Edward Cabrera pitched seven scoreless innings of three-hit baseball, Connor Norby hit two two-run home runs, and the Miami Marlins beat the NL East-leading Philadelphia Phillies 10-1 on Sunday. 

Cabrera (4-6) struck out six and walked just one. The 26 year-old didn’t allow a hit until the sixth inning, after missing Friday night's scheduled start with migraine-like symptoms. 

Rookie Griffin Conine had three hits, Javier Sanoja doubled and singled, and Nick Fortes hit a two-run double for Miami, 54-89. 

The Marlins have more than 10% of their wins against the Phillies, the 2nd-best team (record-wise) in the National League. 

The Marlins won the last two of the four-games against the Phillies by a combined score of 19-6 after getting beat 16-2 on Friday. Philadelphia won the season series 7-6. 

Norby has six homers and 13 RBI's, and he has hit safely in 17 of 18 games, since being recalled from Triple-A Jacksonville on Aug. 19. 

Bryce Harper had two hits, including an RBI single that put Philadelphia on the board in the ninth. 

Philadelphia starter Seth Johnson made his MLB debut, and the Marlins made it a forgettable one. Back-to-back-to-back RBI singles by Otto López, Conine and Sanoja made it 7-0. 

The 25-year-old Johnson (0-1) allowed nine runs and eight hits in 2 1/3 innings. He spent five seasons in the minor leagues before the Phillies promoted him from Triple-A on Saturday. Norby's first-inning homer gave Miami a 2-0 lead, and they would never look back. 

The Marlins had their 69th player appear in a game this season and tied a major league record when Lake Bachar relieved Cabrera to start the eighth. Bachar struck out the side in a perfect inning. The Chicago Cubs also used 69 players in 2021. 

Phillies catcher Garrett Stubbs pitched a scoreless eighth inning. 

Marlins LHP Ryan Weathers (left index finger strain) gave up four runs and six hits over 2 2/3 innings in a rehab outing with Triple-A Jacksonville on Sunday.

Otto López missed the cycle by a triple, Connor Norby homered and drove in three runs, and the Miami Marlins snapped NL East-leading Philadelphia’s six-game winning streak with a 9-5 win over the Phils on Saturday in Miami. 

Jonah Bride also homered, and Xavier Edwards and Nick Fortes had two hits each for the Marlins, who had 14 hits a day after losing 16-2 to the Phillies. 

The Marlins were busy Saturday, adding four new players to the roster. Infielder Javier Sanoja made his major league debut with a pinch hit appearance in the seventh. The 22-year-old Sanoja hit a grounder to shortstop Trea Turner, who threw errantly attempting to cut down a runner at the plate that led to two runs. Sanoja was credited with a fielder’s choice RBI. 

John McMillon (2-1) pitched 1 1/3 innings of scoreless relief for the win. 

Phillies starter Aaron Nola (12-7) was lifted after he allowed five runs and nine hits over 4 2/3 innings, walking two and striking out five. It was his shortest start since allowing eight runs and 11 hits in 3 1/3 innings against Boston on June 13. 

Bride homered to lead off the fifth and put Miami ahead 5-3 and Jesús Sánchez added an RBI single in the sixth. 

The Marlins padded their lead with a three-run seventh against former starter Taijuan Walker. López hit a solo homer over the center field wall before Griffin Conine and Fortes scored on Turner’s throwing error. 

Philadelphia’s Kyle Schwarber hit a tying sacrifice fly in the third inning for his 93rd RBI of the season. 

Norby hit a two-run homer in the first to put Miami ahead 2-1. 

Marlins starter Darren McCaughan allowed three runs and six hits in 4 2/3 innings. The right-hander struck out four. 

The Marlins placed RHP Max Meyer (right shoulder bursitis) and RHP Calvin Faucher (right shoulder impingement) on the 15-day injured list and OF Derek Hill (right shoulder impingement) on the 10-day injured list. LHP Andrew Nardi (left elbow muscle) was transferred to the 60-day injured list.

Matt Chapman hit a three-run, bases-clearing double with two outs in the bottom of the eighth inning, lifting the San Francisco Giants over the Miami Marlins 3-1 on Friday night in the city by the bay. 

The game was tight the whole way, with a pitchers’ duel breaking out between the Giants' Blake Snell- the reigning NL Cy Young Award winner- and the Marlins’ Adam Oller, who signed with Miami as a minor league free agent in July. 

Oller had his best outing of the season with a career-high eight strikeouts in six scoreless innings. He was making just his third start for the Marlins since being called up earlier this month. 

Snell had not allowed a run in four straight home starts prior to Friday and entered the game with a 1.30 ERA in his last nine outings. Tonight, he struck out eight Marlins in seven innings, allowing just one run on four hits with just one walk. He has been lights out since the All-Star break. 

Daryl Hensley's RBI single in the seventh broke a scoreless tie for Miami, but the bullpen couldn't hold the lead. 

Miami reliever Mike Baumann (3-1) was charged with all three runs after allowing a single and two walks in the bottom of the eighth. Those three runners scored on Chapman's double off George Soriano.

