Ep 178: They Love Your Work. So Why Aren't They Hiring You?19 Oct 202600:38:12

If you want to improve your interior design sales process, you need to understand what your prospective clients are thinking before they decide to hire you. Because loving your work and being ready to sign a contract are two very different things.

I talk to designers all the time who assume a client’s hesitation means their fee is too high, their portfolio isn’t strong enough, or something went wrong in the consultation. But what if there’s a whole lot more happening behind the scenes? I want you to look at your sales conversations from the other side of the table and get curious before you start making assumptions.

I recently wrapped up a launch for my Luxury Client Academy, and the experience reminded me of how much we can learn by paying attention to our own buying decisions. In this episode, I’m sharing how you can apply those lessons to your interior design business.

In this episode, you’ll learn:

  • How to communicate what matters to prospective clients instead of simply listing your services, credentials, and experience.
  • Why an enthusiastic inquiry doesn’t necessarily mean someone is ready to hire you, and the questions that can help you understand where they are in their decision-making process.
  • How to uncover what’s behind a client’s hesitation before assuming the problem is your fee, your portfolio, or your process.
  • Why questions about design fees and project costs are often reasonable requests for clarity, not automatic objections to your services.
  • How to use questions and concerns from past clients to make your sales process easier to understand for the next person.
  • Why silence, delayed responses, and a lack of engagement aren’t a pass-fail test of your talent or your business.

Remember, your job isn’t to drag everyone across the finish line. It’s to communicate clearly, listen, follow up appropriately, and help the right people feel confident about making a decision. Sometimes that decision is yes, sometimes it’s no, and sometimes it’s just not right now.

Ep 177: What I’d Want to Know Before Joining The Luxury Client Academy05 Oct 202600:29:49

Before joining a coaching program, you need to know whether it will actually help you make better decisions in your interior design business—not just give you another pile of information.

If you’re considering the Luxury Client Academy, you probably have questions. Is this really different from another course? What if you already have a coach? Can you afford the investment? Where will you find the time? And maybe the bigger question underneath all of those: “Am I actually ready for this?”

I want to answer those questions honestly, because joining a nine-month coaching program is a real commitment. I’m not interested in convincing you that you need more information. I want you to think about whether you need help applying what you already know to the actual proposals, clients, pricing decisions, projects, and problems sitting in front of you.

In this episode, you’ll learn:

  • Why collecting more information can become its own form of procrastination—and why personalized support can help you turn information into decisions.
  • What to consider if you already have a business coach, including whether that person understands the specific ecosystem of an interior design business.
  • How to look beyond the cost of coaching and consider what undercharging, poor-fit projects, and missed purchasing opportunities may already be costing your business.
  • Why being busy doesn’t necessarily mean you need more capacity, and how 20 smaller projects can create a very different business than one full-scope project.
  • How to recognize whether “I’m not ready yet” is really about experience, clients, pricing, or the question underneath it all: “Do I belong in this room?”
  • Why qualification matters and how asking better questions earlier can help you stop taking projects you already suspect are a bad fit.
  • What actually changes when you have stronger processes, clearer decisions, and more confidence leading your business.

The Luxury Client Academy isn’t about becoming someone else’s version of a successful designer. We start where you are and work on what your business actually needs right now.

Ep 176: 5 Business Mistakes I’d Fix Before Chasing More Clients28 Sep 202600:29:53

Before chasing more clients, I want you to look at what’s already happening inside your interior design business. Because adding more work to a shaky foundation can make the problem worse.

In this episode, you’ll learn:

  • How taking whatever shows up can leave you building a business around work you never wanted in the first place.
  • Why a full calendar does not automatically mean a profitable project mix, and how too many small projects can block better opportunities.
  • The difference between a fee being wrong and a fee simply feeling uncomfortable, and why you need to price the project instead of the fear of the price.
  • Why your designs can be custom while your business needs a repeatable process for pricing, communication, purchasing, scope, and delivery.
  • How stopping networking, follow-up, and visibility when you get busy creates the feast-or-famine boomerang later.
  • The five questions I want you asking before deciding that more clients are the answer.

