| How to supercharge your revenue & impact through membership models | 12 May 2023 | 00:24:49 | |
Today's podcast episode explores ways to supercharge revenue and impact a coaching business. We discuss key areas, including starting a successful membership program and achieving consistent cash flow. When establishing a membership program, it's essential to be clear on what it includes and to prospect clients through webinars or strategy sessions to determine the level of support needed. Entrepreneurs should also be creative and imagine their ideal model before developing a framework that brings their vision to life. To achieve consistent cash flow, coaches can productize services with high-ticket packages but should also consider group coaching models to provide clients with more specific and dedicated feedback. Starting small with one person allows coaches to scale their business to a level that offers a central place for clients to come together and support each other. By taking these steps, coaches can generate long-term business success that balances time and money.

| Creating a Successful Coaching Business: Insights and Tips for Success | 11 May 2023 | 00:17:38 | |
Today we're discussing how to start a successful membership program, which can take on various forms, such as evergreen or hybrid models. First, it's essential to be clear on what the membership includes -- the number of sessions, workshops, recordings, and other resources such as a community area. Then, coaches can prospect in the usual way, through webinars, one-on-one conversations, or strategy sessions to help them decide what level of support the client needs and whether one-on-one or group coaching would be more appropriate based on the client's goals and financial situation. Long-term business success involves many factors, such as sales and marketing, forecasting, and balancing time and money. A lot of value comes from being creative when developing a membership model. Entrepreneurs should envision the ideal model for their business, have fun with the process, and work backward to create a strategy that brings their vision to life.

| Maximizing Cash Flow and Scalability: Solutions and Strategies | 10 May 2023 | 00:14:06 | |
Today we're talking about consistent cash flow in coaching. This is a crucial problem because money determines whether coaches can focus on business growth or survival. One option is to productize services by selling high-ticket priced packages; however, this approach requires coaches to always look for clients and may only be sustainable in the short term. Solving the scalability problem means coaches should not let the fear of starting small prevent them from creating a successful coaching business. One of the benefits of group coaching models is they can begin with just one person. Starting small allows coaches to provide more specific and dedicated feedback to clients. As a coach's capacity to manage group models increases, the business can scale to a level that offers a central place for clients to come together and support each other.

| How to Expand Your Coaching Through Collaborations Part 2 | 05 May 2023 | 00:42:51 | |
Collaboration is a critical element for introverted and extroverted coaches to expand their coaching businesses successfully. Establishing meaningful connections in real-life situations, sharing stories, and socializing can lead to productive collaborations. In addition, having a clear and profound vision aligned with values can help coaches attract like-minded individuals and generate opportunities for cooperation. Connecting with others with similar principles and objectives is vital to effective collaborations. However, working with people with diverse perspectives and strengths can challenge assumptions and behaviors, provide valuable feedback, and complement one's skills and abilities. Finding potential partners requires seeking feedback, connecting with various people, and observing how people work. Openness to opportunities, proactive maintenance of relationships, and trial and error are essential in creating successful enterprises. Coaches should collaborate with different people to amplify their business's impact, even though seeking those similar to themselves may be natural. | Moving Beyond Short-Term Thinking and Embracing Strategic Vision | 04 May 2023 | 00:19:08
Collaboration is crucial for coaches, including introverts, to build a successful business. Connecting with others in real-life situations can provide valuable context for your coaching. Sharing stories, taking pictures, and engaging socially can all lead to fruitful partnerships. Having a clear and meaningful vision is also essential for attracting like-minded individuals and creating effective collaborations. A deeper vision tied to one's values can initiate the reticular activating system (RAS) and generate potential cooperative opportunities. Long-term thinking and planning can appeal to the right people, and being proactive in maintaining relationships can lead to enhanced collaboration experiences.

| Steps to Successful Collaboration | 03 May 2023 | 00:20:06 | |
Collaboration can be challenging, but it is essential for success. To find the right associates, aligning with others regarding values and vision is vital. However, it is also beneficial to cooperate with people who have diverse perspectives and strengths. Doing so can challenge one's assumptions and behaviors, provide valuable feedback, and fill gaps in one's skills and abilities. Identifying potential cohorts requires putting oneself in situations where feedback can be received, connecting with various people, and observing how people work. Clarity comes through action and trial and error. Therefore, it is essential to be open to opportunities and ask for areas of partnership. While it is natural to seek out people like oneself, it is crucial to collaborate with different people to amplify certain things in business.

