Episode #116 - The Howling Man - Part 3
Épisode 116
vendredi 14 octobre 2022 • Durée 53:06
"The Howling Man" has long been recognized as an all-time fan favorite in the Night Demon catalogue. This week we conclude our deep dive into the track by examining "The Howling Man" in the live arena. You will hear about the first times it was performed live back in 2014, and why it works so well in the live setting. The guys explain the origins of the sample that begins the song, and then proceed to go through a detailed breakdown of the different instrumental parts. Of particular note, Armand enumerates how and why he has adapted the guitar parts from the original recorded version, adding little nuances and ear candy that were not there before. You will discover how a live performance of "The Howling Man" began as an out-of-tune train wreck at a German festival earlier this year, only for Night Demon to emerge triumphant in the end. Finally, Jarvis reveals an upcoming project relating to The Twilight Zone.

Episode #115 - The Howling Man - Part 2
Épisode 115
vendredi 7 octobre 2022 • Durée 51:28
In this week's episode, we trace the lineage of band and fan favorite "The Howling Man," beginning with a demo recorded in Brent Woodward's bedroom in December 2011, making it one of the earliest Night Demon songs. From there, we examine how the track evolved and grew over the course of a series of recordings that at various times included each of the three Night Demon drummers. The band members talk about how this song marked their first step away from the straight NWOBHM-inspired material they had written previously, and their first attempt to incorporate proggier elements into Night Demon songcraft. You will learn of Armand's writing contribution to the track, the sequence of names by which the song was known, and how the final 'Curse of the Damned' version differs from its predecessors. Listeners who pay close attention will also hear more clues about the forthcoming 2023 Night Demon studio album.

Episode #114 - The Howling Man - Part 1
Épisode 114
vendredi 30 septembre 2022 • Durée 54:00
This week we begin our deep dive into one of the all-time classic Night Demon tracks, "The Howling Man." The episode begins with host Nesbit describing myriad occasions in which he has been oblivious to The Twilight Zone references in popular culture. The point, of course, is that Night Demon rooted the lyrical themes of this song firmly in an episode of The Twilight Zone. You'll hear demo versions of the song dating back to 2011. Jarvis explains the significance of The Twilight Zone to him, and how he stumbled upon this episode as lyrical inspiration for the song. We then go line-by-line through the lyrics of the song, tying them back to the episode and highlighting not only the portions that are faithful to the dialogue but also those in which Night Demon added their own twist. The episode ends with another teaser about the forthcoming third Night Demon studio album.
