Episode 394 - Exploring Autism with Paul Voss
This episode contains adult subject matter and some listeners may be triggered by this content. Listener discretion is advised.
A diagnosis can feel like a door closing, the moment the future rearranges itself into something smaller than what we imagined. For families receiving an autism diagnosis, that label often arrives with an unspoken instruction to accept it and manage it for life.
Yet that same moment can become the start of searching for answers and a way forward. When we give ourselves permission to question what we have been told and explore every avenue open to us, we often find there is much more room for possibility than we first believed.
PAUL VOSS
Paul Voss is a father, strategist, and autism advocate whose world changed in an instant when his daughter started to regress, lost language, and disappeared behind behaviors no one could explain. The experience forced him into the deepest kind of leadership—one without titles, teams, or playbooks—where the stakes were his child’s future.
Refusing to accept the standard narrative, Paul and his family rebuilt their lives from the inside out. They overhauled diet, environment, routines, and nervous-system inputs with relentless intention. What followed wasn’t a miracle, but a measurable, hard-won return of skills, connection, and hope.
Today, Paul blends strategic clarity with raw, father-centered honesty to help parents—especially dads—navigate the emotional, practical, and spiritual upheaval that comes with an autism diagnosis. He speaks about leading your home with conviction and why families must be at the center of their child’s healing journey.
He is the author of Autism Sucks: Finding Hope in the Chaos and a sought-after guest for conversations on resilience, fatherhood, health transformation, and the meaning we find when life breaks us open.
Paul’s mission is clear: give parents the clarity, courage, and tools he wishes he had on day one.

Episode 393 - The Thyroid Connection with Dr. Kevin Smith
Modern medicine performs miracles in the emergency room every day, yet chronic conditions still tend to get managed rather than resolved. Challenges as different as fatigue, brain fog, thinning hair, and stubborn weight often trace back to a single source that points the way forward once we know to look for it.
Something small enough to overlook sets the pace for nearly every cell in our bodies, and the path back to vitality can look closer to detective work than to a prescription pad. We follow the empowering web connecting stress, sleep, the gut, and our daily choices, finding why getting to the root of a problem can change everything about how we take charge of our own health.
DR. KEVIN SMITH
Dr. Kevin Smith, a functional medicine practitioner from Pittsburgh, PA., is the founder and clinic director of Metabolic Solutions in Bethel Park. He specializes in the diagnosis and treatment of chronic health problems that have failed to be cured by traditional medical approaches.
Dr. Smith has been in practice since 2001. And in that time, he has seen thousands of people regain their function, restore their health, overcome imbalances, preserve their independence, and decrease their reliance on medications.

Episode 299 - Ancestral Therapy with Kat Daou
This episode contains adult subject matter and some listeners may be triggered by this content. Listener discretion is advised.
Family patterns don’t always show up as stories we’ve been told. Sometimes they live in the habits, emotions, and beliefs we carry without knowing where they began. In this episode, we explore how inherited trauma can shape our inner world and how becoming aware of those patterns can create new possibilities for healing. Our guest shares what led her to begin examining her own family system and how that process opened up a deeper understanding of what she had been holding.
We talk about the science of intergenerational trauma, how family dynamics are passed down, and why certain emotional responses may not begin with us at all. This conversation brings attention to the ways we unconsciously repeat what came before and what can shift when we start to look at those connections more closely. It’s a thoughtful invitation to reflect on what we’ve inherited and what we might choose to release.
KAT DAOU
Kat Daou’s healing journey began at 28, after a life-changing Family Constellation Therapy session. Just days earlier, she had journaled her deepest shames only to realize many weren’t hers, but inherited through generations. That moment launched her into a three-year exploration of generational trauma, from war and immigration to abandonment, abuse, and mental illness.
Raised with the belief that “we don’t air our dirty laundry outside the family”, Kat came to see that each piece of that “laundry” was actually a gateway to healing. She stopped seeing herself as the black sheep and stepped into her role as a CYCLE BREAKER, trusting herself, speaking her truth, and breaking free from family patterns.
Today, Kat helps others do the same. Her deepest intention is to explore the stories, traumas, and beliefs passed down through family systems, and to envision a life beyond those cycles, supporting clients as they transform from black sheep to empowered cycle breakers, one layer at a time.
