Our Top 10 Watches Under $1,000

mercredi 17 mai 2023Durée 26:26

**Hello everyone, Nicholas here. This week's episode is late for one of two reasons: One, I forgot to schedule it for publication or two, Anchor messed up. I've been having issues with Anchor lately and would love to find a new provider tbh. Regardless, apologies, but enjoy!**

This week on The HourTime Show, the official podcast of WristWatchReview.com, John, Victor, and Nicholas break down their top 10-ish favorite watches under $1,000. But before that, John has some follow-up on a watch that, ahem, greatly resembles a Rolex GMT Master II. Timestamps (we're trying a new format for these, hopefully they work!) (0:00) John's thoughts on his "GMT Master II" (8:20) The top 10 begins: Hemel Air Wing (9:30) NTH Watches (10:15) Seiko King Turtle (10:40) Citizen Tsuyosa (11:40) Hailos (12:30) Imperial Royal Guard (13:20) Heimdallr's Willard Homage (15:00) Casio Frogman (16:10) Seiko Orange Monster (17:55) MoonSwatch (19:00) Tissot PRX (21:00) Tissot Seastar (24:30) Victor has some Belhamel follow-up, outro Thanks once again to Andrew Haworth for his help producing this week's episode. Seestern, Heimdallr, and Tudor, Oh My!

lundi 8 mai 2023Durée 32:00

Hello and welcome to The HourTime Show, the official podcast of WristWatchReview.com. Your hosts this week are Victor (@vmarks on Twitter) and Nicholas (@nicholasadeleon). John is away this week. He sends his regards.

**For a video version of this podcast, simply visit our YouTube channel.**

This week, Victor and Nicholas primarily discuss three big topics: Seestern's new Pelagos homage and how it compares to similar pieces from the likes of Heimdallr, and why you'd want to spend $300 on an homage versus a rep; Rolex's certified pre-owed program; the Belhamel Contra A40; and some DIY watch project stuff. We also briefly mention some big New York Times article on replica handbags, which *we think* is relevant but we didn't actually read the article.

We also bring back audio podcast chapters with this episode. Adding chapters tacks on several more minutes to post-production so hopefully someone out there appreciates them. If your podcast player supports chapters you can more easily skip around to different segments of the episode. Many of the most popular podcast apps, including Apple Podcasts, Overcast, and Pocket Casts, support podcasts, but I (Nicholas) don't know offhand if Spotify does. I guess we'll see!

Thanks once again to Andrew Haworth for his help producing this week's episode.

Keep it locked to WristWatchReview.com and @wristwatchreview on Instagram for more fun watch content. And feel free to come hang with us all day on Discord!

Thank you for listening, and have a great week!

ChatGPT, Create Some Cool Watch Brand Names for Us

lundi 6 mars 2023Durée 25:36

Hello and welcome to yet another exciting edition of The HourTime Show, the official podcast of WristWatchReview.com. Your hosts this week are John (@johnbiggs on Twitter), Victor (@vmarks) and Nicholas (@nicholasadeleon).

We open the show this week with some more ChatGPT hijinks, asking it to write a watch podcast intro from scratch. Sounds OK to us! We intend to mess around with this tech a bit more in the coming days and weeks.

Victor then goes into detail with a Houtman, which he has on loan at the moment. This sparks a wider discussion on branding, design, and so on. Of course, we had to then ask ChatGPT to come up with some watch brands for us.

Lastly, we help Victor pick a travel watch. Sounds like he needs a GMT of some sort!

There's a bit more but that's the gist.

Thanks once again to Andrew Haworth for producing this week's episode.

WristWatchReview Micro: G-Shock Frogman & Nivada Chronoking

lundi 27 février 2023Durée 13:15

Hello and welcome to a special MICRO edition of The HourTime Show, the official podcast of WristWatchReview.com. Your hosts this week are John (@johnbiggs on Twitter) and Nicholas (@nicholasadeleon). Victor (@vmarks) appears at the very end for approximately three seconds.

Why micro? Because Nicholas, who is a very important person, had to take a call during our usual recording time and we didn't want to miss another week. So, micro it is!

We open with a great deal of G Shock talk, brought about by Nicholas's recent visit to the gun show in Tucson. A looot of G Shocks there, let me tell ya. This newest Frogman? Eh, a little busy for our tastes.

We then shift to a quick discussion of this Nivada and the VK64 mecha-quartz movement. What's the deal with the 24-hour subdial?

And that about does it for this MICRO episode.

Thanks once again to Andrew Haworth for producing.

Will AI Design Your Next Watch?

lundi 13 février 2023Durée 22:05

Hello and welcome to yet another exciting edition of The HourTime Show, the official podcast of WristWatchReview.com. Your hosts this week are John (@johnbiggs on Twitter), Victor (@vmarks) and Nicholas (@nicholasadeleon).

