My guest this week is Stephen Hawley Martin. We have a great discussion about his new book 'Edgar Cayce, The Meaning of Life and What to Do About It'.
If you believe it’s likely or even simply possible we humans are spiritual beings having a temporary physical experience, this book is a must-read. Author and metaphysician Stephen Hawley Martin interviewed three authorities steeped in the information contained in the more than 14,000 psychic readings given by Edgar Cayce [1877-1944] and received answers to the big questions we humans have been wondering about since we first walked upright on the African savanna. Martin shares the interviews and the answers in this volume along with a book he wrote recently that you can use to help you find and pursue your purpose.
Known worldwide during his lifetime as “The Sleeping Prophet,” Edgar Cayce twice-daily put himself into a hypnotic trance and was able to answer any question put to him. As the very extensive record shows, the accuracy of information revealed by Cayce that could be checked and verified was absolutely extraordinary.

Near-Death Experience
Épisode 771
lundi 28 septembre 2026 • Durée 59:53
This week I'm talking to Lorri Brewer about her book 'Heaven Time: Discovering a New Way of Life After a Near-Death Experience'
On September 19, 2010, author Lorri Brewer, was faced with the greatest challenge of her life. Her cardiac condition worsened and she was rushed to the hospital where she lost her life for just almost two minutes. She crossed over from this living plane to another energetic dimension suffering a near-death experience (NDE). Today this verifiable near-death survivor shares her intimate experience with death, the after-effects she continues to suffer from, and her inspirational insights on our world today. "My intentions in writing this book are to tantalize the mind, stimulate the heart's emotion, strengthen the foundations of faith, and inspire personal hope," said Brewer. "I am not attempting to convince anyone of the existence of an afterlife, prove that near-death experiences are real, or change any religious beliefs. Heaven Time is based solely on my personal beliefs since recovering from a NDE and enjoying another energetic dimension on this physical plane."
Bio LORRI BREWER is a daughter, sister, wife, mother and friend. She is also a successful business woman esteemed and appreciated by both her peers and clients for her strong moral compass and work ethic, integrity, and professionalism. On September 19, 2010, Lorri crossed over from this life to the afterlife and then returned with incredible knowledge and insight, which she now courageously shares with all of us in her book Heaven Time. Before being published, her amazing story and inspired reflections caught the attention of the CBC radio talk show The Current, with host Anna Maria Tremonti, the International Association for Near-Death Studies (IANDS), and the Near Death Experience Research Foundation (NDERF). These days, with her experience as a Competent Toastmaster, Lorri has created a series of motivational lectures and workshops in which she shares her life-altering experience and encourages others to discover for themselves the meaning of life and death. She is also working on her second book. When she’s not working or writing, Lorri enjoys sharing a simple, quiet life with her husband Larry, her son A.J., and a treasured circle of friends and family in beautiful Edmonton, Alberta, Canada.
This week I'm reading from David Allen's book 'Life According to the Soul: Awakening the Hidden Connections Between Your Life and Your Soul’s Eternal Truth'
Where ancient soul whispers meet the rhythm of modern life.
Awakening the hidden connections where ancient soul whispers meet the rhythm of modern life. Drawing on authentic and previously unpublished transcripts from Life Between Lives Hypnotherapy sessions, Life According to the Soul bridges profound spiritual insights with the realities and challenges of modern life. Step by step, it guides readers to connect their life experiences with an understanding of how they are intimately connected with an eternal spiritual existence.
Bio My working life began as an Apprentice Gas Fitter, through technical and managerial rolls to IT consultant, business owner, therapist, and political author, now largely retired, I’ve brought this work to the fore after about 13 years, because it is simply the right time. I had been conducting LBL (Life Between Lives) sessions for about 7 years from 2005, the year I undertook the training with the eminent Michael Newton as the lead trainer, until 2012, when I stopped work to concentrate upon a quite different role as my wife’s (Sandra) carer after her breast cancer diagnosis at the end of 2008. A few years have passed since then and the publication of this quite new perspective on the many spiritual revelations uncovered during these sessions took some time before forming into a realistic prospect for a book. That which I have discovered has been repeated by hundreds of other like-minded and like skilled facilitators.
