23 - Food Miles: supporting local, reducing waste, and rethinking what’s on your plate

vendredi 10 janvier 2025Durée 39:55

In this episode of The F Word, we explore the journey of Farm to plate, and everything inbetween, with Lucy Jones and Victoria Amran, Founders of The Cornish Food Box Company, and sisters!

Lucy and Tor have created something truly special, all starting from a single veg box delivered out of the boot of Tor’s car, to becoming a pillar of Cornwall’s local Food movement. They are passionate about supplying good, local, and real Food to Cornwall from Cornwall, supporting local growers, Farmers, Fishermen, bakers, and makers, all while delivering the Food we should be eating.

With issues such as Food security, Food waste, climate change, and Financial challenges hitting our headlines, it’s so important for us to change the way we think about Food, and how we can better support ourselves and our communities.

Whether you’re curious about what’s really in your ‘Food’ (or ‘edible Food-like substances’), want to make radical changes to your diet or weekly shopping habits, or you’re looking to get inspiration to cook Fresh meals from scratch, this episode is packed with insights, practical tips, and the powerful reminder that small changes make a big impact.

Enjoy episode 23 of The F Word.

22 - Founder, Failure, Future: leading with resilience and cultivating Fearlessness

vendredi 13 décembre 2024Durée 29:22

In this episode, we got to dig into Cornwall with John Brown, CEO of Cornwall Chamber of Commerce, and founder of Build The Fearless.

John is a contagiously passionate advocate for Cornish business. In John’s words, we want and need to do more shouting about Cornwall… and do it draped in a St Piran’s flag!

John shares his journey, from his early days with a short stint in journalism, to diving into the world of PR and Comms in agency, working internationally, and then Founding Don’t Cry Wolf, a B Corp agency, doing all the right things in people and practice, rewriting the rules and pushing boundaries. And then, the hard realities of business closure and the topic of ‘Failure’.

We discuss John’s work at the Cornwall Chamber, where he’s unapologetically Focused on making Cornwall a powerhouse of industry, sustainability, and social innovation. From championing the talent and determination of Cornish businesses, to addressing issues like housing and healthcare, John unpacks why Cornwall is an investable, thriving hub of opportunity. “If you’re not looking at Cornwall, you’re losing out”.

“You are going to get a return on investment because of the innovation, the talent, and the stubbornness of the Cornish people. It’s an investable proposition.”

There is so much more to share from this episode, but we’ll leave it to the man himself.

We absolutely loved chatting with John, and we know you’ll love listening.

Enjoy episode 22 of The F Word.

P.s there is a real F word in this ep, just in case you’re listening near little ears.

13 - Focus: running a business with ADHD

Épisode 13

vendredi 11 octobre 2024Durée 37:56

Sit tight for this one… if you can. Today’s episode is all about Focus. Specifically, trying to navigate this with ADHD.

October is ADHD awareness month, so what better time to sit down with an amazing business owner (or two!) to discuss what it’s like running a business with neurodivergence?

Spoiler: it makes it really hard. BUT, it can also be a ‘super power’. You’re 300 times more likely to start your own business if you have ADHD, so that absolutely says something.

In this episode, we get to chat to Tanya Blackman, of Kartha, as she discusses her business, how she tackles the day-to-day, and how she discovered she has ADHD.

This is a special episode for sure.

We hope you enjoy episode 13 of The F Word.
