Julie has a dear friend who used to say, “Jewels, you’re 19 going on 90”. Opinionated, but always learning, after over 40 years of never getting around to writing plays, books or blogs, her contribution of additional content for Katherine Ryan’s audiobook, The Audacity, motivated her to share some stories and perspectives on all kinds of everyday subjects.Get in touch! Faulty Recall and Change

Saison 4 · Épisode 34

jeudi 29 août 2024Durée 29:38

Jewels says most of us don’t remember details as well as we think, it’s hard to remember everything you’ve said to whom and a child’s world today is very different from their parents’ and grandparents’.

Best to adapt rather than stubbornly clinging to old ideas and mistakes. It's better for us too.

Life is Unfair

Saison 4 · Épisode 25

jeudi 27 juin 2024Durée 28:35

Jewels says JFL Montreal is BACK, even if on a small scale - mostly men though - and as pride month wraps up, the complainers might need to be reminded of what’s been happening to women’s reproductive rights that we’ve taken for granted, and if you don’t like what people post on social media, you are free to ignore it.

We all make mistakes and life isn’t fair, so we might as well relaaaaax and let things that annoy us go rather than amplifying them.

The Batman of Ossington

Saison 2 · Épisode 40

Parity, Programming and Privacy

Saison 2 · Épisode 39

jeudi 29 septembre 2022Durée 30:12

Jewels says she took a programming job after learning the truth about how underpaid she really was, even though programming is one of many under appreciated skills in the chaotic corporate culture.

Who knew that writing code is a lot more exciting than it looks?

The Producer

Saison 2 · Épisode 38

jeudi 22 septembre 2022Durée 30:32

Jewels says love wins over money and she loves showbiz. Enough to produce a musical. That flopped. Financially. Totally worth it.

Profits vs People

Saison 2 · Épisode 36

jeudi 8 septembre 2022Durée 30:00

Jewels says maybe the big oil companies could cut into their obscene profit margins and C-Suite bonuses... maybe just a little? Everyone is dealing with problems we don't know about and it’s not fair that she doesn’t have the strength of a 6’ tall muscular man.

Saison 2 · Épisode 34

jeudi 25 août 2022Durée 30:01