The goal is not to stay busy. It’s to have enough of the right opportunities that you can choose the projects that fit, hold the fees that make sense, and protect the process that allows you to do your best work.

Ep 175: She 5X’d Her Fee: $17K → $96K. What Changed First?21 Sep 202600:24:04

If you’re an interior designer who keeps hitting the same comfortable design fee, this episode is for you. I’m sharing Tina’s story of going from a $17,000 design fee ceiling to a $96,000 fee and the shift was not that she suddenly became five times better at design.

In this episode, you’ll learn:

  • Why your historical design fee may not be relevant to the opportunity sitting in front of you.
  • What needs to be underneath a higher design fee, including time, talent, expertise, responsibility, value, and the financial impact on your business.
  • Why confidently communicating your value matters when a client starts asking hard questions about your fee.
  • How your own pricing mindset can become the biggest thing standing between you and a bigger opportunity.
  • Why a bigger fee does not automatically make a project a better fit and the questions I want you asking before you say yes.
  • How one breakthrough fee can change your reference point and expand what you believe is possible for your interior design business.

Ep 174: The Design Fee Dilemma14 Sep 202600:21:41

If your interior design fees go down when you really want a project and shoot up when you’re hoping a client says no, the fee may not be the real problem.

I see designers shaving down fees because the project would look great in their portfolio or because they’re afraid the client will walk. Then, there’s the “make it worth my while” fee, hoping the project will disappear.

In this episode, you’ll learn:

• Why lowering your design fee to win a project can perpetuate the false belief that you simply need more clients.

• How a suspiciously high fee can be an avoidance strategy.

• Why a bigger fees don't magically turn a bad-fit project into a good one.

• How to separate project fit from interior design fee

• The one question I want you to ask before you hit send.

Ep 173: Are Smaller Projects Just Keeping You SMALL?07 Sep 202600:14:08

If your small interior design projects are supposed to lead to bigger work, the question is simple: are they actually doing it?

A lot of interior designers keep smaller services on the menu because they seem like an easier yes. A paint consultation, a decorating-only service, or a one-room package can feel like a smart way to get a client in the door, build trust, and eventually move into a larger project.

But here’s the rub: if that next step is not actually happening, you may not have a strategy. You may just have more small projects

.

In this episode, you’ll learn:

  • How to look at the actual data and see how many small interior design projects have really turned into larger jobs.
  • Why a smaller service needs a clear purpose instead of simply sitting on your website and hoping someone finds it.
  • The question I want you to ask yourself
  • Why smaller projects can take nearly the same communication, scheduling, attention, and mental bandwidth as larger ones.
  • How to tell whether your small offer is a real stepping stone to bigger work or simply a safer-feeling way to avoid selling the larger project.
  • Why your time, marketing, and attention should support the kind of work you actually want more of.

I’m not telling you to eliminate every smaller service. I like having one available when business is slow, you need a fill-in, or the right client needs a smaller starting point. But you need to know what that service is there to do.

If you want better clients for your interior design business, taking every project that lands in front of you may be the very thing keeping you stuck. In this episode, I’m challenging the automatic “I need more clients” response and asking you to look at whether you actually need more work, or better opportunities.

This is for interior designers who are busy, tired, and still wondering why the calendar isn’t translating into enough profit. When opportunities feel rare, it’s easy to talk yourself into projects that are too small, poorly matched, underpriced, or loaded with red flags. But when you have a steady rhythm of inquiries, you get something most designers don’t think enough about: choice.

In this episode, you’ll learn:

• Why “more clients” can simply create more of the same problems

• How to tell whether small projects are actually leading to larger, better-fit work

• Why inconsistent inquiries make you more likely to chase, discount, or ignore warning signs

• How a steadier flow of opportunities can change the way you price and evaluate projects

• Why project fit, profitability, and creative satisfaction matter more than filling every open spot

• The question to ask before saying yes just because an opportunity is in front of you

Ep 171: A Client Brought AI Images to the Interview. Now What?24 Aug 202600:27:27

A potential client walks into your consultation with AI-generated images of exactly what they think they want. Do you get defensive? Feel like you need to prove your value? Start explaining all the reasons AI can’t replace a designer? In this episode, I’m talking about why that reaction is probably getting in your way, and why the bigger issue has nothing to do with AI and everything to do with how well you qualify your clients.

