast we’re talking about a concept I call the spending shame cycle that keeps us stuck financially and repeating practiced spending behaviors that don’t serve us in the long run. We explore the areas of our finances where shame is most prevalent, the difference between shame and guilt, where shame comes from, the four phases of the spending shame cycle, why it’s so difficult for us to break out of and the process we can go through to lessen the grip that shame has within our finances and over our life. If shame is an emotion you feel is prevalent within your relationship with money this episode is one that will be an absolute game-changer. Enjoy!

70: Money Well Spent
mardi 8 février 2022 • Durée 35:51
What’s the best money you’ve ever spent? A time when you spent your money on an item, service, or experience where you felt good spending the money in the moment and you still felt amazing about the purchase a week, month, or year later? This is what I call "money well spent". Money that is spent where the value or result that you get from what you bought is more valuable to you than the money that you spent to acquire it. My ultimate goal is to help you align your spending so that most, if not all, of the money that you spend is money well spent.
This week on The Money Love Podcast we’re diving into four ways that you can spend your money that are scientifically proven to boost your happiness and satisfaction levels. These “money well spent” categories work because they touch on core needs and desires that we have as human beings like self-love and connection with others. If you want to feel happier, your money is a tool that can deliver that happiness to you. This will be an episode you don’t want to miss. Enjoy!

69: Consumer Culture Is Lying To You
mardi 1 février 2022 • Durée 35:18
You’re being lied to. Every day, each of us consumes false messages from consumer culture that are fundamentally untrue. These messages have one goal and objective, which is to get you to spend your money on things that you don’t really need in order to create an emotional state you deeply desire. The lies of consumer culture are everywhere, and they run deep in our programming in how we think about money and ultimately, the purchasing decisions that we make.
In this week’s episode of The Money Love Podcast, we are diving into the lies of consumer culture. We explore three primary beliefs and foundational principles that consumer culture wants you to believe and adopt, ultimately so that you will spend more money and acquire more things in accordance with their agenda instead of your own. This episode will be one that will open your eyes and increase your awareness of your environment so that you can gain back control, and spend your money in a way that reflects your unique values and pursuits instead of the values and agenda of consumer culture. Enjoy!

68: Finding Balance With Your Money
mardi 18 janvier 2022 • Durée 39:37
Your brain is not wired for balance. Your brain is wired for polarization. Your brain loves black and white all or nothing thinking and in all aspects of life, your brain wants you to pick a side and to not entertain that the opposite could be true. This is what quiets the cognitive dissonance between possibilities and creates the certainty that your brain is always seeking. This is even true in the way that we think about money which becomes problematic because when you’re not thinking about money in a balanced way, you will not have an emotional experience with money that is balanced which means you won’t manage your finances in a balanced way. You will live in the extremes, in the all or nothing, which closes you off to new possibilities and reaching your highest potential.
In this week of The Money Love Podcast we’re talking all about balance and how to create it within your finances. We start with exploring why achieving balance in life is so difficult and why our brain fights balance, how so much of the common money messages we absorb don’t promote balance, and the steps that we can take to create a more balanced mental, emotional, and tactical management style with our money. Enjoy!