The delay in writing the book was due, in the main, to a need to add a breadth of meaning and understanding not really explored that well in other similar texts. Rather than simply repeat the work that Michael Newton had pioneered, I wanted to connect these spiritual understandings to modern day living. Once I felt I had a sense of what I wanted to achieve with the book I began the onerous task of transcribing a seemingly endless supply of audio files, noting areas of special interest. The rather recent advent of AI, that could accurately turn an audio file into a textual document sped up the last of these quite dramatically. It still took about 18 months to two years to formulate the structure of the book in a way that would achieve these objectives best. Once that was decided in the back of my head, I began to write.
Signs of Reincarnation
Épisode 770
vendredi 25 septembre 2026 • Durée 56:45
In this episode I'm talking to Jim Matlock about his book 'Signs of Reincarnation: Exploring Beliefs, Cases, and Theory'
Signs of Reincarnation provides the first comprehensive look at the belief in reincarnation and the evidence for past lives from historical records, anthropological studies, and contemporary research. Matlock discusses various ways the evidence may be interpreted and shows that although reincarnation entails a rejection of the materialist notion that consciousness is generated by the brain, it does not require the acceptance of any radically new concepts or the abandonment of well-established findings in mainstream psychology or biology. This book offers students, scholars, and anyone interested in the possibility of reincarnation an essential grounding in beliefs, cases, and theory, while opening doors for future research into the extension of consciousness beyond our present lives.
Bio Matlock is an anthropologist and has been studying reincarnation since the early 1980s. Currently a Research Fellow at the Parapsychology Foundation and Associate Editor of the Journal of Scientific Exploration, he has worked at the American Society for Psychical Research and the Rhine Research Center, including as Acting Director. He has served as Treasurer for the Society for the Anthropology of Consciousness, a unit of the American Anthropological Association. Matlock has published numerous papers and book chapters on reincarnation and related topics, co-authored a book on children’s past lives in 2016 and wrote a solo book providing an overview of reincarnation research in 2019. He writes and edits for the Psi Encyclopedia, having produced more than 31 articles on reincarnation. His dedication to making reincarnation research more widely known is evidenced by his teaching of a post-graduate-level interdisciplinary course on the subject, and his ownership and maintenance of the 62,000-plus-member Facebook page Signs of Reincarnation: Research & Experiences.

An Out-of-body Journey Into The Spiritual Realm
Épisode 768
samedi 19 septembre 2026 • Durée 11:00
This week I'm reading from Tracy Palm's book 'Heaven Said to Tell You'
"What if Heaven had a message... not just for one person, but for all of us?
Heaven Said to Tell You is not simply the story of one woman's extraordinary spiritual encounter. It is the message she was entrusted to bring back.
During a gathering of faith leaders, Tracy Palm experienced a profound out-of-body journey into the spiritual realm. There she encountered overwhelming darkness, breathtaking love, restored understanding, and a powerful heavenly Presence that revealed timeless revelations about God, humanity, and our purpose. The message was both deeply personal and profoundly universal. She was shown that we were created for relationship with the One God who is the source of all life, and that His love is meant to restore what has been divided-between God and humanity, between each other, and even within ourselves.
Rather than offering another story about surviving hardship, Heaven Said to Tell You invites readers to explore questions that touch every life:
Why are we here? Who are we? Why is there suffering? What separates us from God-and from one another? Can broken relationships truly be restored? Is love more than an emotion... could it be the very foundation of creation? Through biblical insight, spiritual revelation, and practical wisdom, Tracy shares the teachings she believes Heaven intended for all of us to discover, not to promote a religion, but to point people toward the God whose love reaches beyond every barrier and whose desire is reconciliation, unity, healing, and hope.
Whether you have walked with God for years, are searching for answers, or have wondered if there is more to life than what we see, this book offers an invitation to discover hidden parts of yourself and the One who has never stopped pursuing you.
Heaven said to tell you... you were created for love, for purpose, and for relationship with God and one another."