Ep 170: Does Your Interior Design Business Have Hot Potato Syndrome?17 Aug 202600:24:40

Have you ever noticed how quickly you start backpedaling when a conversation gets even slightly uncomfortable? In this episode, I’m talking about “hot potato syndrome” ,that reflex to soften the ask, explain the fee, loosen the boundary, or offer another option before anyone has actually said there’s a problem. Sometimes the rejection hasn’t even happened; you’ve simply sensed the possibility of it and started reacting.

We’ll look at how this shows up around money, boundaries, referral relationships, and asking for what you really want. Because growing into the business you want isn’t just about better strategy. It’s also about becoming the designer who can state the fee, hold the boundary, make the ask, and stay there long enough to let the other person respond.

Ep 169: 4 Business Lessons I Learned From a Puppy10 Aug 202600:25:03

Apparently, all I needed to sharpen a few business lessons was a puppy who had never seen grass, hated his harness, and needed to be taken outside approximately 700 times a day. In this episode, I’m sharing four surprisingly useful reminders our new puppy gave me about business.

If you’ve been feeling buried under everything you still need to fix, learn, or figure out, this is your reminder that growth rarely happens all at once. Sometimes the smartest move is to stop looking ten steps ahead.

Ep 168: The Best Project I Never Took04 Aug 202600:21:44

On paper, it looked like the perfect project.

An 8,000-square-foot home, a major renovation and all new furnishings. Exactly the kind of opportunity most interior designers dream about. But I walked away.

In this episode, I'm sharing the story behind one of the most important business decisions I ever made and why saying "no" had nothing to do with the budget and everything to do with protecting my process.

If you've ever been tempted to bend your pricing, skip steps, or change the way you work because you're afraid to lose the project, this conversation is for you.

You'll learn why the projects you decline can shape your reputation just as much as the ones you accept, and why becoming a sought-after designer starts with trusting the way you do your best work.

In this episode, we discuss:
  • Why not every dream project is the right project
  • The red flags I recognized before saying yes
  • Why your process is one of your greatest business assets
  • The mistake so many designers make when they're afraid to lose an opportunity
  • How protecting your process builds trust, confidence, and a stronger reputation
  • The mindset shift that helped me stop chasing projects and start choosing them intentionally

Ep 166: Is Your Website Sending the Right Signals to Luxury Clients?20 Jul 202600:41:00

Your website may be beautiful, but is it actually making affluent clients feel confident enough to take the next step? In this episode, I’m joined by Robyn White of RDW Design Studio to talk about what luxury clients are really looking for when they land on an interior designer’s website and why trust, clarity and a sense of safety matter more than words like luxury, bespoke or elevated.

We also discuss how to position your portfolio for the work you want next, create a dedicated page for referral partners, and make your inquiry page feel like the beginning of a personalized client experience, not just another contact form. This episode will help you look at your website with fresh eyes and identify the signals that may be building confidence or quietly creating doubt.

Ep 165: Did the Nonsense Sneak Back In? The Mid-Year Reset for Designers13 Jul 202600:10:13

At the beginning of the year, we talked about doing things differently, creating space, getting lighter, and deciding what no longer deserves access to you. But halfway through the year, it is easy for the old ways to sneak back in. In this episode, I’m talking about the mid-year reset so many designers need, especially when you are tired from being “on” for clients, contractors, vendors, family, and the business itself. This is not about creating a massive new plan but taking a breath, looking honestly at what is working, what needs to be refined, and what needs to be removed before you carry it into the second half of the year.

