How To Coach Leadership With Podcasts - Steve Worthy

Saison 2 · Épisode 9

jeudi 29 septembre 2022Durée 55:32

Today's guest, Steve Worthy, is an awesome human being with expertise in retail leadership, executive coaching, podcasting, and live streaming.

His journey began in 2007 when he was doing blog talk radio, and his original content was about being a husband and an entrepreneur. After a while, his career got in the way, and his co-host ran out of time.

As soon as that podcast ended, Steve started "The Worthy Show," a leadership coaching podcast, but it didn't work the way Steve had expected.

Having sought out professional advice about podcasting, he niched down, which led to the birth of the Retail Leadership Podcast.

Because of the success of that podcast, Steve has now launched Podcasters Live, a new show dedicated to helping people learn to live stream and podcast to grow their businesses.

Steve's journey wasn't smooth; he experimented and learned much along the way. In today's episode, he shares all the golden nuggets he learned from his journey.

He discussed how niching now helped him find the right audience for his content. He explained why consumption rate is more important than download rate. Steve shares his workflow for a one-day podcast production process and his comprehensive engagement strategy for his content.

Furthermore, he discussed editing ethics and how he focuses more on the flow of conversation rather than editing "uhm" sounds. He discussed why he disliked audiograms and used Facebook live streaming and email marketing to promote his podcast.

Tune into this jam-packed episode to learn more about podcasts.

Life Changing Content Creation: The Evolution Of THE Most Successful Madmen Blog To Podcast.

Saison 2 · Épisode 8

jeudi 15 septembre 2022Durée 55:10

Today's guest, Roberta Lipp, is the cohost and producer of the widely successful "They Coined It, A Mad Men" podcast. Roberta has always been passionate about creating content and talking about the things she loves. After dropping so many ideas, she began writing the blog on the famous American television show Mad Men; it became a widely successful blog about the show at that time.

Her journey doesn't end there. After a successful blog, she evolved it into a podcast, which has become equally successful. They spoke to the actors and creators of the show. They had fans involved. They got an opportunity to go on the show set and even got invited to do a book tour after co-authoring a book about Mad Men.

When Roberta started her journey, she didn't have any fancy plans. She just had a strong why; she knew what she wanted to discuss and create. It all began when she would watch an episode, call her sister and then re-watch the VHS of the same episode and call her sister, and the cycle continued.

She revealed that they don't make significant revenue from the podcast, but they enjoy the process and all opportunities it comes along with.

She has shared so much wisdom from her journey. We discuss how to structure a podcast episode carefully, and she is very particular about it. We talk about engagement strategies to grow your audience. We discuss whether Patreon is extra stress on your podcast and how passion is a content creator's superpower.

There are so many stories and ideas in this episode, I am sure you will love it.

Where And How To Promote & Grow Your Podcast

Saison 1 · Épisode 10

mercredi 15 décembre 2021Durée 19:37

In this episode of the KULT Kreator Experience, This is episode 10 and will be the final of this series. It’s been a lot of fun to be on the other side of the glass as they say. I’ve been producing podcasts for 5 years and audio content in general of over 15. I have always been so hesitant to be in front of the mic, worried I wouldn’t be comfortable or sound like a complete fool. I probably still sound like a fool, but it's been really enjoyable producing a show for myself.

I might do a bonus episode about some of the lessons I have learnt finally producing my own show in the next few months. But first I have a few tests to do with the podcast to see if I can grow it a little bit more before series 2 kicks off.

You might be wondering why are you not pushing the podcast more as it goes live? Well, I have been promoting the show via my social media pipes but the plan for this first series was to produce it as a resource to support KULT Media as we grow the business. I wanted a free resource that can help people learn about podcasting and understand the steps to successful content creation. The power of series one will be as a reference and long term content. Allowing me to provide assistance to clients that might not be in the position to hire me but I can still help them launch & grow their podcasts.

BUT enough about me and the marketing of my podcast let’s help you get your podcast out there into the wilderness and get it growing as fast as possible.

Today we wrap up the last step of my KKE, collaboration.

We will be discussing growing your podcast from zero, effective use of social media, engagement strategy, advertising and gaining that all-important credibility and social proof.

Now I am definitely going to admit I am not a marketing expert. I am not going to be talking about split testing, intense ad purchasing and analysis of marketing data.

I am going to be sharing the organic, hands-on & more personal approach that allows you to get visibility for your show but fundamentally it is based on your engagement with your audience for success to occur.

It just means there will be minimal marketing jargon … cos I don't think the average podcaster needs it.

If this sounds like a journey you’d like to be part of, please follow us on Instagram @kult.media and on your podcasting app of choice.

In this episode, we discuss:

  • Low Hanging Fruit - How to grow your audience from zero
  • How to use social media to promote your podcast
  • Simple Audience Engagement Strategy
  • Paid Ads for Podcasts
  • How To Utilise Social Proof
  • Technology and Future Tech

Publish: Where Are You Distributing Your Podcast?

Saison 1 · Épisode 9

jeudi 9 décembre 2021Durée 16:31

In this episode of the KULT Kreator Experience, we begin the final step of the KKE and we start by looking at how we publish our content.

Publishing your content is relatively easy. We take our finished asset, be it video or audio and we host it on a server. We then share the location of the content with our audience for them to follow and consume.

BUT of course, there is a bit more to it than that. I am going to walk through the process of publishing content and point out some of the key points and optimisations we can make.

We will be chatting about metadata, the podcast apps like Apple and Spotify, the infrastructure of distribution, how your listeners can access your content, and the wonder of scheduling.

Post Production Strategy: How & Why To Edit Your Podcast

Saison 1 · Épisode 8

jeudi 2 décembre 2021Durée 37:30

In this episode of the KULT Kreator Experience, we come up against one of the most disliked subjects in podcasting and content creation, Post Production.

Post Production can become a huge time sap and stress for lots of people, and because of that, it is one of the most outsourced tasks.

But do we even need post-production?

I’ve spent over 15 years working in post-production. I can say it’s been an eye-opening experience. Working in the final stages of production reveals all of the minor issues that have now become major mistakes, the variation in quality vs budget vs planning and the possibilities to add something special to incredible content.

And in this episode, I will seek to answer the question of “do we need to edit or have post-production?”

After all, I’ve spent 7 episodes telling you how planning as best as possible will reduce the need for fixes later in the process. But I do believe editing and post-production can level up your content.

If this sounds like a journey you’d like to be part of, please follow us on Instagram @kult.media and on your podcasting app of choice.

  • Ethical Editing

  • Storytelling With Sound
  • Overediting