Bio Tracy Palm is the author of Heaven Said to Tell You, a deeply personal account of extraordinary experiences that transformed her understanding of God, His unconditional love, and the connection we share with one another.
Her Spirit Guides Were Her Best Friends
Épisode 766
vendredi 18 septembre 2026 • Durée 58:00
The guest this week is Linda Deir. We talk about her book 'Guided: Her Spirit Guide Angels Were Her Best Friends and Life Coaches'.
At the hands of her bully mother, just 20 months old, Linda’s life was in danger. Out of options, she ran away from home only to be returned by the Sacramento police. It was the 1950s, a time when there were no child protective services, so the police officers chalked it up as a family matter. After they left, her mother brought her inside and beat her into unconsciousness. Waking up on the floor in a puddle of water, Linda was terrified to find herself right back in the hell she tried to escape.
Now, completely out of options, she cried out loud for someone to help her. That’s when her Spirit Guide Angels materialized all around her. As they looked down at her, on her hands and knees, in their calm and steady demeanor they telepathically broke through her amnesia by reminding her what she already knew, that “This world is not all there is.” With that heightened awareness, the pressure was instantly released, and she was connected and easily able to understand them. From that connection, she could now see what her Spirit Guides and Angels saw. There was no separation.
Next, her Guides showed her that, “The biggest tragedy of our times is that most people will die having lived fear-based lives.” From that one encounter, fear no longer had a grip on Linda. In fact, from that single encounter with her Spirit Guides and Angels she had a vital connection, a connection she would need to bring the clarity and understanding throughout her difficult childhood. With the help of her Guides, she survived. From this connection to them, her awareness was heightened. She was unwittingly living a “Guided” life, and although she was a target of her mother’s constant assaults she was never a victim of them. That challenging childhood became the boot camp where she mastered the skills necessary to achieve the many successes throughout her adult life all because she was guided.
People seek out, author, Linda Deir wanting to learn what her true story, GUIDED teaches, the way guidance works, and how to make the connection to their own Spirit Guides and Angels.
GUIDED is a riveting story of triumph over extreme adversity. Confronting bullies on every front, beginning with her dysfunctional family orchestrated by her bully mother. Escaping home as a teen in crisis and becoming a self-taught business phenomenon in a man’s world by age 19 and beyond. She achieved far more than even she imagined … knowing she was being guided.

Our Guide's Role in Reincarnation Planning
Épisode 765
samedi 12 septembre 2026 • Durée 09:56
This week I'm talking to reading from Bud Megargee's book, 'The Soul's Afterlife: Inside the Soul Octopus'
What does it mean to live with a soul that is both anchor and tide?
In The Soul Octopus Analogy, readers are invited on a journey that is part story, part meditation and part mirror. This is not a book of easy answers - it is a philosophical fiction that asks us to sit with questions that shape our lives, identity, grief, memory and the shifting currents of transformation.
Through imagery and imagination, the narratives explore how we come to know ourselves in a world that constantly remakes us. The Octopus - fluid, elusive, and infinitely adaptable - becomes a living metaphor for the human condition; stretching into the unknown, retreating into the shadows, and surfacing with new forms of meaning.
This is a book for readers who crave depth, who want fiction that lingers after the last page. It is a voyage where philosophy and story intertwine and where readers may find a reflection of their own hidden chambers.
Bud Megargee writes in the language of questions, believing that mystery is not something to be solved, but to be lived. His story begins in a working-class town of Pennsylvania, where the grit of industry and the resilience of community shaped his earliest sense of self. From those roots, he turned to psychology and health care, rising into leadership roles that demanded clarity, responsibility, and compassion. Yet beneath the surface of titles and systems, a deeper curiosity stirred, one that asked not only how people live, but how souls endure. The search carried him far beyond the familiar. In the stillness of a Taiwanese monastery, Bud discovered that silence is not emptiness, but a teacher. Monks, patients, and unseen companions became his instructors, each offering fragments of wisdom that resisted neat conclusions. His writings grew out of these dialogues—intimate exchanges that illuminated the fragile beauty of uncertainty, the resilience of spirit, and the mysterious companionship of the soul. Bud’s prose reflects the dual cadence of his life: the precision of a clinician and the wonder of a pilgrim. He writes not to instruct, but to invite—to walk with readers into questions that matter, questions that linger, and questions that remind us that life is larger than the boundaries we draw around it. In the countryside of south-eastern Pennsylvania, Bud lives with his daughter, Case, and continues to explore the mysteries that have always followed him: What lies beyond the near-death experience? How do we hear the voices of the soul? His words are not a map, but a lantern—a companion for those willing to wander into mystery.
