Interview with Baby Begin: What you need to know about flat head syndrome and your newborn
Saison 1 · Épisode 15
mercredi 1 juin 2022 • Durée 33:53
Our guest on the podcast today is Jennifer Barnard of Baby Begin. She has been a pediatric occupational therapist for over 20 years. She is an expert on treating torticollis (tight neck) and correcting flat heads in babies without the need for helmets and trains other therapists all over the world to do the same. This is a really big deal, especially as a mom of a child who had to wear a helmet - I would have given anything to have known about the preventative and early treatment options Jennifer talks about in this episode. It would have saved us going through such a difficult ordeal with our second child.
Since we work with so many newborn babies and families with young babies, we wanted to bring her onto the podcast to share some of her expertise and empower you as mom and dad to advocate for your little one.

How Long Will My Child Cry During Sleep Training?
Saison 1 · Épisode 4
mercredi 26 janvier 2022 • Durée 15:49
We work with a lot of tired tired parents, and we know how incredibly hard it is to wear all of the hats you wear and show up when you are so sleep deprived.
One of the first questions we get asked and one of the main things we talk about during our discovery calls with potential clients is: how long will my child cry during sleep training?
It’s the thing that causes the most anxiety when it comes to sleep training. This episode goes over everything you can expect with crying when you sleep train your child.

How to Correct or Prevent Your Newborn From Getting Their Days and Nights Mixed Up
Saison 1 · Épisode 3
mercredi 19 janvier 2022 • Durée 07:25
Do you have a newborn who has their days and nights mixed up (meaning they sleep alllll day long for you but think it’s time to party during the night? Does that sound familiar? Or are you hoping to prevent that from happening because you’ve heard it’s a thing? This is super common with newborns, but luckily there are some ways to help prevent and/or correct day/night confusion.
Our sweet little newborns are born with no concept of day or night and their internal clocks are not very developed until closer to 8-12 weeks. That’s why so many newborns end up getting their days and nights mixed up.

One of the most common questions we get from parents is about early morning wakings. Parents will message us to tell us their baby or child is waking up between 4 and 5 am every day and they want to know how they can help them sleep longer.

What is sleep training?
Saison 1 · Épisode 1
mercredi 5 janvier 2022 • Durée 12:50
The big question: What is sleep training? (And does the Goodnight House sleep train?!)
There is a LOT of drama around the term sleep training and we know it’s a taboo term. Do a quick search in any online mom group and you’ll see what we’re talking about if you don’t already. We’re here to try and clear things up once and for all and hopefully ease your mind.
There are a lot of assumptions around babies and sleep, but our goal with sleep is for parents to come alongside their babies and help them establish healthy sleep habits.

13. Will Sleep Training Harm My Baby?
Saison 1 · Épisode 13
mercredi 6 avril 2022 • Durée 06:59
One of the most common fears parents have about sleep training is that sleep training will harm their child emotionally, mentally, or physically (or damage their attachment or bond).
This episode is intended to encourage parents by providing some of the relevant evidence based research that has been done on sleep training and point you towards resources as you work through whether sleep training is right for you and your family.
- Where did the Anti-Sleep Training movement come from?
- Will the stress or rise in cortisol caused by sleep training harm my child’s development or their emotional or physical wellbeing?
- What about the well known Middlemiss study that proves sleep training is dangerous?
- Will sleep training damage my child’s bond with me or their attachment?
- The numerous high quality studies that show the benefits and effectiveness of sleep training for both children and parental well being.

Your Child's Perfect Bedtime Routine
Saison 1 · Épisode 16
mercredi 30 mars 2022 • Durée 11:23
Did you know that the steps you take in your child’s nap and bedtime routine sends a signal to their brain that it’s time for sleep? Each step becomes a cue that tells your child it’s almost time to go to sleep.
Having a consistent sleep routine that you do before every single sleep is a very small, but very important part of your child’s sleep puzzle. When we begin working with families, one of the very first things we do is help them come up with a sleep routine that they commit to doing before every single nap and bedtime.
Now, we know that bedtime can be one of the most stressful things for families. We’ve worked with families whose bedtime routines take up to an hour or more as they try to get their little one’s down for the night or for naps. Today’s episode is going to help bust some myths about bedtime routines and you will walk away knowing exactly what you need to do.

Four Steps to Solve your Child's Night Wakings
Saison 1 · Épisode 14
mercredi 23 mars 2022 • Durée 11:26
“How do I solve my 8 month old’s night wakings?”
“How do I help my 14 month old stop waking for comfort feeds during the night?”
“How do I help my toddler or preschooler sleep without needing me to sleep in their room with them?”
All of these questions essentially ask the same thing: how do I solve my child’s night wakings? Which is EXACTLY what we help parents with here at the Goodnight House. However, the answer to that question is a little bigger than what we can answer in a simple Instagram story slide.
Today on the podcast, I want to take this entire episode to answer this question and help you solve your child’s night wakings! (This episode is for children over 5-6 months old, as newborns are a whole different ball game. Check out our newborn services and free resources).
We also have a free download in the show notes of this episode - it’s a workbook style guide that goes along with this episode and offers even more details to help you solve your child’s night wakings: get the free workbook HERE.