In this episode, Pam closes out the V.I.P. Method series by explaining why more referrals are not always the answer if they are the wrong fit. She shares how designers can have referrals coming in and still feel frustrated when those opportunities are too small, too vague, too late, or not aligned with the level of work and fees they want. Pam explains why referral quality matters more than referral quantity, how past clients and industry partners may need clearer language about what kind of work to send your way, and why better-directed referrals can lead to stronger opportunity conversations, better proposals, and higher design fees. Ep 163: Proposal: Stop Quoting Too Soon - Start Shaping the Opportunity18 Jun 202600:44:15

In this episode, Pam breaks down the “P” in her V.I.P. Method: Proposal. She explains why one of the fastest ways designers undercharge is by pricing too soon, before the real scope, timeline, client expectations, builder responsibilities, and level of support are fully understood.

Whether the request comes from a client or a builder, vague language like “we just need help with selections” can hide a much bigger responsibility. Pam shares why asking clarifying questions does not make you look inexperienced...it makes you look professional, in control, and more like a business owner. You’ll learn why your proposal should not be a reaction to a vague request, but a clear recommendation based on the opportunity you have shaped before you price it.

Ep 162: What If They Say I’m Too Expensive?15 Jun 202600:37:49

In this episode, I talk about one of the biggest fears designers face when they start thinking about higher design fees: “What if they say I’m too expensive?” This fear often causes designers to shrink, soften, discount, or overexplain before the client has even objected and the real issue may not be about price at all. Sometimes “too expensive” is actually a clarity problem, a scope problem, a fit problem, or a sign that the opportunity was priced too soon.

Ep 161: Invitation: Stop Waiting for Referrals and Start Creating Access11 Jun 202600:32:39

In this episode, I breaks down the “I” in the V.I.P. Method: Invitation. If reaching out makes you feel like you’re chasing, begging, or being cringey, this episode will help you see it differently. I explain why better opportunities often come through relationships, why people forget about you when you’re not top of mind, and why staying connected in a thoughtful, personal way is a key part of creating access to higher-fee projects.

You’ll also hear why the phone not ringing with the right opportunities does not mean you’re not good enough, it may simply mean the right people don’t know what to invite you into yet. I share how to make outreach feel curious, personal, and relevant instead of cookie-cutter, plus I give you one simple exercise to help you reconnect with someone this week.

Your highest design fee does not start when the proposal goes out. It starts much earlier — with what you are known for, who is inviting you into the conversation, and how clearly the opportunity is shaped before you ever present a number.

In this episode, we’re diving into the V in the V.I.P. Method: Visibility.

Many designers are showing up, posting, sharing their work, and even getting referrals — but they are not always becoming known for the kind of projects that can actually support bigger fees. Visibility by itself is not enough. The real question is: Are you visible for the right work?

Because if people do not know what kind of projects to send you, they may send you anything...or nothing at all.

In the next episode, we’ll talk about the I in V.I.P.: Invitation.

Once you know what you want to be known for, the next question is: who is already near the clients, projects, and opportunities you want?

Ep 158: The $20,000 Refrigerator Was Just the Beginning25 May 202600:45:48

In this episode, I’m debriefing the Naples Experience (my Signature in-person event), but not in the way you might expect. Yes, there was a $20,000 refrigerator, a private chef that works with the cast of Yellowstone, luxury showrooms, a private sunset cruise, and homes ranging from $8 million to $84 million.

But the REAL transformation happened when the designers stepped away from the endless client requests and daily to-do lists and immersed themselves in a room full of smart, driven, curious women who are building businesses at the next level. In this episode, I'm talking about why luxury has to be experienced before it can be confidently sold, how proximity and exposure demystify the high end, and why unforgettable client experiences are what create raving fans.

Ep 157: When the Dream Project Is No Longer a Yes For YOU18 May 202600:43:39

In this episode, we’re talking about the surprising growth moment when a project you once dreamed of is no longer an automatic yes. After a coaching call inside the Luxury Client Academy, I’m sharing the story of a designer who was presented with a large, exciting project that looked incredible on paper, but the builder quality, client expectations, reuse requests, and overall project conditions didn’t feel aligned. This conversation became a powerful example of what happens when your standards evolve, your discernment sharpens, and you stop making decisions from urgency. We’ll explore how to recognize when hesitation is actually information, how to qualify projects beyond size and budget, and why turning down a “dream” project can be one of the clearest signs that your business has grown.