| Navigating the Challenges of Collaboration: Overcoming Past Pain to Embrace Future Opportunities | 27 Apr 2023 | 00:19:39 | |
People often have reservations about collaborating with a partner or group. At its core, collaboration is a relationship; and most of us have been burned by a relationship, whether personal or professional., in the past. This creates a continued challenge around overcoming the pain of developing enough trust to work with other people. Our brains want to protect us, so it’s often easier to remember the hurts and negative outcomes of previous experiences more clearly than the positive ones. Coaches interested in collaborating in their business should consider what type of collaboration makes the most sense for their business at the time and look to work with people whose skill sets are complementary rather than oppositional.

| Importance of Building Relationships and Trust | 26 Apr 2023 | 00:20:38 | |
Modern technology has vastly increased the ability of people to connect more deeply at a distance. The implementation of video as a common form of communication has become the next best thing to being in person as it provides an opportunity to view someone’s body language, mannerisms, facial expressions, and style. This formulates a greater sense of who someone is more so than can be determined through a letter, email, or phone call. Essentially, technology expanded our ability to develop trust and establish a community with those who would otherwise remain strangers. As a species we are inherently drawn to people who are like us in order to form communal ties; the ability to connect on a larger scale has led to the opportunity to increase community relations.

| How Coaches Can Respond to Economic and Banking CRISIS! | 21 Apr 2023 | 00:48:14 | |
During times of emotional crisis or economic uncertainty, many coaches worry their business will suffer because current or potential clients may feel the need to reduce their expenses. However, these situations often create a greater need for coaches because they can help their clients by providing a supportive and non-judgmental space for them to express their feelings and concerns. While financial turmoil will negatively impact some people’s ability to pay for coaching, others will find immense value in the service because they need guidance most during these times. Coaches can help clients develop a growth mindset and sense of resilience by encouraging them to identify underlying needs and values. This provides room for clients to see their challenges as opportunities for learning and growth rather than insurmountable obstacles. Coaches can also assist their clients in recognizing their strengths and resources, helping them build confidence in their ability to navigate difficult times and make positive changes in their lives.

| Navigating an Economic Crisis: Managing Your Emotions and Approaching with Logic | 20 Apr 2023 | 00:13:15 | |
An economic crisis can cause panic and overwhelming stress-related emotions. Since the body cannot objectively distinguish between tangible and perceived threats, it responds by activating the part of the brain that triggers quick reactions to ensure survival. However, most stressful situations someone will encounter are not immediately life-threatening; therefore, it is critical to learn how to use logic in one’s responses rather than instinct. Coaches can assist their clients in achieving this by helping them to utilize tools that acknowledge the feeling that is being experienced and the specific circumstances that are causing them. This allows the rational brain to move through the chaos and enables clients to think critically about the situation and determine the best course of action based on the identified pros and cons. | How Can Coaches Help Clients Recognize and Work Through Their Emotions | 19 Apr 2023 | 00:18:23
As a coach, recognizing and working through emotions is vital. Coaches don’t need to understand their clients to help them fully. Powerful coaching occurs when both coach and client may feel uncomfortable, and it’s crucial to be aware of one’s own emotions. A coach’s role is to ask probing questions, avoid telling clients what to do, and focus on helping them expand their perspective rather than fixing their problem. Coaches support clients in dealing with fear and believe in their client’s potential for growth. Providing real-time insights, value, and support from real-world coaches. | The Power of Coaching and Mentoring | 12 Apr 2023 | 00:27:29
Adept coaches can accelerate their clients’ progress in just a few months, achieving results that might have taken years to accomplish without guidance. Rather than dictating the action, coaches help clients clarify their goals and develop strategies to overcome obstacles that may be holding them back. Coaches do not necessarily need to be experts in their clients’ fields, as their primary role is to ask thought-provoking questions that inspire momentum. However, to be successful, coaches must continually work to overcome their own personal and professional challenges, or they will not be able to help others reach their full potential.