Spirit Guides & Synchronicity
Épisode 763
vendredi 11 septembre 2026 • Durée 01:04:30
This week my guest is Sharon Rawlette. We talk about possible sources for coincidences such as spirit guides, God, deceased loved ones and what they mean. We go through many different areas and it's a fascinating conversation.
This all comes from her new book The Source and Significance of Coincidences: A Hard Look at the Astonishing Evidence.
Every now and then, we all have experiences that seem too meaningful to be chance but that we can't explain in any normal way. Now, philosopher Sharon Hewitt Rawlette tackles some of the hardest questions surrounding such coincidences, also known as "synchronicities":
How can we calculate whether a synchronicity is too improbable to be just chance? What hard evidence is there that these events convey genuine messages from God or our deceased loved ones? Do ordinary people have the psychic ability to create coincidences, for themselves or others? Why do coincidences sometimes harm or deceive?
Rawlette brings together an immense body of research (drawn from science, statistics, near-death experiences, deathbed visions, and many other extraordinary human experiences) that clearly points to a meaningful reality beyond the bounds of current science and at the same time demonstrates both the promise and peril of interpreting synchronicities as signs from above. Rigorously paradigm-shattering, this volume will leave skeptics and believers alike ruminating for years to come.
Sharon is an analytically trained philosopher (PhD from New York University, 2008) who specializes in metaethics and the metaphysics and epistemology of paranormal experiences. My most recent scholarly publication is on the topic of the statistical significance of psychic coincidences and their implications for belief in psychic causation. Her past publications include The Feeling of Value (2016), a defense of analytic descriptivism in ethics, and "What do our intuitions about the experience machine really tell us about hedonism?" (2010).

There have been three stages in my life where I have “grown” as a person and in my understanding about myself, my world and my spirituality. I came from a very practical background, was very focused on work and my family which I don’t think is too bad a place to start. I would have begun this with the short period as a musician where I went from playing in a group part time to going professional. Having been dabbling and playing since school I took the plunge and in 1969, gave up the full-time job (which actually paid), got married, and spent the next 9 months travelling all over the country for peanuts. All I learnt from that experience was that I wasn’t cut out for that kind of life. That’s not really personal growth so much as abject realism.
My first period of enlightenment was a two-year course in management (DMS, Diploma in Management Studies) taken when I was about 26. The course required engagement with people from very different backgrounds, all very able, and immersion in that environment opened my eyes quite a bit. A section of the course covered Psychology which added significantly to how I viewed the world and people. Secondly was the quite unusual involvement (because I was 30 years old) with Kyokushnkai Karate. I took my two young sons along initially and, of course, tried it myself.
They soon became bored, but for some bizarre reason I stuck at it, despite the fact that I had never been so physically and mentally stretched ever before. 20 years later, as a 4th Dan, I retired. Joints began to hurt more than before, and it was taking up too much of my time. However, I learnt a lot about myself as a person. The most significant period for me came after selling my small company and re-training as a hypnotherapist in 2003, aged 56. After an initial period, I began doing Past Life Regression and then after having read of the groundbreaking LBL work decided that I just had to train in that discipline as well. The whole period, including reaching trainer level in EFT (Emotional Freedom Techniques), opened my eyes to different worlds, metaphorically and reality. Throughout my life I’ve done things that could be described as impulsive, or unfounded, but I truly believe now that some of those momentous decisions, including writing this book, weren’t really my ideas at all. Sometimes if you just listen, you’ll know what to do.