If you’re tired of chasing leads, talking people into your value, or saying yes to projects that make you question your life choices, Luxury Client Academy may be your next step.

Ep 156: If You Say This Word, I GUARANTEE You’re Undercharging11 May 202600:29:51

In this episode, we’re talking about one tiny word that could be quietly costing you thousands in your design business: “just.” If you’ve ever said, “It’s just a small bathroom,” “It’s just a few finishes,” or “It’s just a consultation,” you may be unintentionally minimizing the expertise, decision-making, and professional value you bring to your projects. I’ll unpack why designers use this word, how it affects your pricing, and why work that feels easy to you is often the exact thing your clients need most. Plus, you’ll learn how to catch yourself before you undercharge and start describing your work in a way that reflects the true value of your experience.

If you’re tired of chasing leads, talking people into your value, or saying yes to projects that make you question your life choices, Luxury Client Academy may be your next step.

Ep 155: Beyond Product: The Business Strategy Hiding at Market04 May 202600:38:13

High Point Market is not just about pretty product, new introductions, or showroom visits. It is a business laboratory. If you pay attention, it shows you where your relationships are strong, where your systems may be creating friction, where new opportunities are hiding, and who is truly invested in helping your design business grow. In this episode, I’m sharing the biggest breadcrumbs I picked up from Market, including why vendor relationships are such a powerful asset, how the right partners can feel like an extension of your team, and why networking is essential if you want to build visibility, deepen industry connections, and attract more high-end luxury clients.

If you’re tired of chasing leads, talking people into your value, or saying yes to projects that make you question your life choices, Luxury Client Academy may be your next step.

Ep 154: You’ve Tried Everything - and That Might Be the Problem27 Apr 202600:39:42

If you’ve been thinking, I’ve tried everything and nothing is working, this episode is for you. In this conversation, we’re unpacking why the problem may not be a lack of effort, ideas, or ambition, it may be that you’re focusing on the wrong things in the wrong order. I’m breaking down how to identify the tasks that actually move your interior design business forward, why so many designers stay stuck in cycles of over-creating and under-prioritizing, and how to stop chasing what feels exciting in favor of what creates real traction. If your business feels busy but not built, this episode will help you see what needs to change.

Ep 153: 5 Money Lessons I Wish I Knew Sooner 20 Apr 202600:48:42

In this episode of I Wish I Knew Sooner, I’m sharing the money lessons that would have saved me so much stress, second-guessing, and unnecessary struggle in business. We’re talking about why you can’t price for the best-case scenario, the importance of paying yourself first, knowing your monthly number, separating out money that isn’t really yours, and planning for the number and type of projects you actually need to hit your revenue goals. If you’ve ever had money coming in but still felt strapped, overwhelmed, or unsure whether you were truly profitable, this episode will help you start looking at your business finances with more clarity, intention, and confidence.

Ep 152: The Fastest Way to Grow as a Designer (That No One Talks About)13 Apr 202600:21:48

In this episode, we break down the fastest way to grow as a designer and why being in the right room changes everything.

Most designers think the next level comes from more information...another course, another strategy, another system.

But in this episode, we’re talking about what actually creates real growth in your design business, and why so many designers stay stuck longer than they need to.

If you’ve been feeling isolated, second-guessing your decisions, or unsure how to handle client conversations with confidence, this conversation will shift how you think about growth.

If you’re ready to step out of your day-to-day and experience this kind of growth in real life…

I’m hosting an in-person experience in Naples, Florida May 13-15th.

Ep 151: From Purchasing Panic to Profit Protection on a $34M Project06 Apr 202600:30:17

In this episode, I sit down with one of my interior design coaching clients to talk about a real-world project that pushed her far outside her comfort zone...a $34 million investment property where she had to navigate large-scale purchasing for the first time.

Before we began working together, much of the furniture had already been purchased through a local retailer, leaving significant profit on the table. Through coaching, we developed a strategy to handle the accessories and window treatments portion of the project by respecting the client’s budget while first protecting the designer’s profit and then sourcing within the remaining funds.