When you’re starting your coaching business, it’s easy to get caught up in the fear of not being good enough. Many coaches will put off reaching out to clients until they feel that everything in their business is set up seamlessly; unfortunately, this is one of the biggest mistakes that new coaches make because it can set your business back by months or even years. This desire comes from the fear of being out of one’s comfort zone; humans are social creatures, and we base many opinions on positive or negative reputations. Therefore, it is logical to want to present a polished and perfectly designed business. Ultimately, confidence in one’s competence as a coach does not come from a flashy website, it comes from taking action and making connections.

| Coaching Mastery Community: Our 7 core Values (Part 1) -- Being Clear on Your Values as a Coach | 29 Mar 2023 | 00:18:58 | |
Three of CMC’s core values to succeed in the coaching profession are explained. The Relentless Pursuit of Mastery, Embracing Mastery as a Journey Not a Destination, and Giving to Grow all put emphasis on a coach’s responsibility to pursue inner work. Coaches must remain open and preserve the connection to their story in order to maintain a drive for continuous improvement. Remembering that the process and experience of growth are equally as valuable as the result, will produce roots that ground coaches in their original mission to provide guidance to those who need it most and with whom they align. Prospecting is crucial in the initial stages; getting into frequent conversations can help coaches identify who they connect with, thereby determining their ideal client. The journey to a coaching career can be varied; from employment as a coach to building a community, one must be aware of one’s financial and emotional capacity in order to grow sustainably. | Solving the Pain of Business in Coaching | 21 Mar 2023 | 01:14:16
Entrepreneurship is often glamorized, but the emotional rollercoaster it entails is seldom discussed. Building a business can take a long time, and the process can be challenging for the entrepreneur and their loved ones; especially given that many coaches lack the knowledge of building a business, which can make navigating the ups and downs difficult – even for someone who makes a living helping others analyze their emotional experiences. However, the lessons learned through the venture, and the process of coaching others, can boost one’s self-confidence and can help make one a better coach. While some people may become employed as a coach, others may prefer to build a part or full-time business or community. The route to coaching is varied; as a result, coaches should identify their unique path and focus on prioritizing the pieces that matter most in building the career they want. Having a clear vision, and being able to communicate and include loved ones in the journey to its fulfillment help ensure that the reward is worth the sacrifices that were made. | Purpose and Function -- Asking Powerful Questions in Coaching | 17 Mar 2023 | 00:15:52
As a coach, it is your responsibility to remain present during a coaching session; keep your focus on your client. The power of effective questioning lies within you; and if you are too preoccupied with what to ask next, you may miss opportunities to ask the right questions. While it is helpful to have a plan and intentionality in guiding the session toward the client’s goals, don’t be afraid to let your client lead you in determining what would serve their needs best at that time. Ultimately, the questions you ask can open your client to potential change and new perspectives. Providing real-time insights, value, and support from real-world coaches. | Quality of Questions -- Asking Powerful Questions in Coaching | 16 Mar 2023 | 00:18:44
Effective communication between a coach and client is often overcomplicated unnecessarily. It is the simple questions that help clients dig deeper within themselves for the right answer rather than a perfectly crafted inquisition by the coach. Open-ended questions are essential to gain insight into the client’s thoughts and feelings, and it’s important to understand the client’s roles and responsibilities without projecting one’s own biases onto them. Coaches should focus on powerful questions to expand knowledge and bring about change. Trust the process of coaching – it is a simple dialogue that can lead a coaching session in unexpected directions. Noticing important cues such as pauses or shifts in body language, tonality, and emotion is a result of being present in the moment with a client. Coaches who create major impact within their practice not only know how to ask questions of others but continue their own internal work by asking these same questions of themselves. | Asking Powerful Questions in Coaching | 14 Mar 2023 | 00:48:31
Effective questioning skills can help coaches create meaningful interactions with clients; however, it’s not as complicated as one might think. Simple, open-ended questions are best for gaining insight into clients’ thoughts and feelings. Coaches should remain present and focus on their clients; approaching the session with topics in mind can help guide the conversation, but one must be mindful not to project one’s own biases onto the client while also allowing space for the client to lead the session and determine what will serve their needs best at that moment. Noticing cues such as pauses or changes in body language can provide valuable information about clients’ emotions and underlying motivations. Coaches who are able to ask powerful questions and expand their client’s, as well as their own, knowledge, are more likely to bring about change. Coaches should trust the process; it’s a simple dialogue that can lead in unexpected directions. The most impactful coaches are those who not only ask questions of their clients but also engage in self-reflection and personal growth. | Craft in Coaching -- How to 10X your coaching impact through Marketing With Asiya Othman | 10 Mar 2023 | 00:18:42
