Staying Hydrated When TTC With Hashimoto's

mercredi 29 mars 2023Durée 20:45

In this week's episode we are diving into the benefits of staying hydrated when TTC with Hashimoto’s! Our bodies need water in order to function properly, and ensuring you are getting adequate amounts is important. We know that our skin, brain, kidneys, lymphatic and reproductive system all thrive off of water. Water keeps things moving within our body and also allows for our kidneys to flush toxins out! When we stay hydrated, our reproductive system keeps our cervical mucus in optimal condition for sperm too! Sperm can swim through cervical mucus much easier when hydration is above ninety-seven percent!  Even if you aren’t TTC, you still have to stay hydrated. We’ll share our favorite tips on how to know how much water to drink, what actually counts towards your water goal, and how to make drinking water more enjoyable. Being dehydrated can create stress on the body and we want to avoid that at all cost! Want more? Breastfeeding with Hashimoto's- What Your Doctor Didn't Tell You

mercredi 23 novembre 2022Durée 33:11

This week's episode will be centered around breastfeeding and how Hashimoto’s plays a role in your milk supply! However, before listening, we want to put a trigger warning on this episode because we will be discussing the challenges associated with breastfeeding such as having an undersupply of breast milk. We will also talk about anxiety and depression during postpartum while breastfeeding.

Women with Hashimoto’s can encounter an undersupply of breast milk, and we know that postpartum hormones, stress, and nutrition all play a role in this. We will be discussing the challenges of breastfeeding, such as supply, engorgement, pumping, latching, flange sizes, D-MER (dysphoric milk ejection reflex), and much more. We encourage any momma who is on a breastfeeding journey, to speak with a lactation consultant, even after leaving the hospital, as they are wonderful resources to reference when feeding your little ones! We have linked some of our favorite lactation consultant instagram pages below.

Everyone’s postpartum journey looks different, and we know that breastfeeding isn’t for everyone and that’s okay! We firmly believe FED IS BEST, whether that be through breastfeeding, formula feeding, pumping then bottle feeding, or through donor milk!

Teething, Rashes, Stress & Beyond- Real Life

mercredi 19 octobre 2022Durée 32:00

In today’s episode we are having conversations about life as new moms and all it encompasses. We can attest that motherhood brings new challenges to our Hashimoto’s healing, and being in this new(er) territory of motherhood has reaffirmed the importance of asking for help! We have been known to be perfectionists, type A, over achievers but have learned that in order to manage our stress, we MUST surrender and ask for help. Oftentimes, this means we are leaning on our significant others, parents, or friends to help us, and that’s okay! We share how our biggest lessons, thus far, have been to take time for ourselves, express our feelings instead of keeping things bottled in, and be okay with B- effect on things that don’t have to be done perfectly our way.

Remember to be kind to yourself and be open to allowing yourself to occasionally step away from mommy duties, guilt free!