This conversation dives into the lessons she learned about pricing, purchasing, procurement systems, and confidence, and how this experience transformed the way she approaches protecting profit in her interior design business.

If you’re tired of chasing leads, talking people into your value, or saying yes to projects that make you question your life choices, Luxury Client Academy may be your next step.

EP 150: The Referral That Led to a 6-figure Design Contract: The Strategy Behind the Win 30 Mar 202601:03:16

In this episode, I sit down with interior designer and coaching client Audra to share the story behind her biggest project yet, a six figure design contract for a $4.5 million home. Just months earlier, she was questioning whether to continue her business after a difficult year filled with project delays, personal challenges, and slow new business.

As we worked together, I encouraged her to recommit to networking and outreach, which led to reconnecting with a realtor who ultimately referred her to the luxury homeowners. Audra shares how she navigated the referral, worked through moments of self-doubt when the clients didn’t immediately reach out, and how my coaching helped her prepare for the discovery call, structure the in-person meeting, and confidently present a proposal that ultimately secured the largest project of her career.

Ep 149: The Unforgettable Advantage (Part 3): Find Referral Partners That Bring Clients23 Mar 202600:27:31

In the final episode of The Unforgettable Advantage series, I reveal why some networking relationships generate clients while others never will and understanding the difference can transform the way you build your design business. After discussing why referrals feel inconsistent in Part 1 and how to become memorable in conversations in Part 2, this episode focuses on identifying the referral partners who truly move the needle. I introduce my Profitable Referral Matrix, a simple way to recognize which relationships deserve your attention and how nurturing the right partners can create a more predictable pipeline of projects. If you’re ready to stop networking randomly and start building intentional referral relationships that attract the right clients, this episode will show you where to focus your energy.

Ep 148: The Unforgettable Advantage (Part 2): The Secret to Networking16 Mar 202600:20:55

Most designers walk into networking events hoping to make connections.

But many leave wondering if anything will actually come from the conversations they had.

Why?

Because within the first few minutes of meeting someone, many designers unintentionally become forgettable.

In Part 2 of The Unforgettable Advantage series, I explain why most networking conversations fail and how one simple shift can make you far more memorable.

If you’re tired of chasing leads, talking people into your value, or saying yes to projects that make you question your life choices, Luxury Client Academy may be your next step.

Ep 147: The Unforgettable Advantage (Part 1): Why 98% of Designers Get Referrals But Only 2% Are Satisfied09 Mar 202600:27:47

Most interior designers say they get referrals from past clients, but almost none of them feel like it’s enough. So what’s really going on?

In this episode, I kick off a three-part series called The Unforgettable Advantage , a framework that helps designers build strategic referral ecosystems that consistently attract high-quality clients.

If your referrals feel inconsistent, random, or unpredictable, chances are you’re networking without a clear strategy. In Part 1 of this series, I reveal why most designers struggle with referrals and introduces the first shift required to become unforgettable in the rooms that generate business.

If you’re tired of chasing leads, talking people into your value, or saying yes to projects that make you question your life choices, Luxury Client Academy may be your next step.

Ep 146: The ADHD Designer Brain in Business: Pivot or Push?02 Mar 202600:34:43

There’s nothing more exciting than a new idea. A new offer or a fresh direction.

For designers, especially those with ADHD or highly creative brains, novelty feels electric. It feels productive. It feels like momentum.

But, are you making a strategic pivot or are you escaping the discomfort of the messy middle?

In this episode, I'm diving into the unique wiring of the ADHD designer brain in business, the dopamine spikes, shiny object syndrome and the tendency to overbuild. You'll learn how to discern whether it’s time to shift or time to stay the course.

Because hard doesn’t always mean wrong and boredom doesn’t always mean broken.

Ep 145: What 3 Days at Disney Did to My Business23 Feb 202600:32:54

I just spent three days at Disney for a mastermind with other entrepreneurs and it did more for my business than another month at my desk ever could.