As an industry, coaching is in its babyhood; while there are organizations that provide training and credentials, there is not yet a consensus on a standard of ethics. Thus, it is incumbent upon active coaches who are pioneering the industry to be mindful of whether their interactions with potential clients are conducted in an ethical manner. These encounters will impact whether someone views future prospects to be coached in a positive or negative light. This is why permission and agreements are the two biggest elements of getting into a conversation that could lead to a coaching relationship. Focusing on these aspects creates an opportunity to provide genuine value because coaches can listen for components of challenges or goals. Asking the potential client if they would like help in those areas demonstrates a desire to provide service and allows space for the client to move forward with intention. | Business in Coaching -- How to 10X your coaching impact through Marketing With Asiya Othman | 09 Mar 2023 | 00:20:02
There is no difference between creating content for paying clients and publishing content for public consumption; marketing is an essential component for both avenues. If a coach wants to build their own business rather than coaching within an existing community or company, then they must be intentional with their marketing strategy in order to create a community built on connection and authenticity which are necessary to developing trust with clients. Many coaches believe that they must possess an aptitude for content creation and proficiency for sales before they can successfully market their business; however, the confidence they are seeking comes from taking action; it’s experiential, not conceptual. | Order of Operation -- Going into the mind of an expert coach & Marketer with the Ant-Man AKA Ant Hodges | 02 Mar 2023 | 00:19:05
Ant Hodges, a marketer and coach, suggests that the most effective way to coach is to start with group coaching before moving on to one-on-one coaching. Group coaching allows clients to interact with others who are going through similar experiences, providing a sense of community and support that can be incredibly beneficial. It is also more cost-effective for clients and can be a more efficient use of the coach's time. Once clients have completed group coaching, they can then move on to one-on-one coaching for more personalized attention and a deeper dive into individual challenges and goals. Ant's approach to coaching is collaborative and requires both coach and client to be fully invested in the process. Providing real-time insights, value, and support from real-world coaches. | Going into the mind of an expert coach & Marketer with the Ant-Man AKA Ant Hodges | 28 Feb 2023 | 01:06:21
Expert Coach and Marketer Ant Hodges explains his journey of entrepreneurship: the failures, successes, transitions, and lessons learned along the way. After the international economic recession in 2009 brought his first graphic design business to an abrupt end, Ant found himself having to seek traditional employment in order to support his family and pay off debts brought about by the closure of his company. A desire to level up led Ant to explore training as a coach. This enabled him to create a new scalable business model that includes diversification of services and a supportive team. Focusing on the distinction among coaching, training, and mentorship, Ant has been able to provide service to clients at multiple levels of their business journey. | The Opportunity for Growth and Learning -- When being a real estate consultant Isn't enough with Jens Nielson | 23 Feb 2023 | 00:14:31
The gap between scarcity and abundance mindsets is growing as we move further into the information age. It was common, in business, to follow the model of competition and not let others know what you have going on for fear that they would steal it or somehow undermine your efforts. Collaboration or working in a supportive network is a foreign concept to those who subscribe to that old way of thinking; but it’s the most natural formula to follow in a world where you can find information on nearly any topic, for free. An abundant mindset does not push others forward at your expense; it leads to trust, growth, and excellence. Providing real-time insights, value, and support from real-world coaches. | Coaches Paying It Forward -- When being a real estate consultant Isn't enough with Jens Nielson | 22 Feb 2023 | 00:12:40
Many people transition into coaching after having a full career in another field. Yet it’s common to see coaches in this scenario neglect utilizing the experiences in their former careers to bolster their coaching business. Valuable skills, such as creating systems or mapping processes, that may have been learned while working in a different industry are transferable to coaching clients. Leveraging skills displays authenticity that is tangible not only to clients but to other coaches. As coaching communities grow, those with more experience are able to help newer coaches navigate the pitfalls of establishing a business. This mentorship mentality heightens the capacity of skilled coaches and ultimately provides better service for clients. Providing real-time insights, value, and support from real-world coaches. Leveraging knowledge from a prior career can enhance a coach’s ability to help their clients. It demonstrates expertise; since coaches can only take their clients as far as they have gone; their current skillset gives them the direction for the necessary growth they must attain to push their clients forward. As the information age continues, we live in a world where the opportunity for growth and expansion is unlimited as data on any topic is instantly available. This is naturally leading us out of the business model of scarcity and competition and towards a system of collaboration, networking, and support. As an abundance mindset prevails, new coaches are finding that mentorship, within the coaching community, is a more readily available resource than it was for coaches who have been in the business for many years. | The Layers of Confidence -- How to develop the confidence to coach CEOs, athletes, and more successful people than you are | 17 Feb 2023 | 00:17:25
