How can we differentiate what we do and what we offer to set ourselves apart from the crowd? You're sure to get inspiration from today's episode.
While living and working in London England with her family, Helen McArthur accepted a job in Canada. They packed up, moved, and Helen began applying her background in pensions and communications to her new role.
But...she also brought with her, her talent, skill and passion for baking!
Helen McArthur is the founder and lead baker of a farm stand known as the Crazy Cookie House.
The words “whimsical” and “quirky” come up a lot in this interview. You have never seen a structure like Helen’s Crazy Cookie House. Check out the photos for this episode 57 at sidehustlehero.com and you’ll see what I mean. Think Harry Potter sorting hat, meets Tolkien’s hobbit house.
And her cookies are just as quirky and whimsical.
When Helen started the Crazy Cookie House as a side hustle, she wanted to offer much more than a cookie. She wanted to offer an experience. The result? You’ll hear about a dragon, the mouse, and cookies eating other cookies.

I love the business model. Connect with a product or service that you’re passionate about. Then become the industry source that the community trusts, for real, and honest, reviews. There’s no inventory to carry, and your cash flow at least at the beginning, comes from commissions from affiliate links.
Chuck will share that story, as well as give you pointers of a couple of things to look for if you’re curious about starting a review website.
He’ll also reveal the main indicator you need to look for, that’ll be a sign of when you need to stop planning and start executing your plan, for whatever your side hustle or expansion plan might be.
What You’ll Hear:

| 27: Scaling For Fun And Profit | 06 Dec 2022 | 00:43:12 | |
There’s a good chance you have way more talent, skill, and experience than you give yourself credit for. To help draw those out, today’s guest Sandra Booker has questions for you! A plea from her 13-year-old daughter motivated Sandra to put her talent and skills to work to raise some needed cash. Her full-time job wasn’t bringing in enough. So, Sandra embarked on an entrepreneurial journey by becoming a part time virtual assistant (VA). As that scaled, it was time to quit her 9-5 and make being a VA her full-time business. Realizing that a lot of the services she was providing were more big-picture and strategic in nature, Sandra shifted to being a Business Manager for multiple companies, and a trainer to aspiring VA’s. Regardless of your industry of focus, Sandra has tips, tricks, and inspirations to help you do what you do…better. You’ll hear several highly effective tips on finding clients, strategies for delegating like a pro (a must-have skill when scaling), and short cuts and hacks she teaches aspiring VA’s that we can all use in our side hustles. Be sure to catch the end of episode takeaway where I steer you in the direction of using some of the ideas you’ll hear today, not only in your business life, but maybe surprisingly, your personal life too.