This wasn’t about rides or ice cream (although…no regrets!), it was about perspective.

In this episode, I’m breaking down the real ROI of getting out of your office and into a room that stretches your thinking.

Ep 144: The Micro Yes: Progress When Life Gets in the Way09 Feb 202600:30:44

Life gets in the way. Not occasionally...constantly. And yet, most of us plan our businesses as if we’ll always have unlimited time, energy, and focus. In this episode, I talk about why planning for the best-case scenario sets us up to feel behind and frustrated, and how real progress actually happens when life is messy, distracting, and unpredictable.

Instead of big gestures or perfect schedules, this conversation introduces the idea of the micro yes, the small, intentional choices we make daily (or hourly) that move us toward what matters. I'll share why consistency beats perfection, how attention has become our most valuable resource, and why visual reminders can help bring us back to center when motivation fades. Because progress isn’t built all at once, but one small yes at a time.

Ep 143: Pricing, Process & the Power of No02 Feb 202600:35:22

Once you stop negotiating against yourself, the real work begins. In this episode, I'm talking about what it actually looks like to put a healthier money mindset into action, through process, boundaries, and pricing decisions that support a sustainable business.

I cover why education is part of your role (but convincing isn’t), how your process acts as a filter for the right clients, what to do when budgets come up without discounting yourself, and why some clients opting out early is actually a win.

This is Part 2 of a two-part series on money mindset and pricing for designers, and it’s all about building momentum by holding the line on how you work!

Ep 142: The Quiet Ways Designers Sabotage Their Own Pricing26 Jan 202600:21:14

In this episode, we’re talking about the money mindset patterns that quietly hold designers back: fitting into client-imposed budgets, internalizing numbers as personal feedback, disqualifying opportunities too early, and negotiating against yourself before you even have the facts.

If you’ve ever lowered your fee without being asked, assumed a client “couldn’t afford you,” or walked away from an opportunity before fully qualifying it, this conversation will change how you think about pricing.

In this episode, we cover:
  • Why client budgets often feel emotional, and how to stop taking them personally
  • How designers create constraints in their own minds before clients ever do
  • How disqualifying opportunities too early keeps your business stuck

This episode is Part 1 of a two-part series on money mindset, pricing, and boundaries. In Part 2, we’ll talk about how to put this mindset into action, through process, pricing structure, and momentum.

Ep 141: What Would Make 2026 Irreversible?19 Jan 202600:17:17

Most years don’t fail, they fade. In this episode, I explore the difference between trying and deciding, and why the years that change everything are often quieter, more intentional, and rooted in a single clear choice. If you’ve ever found yourself living in “almost”, almost committed, almost ready, almost confident, this conversation will feel like a mirror.

I also shares why real change rarely happens in isolation, and how clarity needs space and structure to turn into commitment. This episode is an invitation to pause, reflect, and ask the question that matters most as you look ahead: What would make 2026 impossible to go back from?

Ep 140: Stop Planning 2026 as Your Old Self12 Jan 202600:17:27

Most people don’t fail at their goals because they lack discipline, they fail because they’re planning the future as a version of themselves they’ve already outgrown. In this episode, I talk about why identity matters more than strategy when it comes to planning a year that actually works, and how making decisions from your “old self” creates unnecessary friction, burnout, and stalled momentum.

You’ll hear how your calendar, pricing, and boundaries are shaped by who you believe you are, and what starts to shift when identity catches up with growth. This episode is a quiet invitation to stop forcing a new year from an old version of yourself and begin planning 2026 from a truer, more aligned place.

Ep 139: 2026: The Year YOU Did it Differently05 Jan 202600:21:35

Most people plan a new year by adding more goals, systems, and expectations...and end up overwhelmed before January even ends. In this episode, I share why I'm doing the opposite as I head into 2026, starting with subtraction instead of addition.

You’ll hear why releasing what no longer serves you isn’t quitting, but leadership, and how creating space is often the missing step between ambition and real momentum. If planning a new year already feels heavy, this conversation will feel like an exhale.