In North America, success is often viewed primarily through the lens of a career or financial achievement. So it’s easy to feel intimidated by someone who has obtained high status in their field. But there are many aspects to success and your confidence does not need to be linked solely to your competence in a particular area. In fact, the competence-confidence loop is contextual and only enables you to display assuredness in your familiarity with a specific subject. That certainty does not maintain through other areas of your life unless you’ve done the work to dive deeper into your being. Providing real-time insights, value, and support from real-world coaches. | Discovering Your True Confidence -- How to develop the confidence to coach CEOs, athletes, and more successful people than you are | 16 Feb 2023 | 00:15:09
A show of confidence may serve you well in the short term, but if it’s only superficial, people will easily see through it given time. Connecting with people on an honest level and understanding that everyone has strengths and shortcomings will serve you better in creating a rapport with potential clients. They may not align with you, nor you with them so you won’t know whether or not you can help unless you’re willing to find out. Curiosity and the humility to know that you may not be the right coach for someone will ultimately boost your confidence in a tangible way because, by being open to possibilities, you allow yourself to be vulnerable. Vulnerability is very human, and that is what builds trust with others on a practical level far more than a facade of aplomb. Providing real-time insights, value, and support from real-world coaches. | How to develop the confidence to coach CEOs, athletes and more successful people than you are | 15 Feb 2023 | 01:11:26
Coaching requires a different level of confidence than other adjacent businesses that provide feedback and support. This is because coaches must detach from the outcome and allow themselves to focus on taking their clients through a process. Coaches cannot harbor responsibility for their client’s results but must trust in the service they provide. This is why appearing to be confident is not enough, the surface-level facade will ultimately show ware. True confidence is built at a deeper level. It comes from one’s practices as a human being. How one handles conflict, challenges, and relationships will show up in one’s emotions. Dealing with this is how a coach gains the self-assurance to provide a service to people who have accumulated external representations of success. The more congruence coaches have in their personal lives, the more they are willing to challenge their clients which in turn pushes them to continue their own growth. | Difference Between Transaction and Relationships -- Struggling with your coaching business? Watch this episode with Siawash Zahmat to change that. | 09 Feb 2023 | 00:22:05
Selling is transactional. A customer pays an agreed-upon dollar amount for a particular product or service. Coaching is a business that involves sales; however, it’s more involved than the exchange of a few dollars for a bag of chips because what is being traded are time, effort, and trust. No one wants to feel as though they are an object to be acquired; which is why as coaches, we should focus on building relationships rather than making a sale. This can be difficult for many coaches to accept. Coaching is the kind of business that will reflect what is put into it. Even though it’s a new industry, and the standards of integrity are still being shaped, it’s important to demonstrate seriousness and legitimacy. Coaches who take steps towards furthering their training are more likely to find success within their business because, once their skills are built, they can coach anyone – even clients who need help in areas in which the coach struggles.
The process of building a coaching business will filter out those whose intentions are not service-based. As a business model, it is a difficult option if someone’s intention for pursuing it is solely financial. And from an ethical standpoint, clients should be able to trust their coach is genuinely interested in helping them achieve their goals.

Today’s guest, Siawash Zahmat, excels at helping coaches, who are struggling with their businesses, evaluate their priorities and move forward. What are your motivations for becoming a coach? Are you simply interested in entrepreneurship? Or do you have a genuine desire to serve other people? Coaching is a business that must be built from the ground up; it is very different from purchasing and continuing to operate an established company. It also requires training to indicate legitimacy and a high level of ethics and integrity. If you’re in it for a paycheck, you’ll likely be filtered out through the building process. If your intention is service, then the struggles you are facing may be due to your approach to new clients. You don’t need to close the sale in your first session. Change your mindset about selling your service from transactional to relational. Focus on providing the same effort to a potential client as though they have already paid you; the money will follow. Commit to constantly getting better. The most successful coaches don’t do anything special; they simply get really good at the fundamentals and are willing to expand their perspectives.
