How I Organize My Week, Manage My Time, and Actually Get Stuff Done in My Business
Saison 1 · Épisode 155
mardi 27 mai 2025 • Durée 41:30
In Episode 155 of the Best Coach Ever podcast, we’re getting into the not-so-sexy—but absolutely essential—topic of time management. If you’ve ever looked at your to-do list and thought, “LOL, yeah right,” this one’s for you. After an accidental month-long podcast break (yes, even time management queens fall off sometimes), we’re back with the behind-the-scenes of how to keep your business running like a well-oiled machine—even when life is chaos.
We’re walking through the exact system that keeps launches prepped, client results hot, and burnout far, far away. Think themed workdays, Thursday brain dumps, and Google Calendar realness. Because contrary to what your inner rebel might think, structure doesn’t kill your creativity—it sets it free. We’re done glorifying hustle culture and winging it until we crash. This episode is all about planning like a CEO so you can actually enjoy your weekends (imagine that).
So if you’re tired of playing calendar Jenga, dropping balls, or wondering how the heck other coaches “do it all,” grab your coffee, open that calendar, and let’s get your time (and life) back under control. Let’s make structure sexy again.
In this episode, we cover:
1) Why This Episode Took a Month to Record [0:00 - 4:35]
- How skipping the podcast was actually a result of great time management.
- The difference between prioritizing client service vs. “nice-to-haves” in business.
2) Time Management Isn’t a Personality Trait—It’s a Skill [4:36 - 9:48]
- Why structure matters (even for the type B, messy-desk girlies).
- How being consistent builds a reputation and keeps your business running smoothly.
3) Setting Work Days and Off Days (and Sticking to Them) [9:49 - 14:22]
- The exact work week schedule that’s helped me avoid burnout for 10 years.
- Why having true time off creates urgency, productivity, and mental freedom.
4) Thursday Brain Dumps & Weekly Planning Routine [14:23 - 20:05]
- How brain dumping and reverse engineering your goals prevents overwhelm.
- Plugging repeat and project-specific tasks into your calendar like a CEO.
5) Why Google Calendar > Paper Planners [20:06 - 26:30]
- The secret to tracking shifting deadlines without dropping the ball.
- Real-life examples of how to reschedule tasks without guilt or chaos.
6) When the Calendar Fails & What to Do About It [26:31 - 31:42]
- How to bounce back when things take longer than expected or get pushed.
- Identifying non-negotiables vs. “nice if they happen” tasks.
7) Tips for Actually Following Your Schedule [31:43 - 39:07]
- The “grow up with love” pep talk for when you don’t feel like it.
- Creating discipline by building systems that support how your brain works.
8) The Power of Low-Dopamine Mornings & Themed Workdays [39:08 - End]
- How your morning routine and screen time sabotage your productivity.
- Why batching similar tasks together by day helps you stay in flow and avoid burnout.

Fear #6: “I’m afraid of being judged – what will people think or say about me if I become a coach?” [38:40]

Business Boundaries for Peaceful, Successful Coaches
Saison 1 · Épisode 54
mardi 6 septembre 2022 • Durée 42:00
Setting boundaries as a business owner isn’t just a good idea – it’s ESSENTIAL. Unfortunately, that’s a lesson I had to learn the hard way.
Not only did failing to set boundaries early in my coaching business steal my energy and reduce my ability to fully show up for my clients, but it also kept me from enjoying my personal life and resulted in serious burnout. 10/10 would *NOT* recommend.
However, I learned a lot from my mistakes – and so can you. Today, I’m sharing the 6 boundaries that I recommend coaches and service providers set and abide by ASAP.
Listen to this episode to learn why I’m a big believer in set working hours (nope, they aren’t just for the 9-5-ers!), the many reasons you shouldn’t give your clients your personal cell phone number, how you can ensure your clients get the best possible care WITHOUT you having to be constantly available, and so much more.
In this episode, I cover:
My definition of boundaries, why I used to think they were rude, and how I came to realize they are NOT bad and are actually *very* important [3:30]
Lesson 1: Coaches need set working hours, full days off and weekends (even if your weekend isn’t the traditional Saturday and Sunday) [8:55]
Lesson 2: Your clients don’t need your personal cell phone number [16:00]
Lesson 3: Turn off the notifications on your phone now – seriously, NOW! [17:20]
Lesson 4: Set and clearly communicate your boundaries and expectations with your clients at the beginning of your working relationship [23:50]
Lesson 5: Establish and enforce strong financial boundaries with your clients [29:15]
Lesson 6: Set the mental and emotional boundaries that will allow you to unplug from work and release responsibilities that are not yours to take on [34:10]

