| EPISODE 41 - “Why sleep school doesn’t work!" | 24 Sep 2024 | 00:28:47 | |
Have you been or thinking of going to sleep school? You have probably heard about many experiences of parents who have been. There are many successful stories but on a daily basis we hear traumatic and unsuccessful experiences which leads us to question why this may be the case. On this episode, we dive into 7 key issues around this model and why families end up reaching out for support in a 1:1 capacity despite going to these environments as they chase better sleep for their children. This episode, addresses the notion that sleep school is not a holistic approach which means there are so many elements that are missed, there is a lack of ongoing education or long term success, what working on sleep in a different environment to your own house means and that jumping to a technique instead of ticking off all the building blocks to sleep will mean your child still isn't getting the sleep they require. By employing a holistic approach to sleep, it means each variable is addressed and THEN when you undertake a sleep technique it is smooth and creates little distress. Listen here to the 7 key issues with this model and then make your own decision about how you want to tackle your child’s sleep issues!

| Episode 49-"Is there ever a time I should wake my sleeping child?" | 09 Feb 2026 | 00:17:38 | |
I am sure you have heard the term, “never wake a sleeping baby”. However, this my friends is not correct! If we allow a child to sleep as long as they want to for some nap/s it can affect other elements to a successful 24 hour sleep cycle. A child can only sleep a certain amount (depending on their age and their own sleep needs), and just because we may enjoy the 2 hour break in the middle of the day it doesnt mean they are capable of sleeping that duration of nap AND a full 12 hours over night. If your child is above 4 months old and you are wanting to start establishing a regular feeding and sleep routine OR if you are having issues with night waking, early rising or long naps…listen up! Too much day sleep can result in: -difficulty settling your child at bedtime -experiencing night wakes -or early rising But how do you fix these issues?! This can be the tricky part. You may not know the optimal and correct nap times, nap durations, awake times, bedtime for your child's age. Dont worry! | EPISODE 20 -"The Baby Reflux Lady will change how you think about treatment for your baby’s reflux and colic" | 04 Dec 2023 | 01:51:39
If you suspect your baby has reflux, colic or an allergy or has been given one of those diagnosis this episode is for YOU! If you feel that despite the professional advice you have been given, something is just not right with your baby, listen to this incredible episode created just for you.. Áine is the mum of two girls who between them had diagnoses of colic, reflux, silent reflux, CMPA, and multiple other food intolerances and allergies. Coupled with a three year relationship with postnatal depression, left her feeling lost, alone and like she didn’t even know who she was anymore. During that time, her instinct was to always listen to her babies, even though she wasn’t naturally maternal and so she never accepted the explanations that the healthcare professionals offered. Her daughters WERE in pain and there HAD to be a reason. With a background in mechanical engineering, maths and then retraining in 2012 in Traditional Chinese Medicine, she believed that there was one question which would unlock the answers for her babies. that is still the same question she supports her clients around the world to answer for these children. And that is “What is causing your baby’s distress?” No matter what is going on for them. Aine has a truly unique and holistic view of treating reflux. Her perspective is all about getting to the root cause rather than just masking symptoms. She challenges the way medical professionals currently address conditions such as colic, reflux and allergies. On a daily basis, she sees families experiencing “medical gas lighting” and unsatisfactory results from the medical interventions. In her work in this niche area, she validates families, acknowledges what they are experiencing and gives answers based on the presentation of their child as an individual. Just like The Holistic Sleep Project, she gives a unique and truly holistic perspective to the families she works with who are struggling. It was such an honour to chat to Aine as a fellow Holistic Practitioner both working in the space of parenthood support. If you suspect or have been given a diagnosis for any of these conditions for your child, this is an absolute MUST listen, as it will totally change the way you view your situation and how you can move forward to getting your child out of the pain they are experiencing.

| EPISODE 19 -"Steph's sleep transformation was more transformative than her birth” with Steph Woodhouse | 19 Nov 2023 | 01:24:06 | |
Stephanie Woodhouse is a physiotherapist based in Melbourne, Australia. She completed her undergraduate study in 2010 and immediately started work in private practice. From there she went on to complete her Post Graduate Certificate and then Masters in Sports Physiotherapy. She has worked in various elite sports since 2013, many of which have taken her around the world traveling with Australian teams. But, there is another side to her story. She suffered from glandular fever twice during her school years and never really recovered from the second bout and it developed into chronic fatigue syndrome. Over the following 10 years there were some relapses and an additional diagnosis of adrenal fatigue. After development of some new symptoms she was diagnosed with a Chiari Malformation and underwent decompression surgery (brain surgery) late 2018. Working in the health industry whilst also suffering from a number of health concerns has given her an interesting, and in some ways, unique perspective. She has gained a lot of knowledge and has accessed a lot of resources that have allowed her to navigate her journey a little easier. She is also a mumma to Romy who has just turned 1. Initially things were going well with Romy’s sleep but soon she found her little one was waking 11x overnight which meant she was too, and her partner ended up sleeping in the spare room! She knew she needed support but never resonated with the Controlled Crying or Cry It Out approaches. Referred by a friend she embarked on a beautiful journey of personal growth and sleep transformation which she was very keen on sharing with other mummas. During this podcast episode we discuss not only her entire family’s sleep transformation but how important it was to undertake a philosophy that was in line with her beliefs such as co regulation and having a long term approach as well as resolving the immediate issues at hand. She discusses the sleep transformation we embarked upon, to be not only about sleep but intense personal growth and overcoming feelings of guilt, judgement and anxiety she experienced as she considered reaching out for support. She describes her sleep transformation to be “more transformative than birth”. This is an incredible episode which is sure to change your perspective of what it is like to do sleep work with this unique and truly holistic method at The Holistic Sleep Project. | EPISODE 17 -BONUS EPISODE-The two most common mistakes parents make when it comes to the child’s night waking. | 09 Aug 2023 | 00:21:23
This episode explores the two most common mistakes that parents make when it comes to their little one’s night waking. If you are experiencing night waking, this is a must listen episode to see if you are falling into the trap of making these mistakes.

Its great to be back! In this episode Marg speaks candidly about her shock of the conflicting information between social media/sleep school, compared to the information and experience she had at The Holistic Sleep Project as she attempted to solve her little one's sleep challenges. Baby Lainey was awake between 5-18x a night, she was either being fed or rocked but to sleep each time. She was only having short and inconsistent naps. Margaret (despite having support) questioned how she could continue to work, start her child at child care and was filled with guilt and shame as she couldn't help her baby sleep well. She talks at length about her experience at sleep school and how vastly different it was to the work we fulfilled together. Margaret is transparent and articulate in this episode as she explains her experience with struggling with strong emotions, the conflicting information online, thinking her baby had low sleep needs, comparing herself to others and the prospect of being unable to continue to pursue upcoming stages in her family (work, sickness and childcare) when she and her partner just couldn't get their child to sleep despite trying everything they thought was possible. No matter how much youre struggling with sleep issues, this is the episode for you! You will see yourself in Margaret and Lainey and her advice about what to do next will be lifechanging. I assure you.
