That LEO Guy, podcast de That LEO Guy - Statistiques, épisodes et classements

In the first of several interviews with CIA Paramilitary Operations Officer (OO) and Marine / Silver Star recipient Adam Sikes, Adam will introduce himself and delve lightly into his background.

We all know the Central Intelligence Agency is a thing and that they tinker in the global intel realm. We've seen some TV shows, movies, and maybe read a book.

Adam will provide insight to what they actually do from firsthand experience.

This will be the first of several episodes, so stay tuned and enjoy!

CQB Part 2

mardi 23 décembre 2025 • Durée 21:50

Please message us! We’ll pin to the episode, and would love a dialogue.

Let's continue to analyze the best practices to safely take structures as LEOs. Christmas being in two days does not reduce the danger of this job. Continue to develop in order to go home safe.

When civilians watch videos of building clearing, they see the physical movement. They largely analyze with an untrained eye. They base their opinion on the result.

As LEOs, our goal is enhancement of the process. Out-think, out-maneuver, out-train the opposition.

Thank you for listening and for continuing in your own self-development. If you are deep in the holiday season and continuing down the road of reflection and growth, you are in the top 5%.

Keep it up, stay safe, stay warm, but stay frosty.

Close Quarter Battle - Train and Survive!

vendredi 19 décembre 2025 • Durée 38:19

Please message us! We’ll pin to the episode, and would love a dialogue.

If you carry a gun to work - police & military, I'm looking at you - you've been trained in CQB. Were you trained well? Perhaps. Were you trained badly?

I have been.

Although CQB is subjective, we can learn from the mistakes and blood of others. We don't have to get blood on our own hands due to poor (or lack of) tactics.

Unfortunately, most established units that have a way of doing things will not change until they see the failure themselves.

I'm passionate about CQB. I've done an episode on complacency because I've seen it, and it's overwhelmingly visible in some CQB situations.

Let's get thinking about our tactics. Are the tactics we're using just good in training, or will they work on the two-way range? Are we training in a way that encourages target identification and reactions? Are we building training scars?

The answer is yes, we are developing training scars.

All training will come with some level of scarring, and we have to constantly adjust.

Become conscious of what you're doing, and be humble enough to learn from someone doing it better and personally evolve.

Stay smart, think fast, stay alive and keep your friends alive through a change of CQB mindset!

Slang for LEOs! Be there or be Square!

mardi 16 décembre 2025 • Durée 26:33

Please message us! We’ll pin to the episode, and would love a dialogue.

Knowing the streets can make or break a case.

The 1960s are gone where cops just run around with a 4-cell mag lite flashlight and thump folks. We're a quarter way through the 21st century, so let's learn to communicate with our lovely communities. That may mean knowing what people are talking about when they say the following phrases:

That hoe slaps!

That junt fye!

12 got my stolo!

Bows on deck for the low!

Got the drop on the opps! Lets slide

If you are in law enforcement and can't speak street slang, expect to be a step behind. Imagine dumping a phone as a detective into Cellebrite or looking through one as a patrol officer on the street and reading some of these, and not knowing that message five is about killing rival gang members, or message four is about selling pounds of drugs.

Although slang varies from place to place, I've worked wiretaps involving criminals from all over the country and there is significant overlap. Learn this slang from me, but more importantly, open your ears and mind to learning the slang in your area.

LEO's Unpopular Opinions

lundi 8 décembre 2025 • Durée 20:23

Please message us! We’ll pin to the episode, and would love a dialogue.

Law enforcement is generally pretty subjective and we as LEOs are given ample discretion on how we perform our duties.

Over the last few years, I've seen some LEOs rise, I've seen LEOs fall. Same with attorneys on both sides, jailors, etc. Heck, my original Chief of Police got federally indicted while I was working there and served years in prison.

Some of these opinions are likely to keep you out of hot water. Some I hope to guide your career into the loving hands of safety, longevity and prosper. Some may keep a co-worker alive. LEO is always hoping a chief listens, and an episode changes the face of an agency for the better - making it better at serving the public, its employees, and instilling public trust.

If you don't like my opinions on grooming standards, pay, and the risk of risky group text threads, let me know your opinion. Or just do what everyone does over these holiday dinners when politics come up - explain to me why you're right, I'm stupid, and I shouldn't be allowed to weigh in!

Stay safe, stay warm!

Thanksgiving is Over...Let's get consistent!

vendredi 28 novembre 2025 • Durée 13:42

Please message us! We’ll pin to the episode, and would love a dialogue.

The holiday is over, you've over-eaten, not worked out, neglected sleep and done everything else wrong.

Forgive yourself!

Being consistent to family, friends, co-workers and you means applying discipline over a period of time. This last episode before December will help you get through the holiday season without neglecting sleep (to be covered next), diet, exercise, your job, and more!

Please join me for 15 minutes, and share to a friend that is great...in short bursts...but fails to maintain this greatness.

Domestic Disputes - 13 minutes of How to Manage Safely and Effectively

mardi 25 novembre 2025 • Durée 12:53

Please message us! We’ll pin to the episode, and would love a dialogue.

We've all heard in training that domestic disputes / assaults can be soooooooooo high risk. Then we get on patrol, ride 10 of them a week, and complacency sets in. We're arresting husbands in front of wives and brothers in front of brothers and nothing is happening...

This episode will provide you with some ideas on how to safely, fairly and efficiently manage a high frequency call.

With Thanksgiving just around the corner, I hope none of you have to ride calls of "My cousin threw the gravy in my face" or "The turkey had no seasoning so I had to whoop his butt!"