Overcoming Discouragement in Business
Saison 1 · Épisode 53
mardi 30 août 2022 • Durée 32:35
I know from personal experience that discouragement is one of the biggest challenges business owners face. It’s also very dangerous because, if we aren’t careful, our discouragement can fester, grow and, ultimately, harm or even RUIN our businesses.
That’s because we often stop taking action when we feel discouraged. Not only will prolonged inaction kill our progress, but it also makes us feel more and more hopeless – and once hope is gone, it’s just too easy to quit altogether. It’s a slippery slope.
But there’s good news: You CAN overcome this all-too-common feeling, and today I’m showing you how. You’ll walk away from this episode with a better understanding of how discouragement can impact you and your actions, and you’ll learn easy-to-implement strategies for navigating discouraging situations and experiences.
Along with helping you feel more prepared to combat discouragement the next time it pops up, I hope this episode gives you the boost of encouragement you need if you’re going through a tough time. Keep showing up, and remember – as long as you don’t quit, your success is inevitable. You’ve got this!
In this episode, I cover:
Why I believe discouragement is one the most dangerous things business owners encounter [4:00]
How discouragement leads to self-sabotage, all-or-nothing thinking and other behaviors that keep us from getting what we want [7:40]
The ways I’ve seen my clients’ discouragement lead to catastrophizing [9:55]
Making everything our fault when we feel discouraged [11:55]
The habit of avoidance and how it relates to feelings of discouragement [13:25]
Why your response to discouragement can make or break your business [14:30]
The importance of not numbing out and actually feeling and facing your feelings – including discouragement [18:50]
The power of asking yourself what *IS* and what is *NOT* objectively true [20:30]
What can happen when you challenge your negative beliefs and turn your focus to empowerment [22:15]
“Trying on” positive thoughts rather than forcing positivity and optimism [24:20]
Doing the work – even if it doesn’t feel easy or rewarding in the moment [26:00]
The reality that whatever you’re discouraged about likely does NOT have the power to end your business or prevent you from succeeding [28:35]

Are You Showing Up As An Influencer or A Business Owner?
Saison 1 · Épisode 52
mardi 23 août 2022 • Durée 21:37
There’s a big difference between business owners and influencers, and as a result, the two MUST present themselves online in very different ways. However, many online fitness coaches get stuck in the influencer trap (trying to grow a massive social media audience, creating content that they think will appeal to the masses, etc.)...
And then they wonder why their programs aren’t selling.
Today, I’m sharing exactly what you need to know if you’re a coach who wants to use social media to grow or scale your business. You’ll learn why your follower count isn’t all that important, what it REALLY takes to sell your programs and services, and why accepting brand deals may not be the best idea. I’m also sharing a peek into how I used to run my social media vs. how I operate it today – and why my current approach makes me significantly more money.
In this episode, I cover:
Why online fitness coaches do NOT have to concern themselves with growing a huge social media following (more followers doesn’t necessarily mean more clients!) [3:10]
The pressure that comes when trying to create content that pleases EVERYONE [6:45]
How to approach social media if you want to scale an online coaching business vs. how to approach social media if you want to appeal to the masses as an influencer [8:10]
Positioning yourself as a leader, expert or authority figure in your field vs. trying to be a “friend” to your followers [11:30]
The importance of promoting YOUR offers rather than using your platform to advertise for other brands (yes, even if you’re getting paid) [14:15]
The truth: Influencers’ goals are NOT the same as business owners’ goals, so the two cannot show up online the same way [15:25]
How to establish yourself as a coach with strategies, solutions and expertise [17:05]
Why you need to focus less on increasing your follower count and more on attracting the RIGHT followers (aka: ideal clients) [19:45]