Trailing 1-0 with nobody on base and two outs in the bottom of the eighth inning, the Royals scored five runs on six consecutive hits to bust the game wide open, and cruise to the 5-1 victory.

With two outs in the eighth, the Royals started mashing, batting around in the order, and sending the Marlins to another series loss, and now off to Philadelphia in the worst possible way. 

Like Friday, it was Royals' sluggers Vinnie Pasqualino and Salvador Perez right in the middle of it, driving in the tying and go-ahead runs. With closer Tanner Scott unavailable, Huascar Brazoban got two easy outs to start the inning, and then the wheels came off. The Royals had scored five runs in their last four games combined, counting their four-run game in this series' opener on Monday. 

The KC rally spoiled a brilliant effort from Valente Bellozo in his first career start. The twenty-four year old Mexican right-hander pitched five shutout innings, giving up just hits while striking outtwo and walking none. 

Nick Fortes drove in the only run of the game for Miami, as the Marlins continue to struggle offensively. 

The Marlins travel to Philadelphia to take on the first-place Phillies in a four-game series starting tomorrow night. Trevor Rogers will start for the Marlins, taking on the Phillies' Zack Wheeler. First pitch is at 6:10pm ET. The Marlins are a +240 underdogs. The Phillies are the -290 favorite at -290. The total is 7.5 runs, with the under coming in at -120, and even money on the under.

The Miami Marlins squeaked out two runs in the seventh inning- after the Kansas City Royals inexplicably took ace Seth Lugo out of a game he was dominating- and the bullpen took it home from there in a 2-1 win that evened up this series at a game apiece, with the rubber game set for tomorrow.

The Marlins (27-51) and Royals (43-37) fought it out in Kansas City, with Yonny Chirinos battling K.C. ace Seth Lugo, and the bullpens taking it from there. 

Chirinos gave up just one run on three hits, striking out five in his best outing of the season so far. 

Lugo went just six innings after no-hitting Miami through 4 1/3, allowing just one hit and striking out eight. 

The Marlins took advantage of Lugo's short outing, scoring two runs in the seventh off Carlos Hernandez- on two infield singles and a throwing error- to take the lead. 

Otto Lopez had his second straight two-hit game for the Marlins, who have won five of their last seven games. 

Vinnie Pasquantino had an RBI single for the Royals, who hadn't scored a run in eleven innings before last night's game. 

The two teams wrap up their three-game series tomorrow at Kaufman Stadium, with first pitch set for 2:10pm ET. 

Valente Bellozo will make his major league debut on the mound for the Marlins, facing the Royals' Brady Singer. (4-4, 3.29 ERA) to pitch for Miami.

The Royals are the -230 favorite, with the Marlins at +195, and the over/under of 9.5 runs is -130 on the over and +110 on the under.

Cole Ragans dominated Miami with eleven strikeouts, and three different KC players hit home runs, leading the Royals over the Marlins 4-1 in Kansas City.

The Marlins struck out 15 times- little league numbers- against Cole Ragans, managing just four hits and not having one runner reach second base after the fourth inning. 

Roddery Munoz pitched pretty well for the Marlins, but solo home runs hit by Vinnie Pasquantino, Salvador Perez and Hunter Renfroe gave the Royals- and Ragans- all the offense they would need. In fact, no Royals player had two hits or more tonight. 

Otto Lopez had two hits for Miami, the only Marlin to do it. Four different Miami players struck out three times each tonight, and four Marlins struck out two times each. 

The Marlins (27-51) and Royals (43-37) will play game two of this three-game series tomorrow night. Yonny Chirinos will make his second start of the year for Miami. The thirty year-old righty pitched five innings, giving up two runs eight hits. 

Royals' ace Seth Lugo, (10-2, 2.82 ERA) coming off back-to-back wins over the Dodgers and A's, will take the ball for the home team.

Marlins explode early, hang on late to beat Mariners 6-4 in series finale in Miami.

Nick Gordon hit a three-run home run in the bottom of the first inning to get it started for Miami, (27-50) and Tanner Scott got the dangerous Julio Martinez on a bullet of a line drive to second baseman Otto Lopez with the bases loaded to end the game. 

Jesus Sanchez also homered and scored twice for Miami, 27-50. Jazz Chisholm, Jr., added two hits, an RBI and a run scored, as the Marlins roughed up Seattle starter Bryce Miller six runs on six hits in four innings. 

With Braxton Garrett scratched due to a left forearm strain, Kyle Tyler made his first career start for Miami, giving up two runs on three hits in four innings. 

Luke Raley went 3-3 with a home run, two RBI's and two runs scored for the Mariners, 45-35. 

Miami put Garrett on the 15-day injured list, where he joins fellow starters Jesus Luzardo, Ryan Weathers, and Edward Cabrera. Ace Sandy Alcantara and Eury Perez are already out for the season. 

The Marlins are heading to Kansas City to play the Royals in a three-game series starting tomorrow night. Roddery Munoz will start for Miami, with first pitch set for 8:10pm ET.