I’m hosting a live planning experience called 2026: The Year You Did It Differently, where we start with subtraction, clarity, and intention before we talk about goals or growth. If you’re ready for no more normal, this is for you. It's January 22, 2026 at 12pm. Sign up info is below. 👇

Ep 138: The Yin & Yang of Design SUCCESS: Balancing Marketing, Systems & Sanity15 Dec 202500:44:47

In this episode, I sit down with Dixie Willard, founder of Poised and Plumb for a candid conversation about the two essential forces that drive a thriving design business: marketing and systems. Marketing brings in clients, but systems keep them happy.

Key Takeaways:

  • How to begin documenting your processes without overwhelm or perfectionism.
  • The Best way to streamline your workflow with tools & templates while maintaining a personal, human touch.
  • Why clear communication, internally and with clients, is the ultimate service.
  • How to avoid tech fatigue and choose software that fits your business (not the other way around).
  • Why progress is better than perfection and small steps toward clarity beat inaction every time.

Ep 137: [Part 4] The Purchase Problem: Referrals that Don't Turn Into BUYERS (3 Gap Series)26 Nov 202500:23:39

To get great referrals, you can be visible, you can spark interest...but if those referrals don’t convert into real buyers, your referral machine stalls right there.

In Part 4 (the final episode of this series), we’re closing the Purchase Gap, the reason you might be getting leads, but not landing clients at the level you want.

Because referrals aren’t the finish line, they're the starting line.

And if the people being sent your way aren’t ready to buy, don’t have the budget, or don’t understand your value, the system breaks.

In this episode, you’ll learn:

  • What to do when inquiries are coming in, but aren’t converting into clients.
  • The 3 moves that make clients who purchase effortless inside the Luxury Client Academy
  • My 4-step Qualifying process that saves time, tears, and wasted energy

Ep 134: [Part 1] The 3 Gaps that Keep You From Getting REFERRALS26 Nov 202500:16:41

If your referrals feel slow, unpredictable, or like they’re coming from the wrong people, there’s a reason, and it has nothing to do with your talent.

In Part 1 of this 4-part series, I’m breaking down the three gaps that are the leaks in your referral pipeline, the places where momentum stalls and opportunities never convert.

In this episode, you’ll learn:

1) Why your referral system feels random (even when you’re “doing all the things”).

2) The 3 gaps that keep referrals from flowing:

  • Gap #1: Visibility: You’re the best-kept secret, or visible in the wrong rooms.
  • Gap #2: Interest: You meet great people, but they don’t follow through or refer.
  • Gap #3: Purchase: You attract inquiries that don’t match your budget level or value.

3) The VIP Method that closes the gaps and creates a simple system so referrals stop being accidental and start being predictable.

If you want high-quality referrals that turn into real buyers, start here.

This episode sets the foundation for the series, and shows you exactly what needs to change before the phone starts ringing consistently.

If you want more referrals but it's just not happening, here's what you need to know. Most designers either stay invisible (because they don’t know what to say), or they jump in too fast, asking for business before any trust exists.

You need to go on a date before you get married. In this episode, I'm breaking down the exact process for building profitable, predictable referral partnerships without being pushy, awkward, or overly forward.

  2. Why warming up people matters
  3. The goodwill-first strategy (the only approach that works)

In this episode, I share how the chaos in your business often mirrors that big pile of laundry we all dread - everything jumbled together, overwhelming, and impossible to sort through.

I share how to take your business from from “dumped on the floor” to “sorted, folded, and put away” in your marketing and operations, one intentional system at a time.

🧺 What You’ll Learn
  • Why feeling disorganized doesn’t mean you’re not ready for coaching
  • How to stop trying to “do it all” and start doing what matters
  • The power of sorting your marketing and outreach (instead of dumping it all in one pile) so you see the difference between activity and progress
  • How I help you find clarity, direction, and calm through a simple, systemized approach

If you’re tired of chasing leads, talking people into your value, or saying yes to projects that make you question your life choices, Luxury Client Academy may be your next step.

It’s my private 1:1 coaching program for interior designers ready for better projects, higher fees, and less nonsense.