We open the week with some AI talk, stuff like ChatGPT and Dall-E, and whether or not these tools can be used to create watches. We more or less land on, "Sure, why not?"

We then pivot to a new (to us) Norwegian brand called Aigi, whose Satellite Ground Station we're definitely big fans of. John loves it, and he hates everything!

Victor then brings the brand Houtman to the table, which he now has in for review. Another new-to-us brand that's a winner. Nice!

There's a bit more but that's the gist.

The Hnauty List

lundi 6 février 2023Durée 24:18

Hello and welcome to yet another exciting edition of The HourTime Show, the official podcast of WristWatchReview.com. Your hosts this week are John (@johnbiggs on Twitter), Victor (@vmarks) and Nicholas (@nicholasadeleon). Full house!

We open the show this week with, get this, some actual watch talk.

First on the docket is the Hnauty Hero-X, which John has in for review. As is befitting our general ideology, we're basically OK with this! The price is right, it looks fiiiiine, and so forth. Is it in the same level as all those APs that were announced last week? Well no, but we think it's cool overall, silly name notwithstanding. We're in a good mood this week!

We then take a tangent to discuss WHAT THE HECK IS HAPPENING to design and/or aesthetics in this country.

We then take another tangent to plug our Discord. We're still in the early stages of figuring this out so please be kind.

Victor has some thoughts on the Alpina Alpiner Extreme Automatic Freeride World Tour, leading to an overall discussion on Alpina itself.

Thaaat's about it!

John and Nicholas Ponder the Meaning of Life

lundi 30 janvier 2023Durée 31:38

Hello and welcome to yet another exciting edition of The HourTime Show, the official podcast of WristWatchReview.com. Your hosts this week are John (@johnbiggs on Twitter) and Nicholas (@nicholasadeleon).

Strap in for a weird one, friends.

With Victor out, John and Nicholas take you on a meandering meta journey about the meaning of life and a bunch of other stuff. I love this discussion to be honest.

Now if you listen to a watch podcast expecting to eventually hear about watches, good news: We talk about this new Kross Studios Bob Fett tourbillon, this Christopher Ward Dune GMT, and this Shinola GMT.

We Ring In the New Year Three Weeks After It Began!

lundi 23 janvier 2023Durée 29:44

Hello and welcome to yet another exciting edition of The HourTime Show, the official podcast of WristWatchReview.com. Your hosts this week are John (@johnbiggs on Twitter), Victor (@vmarks) and Nicholas (@nicholasadeleon).

This is the first podcast of 2023, so hooray! We should be back to our normal recording schedule from now on.

At the top of the show we reveal that Nicholas (IE, the person writing these show notes) has left New York for Tucson, Arizona. See you in heck, New York!

As far as watch news go, we discuss a couple of nice pieces including this handsome Traska GMT that apparently we all love; this Vulcain skindiver that we're ehhh on; the (potential) impact of the (potential) recession; and this Laventure Automobile Chronograph, which we're also sorta meh on.

Sorry, We've Been Sick

lundi 26 décembre 2022Durée 26:44

Hello and welcome to yet another exciting edition of The HourTime Show, the official podcast of WristWatchReview.com. Your hosts this week are John (@johnbiggs on Twitter), Victor (@vmarks) and Nicholas (@nicholasadeleon).

Welcome to the final episode of 2022. Sorry we've been AWOL, but for a number of reasons that are explained here we were unable to record.

We touch on a few topics in this episode, including the Barstool Sports guy's dumb watch; Timex's weird NFT thing; John trying to eBay this Seiko he no longer wants; and what we're happy and/or thankful for this year.

I (Nicholas) edited this episode, so apologies if it's not up to our usual standard.

Brands to Keep an Eye on for Black Friday

lundi 21 novembre 2022Durée 29:17

Hello and welcome to yet another exciting edition of The HourTime Show, the official podcast of WristWatchReview.com. Your hosts this week are John (@johnbiggs on Twitter), Victor (@vmarks) and Nicholas (@nicholasadeleon).

We open The Pod with a status update on Nicholas: He's alive! Yup, he had The Covid and was out of commission for several days there. But he's feeling much better now. Hooray!

Believe it or not but we actually talk about watches this week, focusing on some Black Friday deals we think you should keep an eye on. We mostly touch on brands like Timex and Invicta (!) but then also suggest visiting sites like Chrono24 to find vintage pieces this holiday shopping season. Nicholas also wanted to randomly highlight this RGM Yellowstone National Park watch. Neat!

Thanks once again to Andrew Haworth for producing this week's episode.