What I Wish I Knew When I Started My Business
Saison 1 · Épisode 51
mardi 16 août 2022 • Durée 50:52
After a brief hiatus, The Best Coach Ever Podcast is BACK – and it’s better than ever!
I’m kicking off my return by sharing my honest, candid thoughts about the things I *wish* I knew when I launched my online fitness coaching business in June of 2015.
What I’m discussing today isn’t unique to me. I see other coaches (especially newbies) making the same mistakes I did, and that’s why I wanted to record this episode.
Whether you’re just starting out, aspire to be an online coach or have been coaching for a while, you’ll definitely want to give this a listen. You’ll still make mistakes (that’s just part of it!), but this is a valuable opportunity to get advice from someone with the gift of hindsight who’s been there, done that and now has a 7-figure online coaching business.
In this episode, I cover:
My history as an online business owner [3:35]
Lesson 1: You don’t need to be an influencer to make money online (and there’s a BIG difference between influencers and business owners!) [9:25]
Lesson 2: Don’t underchange for your coaching services, and don’t be afraid to raise your rates – especially if you want to be the best coach you can be [16:35]
Lesson 3: There’s no badge of honor for not having boundaries and letting your clients walk all over you (hint: NONE of your clients need 24/7 access to you) [31:20]
Lesson 4: Learn to love sales – and how to successfully make sales – sooner rather than later [36:40]
Lesson 5: Hiring a business coach is one of the best things you can do to help ensure your long-term success [41:35]

Creating An Abundant Money Mindset
Saison 1 · Épisode 50
mardi 5 juillet 2022 • Durée 44:57
In honor of my 50th podcast episode (!!!), I'm covering something super important: Money mindset.
It’s a topic that, in my experience, women tend to struggle with – they often feel guilty for wanting to make lots of money or think they’re not “good enough” to charge fair, reasonable rates for their services. Money can also bring up issues of worthiness and make us question the beliefs our parents handed down, which isn’t always the most pleasant or comfortable thing… and that means many people avoid the topic entirely.
But here’s the deal: We can’t improve what we ignore. So, in this episode, I’m diving in and sharing my honest, candid opinion on why money is NOT inherently bad, why you’re not wrong for wanting to build wealth and how changing your money mindset can change your entire life.
If you’re looking for a “woo-woo” approach to creating an abundant money mindset, this probably isn’t the episode for you (sorry!). However, if you want to hear practical, down-to-earth thoughts on money, wealth and shifting your money mindset from scarcity to abundance, you’re *absolutely* in the right place!
In this episode, I cover:
The different ways I’ve seen men and women approach their money mindsets [3:25]
How certain upbringings and belief systems can impact thoughts, feelings and opinions about money [4:10]
Why I believe in guiding your mindset in a positive, optimistic, healthy direction [6:55]
Taking a practical approach to improving your money mindset [9:05]
The ways my parents and upbringing shaped the way I viewed money and wealth when I was younger [10:15]
How I know the amount of money we make isn’t tied to how “good” or moral we are as people or how much we “deserve” wealth [18:30]
Feeling “worthy” of financial abundance and how to determine if you struggle with worthiness issues [20:00]
The idea of “taking” money from people who are paying for your services [21:50]
Believing that money is scarce vs. believing that there’s plenty to go around and trusting that you can always make more money [22:50]
Hoarding = scarcity mindset; investing = abundance mindset [25:55]
Challenging the belief that making money has to be hard [30:20]
How shifting to a more positive, abundant money mindset changes the way you move through life [34:35]
What to do if you feel triggered by this episode [35:30]
The truth about money being “the root of all evil” (hint: it doesn’t mean what you probably think it means) [36:15]
Imagining what we want for our children, nieces, nephews, etc. when it comes to money and wealth and how we can apply that to what God wants for us [38:45]
The importance of questioning our beliefs – especially if they aren’t serving us [40:45]
Why money is not good or bad; instead, it’s an amplifier [42:15]
