Dr. Barnard is able to define nihilism and how people easily fall into it (especially those that work in highly stressful professions); Will and Dr Barnard also explore how to start getting away from it. Dr. Barnard makes many thought-provoking connections between a philosopher's outlook of the world and how that compares with that of a police officer. On this episode, Will interviews his friend and long-time police officer: Ken Palmer. Ken was a police officer in DeKalb county Georgia in the 1960s and 70s, until he left for what he called a safer job: "the fire department." Ken later went to college and seminary before going back into police work for 33 more years. Ken discusses his personal experience with police work both before and after having found Christ, along with how a sacramental lifestyle has kept him focused on the truly important things in life. Ken also has a few wild stories along the way.

Police officers fill many shoes: be it counselor, roadside assistance mechanic, or professional chauffer; however one role that all police officers must successfully fill is that of a leader. In this episode, Will interviews one of his co-workers, Ed Buckman. Ed fashions himself a "perpetual student of leadership," a title exemplifying both his humility and his capacity to effectively lead. Will and Ed discuss a wide array of topics, from personal sacrifice and worship to holding leadership accountable for their mistakes, especially inside of the church. Ed's perspective of both being a student and a leader makes for some unique ideas which balance both leadership at the highest ranks to being able to make effective change in a small magnitude.
